When I try and send a text message using the numeric keypad (rather than the QWERTY keyboard) the input defaults to XT9.
I cannot for the life of me work out where the setting is to change the default to non XT9 input.
I note their is a cab file on here to remove XT9 all together but there must be a setting somewhere.
Any clues?
Only a setting in the registry....
You need the cab ...sorry..
Changed the registry to start up with the default keyboard maybe?
REG:HKCU\keyboard layout\preload\1::text:00000409
REG:HKCU\keyboard layout\preload::text:00000409
This disables the Windows applications that start up via keyboard shortcuts.
You don't need a cab to change this. See here.
guys, just a little problem:
I downloaded the latest version and, after enabling the keyboard settings menu - language and keyboard,
when I open a text message, and I try to change the input method, nothing shows, I have the ability to change keyboard
always appears the original, I tried to reboot to disable keybord smart, to re-enable it, but nothing,
When I click on "integration method" returns to the screen with the original keyboard, not smart .. Why?
something wrong? well, I looked around, and I have not found anyone with my problem ..
tips?
hello, I have resolved, I was wrong in practice once you've enabled the keyboard settings menu, open a new sms, and hold on "type text here" so you can choose the input method!
Ha just found this thanks my boss has a wildfire and didn't like the standard keyboard and me having a Galaxy S I thought oh thats easy lets get him a new one.
I had the same problem I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change the default keyboard glad you figured it out I was there for ages.
Maybe its just you and me
I want to have the SE input method when my keyboard is out, and I want the talkBack keyboard or any other keyboard when i have the keyboard in, is it possible to have that without changing it manually?
ThankYou
Hello everyone.
I've recently bought my dad the prime with a keyboard dock and I can't find a quick and easy way to change the input language of the keyboard when it's docked.
There is an option to change the device's language to our local one (Hebrew if that matters), but then it changes everything to Hebrew.
I just want the device's language to be English and have something like alt+shift to switch between the languages when it's docked.
However, so far it's either stuck on English (if the device's language is set to English), or alternates randomly between Hebrew and English (probably depends on the context of the text) with no real way to change it.
Is this a known issue? Is there a way to solve this?
Well, apparently ctrl+space does the trick when the keyboard is docked, at least for me.

Click to collapse
if you go to ASUS keyboard setting, and only check Hebrew keyboard (without English Keyboard), you can simply switch back and forth between English and Hebrew by pressing alt key which is right next to space bar.
when alt key is pressed, it shows which keyboard has activated via little dialog box on the center of the screen.
This is the control + shift hassle free of doing it.
Hi,
I tried to get Chinese handwriting keyboard on my new Nexus 9. Installed the Google Pinyin Input keyboard, installation went ok; but when go to setting -> Language & Input, I just dont see the new Google Pinyin Input keyboard option. Only has the default Google Keyboard.
on my old Nexus 10, I dont have this issue. Any idea what went wrong?
oops, got it sorted.
apparently i go to the setting and change my tab language to Chinese, then the new keyboard show up. And then i just switch back the tab language to English, Voila.
