First off, I need to thank everyone on this site for the wealth of information that is contained here. I took my stock XV6800 and walked through several tutorials and I've put on 4 different ROM's in 2 days, all of them with the GPS functioning like a champ and everything on the phone running swimmingly.
A special thanks to mr-free for his prompt responses and dcd for his excellent guides.
Anyway, I've already used two kitchens so far to make custom roms (Titan Kitchen 6.5 Beta 4, and Titan Reloaded 1.3.2). Both create very usable ROM's but there's aspects of each that I like better than the others. Since Kitchen 6.5 uses WM 6.5, I'd like to start with that one, but there are several OEM packages that I would like to add to it from Titan Reloaded, as well as a couple of other ones that I've found from the web.
And so I'm not flamed, I have searched and found the following information about Alex's Cooking Kits helpful, but still not completely sufficient to answering my questions:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser ROM Kitchen Tutorial
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Alex's Cooking Kits
And on to the questions:
1) Is it possible to just copy the folders from the OEM folder of the Titan Reloaded 1.3.2 kitchen into the OEM folder of the 6.5 Beta 4 Kitchen and have them show up in the "BuildOS" menu?
2) Are the instructions in Alex's Cooking Kits applicable to the Titan? Its geared towards the Kaiser, and I couldn't find anything that would lead me to believe it is compatible with the Titan. If not, is there a "Cooking Kit" suitable for the Titan?
I'm not to the point where I'm capable of creating my own OEM packages, but I'm gunning for that too eventually. No questions on that though...yet.
The only question I can help with is your first. The OEM packages from Titan Reloaded 1.3.2 should be able to be copied into pretty much any kitchen.
Note that the Manila_2d_Scott OEM from Titan Reloaded kind of depends on the SYS\dcd_UCAutorun package, as it installs the first M2D theme from CAB at boot. This may be fixed in later versions by making a seperate config.txt for m2d. That way the OEM package will be more portable.
Note that the Youtube package from Titan Reloaded also requires the YTFIX package, but those will hopefully be merged in later versions.
Other than that, you just need to watch out for conflicting packages. Usually buildos will give you errors if this happens, so you'll know.
Awesome, that's really helpful.
Actually m2d is not something I was planning on keeping anyway. I'm moving from a Samsung i760 (dreadfully unhackable) but in an attempt to make it more usable, I actually paid for SPB Mobile Shell, and SPB Phone Suite. I've gotten quite addicted to using them and I don't find m2d to be a sufficient replacement for primarily the lack of ring profiles. Ring/Vib/Silent just isn't enough for me. (And PhoneAlarm doesn't have what I need either.)
What I was looking to move though was:
Adobe Reader 2.5
YouTube (with the YTFIX, now, obviously)
HTC Album
Tweak_Volume_Higher
no2chem_nueExtROM
There aren't any dependencies there that I need to be aware of, are there?
I couldn't find Google Maps in the OEM folder from Titan Reloaded but its no big deal, I can download it I guess.
I guess I should have mentioned that to use the no2chem_nueExtROM package, you'll need to add these lines to the bottom of ROM\XIP\boot.rgu.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ EXT_FLASHDRV]
"DefaultFileSystem"="FATFS"
"Name"=""
"PartitionDriver"=""
"MountHidden"=dword:0
"Folder"="Extended_ROM"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ EXT_FLASHDRV\FATFS]
"FormatTFAT"=dword:1
"EnableWriteBack"=dword:1
"EnableCache"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ EXT_FLASHDRV]
"DriverPath"="Drivers\\BuiltIn\\EXT_FLASHDRV"
"LoadFlags"=dword:1
"Order"=dword:12
"Bootphase"=dword:2
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\EXT_FLASHDRV]
"Profile"="EXT_FLASHDRV"
"Index"= dword:1
"Dll"="OEM_FLASHDRV.dll"
"Prefix"="DSK"
"Order"=dword:13
"IClass"=multi_sz:"{A4E7EDDA-E575-4252-9D6B-4195D48BB865}"
It's possible that this is what's causing some people problems with Titan Reloaded 1.3.2 though. If you've already used Titan Reloaded 1.3.2, you probably don't have to worry about this. It might not even be the cause though. Most people are having no problems with it.
Also, based on someone's post in the 6.5 ROM thread, you'll likely want to remove this file from the kitchen before adding in an adobe reader package:
SYS\OEMAPPS\ppc_adobereaderle.exe
Titan Reloaded installs GoogleMaps from CAB during customizations. Since Google is likely to upgrade the app often, I'd recommend that you just download it and install like you said.
Those are the only caveats I can think of for the packages that you mentioned.

x2 .. I find that loading programs as CABs or during customizations
is a damm cool and a better idea then loading it all in the ROM,
just having that options to remove something is a very good feeling lol
FYI: I got the ok from s10onn2o to upload a clean built 6.5 beta ROM
not kitchen .. the ROM is what I use .. got a few things fix and a few more stuff
cleaned up.. also has some basic missing apps, WM Office 6.1 + notes, Adobe,
sweet TF2D dialer, etc.. etc..

Heh, I've got a little more patience than "Give it to me now!" but yes, this does sound very nice. The omission of Office was also something that was really bugging me about 6.5.
In the meantime I ended up playing around with PPCkitchen and WOW are there a lot of packages. Too many actually. It takes me 15 minutes to go through them all. The build I'm running today is pretty good, but I still wish I was running WM6.5. I'm sure I'll come across your ROM once you've got it uploaded. XDA is rapidly becoming one of my favorite sites (and not to mention a huge time sink!!)
Anyone can add office to 6.5. Just get the oem from BuildOS and put it in the oem folder for beta 4,
Wow, its that easy huh?
I think I'll just do that then! This place rules!

Hey guys, its angel12 from ppcgeeks. Just had some time tonight to work on my kitchen and get a new rom up hope this one works as well as my last one did. Whole new kitchen, had some help from neman on ppcgeeks, as well as llama, and a huge thanks to DCD!
heres what it includes:
flash lite
flash player
wmirc
allmobilemines
dopewars
dotfred task manager
jbed java
htc home 2.1
null keyboard
sipchange
htc random access
htc cube (includes ftouchflo)
wmwifirouter
flash vid bundle
musicid
tcpmp
alarmclock
calender plus
call firewall / wifi hitchhiker
tasks plus
whirlwind 21
mms 3
pocket rar
vistahide batt gauge
wktask
total commander
msvc
and a couple extra goodies
HOW TO:
flash new spl (if you havent already)
flash new radio (if you havent already)
flash new rom (if you havent... oh wait, duh)
on first boot, soft reset before customizations run, then hit yes as it tries to fun ftouchflo and sipchange (you shouldnt have to do this again)
enjoy!

I had to downgrade the mms because i could not get it working. Might take a look at it today. Couple of bugs so far:
Cant use d-pad to select tabs in any program (usually once you get to the bottom of the icons it would start to select the tabs)
Aligning screen after first boot locks the device.
if you have any more bugs please post them here!
Also, if you live in a Rev. A area, please let me know if you are getting Rev. A speeds!
looks that im to be the first to test, if your uploading now of coarse.
rom is up
wats the pass for the ftp?

Awesome work angel12! We need to figure out RevA for VZW
Yeah, i know. Ive talked to a couple people that have it working, and they are "young" in the forums, so i doubt they had to do anything special. Which is just weird that ours doesnt work.
Any plans on making a Sprint ROM?
Thanks,
All of this rocks.
I upgraded to your newest. I actually like your last Rom better. Better dialer, large start menu, Touch Calc, etc. Are any of those coming back in?
Could someone answer these two questions for me. Because I am sure kitchens are coming soon.
1. What is the advantage or disadvantage of putting a program in the Rom as opposed to adding it as a .cab install? Speed?
2. Say a newer program such as Live Search or S2U2, where new versions are coming out more often. Would those be better as an install or ROM. What happens when Microsoft Live is in a ROM and then they push a new version to you?
Thank you for answering these questions. Again thank you for this work !!!!!

this is my first with a rebuilt kitchen, those items are coming back, i just didnt realize they were missing until today
and putting programs in rom is nice when you have to do a hard reset, that way all your programs are already there but there are clean roms like DCD's that are bare bones, that way you can customize it exactly how you want it.
Thanks for that reply. The things that you put on are the things that I want anyway. I do not want anything stripped, the was boring and not anywhere as useful with out all of this.
So putting apps on the Rom has the only advantage of hard resets? They do not boot faster or operate faster?
Again, thanks so much!
Angel, keep up the awesome job. Great package man. You gotta make an AngelUpdate icon so we can subscribe to all your updates.

thanks
thanks falling up er... angel12

Please forgive this noob question, but what is the advantage to installing something as OEM with a cooked ROM versus installing it later as a cab? I would think cabs are better because they are more flexible - you can uninstall or update or change them later. But I know I'm wrong, because there is so much desire for OEM out there!
Any insight?
Ivan

It's all preference. With UC integrated into the newer roms, I prefer cabs much more than OEM's. Others will swear by OEM's. I share dcd's opinion that the rom should be cooked clean, with hardly anything added in. With cab installs, you can add/remove at your leisure, and you are also able to troubleshoot issues with specific software without having to reflash every 2 seconds.
Great response and exactly along my own lines of thought. Glad to know I wasn't crazy for prefering cabs.
Sleuth255's UC with CABs for the win!
...This reminds me that a Wiki should be made up for UC and the script routines.
also, with adding oem's all the program files end up in the windows folder bloating it and can slow down the whole system. with cab's, they go into their own folders in program files or wherever.
UPDATE FOR NEW USERS: Please read the entire first two posts on this thread before asking questions. Many questions have been answered at the release of the ROM a couple months ago. I tired to keep the major questions updated below. If anything needs clarification from a newb perspective please PM. Its easy for ROM builders to take things for granted so I apologize if I left out anything pertient. Remember you will have to deal with Damager if you post a question that was answered here! I dont even want to do that ;c)
**Many thanks go out to Damager and bitserve for keeping up the thread! Ive been really busy lately. I have about 5 big or growing posts spanning two sites and three phones. Not to mention I have a real job too!

Round 4 Reloaded highlights: (More info to include credits to follow later!!!)
+DCD 3.2.6 Base kitchen with base comm manager and base dialer. Upgrades included for a "Diamond" look if you so choose.
+ With or without ROM Pack and Themes.
You can choose Reloaded "Loaded Edition" or "Economy Edition" and of course a Kitchen is coming soon....
Loaded has everything you see to include the ROM pack and the extra themes.
Economy does not have the extra M2D themes nor the ROM pack.
Kitchen has everything of course.
+M2D "Scott's theme" by default. Older White Diamond and 11 more included. White Diamond was the predominate favorite before this one.
+HTC Album, HTC Audio Player, Google Maps 2.2.0.20 preinstalled and functioning with M2D. Tabs are disabled by default. Must enable them in M2DC (Customizer).
M2DC (Customizer) pre-installed and MUCH MUCH more stable than the previous builds.
+ROM pack. You get an installable ROM pack. It includes the following apps and will place the installer in a ROM Pack folder in My Documents. From there you can choose what to install if anything. The ROM pack includes:
All DCD Carriers
Matching Diamond Dialer and Com manager for "My Theme"(screen shots)
Older Touchflow finger scroll app
HTC X Button (Task Manager button)
Large Title Bar
Large Start Menu
VistaHide Battery gauge cabbed up by me
Memory
*M2D Enabled, Fresh Boot, Oxios Hibernate ran first - Free RAM: 21.99
*M2D Disabled, Fresh Boot, Oxios Hibernate ran first - Free RAM: 25.45
*Requirements:
+ NueSpl 2.47, olipro 2.40/ I reocmend the first as it is much easier to install.
+ Radio 2.3.3x or higher. Look at my sig block to see what I am running. What I run is what I prefer and recomend you run.
+ Working and hopefully prior exp in flashing custom ROMS. Many new flashers for the first time have followed the GA Medic link and uised it to flash the ROM. They all had great success. We can only help sop far so we recomend that new people research hard before flashing for the first time. If you have flashed to a custom GPS ROM already then this is no different. With all that being said.... What you do is your repsonsibility and not me or any memomber of theo forum or theo forum itself. We will however tryto help you as best we can and I have yet to say a flash go bad we couldnt fix in no time. Post your problems in the forum. Alot fo people with experience read it and answer some questions that are tough even for me ;C)
**You must install a DCD Carrier CAB which is included in the ROM Pack for all carriers before your data connection will work.
Pics:
1. Default theme for M2D
2. Added Dialer from the ROM pack, otherwise it will be stock DCD.
3. Added Comm manager from the ROM Pack, otherwise it will be stock DCD.

Bugs and Fixes
Issue #1: Installing the Opal Comm Manager causes duplicate icons on the Connections Control Panel.
Fix: Install the attached cab instead. Its fixed. I removed the registry settings causing the duplicate icon.
Note: You can uninstall the old COM Manager and install this as a fix. You will not need to hard reset.

Tips Tricks and How To's - Updated 12 Nov 2008 at 11:00am
1. 12 Preloaded themes will keep you busy. You can easily switch between themes using the M2DC program. Its an excellent program that helped inspire me to do this ROM. Check out his page. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392
2. I attached the latest version of the customizer. Seems 100% compatible with the ROM. Use my repacked cab becuase the original wont install correctly with this ROM! Nothing to do with the app itself its how the ROM is built. My CAB installs to the ROM location and not the original location of the app. Dont worry, works great! Original: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392&highlight=manilla
3. Use the NEW ATTACHED customizer to utilize Internet Explorer instead of Opera!!!! Works GREAT!
4. Make your phone jump to the home screen whenever you choose. You can do this by remapping a soft button to the <Today> command. See my screenshot. I programmed the command to my Messaging button. Everytime I press messaging it returns to the home screen! Tight or what???
5. Change the default Softkeys on the Home screen. Use the customizer to do this. See my screenshots.
I added google adsense to my website. See this single post for the details ;c)

Kitchen is coming soon as well as the lite version. I just have to get them uplaoded. About 1/2 more hour.
Try the rom and tell me what you think for now... Something to do anyways untill the kitchen is up. I will Bump it from third upload to second.... Hang tight...
scott i realize you are busy tonight.
i'm one of the ones that asked for more "calendar room". I just noticed your "reloaded" and dcd 3.3.4 are out at the same time and noticed it this evening.
Do you ever think there will be any more calendar room available on the home tab where the clock doesn't take up so much room?
also...any other responses on battery drain?

Both ROMS just came out today.
As far as the calendar that is not within my ability at this time. The program is built to work the way it is. I cannot actually modify the core program itself. I can only tweak the themes and overhead it takes like most customizable apps. I have three fortune 500 companies for clients as a help desk manager. I understand your issues with seeing all your appointments. Have you ever thought setting a reminder an hour to 24 hours in advance? That might help? Trust me as soon as someone hacks this portion of the app I will be the first to incorporate it.
As far as the battery drain you are the only one reporting the issue. I dont know what to tell you on that. Try swapping back to a stock ROM and load up manila manually and run for a few days. Do some variations of such. Tell me how your battery is. Mine will go well more than 24 hours with this set up. Usually 36 to 48 before its dead.

Oh man.. What a tough tough decision to make. Try the 3.3.4 or go with your Reloaded... Hmm.. I hate decisions. Did you have any luck by replacing your kitchen xip with the os.nb.payload you dumped from 3.3.4?
Man.. if it was an easy change to 3.3.4 from 3.2.6 in your kitchen, I would be in heaven!!!
Thanks for the work!

IM working on it but not getting anywhere. May may have to wait untill DCD releases the new ktichen. Tweaking XIP's is not my thing (yet!). Tweaking OEMS and working kitchen files.... thats my thing!
BTW Is that where the XIP comes from and if so where do I put it?
awesome rom so far. still testing.
running smooth like crazy and everything is very fast. i'm loving your theme though. still customizing and getting back thngs.
btw is the kitchen 100% tonight? if so, i'll jsut test and fix everything when the kitchen is released
From what I understand, there shouldn't be any XIP tweaking needed. As DCD has mentioned, all you have to do is replace the os.nb.payload in your kitchen with the one dumped from the 3.3.4 tear down. Copy/Paste.

Scott’s VZW ROM - Working VZ Navigator (eRice kitchen v1.03.7) - Rev 1 out!
UPDATE 19 DEC 2008 @ 18:00 Central Time. New ROM is out. Consider this thread discontinued. Files will be on the website for historical purposes. I would recomend upgrading to my latest ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461524
UPDATED 12 Dec 2008 @ 19:00 Central Time
** You will need to dial *22899 after you flash to reprogram. Do this before anything else.
** Other model phones from other carriers will loose custom EPST settings per NexVision's testing.
REVISION 1 Changes at the end of this modified original post
This ROM IS FOR VZW USERS ONLY!
Greetings fellow VZW users. My first creation for us is Custom a ROM based off of eRice’s kitchen in this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=46965.
ROM Info:
**The ROM I created is nearly identical to the “STOCK” ROM with a couple minor additions and an upgrade to the core CE OS files to version 5.2.20931. I pulled all the apps and drivers from the leaked VZW ROM in this into the eRice kitchen from this post: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741
**I stripped out the Sprint drivers and applications from the eRice kitchen and added the VZW drivers and Apps from the VZW leaked ROM. It was fairly seamless to do. I tested VZ Nav and it worked great!
** This ROM is considerably more smooth than the stock ROM and more responsive in most applications including Touch Flow. No, it doesn’t fix our missing memory problem but I dont think you will notice it as much now. What makes it great is it is based on the 20931 CE OS but retains the 100% stock look via proper drivers and applications.
**VZ Navigator runs well on this ROM!
As far as I know this is the first “Custom” ROM with any sort of GPS for the XV6850.

Added DotNET CF 2.0 along side DotNet 3.5. DotNet 2.0 installs first then ver 3.5 via Autoinstall (CONFIG.TXT in extended package OEM for the kitchen users.) I bieleve either could be removed but not truly sure. DotNet 3.5 was needed for Advanced Config.*Note - Selecting dotNet 3.5 in the KITCHEN will cause problems! Dont do it unless you proplery modify config.txt to not load them in the AutoRUN.
Removed IE 6.1 (Breaks My Button Setup!)
Removed JetPrint Bluetooth printing (whatever it is called, not sure)
Fixed My Button Settings not launching from the Settings Tab in Manila
Fixed Voice Command> I added it back in. Go to "Settings -> Voice Command" to turn it on before it will RUN!
Kept HTC YouTube
Kept HTC Network Plug in
Kept Internet Sharing
*All Three of these are from the eRice Kitchen. Big thanks to eRice for all 3!
No other installed programs than those listed and the VZW OEM apps.
The ROM is now pretty close to Stock which was the goal. This should be the last revision unless someone finds a major bug.
AS always, please report bugs and any thing you like as well.

Mad Thanks go out to eRice, Commenex and ImCoKeMan for making this possible! Without them none of this would exist!
UPDATED 12 Dec 2008 @ 19:00 Central Time
Basic Installtion Instructions
Download ROM and extract to desktopp (Now includes RUU). Start the ROM Upgrade Utility and follow instructions Flashes just like ANY other phone or ROM. Flashing will destroy ALL data on phone. Always sync with ActiveSync before starting the upgrade utility OR place your phone in bootloader mode (Power, VolDown, and reset)
A call to *228 or *22899 (automated activation line) WILL BE REQUIRED for normal usage! This is true of ALL ROM's and even a simple hard reset of the Verizon stock ROM.
Before you flash you MUST be unlocked. I do not support the unlock process or the software but I can tell if you that if you follow the instructions at the link it works perfect.
Link to unlocker is here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42503
Link to ROM and RUU is here: http://www.scottcrosler.com/
Bugs so far:
Wiped Clean on new revision
**Here is where you will see gains with this ROM over stock...
1. Navigating through menu's, especially the settings menu.
2. Smoothness of TF3D (debateable depending on the tabs.) First time will be slow for EVERY device if you leave ALL the tabs enabled. Each tab is a like a sep app that has to load when you select it. After the tabs are loaded you will see even more gains over the stock ROM.
3. File explorer. Go to the Windows folder. No further explanation needed there, trust me. The stock file explorer took nearly 15 seconds to load Windows. This does it almost instantly.
Updated Kitchen Files!
This is for the eRICE KITCHEN. This is not my own Kitchen but an add on of VZW OEM files to the eRice kitchen.
Its the OEM pack that I used to create this ROM. Its what I stripped out of the VZW leaked ROM. I added just a couple OEMs that are not in the cooked ROM. I dont have the original OEM's broken out! IF anyone wants to break it down further like eRice did with his original kitchen let me know and I will host it on my site.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR KITCHEN SET UP:
Download and extract (to desktop) eRice 1.03.07 kitchen from here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42796
Delete the entire OEM folder from inside the kitchen!
Download and extract the VZW OEM folder from www.scottcrosler.com and place it in the eRice kitchen as to replace the one you just delted. I made one minor change to the pure VZW OEM folders.I dropped the phonecanvas XML provisioning file into OEM apps. i think it supposed to be in SYS but I dont know.... It works fine the way it is. If you have never heard of the file then ignore this part of the post.
Start RaphealKitchen.CMD and follow instructions.
***Do not select DotNET 3.5 in the kitchen!!!. It is enabled by default, delelect it. Will cause issues.
I will try to support the kitchen as much as possible. Please do not bother eRice with this hybrid kitchen as I am sure he will not support my hybrid creation.
Thank eRice for this kitchen.
Thank the original poster of this thread for the leaked ROM I worked with:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741. Not sure who posted it.
Thank me for putting it together!
I AM NOT TAKING CREDIT FOR ANY OF THE FILES. I do however take credit for converting to VZW OEM.
Should there be a link to your ROM here?
Are there instructions on how to flash?
Like putting phone into bootloader mode or anything else necessary?
Does the unlock process wipe the phone or does only the ROM update wipe?
Anyone tried this yet? Any reviews?
It's a lot of work to reinstall everything and to re-apply my special settings, even though I've been documenting what I've done.
Also, I was thinking of trying that Telus radio. Can I still try that on this? Does a radio update/change wipe the device clean or that's non-destructive?

I updated the second post with the steps you need. Sorry was trying not to get flamed on my thread. Someone over at PPCGeeks flamed me for pretty much no reason other than the fact that they could. It only stopped me from releasing my ROM over there. Oh well. There loss. Too bad because there are some really good people over there. The eRice kitchen was perfect in every aspect of a ktichen. I was never so impressed. Impressed enouhg to download the leaked ROM and portover the VZW software ;c) Its a nice change over the stock CE OS. If you flash let me knwo what you think.
Hi Scott,
I've been lurking on both forums since I got my Titan last December. I have learned much from everyone here and over at PPCG: these are the best resources by far for those of us into our phones and the tech behind it.
I agree that you were treated less than "professionally" over at PPCG, and hope that you will continue to work on the VZW TP/XV6850. Thanks for this great use of Eric's kitchen tools and stock ROM, along with your knowledge on how to get them all working for us! My take from the eRice thread is that he has no issue whatsoever with you using his stuff, and in fact he welcomes it for us VZW stepchildren... hehe.
This ROM does indeed kick arse, and hopefully GC and others will figure out the PRI lockdown and we will all have an amazing little machine to play with: it is w/o a doubt a much slicker device than the Titan, and I dug that little unit for the better part of a year
Cheers Pal

You've installed this ROM? Is the difference completely obvious?

You know what Dude, that is all I needed for motivation! You verizon users have some serisou **** instore for you ;c) Thanks for the positive feedback! Im motivated again!
They will figure out the PRI crap. It will take time. I wish skywing would port over his adapter program. I could incormporate that and we would have 100% GPS just like everyone else. He stated in his thread he was not interested in doing so. Thats a huge loss for us that we never even had ;c(
For the record!
For the record:
I have always asked permission before I redistribute any item found here. I asked DCD for his kitchen when I posted my R4R ROM for the Titan's.
I asked eRice specifically if I could port his stuff over for VZW users. His response was:
"if you can get the sprint carrier files split from the rom/kitchen and include the vzw ones, more power to you. that's what this forum is about. sharing ideas and results and improving on them for the benefit of everyone."
Its posted here. Just for the record ;c)

A few people have tried on PPCGeeks with great success as posted above.
Keep it coming. Two things to note. And YES I Just installed this ROM.
First, I had to *228 (not surprised but it is required to get data connections to work. This has been true for every ROM i've played with as well as custom ROM's i've built in the kitchen.)
Second, Comm Manager is missing from the slider menu with TF3D enabled. (Although still accessible via the keyboard shortcut.)
I will play some more and let you know what else I find. Thanks.

The comm manager TAB or the comm manager link in the settings Tab? Its just fine for me. There is no Comm manager TAB in VZW version of TF3D.
I see you use the PPC Kitchen. That does have the Comm Manager Tab and you are used to that. This version is stragiht ripped from the ROM. No changes AT ALL. The stock phone doesnt have COmm manager Tab.
How about responsiveness?
Launching VZ Nav opened Opera and downloaded the CAB. CAB launched got to privacy screen but complained about not being able to save privacy settings. Only option is to lick OK. You are then brough tto the "default" VZ NAV error screen telling you there was a problem with your GPS device. I do have the CAB for VZ NAV now however.
Re-Launching VZ NAV produces the same result. Unable to save privacy and crashes out.
My mistake. You're right. I've gone through so many ROM's that it's a blur. The "Communications" link is still under the "Settings" tab in TF3D as it should be.
So far responsiveness is good. I have not configured the settings for my "regular" business use however.
Perhaps the reason VZ NAV will not install is because it's the official signed version?

No, It always crashes twice at the initial set up, even on the Stock ROM. Its a crappy program I know! Try it a third time and you are good from then on. If not let me know and I will upload the Cab that I have. Nothing special about it though.
EDIT: I relfashed my phone, installed and it worked for me. It still does the three times to load problem. Two GPS errors for me. Then the third time it starts. THis is the EXACT behavior of the stock ROM.
bkurek,
How do you "go through so many roms"? Isn't it an hour or more to reinstall all of your apps and personal settings or is there some easier way that I'm missing?
I can't restore with SPB Backup, right?
Would you say this rom is noticeably faster?

You MAY be able to restore with SPB back up. MAY being the keyword. You can always try it. It wont hurt anything. Worse case scenraio; Hard reset.
I will let bkurek answer the respoinsiveness question. Anything from me woudl be purely biased ;c)

That's true. Since it's basically the stock ROM, I might have a shot. I guess the one thing that might be a problem would be your IE6 update.

I go through them because I enjoy doing so and I'm looking for what *I* want. Yes it can be that long but I don't go through all the motions until I've found the right combination/foundation to build on. I did not for instance configure ALL of my email accounts or setup active synch in vista, etc etc
Yes it does feel very snappy but just like anything else you'll find it to be faster today and go back to *****ing about how slow it is tomorrow. It's a matter of perception in the end. You'll always want more. I'm actually more interested in a stable build than a faster one because I already know it'll never be as fast as I want it to be. I have experienced a myriad of stability issues that if I don't find a remedy for I will return this phone. They manifest mostly in the messaging components at this time. I have not had to soft reset a phone this much since 1990-something. Speaking of which, as a completely uninteresting side note, I have not posted to a forum since early 1990-something but the point is that I do like this device and would like to see it improved upon is why I am taking the time to post now. It’s a cool phone. Give it some time. Someone, somewhere will make it faster and more stable. I think.

Interesting. My stock did not have this problem but it came pre-loaded with VZ NAV. Third time is the charm.
Program files and things I don't want to lose always go to main for me.
Ok, so I finally did it, I flashed a cooked ROM to my Fuze. Whew! I did run into a snag or two, but all is good now and I am even ready to try another one to see some of the differences.
I do have a couple of questions though. Flame me if you must, I can take the heat. However, trust me when I say, I read everything on this site.
1. I chose a "no manilla" version...why did it still have to do the "initial setup of touchflo interface..."? I thought Manilla was TouchFlo and therefore wouldn't need to be there at all. Since I really like SPB MS3, I didn't want anything TouchFlo.
2. I would like to try an NRG ROM, but I still can't quite grasp what customRUU is. Am I free to flash one of these with just the HardSPL that I already did? Or do I need somethign else before flashing one that has this in the folder?
3. Since I am still trying to catch up with what's available out there now...what the heck is CHome? At first, I thought someone mispelled that Google browser thing, but soon figured out that can't be it.

Welcome to the wonderful and addictive world of customized ROMs. It's one of the best ways to get the most from your Raphael, but sometimes we see things that 'aren't quite right' since they haven't gone through the rigor that vendors put their ROMs through. But then again, we get to play with the new, neat stuff!!!
As I understand it, Manila is HTC's interface/Today skin for the Raphael. You don't have to use it, but most ROM's will have it cooked in, so you'll need to go through the 'setup' as the ROM is first booted on your machine. If you don't want to use it, just go to the Today screen settings and de-select the TF entry.
CustomRUU is the application you run to do the actual install from a PC. There's no need to play with it all, just run it, and everything should happen automagically. There's also an option to run the install from a loaded SD card on the unit itself, but I stick to the Activesync connection version myself.
Sorry, can't help with CHome... I have no idea what that is either.
As I said -- welcome!
Therefore you are?

ASFAIK, CHome is the new Today interface for Windows Mobile 6.5.

Do you mean the Stylus Alignment? If so, you should always perform a stylus/screen alignment.
Do you mean the G-Sensor Calibration? If so, you should perform the calibration; although you may not use TF3D, many application can "leverage" the G-Sensor capabilities of the device.

I thought that was 'Titanium'
congratulations
Here ya go:
ConfettiCore is the underlying display component shared between Start Menu and Today screen.
CHome is the Today screen itself.
Titanium is the skin; alternatives are Bronze, Neo.
HTH,
* EDIT *
Thanks Da_G for your ever so wonderful wisdom and knowledge about all that is Windows Mobile ...
CHome and Titanium are somewhat interchangable. They both refer to the new 6.5 "Default" interface. If you have CHome installed on your ROM, go to Start>Settings>Today>Items and check "Windows Default". Everything else will uncheck itself. Now you can see CHome in action. CHome is new and ofcourse not yet released by Microsoft, so it is not flawless. Showaco has made a great tool for editing CHome so that you can control what is on the today screen. It takes bit of playing to figure it out, but give it a go. I really have become hooked on the simple effeciency of CHome.
As for the Initial Setup of Touch Flow, this is a left over from a previous ROM. Most of the ROM chefs, do not bother changing the set-up screens because they do not matter. They are simply something to display while the phone configures itself. Other Chefs seem to enjoy changing this screen, so results may vary. In any event, no need to worry.
RUU is the wrapper that installs your ROM image on the phone. When you download a rom and unzip it into a folder, there usually are 2 files, the RUU and the NBH file. The NBH file is the real ROM image. The RUU or Wrapper is what installs it to the phone. If you unzip a ROM and the wrapper is missing, simply copy it from a different ROM you have unzipped and add it to the folder with teh NBH file you want to flash. The RUU/Wrapper does not change from ROM to ROM, only the NBH changes. With both the RUU and the NBH in a folder, launch the RUU and it will load the ROM in that folder.
HARD SLP is the first step that will allow you to Flash Custom ROMS. AFTER you Hard SPL according to the directions, choose a ROM, download, unzip and launch the wrapper. You must be attached via activesync. After that, off you go.
Enjoy. Every ROM is like getting a new phone.

Now on to the next step doing that radio flash.
Excellent, Good to see a fellow Charlottean getting hooked on flashing.

Charlotte?
DAMN! For months, I had been thinking "if only one of these XDA guys lived here, he could show me how to do this and I wouldn't be terrified of bricking my phone"...and here you are?!?!?
Actualy, Titanium is the base WM 6.5 user interface\homescreen, chome refers to the dll plugin being utilized by Titanium. chome was ported from the WM 6.1 slidding panels interface made for smartphones and has been optimized by Showaco and others to offer more pluggin options with Titanium!
Manila 3D is HTC's user interface it is used in conjuction with touchflo but they are different things kind of, touchflo just refers to being able to scroll with your fingers and how the physics engine operates.
RUU stands for ROM Update Utility, it creates a bridge to your bootloader from your PC to flash through Active Sync\ Device Manager.
Hope this helps some!
