For some reason I keep getting two email notifications, one from yahoo and one from the @ symbol. Under accounts I see my email with the @ symbol so I try pressing remove account but it doesn't do anything so I press on it and im unable to change the username and its blank. Try just entering the password but says I need to enter the username

Open the @email app, go to settings, uncheck notifications. Then you should only get email notifications from your Yahoo app.

You are using the 'Yahoo Mail' app right? The @email app and the Yahoo email app have different settings lists. Uncheck the notification option for whichever one you dont want notifications from, the other should stay checked and continue to notify you. If you are getting duplicate notifications it is because you have told 2 apps to notify you.
All I see is the @email app. Whys that? I still get email notifications from the yahoo app but I can't find the app

I downloaded the app myself, and found it in alphabetical order under M in my app drawer, right next to Google Maps. Its a blue icon w/ an envelope on it. You dont see it?
Newbie here, I searched but sorry if this has come up before.
The 3d is my first Android phone - came from Palm Pre minus hell.
How on Earth do you turn off the sound and LED notification of every email / SMS / etc?
I've got the notifications turned off in the Mail app for each of my two accounts, but still get the BLLLIP every frickin' couple minutes.
Thanks!

use volume-down until it's on vibrate
you configure notifications from a given app from the app itself. so when you're in the main scene of an app, hit the menu key & look for Settings>Notifications.

Thanks, but I've already done that. Still get the notifications.
Calendar
I've also noticed that you can't turn on notifications but have vibrate off for the calendar events. I think this is a sense 3.0 thing, as you could do it on the EVO 4G and could do it in some custom sense 2.1 ROMs I ran. Kingdom ROM (sense 3.0) had the same issue. Wish they'd put that back in.
If you're using Gmail under settings there is an option that will only notify you once for unread emails. Once you check your mail and get new messages it'll notify once again for the next new message until you check it.
As for SMS the default app either notifies you on each app or none at all. I checked Go SMS Pro but they don't have an option that only notifies you once like Gmail does.
Edit: I had the Pre minus too, and in Android the main thing is that you use the menu button pretty much the same way in the Pre you hit the upper left corner to get the programs menu.
Thanks
Well, I'm either dumber than usual, or something is wrong.
On the page in Mail settings under "Notifications", "Email Notifications" is un-checked and set to "Off". Still get the frickin' bleep an flashing green LED on every single email.
Not sure what else I can do.
Do you have a gmail or other account. If it's a gmail account when you setup your phone by default your gmail is in the gmail app. If you setup your gmail account in the email app remove it from there and only deal with it in one place which the gmail app is the best place for it.

Aha! I was using an app labeled "Mail" which was on the first page of the home screen (or whatever the proper term is), NOT the "Gmail" app . The Gmail app also has Notification settings. How confusing.
That took care of it. Thanks a bunch!
Just a point I want to make for anyone out there who is as clueless as me:
After rooting, I found that GMail would not autosync. It instructed me to enable autosyncing in settings; however, the settings menu (B&N Style) didn't have the usual menus, and the settings accessible through GMail also didn't help. Eventually, I figured out that you need to click your e-mail in the top right-hand corner, go into menu, click account settings, click GMail under Manage Accounts, and check off the "Sync Gmail" box.
Maybe no one else needs this info, but I spent a while looking for it, so just in case.
nice find. i was using an external app to get to this menu (quick sync).
Is there a way to change the sync period? I'd like to load up some older messages onto my device.

When you are in the gmail app main screen you need to click your email address that is listed in the top right. From there you just follow the remainder of his steps posted above.

ah got it - thanks
Thank you thank you. I was worried it couldn't be done. I'm happy to be syncing gmail.
Is there any way to get the notification to show up? I get new mail but don't know it.
Have you enabled them in the gmail settings? Are you using an alternative launcher? I can see them using ADW.

Thanks for pointing this out. I knew I had seen the option before, but I couldn't remember where it was buried in the menus.
I used AnyCut to make a shortcut to Accounts & Sync. That gives me access to the settings to choose what I want to sync (reader, docs, contacts, mail, etc).
Now that my Nook is rooted, I'm trying to find a contact manager that will sync with Google contacts. Not having the phone portion of the Android system makes it difficult to load contacts!
Any ideas?
I have also been looking for this without luck. Every contacts app that I have tried force closes. I even copied the CM7 stock app from my Nook Color to my Tablet, but got the same result. Seems something is missing from our Android build....but I don't know what....
I'm using Go Contacts. It's free on the Market.
That did it! Thanks.

I'm having a hard time getting Go Contacts to sync with my gmail contacts for some reason.
I all I have to do is download/install, and then make sure it shows my gmail account in the app??
Update
And I need to learn to try every possible thing before I ask for help...I'm not actually retarded, I promise.
For those who are having problems with getting your contacts to sync:
1)Download and install Go Contacts
2)Open Go Contacts
3)Press Menu Key
4)Press Setting Icon
5)Press Backup and Recovery
6)Press Account Sync
7)Select whichever account's contacts you want to sync
8)Check the box to begin syncing Contacts
Anyone had problems creating or editing contacts? I found that for me, this and other functions weren't working until I installed the stock email app using Indirect's method. (Thread is in this same section.)
Now Go Contacts properly allows me to add/edit contacts (I guess it needs to use an outside contact editor for this, and B&N's stock doesn't work.) Now contacts-to-email functions properly.
A nice bonus is that street addresses will open in Google Maps (or Google Earth if you have either installed) and phone numbers will open a chat in textPlus.
I think the stock email app also fixed some issues with other contact managers that were crashing or giving 'no application for that' errors before. I was curious and reinstalled a few that had failed before, and some worked. But overall, none seem as seamless as Go Contacts, so I wouldn't recommend anything else.
I have the stock email installed as well as go contacts...they sync fine but I still can not edit or add contacts...both installed to system/app and both have permissions set to:
Read write
Read

Can not get go contact to edit/add
I shut down and restarted....no luck...anyone have any ideas? Maybe remove the stock social.apk?

When you say you can't get go contact to edit/add, what happens when you tap the edit icon on the top right of the screen? Can you actually edit the details? Do the changes not save?
Go Contacts works perfectly for me.
Nothing happens when I press the + button. When I long press on a contact it takes me to a menu so I can choose edit...but nothing pulls up. Thanks for responding
Anybody know where I can get the apk for Go Contacts? I see it's not in the Amazon App Store and I don't want to send it to my phone to get the apk. Thanks.

Do you have a google account set up?
When I hit the + it says "Create contact under account" and lists the gmail account I set up for the stock email account. When I choose it, I can create new contacts.
Edit brings up the same contact editor under the same account.
Hi, I don't get to see the Gmail app in desktop Mode? Is that right? Also, I use my personal phone for work and have G-suite and Google apps duplicated as personal and work (seperate) I can't see any of these either? Is there any way of getting any of this to the Desktop? Thanks.
I have same problem and I find a way to open it....
First open destkop mode and search gmail in chrome, google said gmail already installed. Then click the link in google and Gmail app open in desktop mode..........
Hi, yes thanks. Another way is to open the notifications and if you click on a Gmail notification it opens directly as well. You can then pin Gmail to the Task Bar and it is always available then. Same with the other Google apps that don't appear for some reason (Calendar, etc...). One caveat, if you are using G Suite and have a work Gmail, then no mater what the pinned Gmail icon will only open your personal email. You can open the work ones form notifications though.
