i have a 32mb xda and after upgrading to wm2003 i lose the checkboxes in dialogs, if i soft reset then they come back for a while and tapping on the text next to the box enables/disables the option but i get no boxes!
most strange, also i had to turn off the ir recieve but when turned off i still got the error for com 1 with navigator, i had to uncheck it then soft reset to apply that change.
i cooked the rom from jeffs kitchen a while ago and was going to redo it but it is unavailable and Yorchs only has the 4.0.05 rom.
Any ideas on the missing dialog checkboxes.

Hi ! I had the same problem (even with no other app installed ! Just wm2003 and nothing else) , and I never solved it ... till the 4.01.00 went out. I tried this one and had no problem. All attempts I made with earlier versions were unsuccessfull ! Unfortunately, no rom kitchen use this version yet ! So I have a 'blank' rom version from T-Mobile found somewhere on a post on xda-developers.

as i unbderstand it the 4.1 rom only support gsm 900/1900 which is no good for me as a uk/orange customer.

Ditto for me. They're still "there", if you click your stylus over where they should be, you'll get them to work.
A reset clears the problem.
Looks like there's a leak that is using up the GDI heap. You can get the same type of error on desktop Windows.
the error is caused by navigator, i installed v2.24 on mine and also when i installed it on my mates xdaII he now has the same problem with checkboxes and radio buttons missing, they come back after a soft reset but go after running navigator..

smallboy. You can use 4.01.00 on Orange as long as you only update the CE Rom and not the radio stack. Just make sure you don't go onto the Band select page on the phone settings.

You need to just extract the CE rom using something like winzip, then use XDA Tools to put it onto an SD card and flash to your phone.

I have now reflashed to 4.01.00 (t-mobile) and then installed navigator and voice but not gps, upgraded nav to 2.24 then installed gps 2.09
No missing checkboxes now but stil get the initial strtup problem of no map, which is cured by going to navigator mode.

I have a xda, and unfortunately it has stopped working properly.
The problems i am facing are:
1/. I am unable to connect to it via activesync
2/. I am unable to enter the programs folder. I am however able to go into settings.
3/. When i start many/all of the programs, it says that there is not enough memory and that i should go to the memory manager and close a few. The problem is that there are no programs open!
4/. When i do a hard reset, the above problems to do go away!
Now, i last thing i have done is to install the slovoed dictionary program. The program installed fined and said that i need to reboot the device inorder to update the registry.
After reboot, all these problems started ;-(
Before i install this it worked fine!
Please help me. I really need to fix my xda.
I only have access to the sd card. I can not connect via active sync.
Can someone point me to where i can find a full back up, so that i can put it on my sd card and over write everything that is one my xda.
I am not sure exactly what i need but I am sure someone who has a greater expertise on this does.

hard reset
Have to perform a hard reset. After a hard reset the OS of a Pocket PC is reloaded from ROM, and you start with a blank system, only the OS and some applications. Also all data will be gone.
The XDA's stylus exists of 2 parts. Twist and unscrew them. Use the grey plastic part of the stylus to hard reset the XDA.
It is all in the manual.
hi, I have a little problem with active sync 4.5. before I used 4.2, coz I did not have installed vanilla before. But now I must use 4.5. When I connect device, synchronization work fine, but rapimgr.exe have 50 percent of CPU (i have HT Prescot). if I disconnect device, then is no way to connect it again, only restart PC, because process cannot be stopped any way (taskkill /pid xxx /f /t doesnt work). before I reinstall my windows (it is really necessary nevertheless) is there anybody who now what is the root cause of this problem? in work we still have w2k - no problem. I think reinstallation can solve this prob, but what is the root cause?...
I don't have this problem on any of my PC:s, did you uninstall previous version, reboot and installed 4.5?
Try uninstaling now, reboot and reinstall 4.5.
of course, did not help. And I also removed all information from registry, and delete all files in program files dir. If I have installed 4.2 no problemo. only with 4.5 (build 5096). no matter if firewall installed or not, mayby interference with some installed programs. nevermind, i am only curious what cause this. I have PDA´s for years, and this is 1st time when this happend to me.

I'm having the same problem with rapimgr
but my syncing doesn't even occur
and can't seem to run "contacts" on my hermes with the XDA Live 0.1 ROM
PC is XP Home SP2
never had a problem with Active Sync 4.2 until I installed 4.5 on top of it I think
then i tried uninstalling 4.5 and reinstalling it but doesn't seem to help any
anyone have any suggestions?
If you using older ROMs (not XDA nor vanilla - WM6) solution is to use only older version 4.2. description from MS said, that 4.5 is much much faster when transferring files and data bla bla, but for me I did not find any difference between 4.2-4.5. Perhaps I can look to MS KB base, or their forums for answers.

the problem seems to be solved. it was Sunbelt Kerio Firewall. After uninstall everything work correctly. now I downloading the last version from here and I sent report if problem occur again.
Well, I solved my problems by doing a Hard Reset and then syncing with my pc and it worked
wm6 is definitely better/ faster than wm5

I can only sync once since I have installed 4.5 and then I have to reboot the computer again. I also use the Sunbelt Kerio firewall. After reading your post I unistalled Sunbelt Kerio firewall and everything worked fine.
Now I installed the latest version of firewall again and the problem is back. Did you do anything else??

I think you can try one more thing, but then you lose all settings from previous version of kerio. Go to %root%\Program Files and delete (or backup) Sunbelt Software directory. In there is settings for kerio firewall, if you delete those files, you must set all security again, but perhaps this help. then reinstall kerio. now I am going to install other firewall, before I definitelly reinstall my OS. I also downloaded all updates from MS Win update, still same problem.

as you expected it did not solve the problem deleting all the sunbelt files with the settings. Too bad I do like the Kerio sunbelt firewall. At least I know now what the problem is.

Hi guys
I made a backup of my ameo with sprite before my upgrade to wm6 (with rom 005TMO) and Internet Sharing wasnt working properly, so I made a new backup on wm6 so i can return to wm5. When i returned i thinked the 2 operating systems merged and im having a lot of problems. In the about of the phone it still says wm6. Internet sharing still doesnt work and i have errors on boot and incorrect shortcuts...
Is there a way to restore the sprite backup file like the rom was installed, so that nothing is running and everything can be restored perfectly

Even though sprite has a rom upgrade mode. You must follow specific instructions for the backup prior to upgrade and also during the restore....basically the rule of thumb is NEVER, EVER restore after a rom upgrade (even wm5 to wm5 or wm6 to wm6)
If you just need data and not apps in main memory, you can use sprite explorer to copy files from previous backups...but then again, more people have problems with this, then say it works good...
So Never, Never restore a backup from a previous rom version. You should just hard reset and reload the apps. The internet sharing is probably something on the pc side and not a problem on the PDA. I used internet sharing everyday on both wm5 and wm6..
What are you trying to use with internet sharing? Any chance your carrier, may block that? Usually, you just connect and eveything works..Especially if using Vista Ultimate.
Thanks for the reply... actually i paid to allow my pda to share it unlimited 3g connection with my computer so i dont think thats the problem, and im not even sure if its because of the wm6 as i havnt tried internet sharing for quite some time. Basically, im connected the ameo to the pc via usb and after it connects, i open the internet sharing app on the pda and press connect. It seems that the pda because the network adapter and for that connection, i get a DNS ip and default gateway ip through its DHCP but when i open the browser, nothing
As for the hard reset, how do u do that... i have all the cds

Just tried hard reset, strangely it went back as if i had just installed wm6 - i guess the real factory settings are gone forever, but im going to try internet sharing again, fingers crossed

Try bluetooth. Usb needs to be prepared before you use it. You need to swotch off syncing, before.
Ok, after the hard reset back to factory settings of wm6, Internet sharing works. I guess when i was trying to install Bluetooth DUN (for my tomtom) it messed it up.

I have successfully upgraded to wm6. Or so I thought.
A pushserviceerror appears while starting the device. Thats no biggy, but I cant add any outlook contacts, nor can I sync them with my ones on the my vaio.
I used Charmer_Touch_GER_Beta_2.8 to upgrade.
Everything else is working fine.
Can anyone please help me?

If you have a working window, just go to Setting->System->Clear Storage
push camera & voice button and soft reset button togehter...
after hard resetting, don't interrupt the following automatic setup of the phone...
( if you do, the porblem with the outlook contact liste will still be there... )
