This is a patched radio ROM that can be used to remove the Operator SIM lock and CID lock from HTC Hermes based telephones.
It can be used in all HTC Hermes devices, the only restriction is that the device must have bootloader version 1.04
Warning:
If you run this upgrade on any other device than HTC Hermes, you will most probably render it DEAD!
Disclaimer:
This is free to use but at your own risk, I take no responsiblity for any conflict, fault, or damage caused to your phone by this unlocking procedure. It may invalidate your warranty.
Full caution is advised.
Website:
http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/
Install Instructions:
Enter bootloader mode on your Phone. To do this, simultaneously hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus.
[You should see SPL-1.04 on the top of the tri-color screen, if you see SPL-1.06 you'll need to downgrade the bootloader]
Connect your phone to your computer using the USB lead.
Run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe program – this will reflash your phone with a patched radio ROM required to unlock.
Wait patiently.
Once the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe upgrade completes, it will end up saying "Upgrade Error 114", but the patched radio ROM will be flashed anyway, dont worry about that error!
Soft reset with stylus (Device will not be hard reset and no data will be lost)
Allow your phone to reboot. Once it has, connect to your PC using Activesync, and copy the HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe program onto your phone. Alternatively, copy it to an SD card and insert into your phone.
Run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on your phone. Wait about 1 minute.
You should see a "SUCCESS!" message from HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe, after that soft reset your phone.
Process is (hopefully) complete!
If the phone requests unlock code when you put a locked SIM, the code is: 22051978.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q - How do I know my bootloader version?
A - When you are on the tri-color screen check the number after SPL-X.XX
Q - How do I downgrade to bootloader 1.04?
A - See this comment. I'm working on an altnative method for all devices, but it's not ready yet.
Q - What is the CID and how do I check which one I have?
A - See this comment.

v2a [14-11-2006] - bugfix release, thanks to all who reported the problems!
(hopefully) fixed bug where unlock code has to be entered manually
(hopefully) fixed bug where SuperCID was not kept after rom upgrades in some cases
v2 [12-11-2006] - updated to patched radio 1.16
unlocking software provided (HERM_Unlock_v2.exe): thanks buzz for the source of UNI_Unlock_v1 ;-)
SuperCID is now kept after rom upgrades
v1 [05-11-2006] - patched radio 1.13
unlock manually
Notes:
- v2a makes SuperCID sticky after ROM upgrades, those who used v1 or v2 and are still running the patched radio only need to run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on the device to keep SuperCID forever.

please keep it up your engineering skill.
best regards,
Dear jarodcn
As I mentioned above I succeed to unlock my X01HT perfectory
by using master POF's solution.
1. down grade bootloader 1.06 to 1.04.
2. then provide POF's method as described in this thread.
all procedures clearly mentioned in his former thread and comment.
Great to see that it is finaly done !
You did an amazing work there! As my device is already unlocked I cannot test, but I am pretty sure that it works flawlessly ;-)
Will this work on T-mobile Vario II
Or is it for HTC devices/ Roms only?
Should work on all Hermes, definately works on Vario II with Dopod Rom.

God job! and how to downgrade bootloader
Hello pof,
I can downgrade bootloader from 1.06 to 1.04 without Radio patch.
Using files:
1) HERMIMG_IPL1.01_SPL1.04_ONLY.nbh ( Special thanks to pof.)
Get this file from xda-forum ftp-site.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Technical/unlocker-reversed.zip
2) EnterBL.exe, GetDeviceData.exe, ROMUpgradeUt.exe, RUU.dll, RUUUI.dll
Get these files from any Shipped_Complete_Updates.
( Run Updates and getting files from temporary folder.)
3) All files in the same folder.
How to:
1) Conect Hermes to your PC
2) Run M3100v3cUnlock.exe without key-file ( no need payment.)
3) When key-file required, close the M3100v3cUnlock window.
4) Run ROMUpgradeUt.exe
Caution:
It's only bootloader downgrade. When anybody get error with
Free SIM unlocker and bootloader 1.06, you can try this method
before unlocking.

Why is the unlocker tied to the RadioROM upgrade? Anyway you can make the unlocker available by itself?
Vodafone Spain
Hi All
Thanks POF for your hard work here. Question: I have an original Vodafone Spain 1605, I haven't made any Rom/Radio Update, how should I proceed?
My HTC info:
Rom Version: 1.20.164.3
Radio Version: 1.03.06.00
Protocol Version: 32.34.7010.01W
I don't understand if I need to update my Radio version first or just follow your process.
Thanks very mcuh
Excellent - congratulations!
Nice work pof! Hermes=OWN3D!
I am flashing right now and will post results. I am on Dutch T-Mobile Vario II with original shipped ROM (Dutch)
I am getting exited
Does this mean that if we keep this patched radio then we always are going to have an Super CID device ?? That basically means replacing the included Radio.nbf with this patched one on any ROM package Or am I missing something ?
Also is this a stable ROM. My VARIO II has/had 1.05.02 ?
Hi,
First many thanks to all people here at the forum who makes the day better and more interesting for mobile nerds like me. I have been lurking around here for a long time and enjoyed every minute of it.
My problem :
Since my x7500 is SIM unlocked and with a standard setup as far as I can see I tried the HTC VM6 Rom flash without CID unlock.
That was stupid. Very stupid, since I don't have the providers orginal ROM available.
My x7500 will not accept the HTC VM6 ROM and is stuck in Bootloader with "USB" at the bottom of the screen when connected to my PC. Hard reset does not start the normal "installation"
When I start the VM6 flash program I get the famous "provider error message"
Is there any possibility to unlock the CID in Bootloader or "flashing" the bootloader to use the original ROM image at my device for a re-install ? In that way I could use the X7500 unlocker in VM5 and then flash to VM6 after.
If not re-installing the original ROM or unlocking the CID is possible I guess my x7500 is seriously bricked.
I am sorry if the answer to my problem can be found in other treads here. I have searched and read a lot without any success. I know now that I should have unlocked the device before trying to flash -> can only blame my one stupidity.
I will be very happy for every advice.
Greetings, Eric

There were four ROMs posted here some time ago. At least one of them didn't require the unit to be SPL / CID unlocked. Try to get hold of one of those - look in the Athena WM6 forum (where this should have been posted)

I suppose you mean this four Rom's :
http://uploaded.de/?id=j2pv51 - ROM ver 2.20
for use with the athena_upgrade program
http://uploaded.de/?id=0v9mm1 - flasher for SuperCID devices only
works only for supercid devices
http://uploaded.de/?id=430xr4 - HTC__001 - version with spl,ipl and etc
works with CID HTC__001 and SuperCid
http://uploaded.de/?id=wbbw2u - T-MOB005 - version with spl,ipl and etc
works with CID T-MOB005 and SuperCid
As I understand my x7500 is not unlocked/superCid'ed and I need a ROM with exactly the same CID as on my device. Or am I far out ?
Or should I be able to use one of them even if the CID don't match ?
Thanks, Erik

Hi Mackaby, thanks for the answer.
That was the first ROM I tried to flash. Gave me error message "wrong vendor, check your update software"
Now I only get bootloader when I start my device. I have(had) a Norwegian ROM so I guess the CID does not match. I wish I unlocked my device before trying the WM6 ROM but......
Now I am stuck : Cannot boot / install my original ROM or install any.
My hope is that I can either unlock my CID in Bootloader or installing the original ROM again with a hard reset. To bad a hard reset only sends me to bootloader.
try this commands in mtty:
set 14 0
task 8
If it doesn't boot OS after this, you need a rom matching your CID. It's not possible to CID unlock it from bootloader.

Bonus pack ? do you mean the CD that followed my x7500 ? I can check but don't think there are any ROM Flash application on that.

If u buy bonus pack with athena which includes car kit etc etc, u also get CDs, in which the ROM is also there..so I was asking if u can get hold of the dealer from whom u hv got and enquire about it..also in mtty issue info 2 command check what is yr CID

That would corrupt the signatures, and it won't flash with an unmodified bootloader.

Thanks EricBr or anyone who can help me,
I have a similar problem, but in my case I didn't do anything to deserve it... I just turned off my new and provider unlocked x7500 after playing with it all day (just installed skype for mobile and customized some settings, tried the programs, etc.), and when I tried to turn it on again, it just froze in the bootloader screen... Nothing works, I tried soft and hard resets, don't know what else to do?
I've been reading al your posts everywhere and tried a few things without succes, when I conect my x7500 to my pc, it doesn't connect to activesync or anything. I guess I would do better if there would be someone who can create a reply that would clearly guide me on what to do and what files (with links) to download. I simply don't know what happened! since I didn't do anything especial to deserve this from my x7500 which I was falling in love with, after only a few hours of just getting to know it.
I'm new to xda's so please lay it down easy on me... Already had removed the sim and the miniSD I had installed on it... still nothing happens.
I must be thick as I have read more posts on this than I have had hot dinners and tried various utilities all to no avail although thankfully my Wizard still seems to work.
My O2 XDA-Mini s is about 2 years old and of course locked to O2 although the device come up as SIM Unlocked but CID Locked.
IPL - 2.21.0001
SPL - 2.21.0001
I am now on the Three network and would just like to get back to using the phone I love rather than the freebie I have now, so I am assuming I need to get CID Unlocked?
Having bothered to get to that stage I would want to scrap the O2 software and upgrade to a better ROM.
Sorry for being so stupid on this, I am hoping someone in the know can take the time to reply.
Thanks in advance
If it's sim unlocked you don't need to CID unlock to enable other sims.
If your new sim is rejected, then the device is still sim locked.
CID is only used for flashing, so if you want to upgrade to the better WM6 roms now available, you'd have to unlock it permanently (hard SPL) or use the Soft SPL.
Good luck,

Thanks for taking time to reply EquinoXe, you have confirmed what I had already thought.
The device reports "Invalid or missing SIM card" with the Three SIM card and WST v4.2.2 reports "Your phone is already SIM unlocked" ??
I do wan't to upgrade the ROM but more importantly I want to get the thing working with the Three SIM card, then I can worry about the ROM.
Any other suggestions will be gladly received.

I have done this twice just recently but my G4 is not asking me to enter any unlock code. I read other threads where people had similar problems so tried a few times, device still comes up "Invalid or missing SIM card"
I ran EnableRapi from the device before running the batch file so I'm not sure what is going on or if it is something quirky about the G4 device??

Strange, according to lokiwiz (and WST) you are sim- unlocked.
But clearly your three sim card won't be accepted.
I do remember that HTC had been messing with the bootloaders, had to downgrade one in order to unlock it too..
Could you Flash a 2.19.0001 (or earlier G4) IPL/SPL ROM and try again?
You can use dharvey4651's thread as a guide to flash the IPL/SPL.
Just ignore the carrier ROMs, and only update (downgrade) the IPL/SPL with one attached to djharvey's thread (preferably the orange, because that one worked for me).
Flashing bootloaders can damage your device beyond repair, please use this method only if you are shure about the process, and know what you are doing. I am not responseble or liable for any damages.
Flash the IPL/SPL (takes a minute), then try again to unlock the phone.
Note: WM6.x needs IPL/SPL 2.19.xxxxx at least (works great with a 2.19), so if you have downgraded to a lower number, you'd have to upgrade again in order to run WM6.x .
Good luck,
EquinoXe

Thanks EquinoXe, I am going to try a T-Mobile, Vodaphone and Orange SIM later to see what results then maybe tomorrow try your last suggestion.
Thanks and I will post any results, hopefully not a flashy paperweight (~:
------------------------------
I have now tried T-Mobile, Vodaphone and Orange SIM cards in the Wizard and all work OK so unlocking was never the problem, obviously O2 is OK also as this was it's original branding.
So the problem is only with the Three SIM, I have an old T610 and T630 which I just put the Three SIM into with the same results.
Need to do a bit more reading on this but I thought this sort of restrictive trading practice went out with the monopolies issues, as it seems at the end of my contract it's not just a matter of me buying a phone of my choice, if I want a new handset I have to go with Three, who interestingly don't do XDA style phones, or change contracts.
More if it happens.
I'm guessing that the reason the 3 sim card won't work is because the Mini S isn't a 3G capable device - 3 is the only network in the UK that's 3G exclusive, hense why other (T-mobile, Vodafone, O2 and Orange) sims will work and the 3 sim card won't.
Hope this helps.
after reading the threads, wiki etc, still i aint able to find a solution. so tried opening up a thread.
well my question is the supercid and sim unlocker v3 by pof on this site requires one to have the spl1.04 ( A MUST ). now if someone, for example, me, has hardspl2.10olipro and would like to unlock the sim, then
1) should i downgrade(or not) to 1.04? if yes, how? or should i run it as such?
2) is there any other better, safer and quicker way than pof's to have sim unlocked?
currently i have
O2 xda trion (herm100)
rom: halloween rom by josh
radio: 1.47.00.00
ipl: 1.04
spl: hardspl2.10olipro
PLZZZZZZZZZZZ DO HELP
Use Pof's tool then re-install Hard SPL V7. You have to downgrade the SPL to sim unlock... Or you can pay to get it done...
thanx for the clarification
now a step forward
so i have to downgrade. the mrvanx guide at mrvanx.org which is i reckon the best guide, has a guide to know how i do it but the spl version 1.04 doesnt download and says that file not found. u may try for urself http://www.mrvanx.org/files/HERM_SPL_1.04_CUSTOMRUU.rar
so really cant head this way.
will u, ultramag69 or anybody else provide me with the file or working link to the file.
anticipating help
Download this - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a.zip
Just run the .exe's. IPL doesn't matter, its the SPL that needs downgrading...
Cheers...
i think i aint getting my point clear enough. my point is that now i have to downgrade as i should not ( or should i ??? ) run the unlocker tool on spl2.10olipro. so for downgrading to spl1.04, i need spl1.04 so that i follow the downgrading procedure. now, i cant find out where should i get this from? the mrvanx.org htc guide has the procedure and the spl but the link to download spl1.04 isnt working and gives me error 404 i,e file not found.
hope i'm clear enough this time and hope u know the way out,
thank u
I also had upgraded to SPL 2.10. You need an SPL 1.40 or less. The link I gave you will downgrade the SPL to this. You can then run the unlock tool successfully. Worked for me.
You may need to run the sim unlocker twice for it to work, there were reports it didn't work properly the first time.
Remember to re-install Hard SPL V7 afterwards... Even if you supercid your device, the benefits Hard SPL give in recovery if something goes wrong is worth it.
Cheers...
still not there
havent unlocked yet. may b i am missing something. i let u know how i try unlocking,
before starting my was 2.10olipro and after i used ur provided link its 1.40olipro ( NOT 1.04 ). afterwards i tried the unlocker tool, ran the manual way as the automatic didnt work for me as i followed everything but nothing happened to the phone i,e no bootscreen, no flashing etc nothing at all.
the manual way was to transfer SSPL/SSPL-HERM.exe to phone and run, tricolor screen appeared this time with different spl than before, then i ran RUU/RUU_HERM_Unlock_v3a.exe and followed flashing. went fine. allowed to reboot.
then transfered HERM_Unlock_v3.exe to phone and ran it. unlock options, sim and cid unlock, ran, process completed, shut down the phone, wait for 10 secs or so, restart the phone
change the sim,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, no sim detected.
i tried this so many time
plz help
Run sim unlocker tool on phone by itself. try 2 times then try new sim.
Don't forget to update your SPL back to Hard SPL V7.
thanx for replying but doing it two times didnt work either.
any other way out?
at last worked out for me.
thanx a lot to ultramag69
i just ran the unlocker innumerable times, but whenever i would change the sim it wont work fine. then just by chance i started playing aroung with the phone and went to the sim programmer ( not the sim manager but the one that is specific for every sim, in programs menu ) and selected couple of services which i thought wont take place, but after a while the signal started appearing and everything was fine then.
now everytime that sim is inserted i have to go through this small exercise but i'll take it, no problem.
glad it happened
thanx to all the members of xda
especially to ultramag69
Hi all. please dont flame me or tell me to RTFM i have used the search button and still not found the answer.
im trying to upgrade a htc x7500 from wm6.1 to 6.5 however every upgrade i try i get unit reboots to bootloader and starts the progress bar but as soon as it gets to 1 % i get curropt file error. (this is with every firmware update i have tried). i also have tried to use the SPLDOWNGRADER and i get the same problem at step one.

Doesn't sound like its fully unlocked yet. Find the unlocker (around here somewhere) and follow all of its steps again.

you must remove your sim and sd card
There is a guide in the AP4 thread that walks you through the similar process
It basically ensures that you have loaded all the drivers to successfuly upgrade/ unlock the phone
here it is
http://www.htc-hackers.com/uploads/AP4_How_To_1.8.pdf
edit :i suspect ther is a problem with enablerapi so try the advice above
thanks AP4 worked a treat now using wm6.5
