Hey all
This is not meant to be offensive at all to any of the developers. I am just flat out wondering what people think of the TouchFLO option and the Cube option.
Myself, I dont like either "addon". I mean they are nice...but for me I have no need for them...but of course thats just me
Keep up the good work developers...my Prophet has gone from frustrating to fricken amazing...all thanks to you people
The Cube is a piece of garbage for all I care... It looks cool, but that's it. not functional at all...
TouchFLO is quirky but pretty functional allowing me to scroll without having to grab onto the scroll bars. handy for me since I don't have long nails and it improves one-handed operation.
yes to touchflo, no to cube
personally, I like touchflo, but just the scrolling part. it is handy for PIE or contact manager.
for the cube, I think it is too much for my prophet.
I do not use fast dialing in the cube, I access them from htc homeplug today plugin. I do not listen to music, watch videos or surf in the pictures folder on my phone neither. I prefer the plain old functionality for comm button.
gullum's new approach for activating the cube is somewhat better in my opinion (swiping nail at the bottom of the screen to activate it). but again, I never use it as I don't need it.
I feel like it is meant just for showing the effects to friends and say "look, my phone can do this and that" and that lasts for just couple of days.
CUBE is pretty useless if you can't edit the launch.
but I like the QuickDail in CUBE. I would wait for V6 to come out. The CUBE activation is nothing you tried before. It's every effective & hidden if you don't use it.

there is a app to edit launcher comin in V6
Cube and Touchflo are very useful when they're in HTC Touch.
But with Prophet soft screen , I think I need just only HTC Home and as "Original" as WM6 Rom.
The CUBE
The cube has the same app. launcher as the home plugin. The picture contacts, sms, email, internet, wireless manager, video, pictures, etc. The cool thing about it is that it is hidden away, but at the TOUCH.....of a finger it will appear to access whatever app. you want. This leaves room on the today screen for other applications, or better applications like marsware weatherpanel chameleon version for the weather. You cannot go wrong trying to get your local weather with this app., but everyone is having problems with the htc touch weather app.. I'm glad you brung this topic up because I would like to just use the cube and I think I gave a pretty good opinion, and if anybody can get just the cube to work p m me or make a new thread so everyone can see it. Can't wait.
cube
IMHO the cube looks nice but after 2 days you have seen the cool effects and don't use it anymore. the fingerscrolling is cool !
Cube
The Cube , the cube. Can anyone make a cab file for just the cube and finger scrolling. Leave the touch home plugin out ?

You can just disable it from TODAY
i flashed the pdaviet touch rom, looked at the cube and disabled any hardware button assigned to it
i my opinion it is useless. it is slow and accessing my favorite programs is even without it every easy. so there is no need for it.
but touchflo is a bit different: it is usable in almost every application. scrolling around through the windows folder makes fun now - with resco explorer
it is a usefull addition, which works with 3rd party apps: very good!
but i have a question about touchflo, the cube and this htc today plugin: do we need to cook extra roms for them? isn't it possible to create a .cab for every single of these features? storage memory on the devices is limited, and storing some apps which have been disabled since the beginning by the user is just a waste of memory.
Cube has become verry intresting
As most of my beta testers will agree on... the cube coan be usefull finaly and does not have to take the place of any button hard or soft and having the option to asign which programs are activated by the cube is now not a problem any more... and the TouchFlo I can see how anyone can not like it... with touchflo the use of stylus is minimized to writing text and if one uses a good phone pad you could almost trow away the stylus...
just my toughts

sounds great Gullum!
I'm looking forward to using your V6 ROM.
Just touchFlo for me(very handy for scrolling in one had operation mode).
Since I use SPB Mobile Shell, and PhonePad the using of the stylus is reduced to writing some text and SR.
Cube is just the beginning
TouchFlo is great, makes it much easier to control the device with one hand.
The Cube right now looks great, but is not that functional yet.
The cube could somehow become the new today screen, making it even easier to control the device. So the idea behind the cube should be used in other aspects of WM.
I do not like Touch Flo very much because of several reasons...
I have a question for an alternative:
Would it be possible to change the touch flo function so it is possible to scroll like in Opera mini4? Somehow like "hold and move"
Today I tried the Ipod touch which has nearly the same software as the iPhone will have. Apple also included scrolling in that way....I find it much more comfortable than TouchFlo....
SO anyone an idea?
Greetz
i like both since both could be provided ,so why not use both,it would be more better if cube could have launcher window too inside it.
Touchflo
I like the scrolling and I like the look of the cube but just having 6 apps to launch makes it a poor launcher.
Ideally I'd like to see more sides to the cube or 9 icons per page or something. Everyone launches more than 6 apps!
It's good to show off with though!
I like the cube, and with customisation it's pretty near perfect. One thing that would be really useful (it it's possible) would be the addition of a comm manager screen on top of the current three to increase it's functionality and allow me to change what my Comm manager button does hardware wise...
The touch scrolling is very very useful because I use an on screen finger friendly phone pad. I now never have to use my stylus (except for resetting).
I don't use the cube for the fact that customizing the damn launcher stuff is too damn complicated. I think ultimately if someone could develop a cube to be a today screen that would be beyond awesome. So you can create different pages and select different plugins to show on the pages. That way you can use stuff like SPB pocket plus and just do unlimited things with it. It doesn't even have to scroll or anything special like that.
Hello all,
First of all this will be considered a NOOB post which also happens to be my first one here, and i'm not 100% sure this is posted in the right area either, so i apologize. I have searched and searched for this but have not found anything, so please excuse me if i've overlooked this and it does exist.
I am looking for an hoping it exists for a Calendar Tab that can be added to the TF3D on my Sprint HTC Touch Pro device. I did find a .cab file for one and installed it, but it was just for a regular calendar and did not have any functionality for adding appointments etc. I would think with all the mastermind programmers here that someone has or could make a TF3D calendar tab application that would allow the ability to add appointments. Also ideally the icon for the calendar tab would work properly as well. On the one i downloaded and tried the icon was a solid gray mass until the TF3D slider was on top of it, in which case it displayed properly as the white outlined icon like the rest of the stock TF3D icons. If anyone can help here it would be appreciated.
EDIT: Perhaps even if someone could port the calendar from the Touch Pro 2 to work on the Touch Pro?
I posted this within a ROM thread a couple days ago but it has had little traffic. I am reposting it here for visibility.
I am using NFSFANs 6.5.x 28004 ROM and am loving it! Everything works great but I have a cosmetic/functionality preference and am not sure how to change it.
My question: I prefer HTC 2.x over the Titanium/Windows default home screen. However, I prefer using the default WinMo menus and SMS apps over the HTC ones. Is there any way I can use the Manilla front end for the home screen but not its menus? When I click a txt in the manilla SMS window, I would prefer it to open the WinMo SMS window instead of using the HTC one. I just find it more stable and easier to use. I also like the look and setup of the WinMo menus over the ones that are now system wide since I have manilla enabled.
Am I missing a setting?
maybe try going to the messages tab and tapping on all messages
I have been doing that as an alternative but it adds a few clicks.
Hi guys,
As stated, I dislike HTC ever since I bought the Touch Cruise 2009, not because they make inferior device, but because they butchered up an excellent operating system, and put ugly crap on it like the Sense UI.
I absolutely abhor Sense UI because it is LARGELY inconsistent with the entire WM6.5 feel, and its ugly black colored theme, and it confuses and annoys me, especially the HTC Messaging and Comm Manager and the entire Settings page.
I'd rather have something else like SPB Mobile shell or Wisbar on it. I can flash to ROMs without the SenseUI, but I can't get rid of the other HTC crap like the "Notification" and "Settings" and especially the QWERTY input. I have an Acer S200 which doesn't have the same eyesore as the HD2.
What I would like is to find a rom which has *none* of the HTC stuffs but has the same functionaly. Certain exceptions are completely acceptable like the FM Radio and the Digital Compass. I've tried the Lite ROMs and CleanEX ROMs but there are still remnants of how HTC had butchered WM6.5
Thanks, and excuse me if I sound like I'm griping.

Thanks, bbobeckyj. That is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I really dislike the HTC Touch Input, it drives me nuts. I take the default MS Keyboard over it any day.
try Swype. the ms keyboard is a little hard to use without a s ylus
google: lordyuz & swype
Yup, that's what I've been using on my S200, just figured I'd want to turn off the annoying TouchInput menu. That link works great! thanks.

I totally disagree with that. WTF!
I feel that SenseUI is overcrowded and the one thing that I don't look at often is the thing that takes up half the screen (i.e the weather and the clock). And unless you're familiar with the Manila tabs, you'll have to keep scrolling through the tabs to find what you want. What I DO use often is the text messages, which only requires 1 tap with the default Today screen.
Actually, you can pretty much configure anything to run with 1-2 taps on the default Today screen, all that scrolling makes me dizzy
OK, so I've been using Android for a while with HTC Sense, what user interface differences am I likely to notice when I move to Touchwiz on a Galaxy S3? (I would have gone for the HTX One X - but no removable battery, no SD card?! C'mon!)
I also have a nice physical qwerty keyboard at the moment, so having to use a touch-only keyboard will be a wrench, how bad is it? (I can't really use the on-screen keyboard on my HTC Desire Z at all, I'm just hoping that the slightly larger screen will make a touch keyboard least bearable).

Touching "Weather" on home screen leads to "Weather app" only - no Clock, no Alarm...
Weather then needs three steps (and browser) to show ""Hourly". No animation in Weather app, also.
Ended up removing that widget completely and putting normal clock instead.
Dialer has no AI. Needs a lot of patience. Ended up adding "Direct Dial Widget" for some people I call a lot - can't use dialer at all, it's annoying.
I found no way of copying contacts to Phone all at once, like in Sense. Contact pictures are small and pixelated due to this (used to change Google to Phone contacts on Sense, and reapplying the pics so they stay in full res).
TouchWizz will link contacts properly but will miss their Skype pictures. Further (manual) linking is possible, but a bit more complicated then in Sense 4.
Adding widgets and apps in Sense 4 (I used before) is a lot more straight forward. This is a bit... well, one can get used to it, but it's different. "Hold and drag" instead of simply "Tap". Go figure.
If I remember anything else, I'll add it. Can't help with your keyboard issue, I use screen for it for a while.
So basically Sense is mostly better, but it's fixable with third-party apps. Kinda what I expected; I do like Sense, but HTC have dropped the ball a bit with the rest of the One-X vs. the Galaxy 3S.
The one thing I know I'll miss (stupid I know!) will be the animated weather graphics when you open the home page.
Andre
You can get all that from beautiful widgets and the free animation app at play store. go to getjar for the apk.

I too moved from HTC (previously Desire, Desire HD, SensationXE) to S3.
Missed the most is the HTC signature home page, lots of custom mods and libary of widgets provided by Sense. But nothing can trump replacable battery and uSD card. Take me few hours to get use to Touchwiz and Samsung apps. Now a very happy user of S3.

What you won't miss is the lag with Sense.
As for the keyboard, you just have to go cold turkey. I could suggest trying other keyboards. One or two features I find missing on the keyboard are directional arrows, because it's hard to pin point going back to a word to correct it, and the mic icon for voice to text input... I had a keyboard on my Note that took care of those two and was a bit easier to type on.. Now I forget which one it was and miss it.. lol
Thanks. I use HD Widgets on my tablet, which allows installs onto multiple devices, so I'll try that first - or maybe try Beautiful Widgets for the animations.
Andre
Swype changed my opinion of touch screen keyboards forever. It's almost as fast as having a full sized qwerty keyboard once you know how to use it.
I like sense as well but I'm not buying a phone without a removable battery either. I'm also tired of the sub standard speakers HTC keep using. I'd at least like to hear my phone ring in my pocket.
Think most of the points of difference have been covered already. Touch wiz now also has features of its own lacking in sense. Example is smart stay and some of the other motion control options.
All in all, having used a sensation up until April and a desire hd before that, I'm finding touch wiz to be quite pleasant. It's not nearly as crap as the HTC fan boys like to make out on those forums.
