Memory cards - Touch Diamond2, Pure Accessories

Hello everyone.
This is my first post so be nice to the new guy.
I'm after an 8GB memory card that will give me the fastest xfer rates when put in a TD2?
I don't know which to choose between 2 sandisk (sdsdqy-8192-e11M and sdmsm2Y-8192-e11m) and a Kingston (sdc4/8gb). The Kingston ones states it's a class 4 device but the sandisk ones don't. Is one better than the other or is their another which wipes the floor with these brands?

Looking in to this myself at the mo, except at 16GB. From what I can see the 2 sandisk's you mention are both class 6 with SDMSM2Y-8192-E11M having a read speed of 15MB/s as oppose to 10MB/s for the other one.

Bit more reading done.
I found this article on a US website in which the author implies they have information from HTC themselves that their mobile devices host bus will only run at SDHC class 2 speeds. I've emailed HTC myself to see if they will shed any light on this.
Turns out from what I am reading that as in most things, the speed is that of the slowest link so if the host is class 2 then whilst a class 6 card will work, you may not get the best throughput or achieve a lesser throughput than you would otherwise expect from the class of the card.
I then tried the Kingston memory website which lists the Diamond 2 in its list of devices they have memory for. Now, they say that for 8GB (my chosen capacity) a class 4 card is what I should go for and for Galvinize's chosen capacy (16GB), a class 2 card is recommended. I've emailed Kingston to see if they will shed any light on this.
I'll post back if I hear from HTC or Kingston.

The Diamond 2 spec sheet says it's sd 2.0 compatible so anything higher would be wasted on it.

After thinking this over last night, I came to the conclusion that a class 2 device would be more than adequate anyway, what possible use is there for being able to read and write at 10MB/s ? I can see the need for high end photography, where you need to punt a large amount of data on to the card in as short a time as possible in order for the camera to be ready for the next shot. But for your phone, where the data on the card will be largely static (MP3s, programs, Pictures, documents e.t.c) I see no need for the extra speed. It will take a little while longer to copy the content on to the card to start with, but after that I doubt you will notice any difference.

I am quickly coming to that conclusion too. Apart from high end photography which, I would imagine rules me out, and maybe video, the only real IO streaming I think you may do is with GPS. Even then you'd have to be going at jet aircraft speeds.
As the TD2 isn't available to me yet (T-Mobile in the UK), I may wait to see what HTC and Kingston come back with. If nothing then I'll go for class 2 and upgrade to 16GB like you.

I think most 16 GB cards are class 2 at the moment. At least, lokking at ebay and some shops, they either mention class 2, or no class at all (which is likemey class 2 too). I did not find a single 16 GB card of class 4, let alone class 6.
I think 16 GB are a little bit too new to be available in the faster variety yet, it should change in the months to come.

I've ordered 16GB Kingston microSD card today...it's written as Class4. We'll see...monday is the shipping day, tuesday is receiveing day...i'll test.

Very interested in seeing the outcome of your tests: I have seen a report ( http://www.ldlc.be/critiques/PB0008...tateur-sdhc-garantie-10-ans-par-kingston.html - it's in french...) from a guy who ordered a Kingston 16GB class 4 card and ended up with a class 2. So I guess one have to be extra-careful even if the card is advertised as class 4 (the online shop is a big one and has good reputation, so is Kingston....getting a class 2 for a class 4 was not expected)

the 1,2,4 and 8GB are real class 6 the 16GB is a class 4
normal sdhc are class 2.

I DONT, i got the 8GB class 2 (for now).
but for that litle extra (say 5 a 7,5 euro extra) you can have a class 6.
lets say more BANG 4 your BUCK. More SPEED is always NICE.

Sandisk 8GB didn't work out of the box
interestingly, when I put in my new Sandisk 8GB card in the Touch Diamond 2, it was recognised only fleetingly (for about 0.5 second) and then disappeared from both File Explorer and settings, memory. Only after I formatted the card in a laptop was it recognised and usable in the Touch Diamond 2. There were some Sandisk files on the card (prior to formatting...)
