At this moment, Only Ankit is working on 6.5 ROMs, so i guess you dont have much choice. I will begin working after the RTM arrives.
But I will suggest to avoid using WM 6.5 beta till RTMs arrives, because Menus and Cursors are HUGE in the ROMs . Look ugly, atleast to me . But then, thats my opinion.
ya the roms have been ported from VGA so some remainents of that are visible here and there. I dont know about uglyness but i cant bear hangs. The older version use to hang my phone sometimes for no reason. I am better off with 6.1 build 21109 till the RTM arrives

Really LOL .
I used your 6.5 ROM for around three days or so (thats pretty long for me, you know better ), but it did not hung once . And at my rate of flashing, you know that I am fiddling my device all the time.
you really read between the lines. lol. ya i know you have the true tester spirit in you anyways, i dont know but i dont have good feelings about having beta software on my phone, specially the OS. On computer, its fine as you are in more control of it, but on phone, once you flash a rom, you loose control of the os internals and if anything goes bad, you just have to remove the bug and reflash, and for me thats a very long process (approx 2-3 hours coz of the amount of software i install as well as customizations i do. I need everything at its place before the itch is gone from my mind, u know what i mean
in my alfa1 version u get wait cursor small and regrading menu m$ make it big to easily navigate with finger also it is not ported from VGA build it
if u see 21139.5.0.0 in any thread u see that big wait cursor
regrading stability my v2 version is very stable i m using it for last 2-3week and i don't get any hang no network problem
also if u want customize u have kitchen
regrading new upcoming rtm or any new build i m not interested becoz honeycomb ui su*k i m addicted of old start menu and it very difficult to use that honeycomb which lag on event high end phone
i think windows phone 6.5 = windows vista so wait for windows phone 7 like windows 7
Buddy, 21139 and most of the other builds have been ported from VGA and i can confirm you that. all these builds have their icon dlls tweaked up to work on QVGA. This is becuase the beta builds haven't been been made on QVGA, even of you see the engadget video that also shows a VGA+ device. Wait cusor is present in the shellres.96.dll and can be easily changed so thats not a big deal, i too did it in my VM Ultimate ROM.
Stability, i cant say about it, if its stable then good. I am not taking anything away from the hard work you are doing so dont get offended yaar. I just express my personal openions, for me personally, i dont feel any good reason to move away from WM 6.1 build that i am using, specially when you have already released a very good 6.5 rom.

Which build? 6.1 builds higher than the one in Pro Users ROM v1 are having this by default. Finger Scrolling was introduced in later builds , its a feature of windows mobile, so it cant be "reliably" added by external apps. FTouchSL can do that but its a paid application now and the older version has incompatibility with the touch screen driver of windows mobile. If you install the older version, you cannot use the "Screen Aligning" function.

Any build higher than that, including the one i used in VanillaManila, as i said. Ramersonw's kitchen is nothing but the same base ROM i used in ProUser's ROM. The touch feature was introduced at the same time when HTC introduced its touch phones.

Since SYS 20769 gwes.exe supports touch scrolling (without the need of touch flo for example). It works the same way as touch flo.

PS: I'm using GnatGoSplats WM 6.1
I agree, try them and see which you like best. Just keep in mind that the two ROMs by Erofich are very different from each other, one is wm6.1 Standard (smartphones without touchscreen) and the other is wm6.1 Pro (PDA phones with touch screen). Navigation is said to be tricky if you use the pro version since the StarTrek has no touch screen. Since you haven't flashed yet, I would say flash the pro version and see if you like it and it's quirks. Then if you don't like it, flash again with the standard versions (I wish I had before investing so much time in getting my phone "just right".)
I'm not sure of all of the differences between Erofich's standard ROM and GnatGoSplat roms, since they have the same build number. I did see that GnatGoSplat's did not have the newer Comm Manager that I see in Erofich's, and Erofich's does not have the recent apps feature when you click the start menu.
I'm currently trying Erofich's with the cumulative fix cab installed. Looks great so far.

Just for the record, I was wrong to say that Erofich's ROM did not have the recent apps feature.... it does. Its an option in the Home Screen settings ("Show Recent Programs").

Good evening,
I personally prefer Erofich´s 6.1 Pro. It combines the great features of the pro version with the handling of the StrTrk. At first i tried the standard version and I have to say that the green slieder (On thed esktop) relly looks very cool. Since I flashed the Pro version I am now able to use application which were normally designed for PDA´s. That is why I would recommend the Pro Version to everyone who wants to use special programs which are not available for WM 6.1 (Standard).

Hey Ramerson, i am also working on this build for new gene, i too took XIP and SYS from Ankit's source. I have a great ROM at hand, with only two problems:
1. On connecting data cable, when passthru internet connection is established, the phone hangs. Touchscreen is responsive but software is not. If backlight becomes dim and i touch the screen it lits up, but nothing works untill a soft reset.
2. NO 3rd party keyboard is working. I am using IOLite Ezinput keyboards which are working fabulously on my previous rom.I tried installing other keyboards too, nothing worked. On selecting any keyboard from SIP menu, the default keyboard comes up.
Apart from these, th ROM is working fabulously well on my new gene.

But the new widgets and even sms work on new IE so i had to put it back. But after that, these problems came into picture. I cannot undestand what is happening. Lets see if there is anything i could do, otherwise will have to wait.
BTW, the only thing i liked about the WM 6.5 is the new look of scrollbars, titlebars etc and the Titanium TOday plugin. Its really very good and alllows information display along with letting the user enjoy his/her wallpaper too.
Start menu of this build is good but it lacks the recent applications area which was very useful.
If i can get titanium on WM 6.1, i will be more than happy

This build has some improvements from old ones, but it still have some issues. I made it only for test because i didn't build any wm6.5 yet. Have you checked if bluetooth works? Fuguru reported it didn't work. I checked other roms with the same build and found that they also have similar problems.
I'll wait for the next build to update this ROM (I hope this errors don't appear again).
at least this build is fast.
For now i agree with Ankit, it is not worth wasting time with this build.

Yes the build has good improvements, the fluidness of Titanium as well as scrolling of new Start Menu is great. Bluetooth, i didn't checked, i had to go somewhere so i flashed back my ProUsers ROM and did a SKTools restore just now. Anyways, non working keyboard is enough reason for me to stay away from this as i cannot live without the IOLite keyboards, i do a lot of sms and email typing.
I'll wait for the next build to update this ROM (I hope this errors don't appear again).
at least this build is fast.
For now i agree with Ankit, it is not worth wasting time with this build.

Thats what i have been saying since the development started on this. The beta builds have debug mode code with them, so they are not worth wasting the time, other than learning purpose. I'll make a true ROM only when RTM arrives. But ya, Ankit has done some good work on these Betas.
@all: For the users who are using Ramerson's kitchen for WM 6.5 ROM building, i would like to point out one thing. It uses GReloc in between the build process so the kitchen wont work like it use to.
You will first need to divide packages into smaller sub groups (in sub folder i mean) and then run a full greloc on it. If it still gives error "Integer Overflow", then dont close the Greloc window, press the Doit button once again. This time it will show you the path of the module which is causing error. Go to that module folder and delete the .tmp file there. This will be locked so you will need to use something like unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/) to unlock the file. AFter that, again press Do It button and it will do the relocating without problems. In my case the problematic file was htmlnote.dll in SYS\Redist folder.
Once i did that, old Greloc worked fine. WMreloc also works but its tricky to use it with Ramerson's kitchen and it is not bug free either. It sometimes overlaps module addresses which result in non bootable ROMs.
IMPORTANT: From now on, i will post ready to use XIP and SYS for the Visual Kitchen i have posted. You can download the base kitchen once and just update these files as specified in the kitchen thread to get the ROMs. The Kitchen thread is here :

COM2, COM3, COM4, MD1 etc are name of different development chains at Microsoft and each of these branch has a particular build number pattern. Some of the branches have splitted from a previous one when development reached at a certain level while others are created by OEMs like HTC, Sony, Samsung etc for their own specific development purposes. Currently, COM2, COM3 and COM4 branches are having new updates.
COM2 branch is the 218xx series, it has the old WM 6.5 RTM style look which is perfect for a QVGA screen as of now. This branch is almost feature complete and is now being optimized for performance.
COM3 branch is 230xx series and its having the latest UI changes right now, with start menu and ok/close buttons at bottom, plus a thinner upper bar and a fat lower bar due to transfer of buttons from top to down and increase in their size to make them finger friendly. The softkey indicators are also on the bottom bar and are now in shape of buttons instead of flat text. This branch builds also have drag and drop in start menu and not-returning-to-today screen type settings menu.
With latest release of this branch, 23041, the whole set of changes it brought have been merged with COM4 branch so its highly unlikely that a new build will come in this one.
COM4 Branch is 234xx branch, is the official Windows Mobile 6.5.x branch and is the one receiving all the latest updates.

Ramerson has provided me the XIP so you'll see it most probably by this evening. WKTask works by hacking the taskbar and because of the changes in Windows taskbar display method, its no longer compatible. Even if it works, it will cause problems with the new lock screen.

Your'e Welcome buddy Actually all the previous builds were not so stable and had one or more problems that were making them unsuitable for regular use. So I didn't had good feelings about WM 6.5 yet. But with this build, its quiet stable and looking at the release date of 11 may set for WM 6.5, this must be quiet close to the RTM.

As compared to helgees build its low on memory but still its fully loaded so no problem on phone storage memory part, but can u build on helgee style so that we can get more RAM......just after flash i am getting 22.2 Mb of RAM and after loading PIM i get 20.8 Mb of RAM...
Known issues
-music play back stops when power key is pressed to turn off the display
-active syn arrow on task bar remains even after USB cable is removed
One more strange thing with helgee rom....I am able to flash it with PC using RUU utility although its mentioned to be used with SD card method...
Please try to pack ur ROM using helgees method so we can avail more RAM along with power packed pro users fetures...
Overall its a suberb ROM.....as it should be

Although you are saying that you have been successful in flashing the same ROM using RUU. not many users have reported that. So i guess we must get feedback from other users too, coz if this is possible, we are in for a treat. As for now, 20+ MB of free memory with WM 6.5 is good enough too, i used opera mobile (most heavy winmo app AFAIK) which ran flawlessly with 3 tabs open, along with Audio Manager running, which is another huge app. So i guess dont go on numbers, see the usability.

- Although the registry settings for Audio Manager, in which i included the tweak for playback in suspend mode got corrupted somehow, the trick that used to work on WinMo 6.1 is not working on 6.5. I tried adding the right registry settings, rebooted, but still it doesn't works. So i guess we need to wait for some other method to be explored for it.
- This is happening in your particular case. I am not having this problem
Anyways, i guess these problems will not much affect the usability of ROM and its good as a first release. Lets see what can be done further

but bro on the today screen theres no batery indicator instead time is shown there
@Jyot: Use Advanced Settings Tool in Start>Settings to set the option to show battery on today screen instead of time.

once i tried to use opera with ur Vanilla Manilla ROM but experience was pathetic...probably i was on a wrong note...
Please recommend the opera version u use and also provide the link if possible.....what i know is opera is not free.....

In WM 6.5 You Can Scroll The Programs And Menus Buy Dragging Any Where , But In WM 6.1 You Have To Use The Scroll Bars !

Yes, it is possible
Infact that is the default feature of WM 6.1, if it is not removed by the chef while cooking the ROM to again more free RAM.
Try any of the 6.1 based ROM from this forum.
@Duron: No it cant be removed and it has became a feature of the Windows Mobile OS itself. It could be removed in older days (with Elf for example) when it was not part of Windows Mobile OS itself, rather it was provided by an external HTC tool called BioTouch. Now its inseparable.

But I guess I had flashed a 6.1 ROM which did not had touch scrolling in it, So thought it could be removed while cooking.
Anyway it's good for us that microsoft has made it part of OS.
@Duron: Yes, you are right buddy, in earlier versions of 6.1, MSTOUCH was not there (this is the name people use to describe the built in flik scrolling in WinMo). These versions also have a weird problem, that if you copy 2-3 files to phone mem which are also present in the ROM itself (i mean you override the rom file), then the device would get really really slow. It would take upto 5 minutes to open the WIndows folder in file explorer. This issue was solved in some builds just before the one i used in Pro Users ROM v1.0. And at the same time, Microsoft introduced touch scrolling in the WIndows Mobile itself.
@Hassan: Buddy, there is no way you can enable touch scrolling in that rom without rebuilding it with a newer SYS which means, you create a new ROM. Only HTC Touch (Elf) and above phones have a touch screen driver that can do this with the help of biotouch.exe utility. It requires this utility + support for it in the touch.dll driver. This driver file is unique for every device and cannot be used across devices, atleast not between those which have fundamentally different types of touch screens. For reference, see how the touch screen of a touch series device from htc differs from a device like gene. you will get the idea, the hardware is different.

i have the x7510 .i heard that the michy rom is really good.how do i know which rom im using.also is the oem rom any good.

there are lots of good ROM are available... coz every chief creates his ROM ..having something special in it... so difficult to tell which is stable or good...

okzzz...i changed the icons to give a different feel to the rom.i also increased the font size so that its easy to read once you categorize your apps in specific folders.anyways,my next release probably after Dec9(if possible) will include stock icons with newer builds.
Further i will be concentrating more towards developing and hacking section or applications n themes section as i dont use gene for as personal cell now.
