Neon or Niki
Are you sure it is a Nike? If your in the US, it likely to be a Neon.

If, and I mean if, it is unlocked, then you flash whatever ROM that takes your fancy.
Do keep a copy of the original ROM to flash back in case something goes wrong.
Do HardSPL it, ie write protect the bootloader of the phone, to reduce the likelihood of making it a brick.

i am in the uk
is the t mobile version
its the roms im not sure about
also my screen is very slow when the keyboard is showing
and will putting a new rom on it take all the tmobile stuff off.
can you recommend a rom for me to use i am on orange monthly contract

Provided the phone is unlocked, you can flash any ROM.
Things to do:
1) HardSPL it with 1.22 HardSPL
2) Flash the WM 6.1 ROM from HTC. It updates the radio 1.65.28.25 or 1.65.29.22 depending on version selected, and it gets rid of the T Mobile extras.
3) If all's well, give an alternate ROM a go. There are several in this forum, including mine.
Have fun.

It assumes your phone is still locked. Get a cached copy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464176&highlight=official
Do have a copy of the original ROM. If phone is not unlocked properly, then these ROM flashes will fail, leaving you with a phone that is not usable. It will need the original ROM from your phone provider (t-mobile) to get it going again.

Hi i also have the same phone, a niki 200 t-mobile, and i have used the super CID unlock on the phone and changed to a lite rom, but i cant seem to get the radio to change?
Dose anyone know how i can do this? My phone is 1.15 hard.

Pre Upgrade Queries.

I'm going to attempt to update my Ameo very very soon (I'm scared, but I think I can make it), and have the following queries:-
Q) What is actually needed to perform the upgrade (software/hardware)?
A) A SuperCID Ameo/Athena/U1000, USB Cable, Upgrade ROM, ....
Q) On Upgrading, is the device wiped completly (Microdrive included)?
Q) Am I correct in thinking that I need to get the SuperCID unlock from the imei-checkers site? What is their turn around time?
Q) Are there any 'roll-back' instructions in case of disaster?
Q) Will there be less risk associated with the T-Mobile Upgrade (if it ever appears)?
Q) Are WM5 theme's compatible with WM6?
Q) Is there any WM5 software known to be incompatible with WM6?
Q) Is any software that is included in the WM5 image NOT there in WM6?
Q) Is there any adverse effect from using the generic image rather than the T-Mobile custom one?
Apologies for some 'newbie' questions, but I just wanted some clarification to committing to the upgrade, what with the risk of bricking the device.

1) If you have a stock standard UK T-Mobile Ameo, then download ATHE_T-MOB005.rar from http://uploaded.de/?id=wbbw2u
If you have something else, then refer to post #4 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314672
2) make sure you have 50%+ battery life, and an established activesync connection via USB
3) extact the RAR, run the EXE, be paitent and cross fingers
4) that's it!

Yes and No.
Yes - the phone memory (Contacts, SMS, installed software ect) will be wiped.
No - the microdrive is not wiped

I think they are pretty much the same although I have not don a side-by-side comparision, . ATHE_T-MOB005.rar includes the Oprea, VueFLO, TV Out, Adobe Reader, JETCET Print, Midlet Manager

Some people rather a generic (or vanilla) ROM. I suspect the only diffecterence between ATHE_T-MOB005.rar and the offical T-Mobile ROM will be the branding (includion of a T-Mobile theme)
2 points
I think the only diff is the T-Mob one is for T-Mob CID devices so you don't need CID unlocking.
Pocket informant is incompatible with WM6 - they want you to upgrade
My T-Mob (UK) upgraded SIM and CID locked without a hitch.

Hi.
I have more or less the same questions.
I have an HTC X7500 unbranded, bought from Dangaard Italy.
I read carefully the main topic, and someone said that he flashed his device
with the ATHE_WM6_x7500_flasher.rar file, without CID-unlocking it.
Is this correct?
If so, can someone tell me in which order I have to run the four exe files
included?
Thanks in advance
Mauro
I prefer it anyway...none of the pointless operator branding (and I always hated the T-M phone skin) and I don't feel there is anything missing or lacking.
Many thanks for absolutly top notch replys, particularly Spoonter!
I shall be 'violating' my device later tonight (probably).
I'll probably backup my Microdrive before operation and clear it down anyway.
One other one:-
Q) Can someone point me to instructions on how to 'backup' the current WM5 rom? I'd like to keep hold of a copy of this incase of incident!
Hope someone can also help Pumats!

I believe X7500s are CID unlocked - although someone says the dutch one is CID locked (although his sig says Ameo not X7500?) if it is CID unlocked you just need to run the ROMUpgradeUtility - and wait! it runs everything else for you and just works (or did on my UK Ameo)
Good luck.
Hi
I have a French X7500, it was SIM-unlocked but it was CID locked, so I had to buy the unlock at IMEI check before I could use the upgrade. However I didn't try the T-mobile upgrade, only the HTC001 or something.

Thanks Confucious!

AMEO can get stuck with this upgrade
I've got a T-Mobile Ameo. UK rom. Never touched SIm or CID lock.
Ran the exe program as per earler post, but for no obvious reason, Activesync lost connection at 0% and updating stopped.
The Ameo is now stuck in bootloader mode, with a white screen saying "Loading...."
I've tried getting out of bootloader (hard reset, down volume, plus reset) and it just keeps coming back to the "Loading..." screen.
A word of caution then for all of you out there... and a plea for help from someone ;-)
how to "un-stick" bootloader mode
... just incase anyone else has the same problem.
This was more luck than judgement....
I took out the battery re-inserted it with the joystick pressed in.
It re-entered bootloader mode, but this time with the colours showing and USB came up. Activesync then recognised the device again and I've got the install running again... now on 56% ... fingers crossed !!!
I would recommend anyone flashing their rom does the full unlock from IMEI-Check
Afterall, if there are problems its a LOT easier to fix a SuperCID device (CID unlocked) than one that has a country code.
Also, I was locked to TMob uk, they charge like £15 to remove just the sim lock even if they let you, so may as well spend the £20 and get it all done.
I can now use any rom and any sim, its worth the money.
Wait is better
Thanks to all for your answers.
I think I'll wait some time to see if an italian WM6 official rom will come out.
In case it will not appear, I'll follow the standard procedure to upgrade, e.g.
CID-unlock, flash, restart and ... hope! ;-)

Then leave, no offense.
If you don't want to mod it, then take what your provider gave you and be happy. If not, then download some commercial applications.
But if you want to improve your phone, and make it realize it's full potential, then you are gonna have to get in to some mods.
Sorry mate, I'm just fed up with all the "how do I make my phone neato keano" questions from people.
It takes some willingness to experiment, some computer know how, and 99 times out of 100 all will be well. (BTW, I'm the one out of the hundred, I totally bricked one).
Retail ROMS, no such thing, you can't buy em.
Heh, jeez man, you seem to make alot of assumptions based on no information.
I am very computer literate, and I am passing down my phone to somebody else who has no clue how to do this stuff and probably does not care for it either.
I had a cooked ROM on it, but went back to a retail SPL and installed the retail AT&T (Beta?) WM6 Rom on my 8525.
Seriously though, you shouldn't assume such things about people especially over the internet.
The key benefit to HardSPL is that it protects accidental overwrite of SPL & IPL. Basically, it protects against bricking the phone. If it were me, I would always keep HardSPL, even if I were running a retail ROM. It really only affords protection during flashing process, so if you are not going to flash anything, you really don't need it - kinda like wearing a condom whike you aren't having sex, I guess. However, unlike the condom example, when you do decide to flash again, you would have to put HardSPL on there, which is itself a flashing process, so you would be vulnerable.
Always practice safe flashing!
Thanks, Todd.
I think you already answered about this in the other thread...but not yet. I can't get a retail ROM to install without extracting it first..even on SPL-Retail
lol i remember when i got my x01ht... i wanted to keep it softbank and just have this sexy phone from japan.... I read japanese so that wouldnt have been a problem and I am moving back to japan next year, so I thought it was perfect.
I had to unlock it using a code (which worked after flashing to hardspl 1.10 and then back to hardspl 2.10), but softbank still had that stupid welcome.exe issue. So i flashed to HTC's WM6 wwe rom. No more 'neato keano' for me.
Then i discovered letsjapan and ime3_1qvga (whatever its called)... I can have my japanese functionality with an english rom!! w00t.
Then i discovered schaps... I am so far from neato keano... but still barely breaking the surface.
I know this story is pointless, but if anyone is reading this with the 'neato keano' idea... get real, try some stuff and you will never go back (unless for warranty purposes ).

Is your phone CID unlocked? Maybe you have a mismatched CID. HardSPL bypasses the CID check, retail does not.

Hi Todd,
my phone is unlocked via a code from AT&T, so I didn't use any of the tools found on this forum. So I think it is still SuperCIDed??
The updater just crashes, I posted a screenshot in the other thread. If I extract the directory and run the RUU by itself it flashes fine.
Maybe because I am trying to flash the same ROM again on top of the same one??

Well, the code almost certainly would not superCID your phone. Only remove the SIM lock. The RUU is checking the CID restriction on the phone and disallowing the flash. The only flash that would work without unpacking is the one intended for and released by your carrier - AT&T rom to AT&T rom, for example. As I mentioned, the reason unpacking works is because Oli's RUU bypasses the CID check. Does seem odd that the same ROM won't flash though...

Is there anyway to realize if my phone had been flashed before I boutght it?

Hey fellas,
I wonder if there is anyway to realize if your phone's ROM had been flashed before I bought it?
I have recently bought a new hd2, and as the ROM was very old, I decided to upgrade the ROM (from Taiwan region which was the only region allowed me to download ROM update because of the phone serial number), but after upgrading the language of my phone changed to Taiwanese. Accordingly, I guess my phone ROM had been flashed before I bought it, otherwise the language would have been Taiwanese FROM THE BEGINNING.
If we assume the seller has used HSPL to install the WWE ( English ) ROM on my phone, What if he/she had already removed the HSPL before selling it to me? Is there any other way to find out if my phone had been flashed?
I want to debate the seller but I want a good proof before any talk to them.
look in bootloader at what it says next to spl. If it ends '.hspl' then it has been hspl'd, but if they removed it, theres no way to tell. perhaps they used a goldcard, perhaps they used sspl.

It says SPL- 3.03.0000 XE,
By the way, is using Gold Card or SSPL illegal? I am asking this because if it is legal, I can't debate them.
Using HSPL falls in a gray area in terms of being legal or not, right?
it does mean that whilst its on the phone, but its not on the phone (your spl ends .0000, that means its stock) anymore so no problem. it doesnt break warranty permanently, only whilst its there, and its not, so dont worry about it.
Since its got a 3.14 rom on there, they must have used goldcard anyway, not hspl, and yes, theoretically it broke warranty by bypassing the manufacturers checks, BUT there is still all valid software on there, and no proof anything untowards happened, so no problem.

Actually when I got it, it was ROM 1.43 Version, but I upgraded it and the ROM being 3.14 is as a result of my Upgrade, not theirs.
I can't be 100% sure but for me, if it's a Taiwanese phone with another language... then it has been flashed.
Anyway, what do you want to complain about?... you put it back to "original" setting by flashing the Taiwanese ROM... hope you can read it
One way could be if the previous owner sell it as "UK version" (any version but Taiwanese). Then you didn't buy what was advertised for.

Well, you can expect it from a eBay second hand private seller, but not from a reputable retailer.

The phone language is now Chinese and its as a result of the fact that they probably sold me a flashed phone.
Now I have to either live with a Chinese language phone or I have to ( illegally? ) flash the phone again...
what's there to complain about now when you already flashed/upgrade to a new ROM?
That's like buying a new car from the dealership, installed turbos on it, blow the engine, and now demanding that the dealership to reimburse you for selling a lemon.
You shouldn't have touched or flashed the phone at all until you find out if it's a virgin HD2 or not.

If you believe flashin phones is not illegal, that's one thing. BUT:
I really don't know how you compare installing a turbo on a car ( which clearly voids the warranty of the car due to the warranty terms and conditions ) and installing an OFFICIAL upgrade from the FORMAL htc website into my phone! I am not the one who flashed the phone so why I should be blamed?! I only did a legal upgrade and that's all.
Mate, tell me where in the htc website is mentioned that "you must not upgrade your phone ROM before you are sure that your phone is not flashed by the seller"?!
Assuming flashing the phone with another region's ROM is illegal:
They shouldn't have sold me a flashed phone in the first place. If it had not been flashed, I would not have faced this problem.

My point is that you have already flashed another ROM on top of it (official rom or not)...so what other trace of previous flashes being on there? I mean, you verified that the SPL is original and had 1.43 rom (which is realllllyyy old) on it, I don't know what else you want.
How is the packaging? Any form of knicks and scratch anywhere on the phone?
wow. definitely one of the silliest questions I can remember ever reading here.
Why is this a silly question? Sure, most users here don't care if they void their warranty by circumventing security to flash whichever ROM they want, but this guy is clearly not one of them. He bought a new HD2, and if he just wants an official ROM, he shouldn't have to resort to gold card or manipulated SPL methods to install an upgrade with the same language.
Meteorite-The-Second:
First of all, you're using the term flashing in the wrong way. Flashing is the way to put a new ROM (official or not) on the phone. When you put your current official upgraded ROM on the phone you flashed it.
Flashing the phone with an official ROM for it's original region certainly doesn't void the warranty. Using any kind of SPL manipulation or gold card method to flash any other ROM probably does, though if you restore the original SPL and ROM before returning it for warranty it most likely cannot be detected.
When you flashed the ROM that is currently on the phone, I assume that you did that via a USB connection from the computer as this is the official way of doing upgrades. If that is the case, then the ROM that was on the phone before must have been flashed using soft SPL or gold card, because Hard SPL cannot be removed by flashing via USB, and you obviously have the official SPL on your phone now.
If you bought the phone new, it really doesn't matter if flashing with gold card or soft SPL is actually illegal or not. Go back to the store and demand an official english language phone. If they cannot provide that, demand your money back and buy it somewhere else. Before leaving the store with the new phone, use the phones serial number to check which official ROMs you can download from the HTC web site.

What if the seller removed the hspl BEFORE selling the phone to me i.e. what if the hspl have not been there in my phone from the beginning ( I didn't check the bootloader before upgrading the ROM so I know if the hspl were there or not) ? I have heard you can remove hspl after you have flashed your phone it while keeping the new official or cooked rom. Is that right? Or will you lose your newly flashed Rom if you remove the hspl?

Are you sure about that? Doesn't flashing a stock ROM of the same region as your device get rid of it? Seemed to work when I wanted to downgrade from the official WWE 3.14 update.... Flashing the stock 1.66 WWE ROM took me back to SPL1.42, allowing me to put HSPL 2.08 back on.... (all done via USB)
I think if the OP explained a bit more about the phone's backgound more people might have been able to help. What country is the phone supposed to be from? Is it that it's supposed to be a UK device but it has actually come from Hong Kong? (for example)
Perhaps I shouldn't have tried to read this thread with a hangover ; )

you just answered yourself. you didn't remove hspl by usb flashing cos hspl wasn't on your phone. you had stock 3.03 from the 3.14 rom and downgraded it to 1.66 stock, so therefore your line "seemed to work when I wanted to downgrade the......" is nonsensical.

start by reading some of the links HERE especially the one marked
# [TUT] Flashing your First GSM 512LEO Rom (For Noobs) <-- A must read if you are new to this
hi,do i need to do this part ?
install a regedit software on your Leo e.g. PHM regedit also original PHM Site (offline at the moment)
--b: Run the regedit software
--c: Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies
--d: Look for 00001001 double click it and change the setting from 2 to 1
--e: Reboot the HTC LEO
i installed on the phone but none of the files will open ?? phm regedit that is,and do i need to buy that program PSAS ?
There are some steps which you need to do:
- read into the threat of installing HSPL
it explains everything in a logical manner.
HSPL is needed to install a custom ROM
- read into how to install a new RADIO version and look which RADIO you need (wrong version can corrupt your installation)
- read into how to install custom ROMS. A few good ones are Miri & Dinik v19, Artemis and some other stable and fast ROMs with some eye candy
But you wished you hadent change to HD2? Why is that? I truely think its the best phone out there atm. You can have custom ROMS, Andriod/WP7/Ubuntu/W95 or 98 and Meego ports on your SD card wich work almost as a native system. There is no phone with that much OS options. Soon there will be a native Andriod install in the NAND of the phone. This phone is hardly restricted from modivying, I would say not at all. Which you cant say from other phone brands or the IPhone which in my eyes is like driving a Ferarri with a Driver and a communist with a gun (Steve Gay Jobs) in your neck .. it sucks like hell and your scared to death they'll brick you if you modivy something which you bought and can be considerd your possesion. The urge of controll pushed by Apple makes me sick and avoide buying any Apple products.

thats not nessecary when you update the stock rom, HTC updates those mods in their new updates so its not neccesary. If you continue searching you prolly will find some cabinets (WM6 installing packages what will change it for you.
hi,i installed the updated rom from htc site & ive installed hspl2 so now i take it i can go ahead & install custom rom yeah ?
dont care about voiding warranty cause i purchased phone of ebay with no receipt anyway.

Sir if you mean with "the updated rom from htc" = stock ROM 3.14 you need to know that stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL. (remove HSPL!)
hi,thats the rom thats already on the phone at the moment, ive only installed hspl2 on the phone and not tried any custom roms yet,if i install another rom on the phone do i need to install a new radio version also.
sorry if i sound stupid but im new to this phone & im finding it very confusing

There are no stupid questions, only the response can be stupid (Ow that's mean's me )
Okay lest start from the beginning.
In case you have a T-Mous device you can ignore my previous communication about HSPL.
But in case your devise isn't a T-Mous device; than you need to remove HSPL.
HSPL in combination with stock ROM 3.14 gives you only +/- 50MB of free program memory and gives lot of issue.
So in this case you need to remove HSPL before install stock ROM 3.14.
In case you use stock ROM 3.14 on a non T-Mous device you can't use HSPL so that means your radio version will stay 2.15.50.14.
Hope with this information it's more clear for you.

In your case you have a branded device, and HSPL isn't working well in combination with stock ROM 3.14 you need to use the GoldCard Technique to be able to install 3.14 stock ROM correctly.
@Kurt unless by 'the latest from the site' he means the 1.66/1.72 rom,,,, he never mentioned 3.14,,,, in which case all the 3.14 vs hspl talk is just confusing the issue. He said he flashed the rom THEN installed hspl2, meaning it cant be the 3.14 rom, because hspl wouldn't have installed.
@OP enter bootloader, look by 'spl'.
If it says 1.xx.0000 or 2.xx.0000 or 1.xx.hspl or 2.xx.hspl then you can flash anything,. rom or radio, cooked or stock,(plus hspl2, of course) but not 3.14 roms. (You will get the 50MB issue kurt mentioned running a 3.14 rom on any of those.)
If it says 3.03.0000 then you can flash 3.14 based roms using SSPL.
Oh, and re: the warranty, , , once you have flashed the rom (forget 3.14 for now) you can immediately remove hspl using hspl2.exe, voila, warranty restored.

network lock completely unconnected to rom locked. even once it's unlocked, it is still rom locked, and the opposite is also true, applying hspl to a network locked phone will not allow other sims to be used.

That cleared that up then. Thanks.

Is there a Stock HTC Titan Rom

I was just wondering, I have a AT&T Windows Titan x310e that is unlocked
I have to enter the unlock code every time I start the phone…what a pain in the ass !
Anyways I was told you could just D/L the stock US Cingular Eternity Rom and install it to get rid of the nagging lock code problem. Problem is to get the whole rom, it comes in 2 or 3 parts and you can’t get the second part. I even paid for a subscription to FileFactory that said they have it, guess what… after I paid, they didn’t have it.
So this got me to thinking, couldn’t I just D/L the stock HTC Titan Windows rom (European or is there a English rom) and install it.
My questions are...
1: Is there a stock HTC Titan Windows Rom that is unlocked? If there is where can I find the link
2: If there is, what do I have to do to flash it to my phone? I don’t have a Y cable or gold card. I was told I didn’t need it to flash the stock Cingular Rom. I would need the hardware if I was going to flash a custom Rom. But I’m not doing that.
3: If I can, what other files do I need to do it? And is there a walk through for the procedure.
4: I am on the Bell Canada network so do I need a special radio file to get it to work?
