Hi all! Quick question. I have a verizon XV6800 and I just finally redid everything to get my GPS working once again. Problem is, I want try out another rom, and I was curious as to if I needed to set up the phone again via QPST afterwards, or can I just add the Telus GPS cab to get the GPS working again?
Thanks!
A flash with a custom ROM should not mess up your QPST settings. At least that is my experience with Telus. However, a lot of official ROMs will mess them up. Especially if you flash with a different carrier's ROM.
Chances are that you would not have to re-do the QPST if you are sticking with custom ROMs. I have gone back and forth between a few and not had any problem.
I went back to stock Alltel to look at a few things, and had to re-do QPST afterward.
I'd venture to guess that stock ROMs can reset QPST, whereas custom ROMs won't. You can always double check by simply running QPST and looking for yourself after flashing.
Hope this helps!
Ivan
Great, thanks for the info! That's what I figured, considering that the QPST program seems to edit much more than just software based OS stuff.
Thanks!
From my experience, the only settings that get changed have to do with EVDO.
This is the thread explaining how to fix it if you run into trouble:

bare in mind that I have USCC, so the values you would need to enter will be different.

Among other possible problems, you definitely applied the wrong radio. v3.27 of the CDMA radio from February was only intended for builds off of a very early and leaked pre-release Sprint testing ROM.
Where did you get informatino to flash to that radio version?
Hi,
I'm with Telus, and been running custom roms for a while now, without any problems... until now.
To make a long story short, I was stupid enough to let the Sprint customization run on the latest stock rom; from then on, I couldn't get any data connection from any custom rom I tried. All in all, a pretty common problem.
So, in order to fix the Sprint customization, I re-flashed the latest stock Telus rom, and that went great. Re-locked the phone, and re-flashed a custom rom (dcd 3.2.x, everytime with the Telus carrier cab of course) believing that all would be working good now. But, I still couldn't get a data connection.
I flashed back the stock rom, and tested there if I could get the connection; lo & behold, the data connection actually works with the stock rom! I've done that pattern a couple times now, and everytime I flash a custom rom, I can't get data to work, even tough it seems to work all right when using the stock rom.
I never seen references of that problem when data only works with the stock rom; any idea what I can do to repair the data connection for custom roms? Thanks a lot.
install the Telus carrier cab. thats the only reason why u dont get data. I'm with Telus as well and run the latest from DCD w/no problems. Make sure u have the latest or min. req. radio.
This has been checked and done over and over. I always install the telus cab. I tried installing it multiple times. I tried installing an older one. I tried an older radio. I tried a hard reset.
Sorry, but I really need something not as obvious as installing the carrier tab to fix the problem.

There have been several threads and posts regarding your specific issue. Please search a little more next time, because you would have found the answer.
You will not get data working again until you get a DMU reset from your carrier. The Sprint customizations overwrote your DMU keys and they need to be reset. Flashing the stock rom refurbishes your PRI and gets the rest working fine, but for data this is the ONLY way, next to swapping your phone out for a new one.
But why does my data works with the stock rom if my DMU is wiped?! That's what I don't understand. And like I said, it's consistent; I'm on the stock rom, data works. I flash a custom rom (obviously unlocking and flashing a new radio too), install the carrier cab, data doe not work. I flash back the stock rom, data works. How come?
edit: I re-read a good bunch of the threads speaking about letting the customization for another carrier run, and not once did I see the same problem that I have; that is, that data is working with the stock rom, but not with a custom one. Would it be particular to Telus? And don't tell me I'm not installing the carrier cab when I go custom.

I had the same problem as you man, except with verizon wireless. If you've followed all the steps (i.e flashed to stock, and then flashed the new radio without letting customizations run) then there's only one thing left to do which fixed my problem. Call up Telus and have someone remove your Data feature, and to put on Pay per KB/MB. It should THEN work, because the DMU is now reset. So after it's removed, give it a whirl to google.com or whatever. Hang up, and call back. Ask them to add the data plan again. Data should now work for you
Let me know if the problem persists!
I'll call Telus in the next few days and try to make my way to a DMU reset. I'll post the results once it's done.
FIXED, and WITHOUT getting my DMU reset. I simply installed that rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364157
with radio 3.27, and data worked. This was the first time since the Sprint customization that I could get data working on a non-stock rom. I then proceeded to install a newer radio and the latest dcd. Works like a charm
Told you guys a DMU reset didn't make sense since data was working with the stock rom!
So I bought a phone that was branded qwest. It is the Mogul Titan 6800 I'm not sure of the point for all the different names but it looks like the Sprint or Telus Phone (circle instead of square navigation button) Anyways I paid someone to flash it to cricket. It ended up having a Verizon splash screen and a radio version of 3.37. The person who flashed it said GPS would not work with this particular flash, and if I wanted it to work he would have to do it on his own time because the guy he worked for had a certain ROM they liked and he could not flash a GPS ROM on his boss's time.
So I flashed to Gamedics ROM and then flashed To) V3 ROM. CI could not get GPS to work with either. I then upgraded the radio to 3.42.50. Still GPS does not work. I added GPS toggle and quick GPS but they did not help either.
I read somewhere about the Verizon MR1 update and how GPS would not work with it. Is there anyway that the original flash that I got was this MR1 and for some reason it has stuch through my other flashes preventing GPS from working? Is there anything I can do to make GPS work on this phone? I also have something QPST if that helps.
Thanks in advance.
My thoughts, and it's only my thoughts, this was probably flashed to MR1, which disables GPS, when your cricket dealer flashed it, he didn't flash it back to an older Verizon stock rom first to undo the GPS lock, you might try flashing an older Verizon stock rom, let it run customizations, then take it back to the dealer and ask him to flash it again, let them do whatever rom they want, but when you get it back home and go back to GAMedics, or whoevers rom, GPS should work.
You might call the cricket guy first, make sure they won't charge you to flash it again, and if not, then do what I suggested.
Or at least ask the tech guy who did the flash for you and see if maybe their rom uses the same verizon locks.

I now have the capability to flash it myself. Could you direct me to an approbriate ROM to undo the lock? Then I can flash it back to my current ROM.
Thanks for the reply.
The only rom that I know of is the original stock Verizon rom, it's windows mobile 6.0, it will do carrier customization, which I believe it has to do in order to unlock the GPS.
Hopefully your Cricket rom restores the Cricket customizations.

Same problem here
Almost the exact same problem, but I have a Verizon branded refurbished (insurance) phone.
It had the latest Verizon ROM (6.1 - 3.37 radio) on it when I got it.
Am I able to put the Verizon 6.0 ROM on it?
I thought that would downgrade to a non-GPS radio , and that could brick the phone?
Here is my two cents... I Have xv6800 on VZW and Verizon users always had a hard time with GPS until GC figured out a GPS setting you had to apply with QPST. Its in the "HTC Titan Links/Information - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING ANYTHING" section sticky in this forum. Since then I use Baf GPS toggle today screen plugin to toggle GPS on or off. It always locks in 2 or 3 seconds. It looks like you said you are on cricket and I don't know if there are similar settings to apply with QPST. This all assumes you haven't flashed the MR1 Verizon upgrade, you are on a 3.something radio and are using a GPS enabled ROM (most if not all in this forum are). I never messed around with the MR1 upgrade so i don't know about it. Flashing back to the original verizon wm6.0 ROM in my case has involved re-locking the phone, and flashing the original ROM (which includes the original Verizon radio), then un-locking again, flashing the latest radio, then a wm6.1 ROM.
If you do some searching on this forum you can find answers to most of your questions.
Thanks. I have searched, but it was unclear whether I should downgrade to a non-GPS rom/radio (I've read that it's dangerous).
The guide I read here was actually pre-GPS rom release.
I went ahead and did downgrade, and then upgraded radio and installed a custom rom.
Now I get super fast locks.
Thanks again.
Upgraded Rom on Sprint Touch Pro No Signal
Any help would be appreciated after upgrading the ROM on my Touch Pro i no longer have any signal i then proceeded to flash back to the stock rom and still no signal i used the proper unlocker upgraded the ROM and Radio it worked the first time with the exception of the PCS data services i kept getting an error 66 I called Sprint Tech support and they had me do a ##786# now i have no signal
Anyone any ideas ?
Thank you
##786# is the "Return to Mfgr Default" settings. Basically, after you've done all this, you might want to check to see if the radio was installed correctly on the phone. Otherwise, I'd try and reflash back to a stock Sprint ROM. Also, check to see if the phone is programmed. If not, go to Start>Settings>Connections Tab>Update Profile. That'll initiate OMA programming over the sprint network.
I tried installing the another radio i cant initiate over the air updates as I have no signal whatsoever the phone operates fine otherwise do you think its a radio problem what would you recommend

need HELP !
You guys flashing in bootloader mode? Are you hard resetting after the flash? You of course have the correct hspl installed first? Is this the first rom flash you've tried or have you done others without incident? Have you tried the latest sprint radio 1.12xx. I found this to give me the best rf yet. Currently running psyki rom, but have tried all with no issues. Can you sync with your computer ok. If so do you have another rom you can reflash to? I always have a few saved for a reflash if the new flash goes south on me.
First , Id like to apologize if this is posted in the wrong area. I've done quite a bit of digging and am not able to find any real information on this subject. Basically I was inquiring if it is possible, links, and or steps to dumping/copying my PRL file as well as the stock shipped rom to my PC. I know you may be wondering why? Well, because my provider is TbayTel and I've gone through a situation where a "flash dance" was needed to fix my ROM issue's I was experiancing. Upon doing this I ended up flashing my PRL to the stock shipped Sprint rom one. Sure there are many prl files available, as well as the steps to manually updating them but my provider is one of the few that a PRL file is unavailable. Called up my provider service center, they will not provide me this as they have NO IDEA what im talking about. Once I explained the situation they obtained a basic idea of what I was talking about. Great thing is they manually program this into your phone as well as every other setting. So it required me bringing the phone in and having them look at it. So I attempted to reflash a stock rom and lock my phone. No stock Tbaytel rom (Custom edited Sprint rom). So i loaded a stock sprint rom, convinced them it was there fault for shipping me that, but was unable to lock my phone. I believe this is because they orignal settings could never match unless I reloaded my actual stock Tbaytel rom and ovbioulsy they wont hand this out willingly. So with my stock Sprint rom phone with no settings (Phone was stuck in activation process), and unlocked I proceded to the customer service building. Took alot of manipulation lol, but there fixing it and having it back to me by monday. So with this said and my problem (finally ) being resolved. I would like to do this to add that material as a resource to this community. Also feel free to comment on my escavade as well as tell me if i could have done something diffrent.
P.S: Thank you to all who have or are inputing into this. (Have for the people who aided in the past with those issue's stated above.) This is a great community and I hope I can provide these files to help improve something!
Use CDMA workshop to copy your PRL and save it. Flashing your phone shouldn't involve touching your PRL though.
You should run through your registry to obtain your data settings, and mms settings if any.
Thanks
Thank you for all your input/help. Only question left is , how do i dump my stock shipped rom? As for the PRL being updated, it happened when i flashed to the stock sprint rom and hard reset. Auto updated my PRL to 60613 i beleive it was.
You dont need your stock rom. You only need your data and mms settings. You can find these in a quick registry dump.
Thank you
Thank you for your prompt responses. If that is the case , then my final question to you is. After i complete a registry dump, am i able to apply the reg file to any other rom. In doing this will it mess with the custom rom? (like there must be pre-configured settings static to the registry of the rom of choice right)?
