Hi. I really dont like the position of the spacebar key on the numeric keyboard of the Rose. It is located on the key 9 (doublepress), but I am used to doublepress the key 0 from my Nokia phone.
Does anybody know, please, how the spacebera can be remaped?
Thanks!
Regards Robert
P.S. Rose is a superb phone, like it very muc.
Exactly; I'd like it to be on the "1" instead of the "#" I guess its only useful for lefthanded people.. I'll either almost drop my phone or break my thumb, lol.).
Any idea's? Already checked the eT9 etc, but no result there.
The numeric keyboard is useful since I don't always wanna type with the keyboard slid open when in the pub
I'd also like to remap a key. When the phone is slid-out the SMS/MMS key and the one next to it with a picture of an envelope on both take you to the SMS inbox. This seems extremely pointless to me and i'd like to remap one to start a blank SMS.
Thanks

i would really like to have the 1 button keyboard as my only soft keyboard for ALL applications. does anyone know a way to imply this?
thanks a lot.
Or modified keyboard
Or possibly modify the touch keyboard so that the full stop & comma are on the 1st page of symbols & the word select area is more finger friendly?
Try the keyboard TouchPal ...is free to use and is great for oane hand use of the phone. I write SMS with it even when driving...
here it is : http://www.cootek.com/
don't know if this helps and if it sets the keyboard to default, but if you press on the little "upper arrow" on the right side to the "20", you can change the kind of keyboard used by the application
I like to have this keyboard too...
anybody know how to type one? my email address has some in it and the only way i can do it at the moment it to close the phone so the soft keyboard comes up and find it in the menu then reopen it again, anybody know if its possible and if so where it can be found?
edit: oops i mean on mini pro
You're serious right?
Press the Sym/àü button on the bottom right... A screen will pop up with all possible other characters.
it does nothing on my phone, i press it and the cursor changes to the same one as when i press the blue button to get numbers, i have got slideit keyboard installed, could it be sometthing to do with that?
I had this issue. Either a: You turned off the option for it in the settings or b: there is a losse connection between the keyboard and motherboard (My problem was the latter). If this is the case, refer to your service centre for repair. (Or strip the phone apart, re-seat the ribbon and reassemble, which is what *I* did, but then again, I do know how to follow warrenty service guidelines so as not to void my warrenty...)
That sym key only works when you have the default input activated. Since you have SlideIt installed, you'll have to long-press on the text area, select 'Input method', choose 'Default', insert the underscore using the sym button, and then reactivate SlideIt. A little bit long winded but that's the only way when you're not using the default input all the time.
That is correct. No third party input application takes into account the sym/au button. I have given the debug log files aswell as the keyid (found in the layout files of the keyboard) of that button to the author of smartkeyboard pro. He has it on his to-do list. Hopefully he can whip up something to fix the problem.
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
i have made my own fix, i added my email address to a slideit keyboard shortcut, now i just type "LJC" and my email addy comes up
cheers for the help though, i thought i was going mad
Hey, how's it going?
I am using an LG Nexus 4 device with the stock Android keyboard. When texting, composing e-mails, or engaging in most functions with a keyboard, there is a smiley key on the bottom left corner next to the period. Is there any way to remove or change that key?
I use the period often, and sometimes hit that smiley key by accident. A few times in the last week, I sent serious messages and, instead of ending the sentence with a period, I ended it with a smiley. Those made for awkward moments.
By the way, I have tried Swype and SwiftKey and prefer the Android keyboard with gesture-typing. I am not interested in installing an app with a supposedly better keyboard.
Thanks,
Vic
I am sorry about bumping this, but this I really dislike the smiley key.
I've tried everything I can think of to change it other than using an app's keyboard (I like the default Jelly Bean keyboard and do not want to change it).
If anyone has ideas, please help! This is one area of the Android system that I'd like to change.
Thanks,
Vic
Swype used to have a delete key on the "sub menu" (Swype left to right on bottom 2 keys), but it's not there anymore.
All I really want is a keyboard with a custom dictionary and a forward delete key. number row would be nice, but I can live without it.
Suggestions?
I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the Gesture Input in particular. Strike rate for arriving at intended word is perhaps 50%. More annoyingly once an incorrect(or any) word is entered, the system always deselects the suggested word and adds a space. Therefore you have to backspace numerous characters to correct it. And yes, I have unchecked "Automatic space" under Symbols & smileys.
Whereas on my Nexus 5x the strike rate for correct word is nearer 90% AND if an unintended word does get entered it is only ever a single press of the backspace key to clear it and start again. ie the entered word remains selected until the next action occurs and no following space is entered until then. Much better arrangement in my opinion.
For now I have disabled Gesture input as it is not working satisfactorily for me on this small Z5c screen. Frustrating because quick and simple text input is a key usability feature for me. If I get frustrated with the keboard every day I will get sick of the handset very soon. Made worse for me because the Nexus 5x I have been evaluating does such a terrific job of it, accentuating the shortcomings of the Xperia keyboard on the Compact.
Does everyone find the Xperia Keyboard satisfactory in the Compact phone footprint?
I'm having a similar issue. I'm use to using the CyanogenMod keyboard from my old rom with its own gestures. The other nice thing is that it has the symbols on the keys like the xperia keyboard where the google one doesnt for some reason.
Mine's working fine. Infact it has even picked up the Bangla words that I've used so far and so this is making one handed typing extremely easy for me. Well I have been using the xperia keyboard for like 3 years at a stretch now and maybe that's why I'm so used to it
I have been using this keyboard for about a month and still have not gotten use to it. The gesture swiping is only correct maybe 25% of the time at most. I've resorted to just typing more often now. I'd switch to the google keyboard but it lacks symbols on they keys.

With the Google keyboard you can hold down the symbol button and the symbols will appear on their respective keys. Then you can slide over to the symbol you want.

yeah, I know I can do that, but I'm use to holding down the key. I have to be somewhat precise with the sliding to the correct button so its easy to be off by one. I suppose I have the same risk just pressing and holding but I figure its easier to be precise when pressing a button directly vs stopping a slide.
