Whic Keyboard is standard on a VZW TP Pro (Herman) - Touch Pro CDMA

Hi guys...I am about ready to start cooking my own ROM but I'm still unsure of which Keyboard this device came with. The keyboard was one of the few things about the stock ROM I actually liked! LOL
Any help will be greatly appreciated...
Note to Mods - Are there any plans to move the CDMA Raphael stuff into a new section called Herman?
It took me quite a while to realize that the ROMs I should be using were codenamed for Herman not Raphael.
IT would also help separate the confusion of what is GSM and what is CDMA.

Sprint Touch Pro - Which ROM to use?

Hello,
I've been on my Touch Pro now for a little over a week. It's truly a great phone out of the box, but perhaps it could be better? I noticed a lot of work and posts concerning different ROMs for the Diamond and Touch Pro.
I'm wondering which ROMs, if any, can be used on the Sprint Touch Pro. I understand that custom ROMs are faster, which is good.. but what else might they provide besides pre-installed or removed programs?
If I were to use a different ROM, I do want the Sprint Navigation and Sprint TV apps that are pre-installed. I suppose I could grab those CABs and install them manually?
Apologies if this has been asked, but it seems most of the stuff around here pertains to the GSM version of the Touch Pro. I don't want to try anything without being 100% sure!
Lastly, has anyone posted a backup of the stock Sprint ROM to go back to?
I too would like to know all this as my sprint touch pro is coming tuesday. does anyone know if there is a wiki for sprint touch pro yet?
Count me in. I've been a lurker for many years (back when the HTC Apache came out) and am lovin DCD's rom for the Titan. Now that I've jumped on the Touch-pro bandwagon I'm looking for a cooked rom too. JD's rom does not interest me since it removes features I want, and I'm not sure what the benefit of his rom is.
Same here, except I'm getting a Verizon TP soon.
Is there some page that compares/contrasts the various roms that are available?
Re:Custom Roms
There is a list of custom roms as well as other info you may want to read in the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443869
my fav one so far
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=43229
that one has been my fav. I'm a huge fan of nuerom but its not that great for the touch pro right now. I use 32mb pp and its sweeeeeeet
ive tried all the ones posted on ppcgeeks. the one i like the best is ya4juggs. the newest ones are clean roms so there are really nothing in them except basic stuff, for the person who posted about the sprint navagation and sprint tv. not to worry there is a link for a sprint cabs including the ones you want and more you just have to instal them and your good to go. if you can find them i will post them. dont forget to unlock your touch pro
So, are these custom ROMs just reportedly faster because they have less installed?

Yes, use this one, if you use the one in your previous post it will brick your device.
Are there any ROMs that keep the Bell branding? I remember using a WM6 ROM on my Treo and it changed the logo to Sprint, which got me weird looks when I tried to sell it
Anyway, I basically just want to make sure that the ROMs for Sprint will also work with Bell's Touch Pros.
I like MightROM4 for windows mobile 6.1 and MightROM5 for Windows Mobile 6.5.
I also have seen someone porting Touch Pro2 ROM to original Touch Pro which has some new features.
i like neuroms,, started using nuerom on my mogul! it went from a piece of crap, to a 31mb monster that was faster than my stock touch pro
so now im using nuerom for my tp

CDMA Roms

So, i was at Pocketnow.com, and they were showing off a touch HD with a killer new ROM, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483822
So i wondered if there might be a ROM for the Touch Pro.. but, i don't know where to look. The Raphael forum section has a ROMS thread, but those are the GSM version only. Insteady for the CDMA, we have this one thread, which covers the Sprint AND Verizon version, but seemingly no ROM scene... where do i look for Roms? Here or in the ROMS section?
And is there a way we can get a CDMA ROMS section on the forum. Or most importantly, is there a Raphael CDMA version of that particular ROM
Goto PPCgeeks.com It's THE source for CDMA phones.
Most of the CDMA ROMS i've seen are on PPCgeeks.com. They have a very large sprint and verizon crowd. However, i'm not sure if they have anything similar to the ROM you're looking for. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=68
XDA-Developers is pretty much a GSM based Forum with a little CDMA thrown in to help here and there and PPCGeeks is pretty much a CDMA based Forum with a little help here and there for GSM. should make it alot more simple.
check out this site it was created by the PPCGeeks community for custom Rom trackin for the TP (CDMA)

Can I flash my At&t FUZE into HTC official firmware?

I have searched the forum, but I found some people saying I can do that. Some said the FUZE has different hardware and cannot be flashed into HTC official firmware. Which is the correct answer?
If I really can, what else should I beware of? Any thing will not work after the flash?
Thanks.
Yes you can...
For starters your keyboard mapping will be wrong, but that is easily fixed by any number of CABs you can find in the forum. You also won't have any of the AT&T special apps.
I guess the real question is "why"?
If you're going to go through the effort of flashing, it makes much more sense to flash in one of the cooked ROMs that offer more features.

I agree with Rob - Why would you want to? Unless say you are modding it to include the front facing camera and want the rom to be able to take advantage of that. Other wise you will have to jump through hoops just to get it to work.

Because the original HTC rom is thoroughly tested and, HTC did make it since they made the hardware i believe they know the best software for it as well.
No offense to the cooks and all but I have not come across a faster, smoother, bug-free rom than the "Asia Build 20764" released on march 16th.
Even though I like the cool look aof the custom roms thereis no competing with the performance of the original HTC roms.
I agree with Stalix. I personally just prefer the official HTC firmware. Apparently, HTC know their hardware and have working with their software in this field for long, they should have a more stable firmware. And I personally hate to see at&t logos in my phone.(does FUZE have those logos?)
Same idea when I install my PC, I would install Microsoft official version not those modded version. They may have bug or viruses due to their experience of modding.
So on the forum what kid of key word means it's official HTC firmware? I have seen hundreds of firmware here.

They also do not turn on certain features. Take a look at all the power management features you can turn on with Advance Config. They skip out on a lot stuff so then they do not have to support it. If you have more things to support then you need a bigger support staff which is more money out the door for them...A ROM (like mine) based on an official release can be much more faster, stable and more enjoyable than a OEM ROM. Look at the TytN II...it can use the YouTube app fine but why do they not include it...

Let's recall that approx 10 months ago, the big breakthrough in this community for stable reliable 6.1 TytN II ROMs, was the release in May of 6.1 WWE by HTC. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
Nothing wrong with checking out (or using) the stock releases...
How can I revert cooked ROMs back to OEM HTC ROM?
thanks
I have done the flash!
Yeah I have done the flash to my fuze and the UK rom is the best way to go. I love the boot screen saying Touch Pro! You will definitely need the keyboard fix as stated earlier. You will need to find a UK serial so you can grab the rom. There is one in the xda archive. Also, get a calculator cab because the stock one is not always the best. They are also on here. When flashing the HTC rom it will take a couple of more minutes than the others. Mine was stuck on 11% for a 2 minutes. But it will complete beautifully. So also It is very stable. Let me know how you like it.

Yea but you have to also realize that all "cooked ROMs" are based off an official build in the first place.
Take a look at the ROMs available now for the KAISER; they are much better and much improved as developers are able to port updated applications to older devices, improving their performance, and functionality.
If HTC Software was so great, developers wouldnt be looking at other 3D drivers from devices such as the Omnia or the ATI 3D drivers, to improve their devices.
EDIT: To answer the original thread makers question, yes you can flash an HTC ROM to your Fuze provided you have HARDSPL'd your device first. The only thing you would need to change is the keyboard mapping which can be done by a .CAB

This. HTC might "know thier hardware" but that's exactly why you take their official ROM and modify it. Then I have my Fuze settings without running keyboard customization, better apps and tools that aren't in the official ROM, and tweaks to make it even faster. Best of both worlds.
i dont deal with cook Roms anymore, I got out of that business since the MDA Wizard.
Since then I have owned the Treo 750, ATT 8525, HTC TYNT II, and now the FUZE (touch Pro) and I have sticked to official release ROMS.
Its a personal choice really. I have had great experiences with Official Roms and I can do all the tweaks and add all the cabs my self.
So sad to see this Fuze forum flooded with so many cook ROMS. Everybody wants to be a Chef these days. I just feel bad for all the new bees coming in here and can't even decide which ROM to use

so where would a 'newb' go to find a nice stock rom that isnt cooked? seems like all the roms here are cooked to some extent or another.
No worries with flashing Touch PRO HTC roms or cooked roms on the ATT Fuze
I am currently using WM6.5 for the Touch PRO on an unlocked Fuze with a Canadian 3G provider with ZERO problems !

go to the Raphael Wiki page and will link you to the proper page for download
3g settings and link!
First off the rom for official download will be found at the following:
www.htc.com/europe
Then you will need the UK S/N code which is as follows:
HT833K018918
This was in the archive much props to who uploaded it however I will repost it as to the fact it was not easy to find. This will give you the UK rom! I love the video that plays at the beginning! It is great with battery life as well! So then grab your fuze keyboard fix and it is as if it were always a touch pro!!
Cheers and enjoy!

Well it is a ROM DEVELOPMENT forum. Having choices is kinda the point since which ROM to use is personal preference. Personally, since UC works well, I change between them quite a bit.

Verizon Custom Rom?

Hello everyone,
First off let me start off by saying that I have been here for quite some time, and have had no issues modding / customizing my ATT Fuze ( GSM Model ). Recently, a coworker of mine wanted me to customize his touch pro also. He has the CDMA Verizon variant. It is my understanding that Verizon has crippled the devices GPS Capabilities to force people into using VZNavigator.
My question is this ( And yes ive searched High and low here ). Is there a rom someone has built that is specific to the Verizon variant that already has all of the patches correctly installed? From my understanding, it is a not so fun process that is still in Beta at the moment. I will be unlocking his cell tomorrow and will be installing a ROM..... just not sure which way to go. He likes the way mine is set up ( Using NRG's EnergyRom 2.0 ) and have yet to see a single CDMA Variant that has everything in it that he wants. Shy of trying to cook one myself for him ( Which im still in my learning phases ), Im not sure what way to go.
The key thing is the GPS. He plans to buy TomTom or Igo and so far neither work on his stock rom ( Trial apps )
Might anyone have a any pointers? Maybe someone here is reading this from their VZ Touch pro?
Thanks Much,
Wayne

There is really one primary Verizon chef and that is Scott Crosler (sskusers.com), he is purely dedicated for Verizon builds. Another good Verizon ROM I've used is |||bored|||, either way, unlocking the GPS is easy enough once you have a cooked ROM your friend is happy with. For the GPS, search for Verizon GPS Fixv2 (again, thanks to |||bored|||).
These two make our device actually useable, they are God send in every aspect. Best of luck.
^ Agreed. Im using SSK 2.0 rom (Includes Kitchen). Just like stated above lllboredlll GPS is what you want to unlock it. Really fast and stable.
I would definately check out ppcgeeks.com
It is mainly CDMA where as xda is more GSM oriented.
Also i have a rom out a 6.5 mobile shell rom, that is made for verizon phones, but works on others

extremely confused: flashing ROM onto GSM phone

hi,
i am sooo confused, i've been reading as many of these posts in xda and ppcgeeks but i still dont fully understand. please clarify the following...
i have a GSM htc touch pro already unlocked when bought. i want to flash CFAY TP2 ROM but its in the CDMA forums. am i right to assume that its not possible for me to flash?
therefore, are there far less ROMS to pick from bcos i have a GSM phone?
Thank u kindly in advanced.
If you flash a CDMA ROM to your GSM Touch Pro you'll brick your Touch Pro.
I've always been under the impression that there are a lot more ROMs available for GSM than CDMA Touch Pros. There are many excellent ROMs for the GSM Touch Pro.
thanks for clearing that up so quickly. =)

Best source for flashing the TP (GSM)
I call it "stupidly simple"
There are more gsm roms and cdma. Look around. The best roms for me are RRE and Energy roms. Try them and you will like them. Especially RRE rom.
