Simple table stand for HD - Touch HD Accessories

Today I've stumbled upon this cool stand for iPhone, and since this is something I've been searching for, I was wondering if anyone knows any good table stands that could be used with Touch HD?
Or perhaps if that iPhone stand can be used with HD? I doubt it, although the dimensions are very similar.
I don't want a charger or desktop cradle, just want a nice stand with horizontal / vertical option, so that I can put my HD into when I want to watch movies on it.

I doubt that that stand will work with the Touch HD - it'll be moulded around the shape of the iPhone (which is why there are two different versions for the iPhone and the Touch, because they aren't the same shape).
The only thing I've come across so far is the little fold-out stand that comes with the 5800, it fits the Touch HD fine in a landscape orientation.

Heey, thanks a lot! This is exactly what I'm looking for!

That last one is very similar to the stand that's included with the Nokia 5800:
As I say, I've managed to acquire one and it's actually really nice, especially since it can be folded shut.
I tried again today and I'm afraid it won't hold the HD in a portrait position but I never really thought it would to be honest.
I'll try and get some pictures up soon (ie when I clear enough space on my desk to take some...).

How about the in-car holders they are perfect for a simple table stand. Just succer them to the desk and there you have it a perfect desk holder.

@ Rozenthal
The stand Xtand for iPhone/iPod Touch fits for the HD. I have one and I like it. Look at http://www.xtand.net/.

Looks very nice, and as I suspected, HD fits in nicely because it's size difference from iPhone is 0.8mm at it's highest.
However, I also found this very, very sexy stand from USA. It's a 360 degree stand, but with one unique feature - it can both tilt and rotate, so you can adjust it in all directions.
Unfortunately, they still don't have a shipment to Europe organized And it's just absurdly expensive - almost 70$!!!

Do you think the Touch HD fits exactly in this stand? I'm not shure, but may be. The xTand holds the HD very well. And as well as the shown stand you can rotate the device "around the clock".
josj

Well, I can't be 100% sure, because I don't have a chance to test it.
But since iphone and HD have almost EXACT same dimensions, and the overall side shape is similar as well, I would say it should hold HD pretty well. If not even tighter then iPhone, for that matter, because HD is half a millimeter wider.

The issue is not just the size though - if those clips are moulded to fit the tapered body of the iPhone, you may not be able to 'clip' the Touch HD into it.

mmm
Fantasic !!!!!! I have made one.. and now I have a stylish desk stand !!
thanks !!

What about a Case/Cover for TP2?

All the HTC devices I've had (XDA. XDAII, Universal, Athena, Touch Cruise) have been capable of being used safely and snugly in good leather (usually Piel Frama), but none these had a slide out KB
I've seen the Kaiser clip-in solutions on the web, but I would like something with 'Bounceability'.
Any words of comfort out there?

LOL. I have been looking at those too. I thought they might get scratched as well and ending up looking a bit rough. And the cost isn't exactly cheap right? Also, do you think a clip on will work for the slide out keyboard?
^yes, a clip on would work great! I've been using a Seidio clip for my Hermes (which has a keyboard). It's one of the best for ease of use & very good device protection!

Thanks for the tip, I will look into this and see if it will work when the TP2 comes out. I am sure there will be a few nice cases when they start dispatching the TP2. Which hopefully will be very soon.
It comes with a case in the retail box. It is more a pouch, the TP2 slide in from the side.
Have a look at the following unboxing video's;

Mine does. The problem is that you have to take the device out to use it, including answering calls or charging, maybe someone with the steady hand of a brain surgeon would be happy to do this on a daily basis, but I'd prefer to have my expensive toy safely and snugly enveloped in fine leather for all day to day use.
Agree, it should be covered like a baby all the time!

Well that's certainly true - it looks good. But it lacks a belt clip, so I don't think I'll use it that often. I don't think the case (or pouch, more like) will fit in my pants pocket and I'm sure as hell not going to carry along a purse for my phone
The Krusell thing looks nice, but it's rather expensive and I don't want to be having the thing encased forever. Just a simple pouch like the one supplied will do, but I would definately like one with a clip. Worked well for my P4350Herald, which is in prime condition after more then 2 years of use.
And also: I noticed there's no keychain attachment possible on the Rhodium. Bummer =( It saved my Herald once from being stolen out of my hands on a trainstation
Yeah I like the case that comes with the box, but as someone has pointed out, you have to take it out whenever you want to use it. It's fine at home or inside a building. But if you are walking on the road / tram / bus, it can be quite annoying
Piel Frama ( http://www.pielframa.com ) say they will have a case for the TP2 in about 15 days

There's an IKEA about 20 minutes from my house and just across the street from my office. They do have a lot of cheap disposal quality crap but they also sell some pricey things that are built really well too.
Thinking more about it, Ikea is not that close, and doing a quick search I could probaby find a table easel made of metal for not much more but local. I would only use it for watching movies when not on the couch. hmm like at the office
Is the bottom of the holder large enough that you could cut a slot in the bottom to make the connector accessible without compromising the structural integrity of the stand?

What connector are you referring to? The dock connector on the bottom? The USB connector on the top left? The power connector on the lower left?
Looking at the photos it doesn't look like there is any kind of a groove on the horizontal piece of wood so it would seem the tab could slide off pretty easilly if you're poking at the tablet. But it does look like it's about 50% wider than the thickness of the tablet.
If you're talking about having the power cord plugged into it while you have the tablet in portrait mode then why not flip it so that the power port is on top and not the bottom? That's what I do when I use my Arkon foldable stand and I need to charge the tablet at the same time.

No need for modifying the stand, just place it upside down, most ROMs and application will auto rotate, you will free the connector as well as get a better viewing angles as reported by many.

I think I've seen that one in a search result, how do you find it for stability? I'd hate to have something that's easy to topple.
There's loads on Amazon but none particularly cheap. Cheapo option is to use a picture frame or plate stand. Sounds stupid but they do the job. It's not like you'll see them once the pad is on it. Either that or you could make one yourself if you're handy with tools, and don't burn down the house.

That thing is stable as a rock! I put it every where... I even keeps my TF upright when it's standing on the mattress at night! It has padded rubber feet and the same rubber at the part where the tablet rests so it cannot slip easily. Well worth the money and it's foldable....

Why cant you have the transformer's port at the top, and plug it in that way? The screen will adjust fine. You need a usb 3.0 extension cable of course though.

I think that Boxwave is the OEM for all these. I have the (identical) Targus version, and it works well. The only issue I have is that if I apply RainX to the screen, the pen detection is spotty until the RainX has worn a bit. Otherwise, it's quite useful.

Cuts down on fingerprints quite a bit (since I don't use a screen protector) and makes the surface extremely smooth when sliding your finger around. If the prints don't bother you -- they drive me nuts -- or you use the stylus the majority of the time, it's not worth the effort. Also, anyone with a screen protector in place definitely should not apply a product like that to the surface.
There are a lot of them from Dealextreme if you need.
Got one of these too, Targus branded. I just wonder who thought it would be a great idea to add the sharp metal ring so close to the tip. I use mine quite a bit, but I'm always a bit scared of writing at too much of an angle so the metal cuts into my precious glass.

does anyone who uses one of these pens have the invisiSHIELD on? because i have that on my asus and would hate to purchase one of these only to realize it doesn't work too well with the screen protector.
Edit: just bought one. works beautifully.
I have a targus branded one from walmart, and rain-x applied to the screen, and it works flawlessly. Way better than touch input and you can make use of that autocad sketchbook app... its really nice.
after having a fat end for a week, and reading your feed back, and playing with a few on screen writing programs..
plus also learning how to write chinese charactors.. I am keen to go a bit further with this.. and get a better one for sharper writing..
I am using a screen protector that I brought the day i got this thing.. and find it just as sensitive to writing with my pen.. as my Evo is with a screen protector..
I would love to take this a step further and have my chinese staff write on it.. then be able to have handwritten recognition going no so that I could then copy an past it in to a translator..

I dunno, it's really not as bad as you might think! It's cheap, it's minimalistic, and it works brilliantly! Maybe I should make another short video showing what it looks like in my car
One other added little bonus is that, when setting my Tab down on like a desk or table, since it rests on the soft fuzzy velcro instead of its metal casing, it's somewhat protected from possibly getting scuffed on the back.
For about $3 at your local RadioShack, you really can't go wrong

For about $3 at your local RadioShack, you really can't go wrong

valid points, but what about when you take the velcro off, you would be left with marks there, i cant wait to get the leather case which will protect it
i got this one but i only payed 19.99, he seller has since upped the price to 29.99 and has sold close to 50 of these:

Not as much as you might think. I did the same thing with my original GTab, and there was nothing left behind from the Velcro when I sold it. If anything, those two strips just kept that area clean and unscathed. No sticky residue or anything!

Indeed. I mean, it's a really significant price difference!
I'll be putting up a YouTube video of mine in my car soon, so keep a lookout for that!

Video's up!
I actually went to buy the keyboard from a local vendor and they said hey we also have the car mount so i picked one up also.. Looks sweet.. I wish it had a speaker phone in the base like the Galaxy Nexus car mount but then again the speakers are plenty loud on the tab as it is.. I think i bought every accessory already.! Except the hdmi adapter.. I dont see a need for it as both my TV's have dlna clients built in so i can stream media to the TV's over my 802.11 N 5ghz wlan..

Tab 7.7
Just FYI DLNA is handy but in my opinion it's not a viable substitute for the HDMI adapter if you plan on using your device to output to a TV. DLNA doesn't do well with all file formats and it's kind of torturous to advance or rewind. The HDMI adapter lets you use the tab pretty much like you would normally. I don't think DLNA is really all that mature yet. It will be better when future versions can simply mirror your device to the TV via WiFi rather than the very limited way it operates now.
I use DLNA everyday to watch video content through out my home no problem.. it maybe a young protocol.. but i havent had any problems.. i agree with you about not supporting all codecs/formats but i believe this is a limititatiin of the tab as mkv, m2ts wont play on the device pulling from my nas boxes.. but my tvs have played all formats that ive thrown at it up to 1080p 5.1ac3 over 802.11n 5ghz...

No audio out what so ever.., it connects to the plate via a DC connector not USB... Hope this helps..

Fit for Car Mount
Does anyone know if the car mount will allow you to mount the tab if it has a thin back cover case in place? I have the Rock Ultra Thin case and I like it, but I don't want to have to remove it every time I want to put it in the car (daily).

also curious about this. it appears it can only mount without any cases/skins. sucks because theres no way im walking around with this thing without a case.
No. It is a tight fit, especially around the corners.
