I recently saw the leatherlike backplate of a Blackberry. To have also a leather like backplate would be a nice third party addon to the Diamond 2 which lacks a bit of quality on the original shiny black plastic one.
http://www.wmexperts.com/alternate-back-touch-diamond-2
anyone know where to get this yet?
looks awesome! can't wait to get rid of this piano-black-fingerprint-magnet backplate.
any1 know more about this? i'd really like to buy one asap!
Alternate Back Cover
You can take you phone to a Plastic Paint workshop and ask then to add a Dull coat of paint. there are different standard and scale that goes from 1 to 10. 5 is best because when painted above the logo text and the metal piece arround the camera lens hole it, it will not affect their apperance. I have done so with my Diamond2 from the first day I got it. And it look now exactly as shown here : http://www.wmexperts.com/alternate-back-touch-diamond-2

what are these plastic paint workshopers do actually? (so i would think of an eventual shop which does that)
Backplate
That's the easy part. Look at the yellow pages arround where you live. There should be lots of industrial companies that undertake prototype developpement or Just do paint job specialized in plastic for the industry.
You probably need to make few calls and one will lead you to another.....
wish you good luck. Mine cost me 20 dollars.

In Taiwan, cost 1350,TWD, about 40,USD
(If it was in balck leather would be great! Very elegant).
Anybody knows if they send it from Taiwan to Italy? It's very hard to understand!

I just check the post-office in Taiwan
that backplate is 1350.NTD
and the postage is about 550-650 NTD.
if it all cost 2000.NTD = about 60.USD = 45.ERU

I think is better to buy an invisible shield for our TD2 (for now) and wait for more accessories after-market that I hope they would be aivable at soon at possible since the device is quite new!

i'll see what comes next on the market, maybe if more alternatives will appear, prices will drop.
What I really would like is a backplate that is similar to the HTC S710 (and probably other phones aswell). That one is in a really nice rubber material, really liked that on my old S710.

i like the one on the Touch HD. it has a nice granulated/rubber-ish feeling, leaving no fingerprints. i hope something like that will appear soon, with a correct price...because i actually like the one on the Taiwanese site, but i think it's way too expesive.

nice looking!
Dammit. I wish I had one of those before I dropped my phone so many times

Do they afford any protection. I have been thinking about one of those Innopocket Metal case, but those cases look a lot nicer. Anybody have any saves with those cases???

If anyone has tried these, please review.
Thanks.
i bought the one listed above. it's okay, still is a bit bulky.. fitment is descent.. feels a little lose. i might just buy a new oem faceplate instead
you mean the rubberized one? does it fall off? does it provide protection?
the oem faceplate seems like just a replacement for the original housing?
what would be the point? to save the original for resale?

Please give a review I am considering this one too.
WOW...It will be very nice to be a bier for my dead herald.
Black, rubberized version, came same week, 10 bucks shipped, best case I ever seen snaps right on, skin close, thin, looks awsome, as if it was part of the design, NO TMOBILE LOGO!!!, no interfereance with opening the keyboard and a small difference with access to side buttons like camera, etc,. still comfortable, and in my opinion good for preventing accidental pressing...
Just too bad the invisible shield didn't come on time for my relative to bring it here... Then I would feel all around protected with the best there is.
Upgrade to Touch Flow 2.3 (Thanks to Itje!) bricked twice, stuck on Tmobile screen. Reason was expected since Vista is known to brick. The link to Modaco didn't have any possitive effect. Successful upgrade from my XP machine, first try.
The only issue now is that sometimes it is found to be turned off when I don't remember turning it off, usually when I take it out of my pocket.
And when I try to set up Windows Live Mail it just goes to home screen, which sucks since I want Live Mail on it. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I overclocked to 247 and Skype mobile works great. Just took a while to find the 2.2 Low CPU version... http://www.skype.com/download/skype/mobile/21beta.html It says needs 400 mhz, but worked fine without overclock...
Was surprised that Battery Status program was in the WIndows folder and no shortcuts... How are shortcuts made anyway?
In general very happy with the machine!
Any suggestions appreciated...

Avoid the metal cases. Had one for a few months for my Wing, signal strength is knocked down (with associated drop in battery life since the cell radio has to work harder, 25% reduction in battery life for me!), Bluetooth range drops to only about 5 feet before static creeps in, etc.
The protection is good with the metal cases, but you pay a high price in performance for the protection.
Black rubberized case in Tmobile holster?
Those of you who got the Black Rubberized Case, is the case thick enough to protect the protruding Green/Red call buttons from being pressed when they're in the OEM Tmobile holster? Pictures on ebay don't show the sideways view, so I can't tell how thick they are. thanks
After trying several cases/pouches including the official C300 leather case (too bulky) and a cheapo faux leather pouch that marked the white casing of the phone I have finally found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GENUINE-L...ches?hash=item3ca4b454a3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Its a pretty tight fit but you can yank the tab to pull the phone out.

Ouch, hope you can find something that you like!
I have been in search of a good case too, and I think I'm going to go with a foof pouch from Foof Shop. Another user of these forums got it and said it fits perfectly in an iPhone/iTouch size. Just a suggestion for you, if you like the style.
It's a shame my favorite company, Switcheasy, is staying Apple only
Waiting for beyzacases myself - their diamond one was superb.
I'm using a large Luna pouch by Krusell. Paid about £12 for it on a buy it now from ebay and would happily recommend.
It's a good quality soft leather case and while it wasn't purpose built for the hero, it is as you can see a pretty snug fit

I can lightly hold case upside and gently shake without the hero falling out, but at the same time I don't need to wrestle the case to remove the phone. Only downside was the quality control sticker left a sticky mark on the leather when I peeled it off (which washed away with a little liquid soap).
Wish I had a black Hero. The white one gets marked without trying.
I might get my girlfriend to make me one of these:

thanks; would you please confirm whether you got the Large or the Extra Large Luna, please?
MF recommends the Extra Large, for the Hero, but you mentioned only the Large.
Looking at the sizes there's only a few mm in it; I really don't want another pouch that the phone falls out of though
thanks again...
Foof is Ideal
I recommended the foof case, and the more I read with problems with other cases the more I'm glad I use this one. The interior is white fleece absolutely no chance of staining and great protection for the device. I've still heard all my notification sounds through the case and the black and white patterned cloth looks great. Its also washable.
thanks; I love the foof cases: I was going to get one for my MBP, but my wife made me something very similar herself, just as good (or better .
Which foof case exactly did you get for the Hero? How snug a fit is it?
thanks again.

Bought it from these guys:

thank you both.
I got a "Golla" case from the Carphone Warhouse, it's a nicely padded thing, never had one before only £9.99 - bargain
I got one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WHITE-Gel-Ru...Q5fMobilePhonesCasesPouchesQQsalenotsupported
It fits really well and is cheap as hell. It also makes it large enough (and increases the drag coefficient enough) so that it feels secure in my old G1 pouch.
Hi guys!
I know you guys been complaining about how hard to find the right case for your ‘Touch Pro 2’ right? Especially for the T-mobile Touch Pro 2 !!! lol~
I’m searching over and over to find the perfect case to suit my everyday needs. Finally I ran into this company website ‘SHINNORIE’, they used to focused on Iphone, Ipod, I…. etc. but now they’re expanding their product lines.
Luckily, they also included a FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE case for HTC! Made from grade ‘A’ GENUINE leather! A cow’s leather I supposed lol~ Yeah! A custom case finally! It’s crazy! You know. You can design the whole thing by yourself! The main color, the secondary color, the add-on designs to the case blah blah blah …. EVERYTHING! This one is a premium case with fashionable design not an old school black leather belt clip. This one got style!
BUT the case to fit TP2 pretty well would be the ‘RINGO’ ( You have to inform them a bit about the size tough, for me I’ve a Bodyguardz on my T-mobile TP2 so I need to noticed them about the size ) I’m already designed and ordered my case.
It should be here in about 11 working days I supposed because they said 8 days to custom made the case and 3 days for shipping. By the way, they offered worldwide shipping with a free FedEX Express post! I’m really looking forward to it. I will post a full review on it once I got it. I definitely recommend you guys to check out the case from SHINNORIE at www.shinnorie.com
Cheers!

Hey, I'm glad you like it.
I'm surely do post a full review once I got it
I'll be interested in whether or not the TP2 fits into the Ringo. It doesn't state the TP2 as a compatible phone... only "HTC Touch and similar sizes."
I read that as being the Touch HD (their other case is for the HD) which I think is possibly a lot thinner than the TP2. (correct me if I'm wrong)
I'm keen as to see a review once you get it though. My colours are sorted
Hi there
Are you in NZ? I'm in AU we are pretty near lol~
Yep, I noticed that but as I mentioned the case 'Ringo' is fully
customizable so you can just e-mail them your phone's dimensions.
For me I inform them as 118 x 63 x 20mm.
This dimension is for my T-mo TP2 with Bodyguardz on it.
I hope it will nicely fit, fingers crossed.
They told me that you can also inform them any special requirements.
(with additional cost, sure thing...)
(Their customer service is pretty fast though.)
Cheers
I made a t-mobile version, with magenta.

It looks nice, but man, I thought I was really spending when I got a custom made Easecase on Ebay for 39 dollars (shipping from Hong Kong was free), I guess not I think 40 dollars is my limit on cases. The Easecase's by the way are beautiful, build quality is top notch and the customer service is perfect.

My brown back cover is suffering from 1 or 2 scratches in 2 months of usage. I normally see Iphone users have hard plastic/silicon/decent looking cases to protect their device. HD2 also has a dedicated one.
Does Hero have something stock from HTC to protect it's covers?
What do you use for decent looking protective covers for the Hero? Pics may help greatly!

Same one here, 5$ including shipping - on eBay. Works great, using it 4 months (I think) and there are no signs of material going yellow, or chipping and cracking. Protects very good and isn't bulky!
Also, I see you have Eclair. There is green tint on camera

Ooops,.... Got it wrong,... Not SILICONE, they are the soft floppy ones aren't they,....
I meant GEL case,... Like the photos people have posted.
Mine also covers the volume - I do have 6 though so I can mess around with if I prefer it with or without! (All for £5 inc P+P - Bargain!).
Sorry about the poor quality of the pic - my elf’s camera is not so good!
I like that it provides a bit of a ridge around the screen - My daughter has a tendency to play with my phone and ends up throwing/dropping it on the floor, this helps avoid scratching (I also have a screen protector) It also doesn't add too much width around it, provides better grip, and doesn't muffle sound when on the phone.
Much better than the floppy silicon ones - they are useless, gel all the way!
You let your daughter play with your phone,.... I don't even let the missus touch mine!
if she breaks it, i'll get a new one on insurance - but I turst her, although she isn't even 18months! She does like to phone people on it, that is the only downside to these cases, they don't stop that (I should set a lock pattern...)

Aaah, thats cute,... Although I find it hard to believe that other tots have phones. Who does she call?
Back on topic,... 6 for a fiver,... Ebay??... Are they all different colours?
She phones my fianceé's phone, which is usuall sat underneath. (sorry for going off topic)
I would prefer her not to have my phone, but thats what makes the case a necessity of the case, she can get anywhere I leave it, this way, I don't get it broken, and she brings me it if someone phones me
Yup, I have white, blue, red, pink, purple and black. If i were a girl, I could accessorise to what I was wearing!
EDit: Just had a look at I can't find the link for £5 anymore The nearest I see for 6 is £7.29
Hi All,
Could someone link me to a one piece case that is made out of hard plastic?
I've searched over 1000 on ebay and couldnt find any!
I like the hard plastic 1 piece case since they are usually slim.
Thank you!
Sprint has one! I finally found one! its 28 dollars tho. Only comes in purple but has kick stand on it! it is made by Body Glove, I went to their site and they dont even have the Evo 3D listed =\

Bought one (pink) for the wife today. It was $24.99 at my local Sprint store, fit nice and tight. I like that you can prop it up either way in landscape mode, so charging while "kicked up" is possible.

Wow, how these places charge $28 bux for a piece of plastic is beyond me. I feel bad selling our TPU cases for $8.95! $28 and I'd feel like a con artist.

That one is nice but wait till you get to checkout. It was like $19 for shipping lol. They sell similar ones on ebay but solid colors.

Wow, how these places charge $28 bux for a piece of plastic is beyond me. I feel bad selling our TPU cases for $8.95! $28 and I'd feel like a con artist.

I ordered the green thru your site.
The site was dog slow, i was afraid paypal was gonna time out on me. I was starting to wonder if i tried to order right as someone started scheduled maintenance or something.
But it appears to have gone thru, so now it's time to wait and see.
my only concern is that if these (or any) cases trap heat. I sorta like having the exposed metal bezel that seems to behave as a heatsink. Either way I'm glad to have a device that isn't a slider so i have a lot to choose from.
I personally would love to find something similar to the iLuv snap-on cases for the ipad and ipod touch. they cover the back and corners and sit flush with the screen. But for $9 I can't go wrong.
Got my TPU case today. Wish i knew it was local, i could have probably picked one up same day.
but shipping was extra quick, and the was exactly what i was hoping it would be. Firm and flexible, not squishy like a silicon case. The fit is real tight and everything lines up real well. The top camera hole is ever so slightly off-center, but is barely noticeable and does not affect functionality at all. You would really have to stare at it to see it.
The case itself is glossy and not sticky, but still has plenty of grip. I could see it getting slippery with greasy fingers.
The firmness is reassuring that it won't pop off. It reminds me a lot of the iLuv case I had on my ipod touch before i switched to a snap-on back cover.
Overall I think the TPU case is a great value. I hope the company can remain profitable at this pricepoint, but given that most cases seem to start at $20, I think there's room to grow and still compete.
