Need free sprint TelNav cab please. - Touch Pro CDMA

:Hi I was wondering if there was a free telnav app out there for touch pro.

Give this one a shot...
CAB upload failed ; here's a Rapidshare link.

How about the the Touch Pro?
The Download link you provided is for the Diamond. I have the Touch Pro, Even though they are kind of the same, there are some irritating differences.
Please list the TouchPro link if you could.
Thanks!

I've scoured XDA and PPCGeeks, and that file is the newest CAB I can find. If you can point me to a Sprint TP OEM ROM, then I can extract the CAB from there.

The diamond cab for Telenav works for the Touch Pro. Just do a search for the cab. I think theres one @ PPCGEEKS

Don't you still get charged for using the service?

Thank You for the Cab
I am trying it now on my TP.

there is a cab on ppc Geeks. I lost it when I started messing with new ROMs and i have never had a problem re-installing it with that Cab

telenav
this is the direct link to DL telenav for the TP directly to your device
http://ota.telenav.com/ota/sn/nav

I have the TP CAB.
Here ya go.

yes you still get charged...while the cab is free, the service is not. You will either have to pay 2.99 a day or 5 bucks a month for it to work. If you are looking for a free ppc navigation app I think IGO8 or TomTom might be free. If not then google maps can use gps but it just shows you the overhead view of the map

New Version
I was prompted to upgrade yesterday. Not sure what has changed.

It has locked up on me twice since upgrading. I'm wondering if they added bugs. Both times were in rural areas. Anyone else have trouble with the latest version?

Ummm not sure about this, but as far as I know they won't sell you the phone in sprint w/o a data plan and since the GPS requires internet connection for positioning you SHOULD NOT get charge for something that is suppose to come with the phone

the only phone that requires a data plan for sprint is the instinct. You can buy the touch pro and touch diamond without a data plan but there really is no point in doing that. As for the telenav, it is like sprint tv and sprint music...they include it with a 3 day trial and if you like you can add it to your service for $5 a month or at $2.99 a day. It also comes free with the simply everything data plan. As far as the gps using the internet connection I believe that you can get a GPS lock without using data but i'm not 100% sure about that.

Weird because I do not pay for anything extra and I do not have the unlimited data plan ....

sometimes, depending on who you get to set up your account, you can get sprint telenav for free. You can also call sprint and talk them into giving you it for free by telling them that you were led to believe that it would be included in your plan and if you talk to retentions they can definitely hook you up with free telenav. And I believe that there is a data plan below the simply everything plan that includes telenav as well....what data plan are you on?

telenav on Verizon TP
i have this running on my verizon Touch pro
and works just great
so now how does this work?
will i get charged my VZ for some unknown service on their network?

MDA Touch Plus MyFaves + cooked roms

hey,
i have just purchased a Touch Plus (Dual) after selling my Kaiser due to it being utter ****e, I am really happy with the phone and am looking at using toms cooked rom, the problem is the price plan i am on with T-Mobile UK requires its own app called MyFaves which AFAIK is built into the custom rom T-Mobile include, its used to manage my 5 chosen contacts which work with my price plan, my question is if i install the cooked rom will it remove this app and how do i get it back as my price plan wont work without it,
Regards
Xionic
im with t-mobile on the flext plan with same phone and i dont think i have that app... maybe its just a case of them sending it to you like an sms that you accept.
think something like that happened on my mda vario
Regardless of the t-mob contract you're on the app is in there - just depends whether it's activated or not. It's also hidden as a 4th side to the cube.
As to how you'd extract it I don't know, sorry It runs as a service and has reg keys in various places. There are also a number of brn files for the cube so stripping it out will not be easy.
yea i work for t-mobile and can definately confirm the MyFaves app cannot be sent to the phone or be downloaded from anywhere, the only option i can see is for someone to extract it, i know it has been done on the US version, anyone who could do this would be great, and i would be happy to pay
Bump, anyone???,
can't you tell them that you're using another phone and would like to find out a work around or if they can send you that application to install onto another windows mobile phone?
Surely you don't need an app for this? Just call the numbers as usual right??
As I state above I work for t-mobile (customer services), if there was a simple way round it i'd know about it, and I've spoken to techy's and everyone and there is no way to install the app' its included with the rom and the price plan does not work correctly without it, only way round this i can see is for someone to use a t-mobile branded handset and try and extract the program from the rom.
Try install Myfaves cab files in here.....

I have the Tmobile MyFav 2000 family plan and have the stock HTC Touch Dual WWE rom. Where I am located the application is not needed, you just need to login to your tmobile account online and manage your MyFav's manually. It took me a while to find because its buried in there. It lets you plug in a number and a name.
I have checked my bill and I am not penalized for those numbers. The application only makes it easy to change the MyFav's wich Tmobile only allows you to do every so often (I think every 30 days)
Hope this helps,
if you are unable to find the MyFav's section online let me know, I will help build a map to it.

Strange, I have nothing like that in mine that I have spotted!

Need ADVICE!! Please help.

I lost my phone last night in a yellow cab in NYC.
I had the tasker setup to locate phone when i text it a certain mssg.
I tried this morning to track down my phone but the taxi was all over the place and its nearly impossible to get my phone because even when it did stop moving...the adress it gave me was a large apt building and theres no way i can get my phone back even if i do know its in the building somewhere.....
I need any advice i can get please.
I would get in touch with the cab company.
Walk into the apartment with dual Uzis and go door-to-door until someone looks scared ****less. No, but seriously, just call the cab company, ask if anyone used the cab to arrive at that apartment or near the area, then yeah, how you confront them I'm not too sure.

The worst part about this is knowing where it is and knowing i have a limited amount of time to find it before its gone forever...and as far as i can see i think its still in the cab as ive been tracking the phone by gps and its been all over the city....I just dont know the cab medallion number and its nearly impossible to catch this cab driving around in the city.
I don't know if tasker gives you network or GPS location. There is an app called lookout plan b. You can install it from market.android.com from a computer onto your phone remotely and locate your phone with GPS. If that's more accurate, that may help you track it down easier.

Yes Entropy ive tried many times and at first it just seemed that it was still in the back of the cab unnoticed as no one was picking up. I went online and suspended my service and i also know now that the battery has died since my gps location isnt responding anymore and when tried to call goes straight to voicemail now.
One thing is that i checked my call log online and noticed there was a 911 call made from the phone yesterday at around 7pm. The phone is locked so he must have either tried to get in thru the emergency call or called 911 to report the missing phone.
Either way i called the 2 precincts in Manhattan that receive lost items and claim nothing was brought in. It seems to me that even if it was, they would not want to tell me anyway, and are really rude.
I lost my chance of finding the phone as it is dead now and the service has been cancelled. maybe if someone tries to charge it up and turns it on i can try to track it again.
I had no insurance on the phone. But i did pay for the phone with my american express gold card and they have a protection plan that covers stolen/ accidental damage till 90 days after purchase. I sent a claim to them so hopefully they will reimburse me the money paid . Then i called ATT to mail me another sim card to my house. My brother has an upgrade and i spoke to the rep and he said i can do a cross upgrade where i can get a phone for the upgrade price without having his line added to a data plan as well.
In the end i might get the same phone back for free but with having another line on my family plan under a 2 year contract. I loved that phone a lot...running your kernel and unnamed. Even if i get the same phone again...idk if it will be the same for me lol.
Also im so stupid i didnt have any nandroid backups on my comp and were only on my sd card. lucky i had titanium backup stored in my dropbox so that is good.
Also lookout for android is ****. After i realized i had lost it...i upgraded to lookout premium for 14 days free trial and tried to lock and wipe my phone. didnt work. tried to locate my phone using that as it stated it might be more accurate. didnt work. tried to use the scream function. didnt work. nothing worked and i tried searching forums and i think a lot of ppl have problems with it not working... I should have tested it out before i actually needed it.
Also thank god for 1.3.1 update that fixed the lock screen issue that i installed a couple days ago...otherwise all my info was just out in the open....im still worried tho...wish the stupid wipe function worked.

Use Aria as a dumb phone without data plan possible?

Well, I have jumped ship from the Aria to the Galaxy s2 and wanted to find out if I could give this phone to my mom to be used as a simple "dumb" phone - she has no need for data, texting, or any networking other than simple phone calls - her existing flop phone is craptastic and on its last legs. I have her line as a third number on my account, but it is only voice. If I turned off all the mobile connections and removed the data APN, would ATT be able to detect it as a smart phone and force a data plan onto that number? It is rooted and running CM7 if that matters.
Thanks,
T
Yes, they can tell it's a smartphone, and they will force you into a data plan even with data disabled on the phone. I'm not sure how that can be legal but they do it anyway.
That sucks. Do they key in on the IME number?

I used a smart phone for over 3 years with no data....but went to 2gig for personal reasons. So has my wife. Neither of us have been forced into doing so. They only see if you are actually mobile connected. Just remove the apn and never turn on data. They could use the imei, but that would be more trouble than its worth to sift through them all.

You've been lucky then. I'm merely stating AT&T's official policy that all smartphones must have data plans, regardless of whether you are on contract with them or don't use any data whatsoever. There have been numerous posts over the past year or so here about AT&T customers being forced into data plans. However, there have also been mixed reports about some people being forced into tethering plans when attempting to tether for free through rooted/jailbroken devices, and others have been able to tether constantly without anything happening to them. I have no idea why AT&T's systems detect it for some people and not for others.
Although, even if you do get forced into a data plan, all you have to do is switch the SIM card back into a regular phone then call AT&T to have them remove the data plan and you will either not be charged at all or be charged a very small pro-rated amount. So there's really no risk in trying it.

Their systems already check your IMEI automatically for other reasons. When you move your SIM card into another device, you can log onto the AT&T website and see that it shows the updated device attached to your phone (I think it takes up to 24 hours to update though).

So I guess they are cracking down on the newer people. I have been with at&t since they were cingular so I guess I was and have been grandfathered in for a while.
In short for the OP question.... Do as Drumist says and try the sim in it. If they try and force you, then pull the sim.
On a side note.... At&t are being bullies aren't they. I have read of them trying this for people with international unlocked phones as well. That said.... It's their network to do with as they please.

I've been using smart phones without data plans for nearly 6 years now, starting with the Treo 650, then the LG Incite (WM6), and now the Aria.
When I upgraded the phones, I simply put the old SIM into the new phone - never heard a peep from AT&T.
Maybe I'm lucky, but I have something on my account called "
Smartphone Exclusion", which I believe came with my plan on my first Cingular phone.
I have data opt-out on my feature list as well.

Internet Sharing with AT&T

Is there any way to get around the internet sharing restriction on AT&T? My data plan doesn't allow tethering but my Android phones with custom ROMs don't care. Is there any way around this? My old Samsung WP7 phones which were hackable could be forced to allow it using provxml and registry editing, but those aren't available for the 920.

Has anyone tried this yet then? Maybe the European ROM? I just got the phone yesterday so I have two weeks to return or exchange it if it gets bricked. I'm not going to move to a family share plan and pay $50/month more.
There is a thread here that someone tried to flash a different ROM and got bricked.
Where is this thread? I can't seem to find what the individual did to cause a brick. I would be very interested to know.
Just search it. It is here. He flashed a ROM not for his specific model of 920 (there are 3 different models for L920) and bricked the phone, If you like to flash custom ROMs and hacking phones, Windows Phone is the wrong choice. You should have stuck with Android phones.

I don't care about all that, all I want to do is tether with my phone. The rest is fine the way it is. I just don't want to go to a family share plan because it will be MUCH more expensive than what I'm currently paying.
I hope someone finds an exploit in WP8 that lets us have registry access then I can disable this stupid check. I don't see how this **** is legal.
Good luck with that. Check out the Lumia 900 forum. Those ppl are still waiting for this so called registry hack ever since that phone was released early 2012.

Yeah if this doesn't come soon then I may have to go back to my Android Galaxy Note as my primary phone. Windows Phone STILL doesn't let me tether or have a good google talk client. Two simple things.
Google doesn't like Mircosoft. As simple as that. So, if Google's service is important to you, you should stay with Android. There is no official Google Maps, Google Voice, Google Talk. On the plus side, there will be new Skype client (totally redesigned) coming soon to WP8.

How is answering your questions being "defensive" and worth calling him a fanboy over? I don't really think google has any interest in porting their applications until the userbase for WP8 grows larger (and AFAIK there's no official app to use google talk on my iPhone either), and for that reason it's better to roll with an android phone if you want to fully utilize google services and pain-free tethering for now.
And since I'm interested in a tethering solution as well, are people with unlocked/non-at&t branded Lumia 800s and 900s able to use internet sharing on at&t?

The tone he is answering in is defensive, so that's why I said that.
I'd also like to know if someone has tried to tether with a Rogers Lumia 920. It's also an RM-820 model so its ROM should work on the AT&T L920. I don't see any RM-820 ROMs on NaviFirm, though. Hopefully something gets uploaded before my 14 day return window is up in case it bricks. I'm going to keep my Galaxy Note but sometimes I like to just enable internet sharing very quickly so that I can do something on my laptop without the hassle of moving the SIM to my other phone. Especially now that it requires me to have that stupid paperclip thing to remove the SIM from the phone.

I don't think the chances of this happening within the next 2 weeks are very likely unfortunately, especially if there are no unlock codes for the 6 month exclusivity period. I'm holding off on a purchase entirely until something shows up, it's a feature I use too much and I'm not switching to a tiered/shared data plan.
I have the "internet sharing"
Mine's a 920 from AT&T... I can turn on internet sharing... I haven't done anything to the phone.....

Shared data plan or 4GB or more tiered data plan qualifies for tethering because your data is capped. Most ppl want this feature through hacking is because they are on unlimited data plan and never will be qualified for tethering.

The 2GB and 3GB data plans don't allow tethering. It's total BS and I am not going to increase my bill because they only want me to use my 2GB plan on my phone.
Family share data plans qualify for tethering so it will turn on. They cost a **** ton more than the old plans if you aren't using tablets or laptops though.
The bottom line is AT&T wants you to pay certain amount monthly before they allow you to tether. The real truth is that AT&T's network is heavily congested, especially on HSPA side. They can't afford everyone jump in with free tethering. I certainly won't pay extra in order to be able tethering. On the other hand, even when I had my phone capable of tethering, I rarely ever use it. So, it is not that a big deal. If you using it heavily, AT&T will catch you sooner or later anyway.

Any roms to flash that will enable tethering on an ATT 920?

Got the ATT one, don't use ATT, any suggestions?

Gotta pay to play...
Anyway, it's likely that this option is SIM-controlled like it is on the iPhone, meaning that if the SIM is not provisioned with a tethering plan it will not be available in the menu. It's not the same as the CDMA-based Android devices where it can be enabled in ePST on the handset.

It's not SIM controlled, as you can install an app on a jailbroken iPhone to enable tethering. There has also been cases where an official app has been released through the App Store that had an "easter egg" which could also allow tethering. Hopefully something can be released for our phones.
Perhaps an app or something could be released but as far as a Custom ROM, I dont think we will be lucky enough to see any. If Nokia made the 920 as secure as the 900 we're screwed as far as Custom ROMs go. People gave up a long time ago trying to break the security on the 900. I wish this wasnt the case, but it is.

read the 2nd sentence... There has also been cases where an official app has been released through the App Store that had an "easter egg" which could also allow tethering. Hopefully something can be released for our phones.

How is that possible on ATT though and with ATT allowing such a thing? I had Verizon a few weeks ago, and all I had to do to tether without paying was make a change in the Field Settings. Then BAM, I could tether.
With ATT, they let you try and turn Tethering on, but it then checks your data plan and if you arent paying extra for it, it wont let you. In the 2 or so years WP7 has been out, I have yet to see an APP like that on WP. The ONLY way for us to get around it, is to be able to Interop Unlock our phones and have a Custom ROM that allows it. And I think most of us dont think there is much of a chance WP8s, let alone the Nokia 920, will get hacked and able to load Custom ROMs.
Maybe some day theyll figure out how to hack the WP8 OS in general, but with the 900 being as secure and hack proof as it was, I think we are screwed as far as getting the 920 hacked.
