Does anyone know how to make Window Media Player recognize Chinese Characters. I have tons of Chinese songs and none of the titles can be read.

On the other hand, Ken, do u have solution to display chinese in WM5 (not WMP10 and PIE). I have installed a chinese pack for 2003 on the WM5, it is OK to display chinese filename but makes mess on showing Date and Time even on Today screen. And, as I know, CE star has been verified not to work on WM5.
Any suggested solution.
Knife Chinese is working generally but not for WMP and PIE still. Monster Chinese SIP is ok for Chinese text input.

Monster Chinese is a famous software. You should be able to find it. Can only install SIP, not the core system of monster chinese.
Make sure that they are install on the device, not storage card.

I can't fine the v3.20 at the website. Could u give a link?
finally, I have found knife v3.2 & v3.7. but whichever I installed, it failed.
Oh, I got a version 3.7 on www.penpower.com.hk, it's ok. Together with Monster Chinese SIP, it can display and input chinese on WM5 now. But there is still mess display in PIE and Email.

hi, i am japanese in china and i used try to make WM5 to chinese/japane machin, but as you know, the important file of wince.nls in windows folder, cant replace to another one. this wince.nls can make encode china and japane. Monster chinese/Cinese Star/Knifes also replace this.
(actuary, it can replaced, but cant effect)
But the old version of wince.nls cant efect in WM5.0. we have to wait chinese/japanese WM5 SDK to get wince.nls.
without effective this, no way to IE/e-mail
(in the inbox,UTF-8 can use for chinese.but not all the time)
So many encoding Softwares such like you tried, cant install or cant encode to chinese complietly.

Can CEstar work on WM2005?? I don't think so.
Between, I have already downloaded MonsterSIP 4.02 and knief V3.7. But after I installed, it don't seem to work. I still see ???? for received chinese sms. I can sent chinese sms out.
Any idea what happen?

Instead of Knife Chinese system, you could just install a Chinese Pack (I tried to upload to FTP but failed). With that, Chinese can be displayed but still mess in Pocket IE, Word and Email. That may only be solved by an updated Wince.nls captured from a chinese version WM5 device in future.

i agree that, i tried many versions of wince.nls, ppc2002/2003/wince.net, also i edited previous wince.nls by binary editor and hexeditor, but still no use. just wait for becomming one!
Simple chinese/Japanes e-mail in inbox, can be displayed if it was sent with encode of UTF-8(sorry no test for Traditional Chinese)

@ankit: try to get info about it man, its English or Russian as there is no indication in the filename itself. Try to get some info yaar, i am also trying. If you dont find out, i'll try to find it by dismantaling the ROM by tools given in GENE Kitchen.

Hey can anybody confirm the status of windows live on this ROM? Or is it not there?
That will be the best thing coz then i hope one of the cabs from this forum will work on it or atleast the official cab without the messenger will run atleast.
That ways we can have hotmail access and can use IM+ or Mundu IM for MSN messenger.

OOPS! my suspicion was correct. But the help files in the ROM are in english, remaining part is Russian i guess, i mean the UI elements.

Are yaar first we need the english version of kitchen then only we can covert or create anything. No body has shared it yet with us, dont know why. Why everybody wants the kitchen to be secret :|
Since this ROM isn't useful as it is, i am deleting the mirror :|
PS: If anybody wants the Zuma game included in this ROM or the HTC Diamond Ringtones, i have extracted those, tell me and i'll upload.

Found the solution for the application unlock here : http://www.mobilejaw.com/articles/2009/01/removing-the-application-lock-on-htc-s740-smartphone/
But that doesn't solve the problem when installing the Gregory_HTCHomeN.cab installation. Still getting an installation error (translated from dutch: Installation unsuccesfull, program can't be installed or a setting can't be processed because of not the correct systemauthorisation is available)

I think both do the same thing - I couldn't remember the registry settings when I needed to do it, so went the easy way.
Does the homescreen need any separate plugins - smartmonitor for example?
The Greogry_HTCHomeN.cab is a standalone plugin, is doesn't need anythinh else.
It seems to be running on the "vox" an those type of Smartphones with WM6.0 and WM6.1 Standard Editions.
Can't find a specific reason why it will not run on my (dutch) htc-s740.

Hi. I think its because of the totally new concept of the homescreen on the WM 6.1 standard edition devices. Its different to the WM 6 edition. In my opinion, any today plugin from a WM 6 device will not run on a WM 6.1 device.
P.S. why dont you like the original homescreen HTC plugin delivered with the Rose. I think, its great and has everything from your Gregory plugin. If you like to configure the plugin on the rose, use the homescreen configurator CHome http://smartphonenutsandbolts.wordpress.com/2008/05/17/chome-configurator-for-wm-61/ Works very well on my Rose.
The gregory_htchome doesn't seem to run on my dutch S740.
Too bad, but i just doesn't work. Don't know why.
Switch back to the Standard HTC Home pugin, and play a little more with the home screen configurator.

I also have a problem installing the normal HTC Home plugin on my Dutch S740 phone. I'm a newbie so please be gentle.
It gives an error when I want to install a random version of the HTC Home Plugin. Something that the installation file isn't suitable for my device. Where can I download the correct version of the HTC Home Plugin for my dutch version?

I saw a \windows\htc folder with 2 different files, should those be copied to the \windows folder ? The \htc Files are older than the original ones.
yes yes i know that ! they are much older, but there is no way out , these are very diverent versions of the weather-app , the original for the chome and the gregory for home plugin. you have to backup the original (if you want) and overwrite the files to get an working weather on gregorys-htc-home

I downloaded installed from ctrpda, but facing strange problem with missed call.
Sometimes missed calls are not appearing in the list, mobile alret shows 1 missed call, but when I view missed call list, its just not threre.

I cannot undo it because the password is not good. Help me!
Installed app works well. One little problem. The calendar seems to be in russian and will only go as down as year 2443. Wich is verry annoying. Got any suggestions for that?
The original Greek ROM with some programs removed and most of the rest updated,
from "RUU_Mega_Orange_RO_1.37.70.1" and "RUU_Mega_hTC_Asia_SEA_WWE_1.37.728.3".
Radio version is also the latest.
Build is 21916, which is the most reliable, fast and bug free release.
ROM was created for personal use, since I couldn't find any other simple Greek ROM, and doesn't have any other improvements beacause I'm still a newbie!!
It's been running for two days now on my phone and I haven't found any bugs.

You should have a gmail account and synchronizing it with your phone, through ActiveSync. Then just follow the instructions here: google-calendar-eortologio!!!

I have the same question. I want to translate and cook my ROM. I have the original WWE dumped. I could use some Help. Generaly I am looking for the easiest way of translating a ROM.

Dear Helleenes friends,
found the solution in this program: GREEK LENG FOR WINDOWS MOBILE POCKET PC
it's not so expensive ($49,95), Greek MIO's service demanded 60 Euros to install the Greek ROM.
Since I'm not allowed (yet) to attach an external link, make a Google search using:
Penreader Greek Language Support
and you'll find it. You can download it for a free trial, to see if it works with your device.
And the most important is that the program just translate the full menu,
in case you want to "return" to the English version all you have to do is to unistall it
By the way WORKS FINE with my MIO A702 !!!

Since you have your original rom already dumped you're gonna need one more rom, which is in GREEK and is for your device.
Them it's just a matter of opening both roms with osKitchen and copy paste the language files from one to the other.

Unstable ROM
I tried this ROM on my HTC Mega, and i was suprised in a bad way that this ROM created problems from the first moment. The problem went so far that my usb connenction with my PC disconnected and reconnected in intervals of seconds, so that a flashing back even almost bricked my pda.
