+1 to that, all the above is correct, i agree too.
FASTEST ROM = EnergyRom

The fastest Rom I have used was the Energy 2.0.
Now I use the Energy 3.0 waht is really fast, but not that fast as the 2.0

I think the Banana is one of the fastest ROM's. While the Hippopotamus is very stable. Now put a pair of underpants on your head stick two pencils up your nose and say wibble.
Wibble!
Try ALL the roms and make your own judgement.

pretty much, I've used Scott's VZW TP ROM, which is really fast and Dream Phyre's DREAM ROM which is faster...yet when I seen that YouTube video of how freakin' fast ROMeOS2 was, that was pretty much the reason I bought the TP come to find out I would need an alternative to achieve that crazy speed that he has in his rom, hence me using Scott's and Dream's. Problem seems solved by ROMeOS. Am I just aiming at I brick wall, or is this correct?
Want something fast? Build something on your own or get a bare rom and add what you want on top of it. Try GC's rom, it's pretty bare and then just add one what you want.

Before you start flaming me, let me tell you in 2 words why im asking.
Dial Up
Yes, I have dial up and its not even 28.8 dial up either.. so i'm asking all of you who have tried some of these roms to help me pick which one to download.
I'm not really sure what i'm looking for, I have an AT&T Fuze, i did get 1 downloaded, it seemed ok and everything but seemed alittle slower then what im used to..maybe its just me as this is the first time i've ever tried to do anything like this.
I see alot of ones that say MANILA and NO MANILA, which is better?
Da_G's ultra clean, prob one of the smallest fastest ROMs. Mine would take forever to download!
BTW, No Manila means smaller
i just tryin each one out, and reading up on each. are you looking for stability? or a rom that has all the extra's
i just tried out:
[ROM][WWE]21815v2 |NEW!!!|Rhodium+Titanium|Opera9.7b1|The Cadillac of ROMs.by jmckeejr,
i like it alot, but the battery life wasnt where i wanted it to be. amazing rom though, wayy better than the stock one
im trying out this week:
|RAPH|6.5|ROM|WWE| ★ EnergyROM 3.0 'Phoenix' (21812) ★ || Build date 2009/6/12 || by NRGZ28
i will keep you posted.
also why not look at this site using the PDA version on it, and read ppls feed back on each. http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/f-440.html

Thaks for the input, both of you... I dont have a laptop..
Im looking for stablity with a mix of "extras and preformance" I've done some reading on some and i have no idea what some of the extra progams do LOL
im used to charging my phone every other day as it is...
they dont have a rom out there that installs the "basics" and has an app to where you can download//install only the extras you want do they?
ohh forgot to add, no Manila means smaller... smaller in download size.. or smaller in impact on preformance?

Smaller download size and slightly better performance since Titanium (the default WM6.5 Today Plugin) uses less resources than Manilla.
EnergyROM was good and stable for me, as well as RRE (although v6 seems to be a little slower than previous ones).
Da_G's clean ROMs are a good base, but you would have to download cab files for all the extras you want to install.

heres a question: do you have the data plan on your phone?
if you do, and you have already flashed your phone with a cooked rom, why dont you just teather it. Then you would have a connection that will kill any dialup connection, and allow you to download more, faster.

I do, but its only like 100mb a month. I only use it when there's bad weather/im lost.. LOL
RRE
I'm using an RRE 6.5 Rom. Pretty stable so far, i've been using it for about 2 months already. If you want a barebones rom, go for Da_G. if you want the simplest but has almost anything you need, go for RRE.
Goodluck!
Your phone has wifi go to a friends or somewhere and download to a memory card, if you don't have one you can get 1 or 2 gigabyte one dirt cheap. I know you can get RRE ROMs direct to phone. Be creative.
Thanks guys/gals for the help!!

This is a tough question to answer as each individual's mileage seems to vary. I am quite partial to NFSFANs ROM. It runs fast, stable and the battery drain seems to be the best of the ROMs I've tried.

psyki's and NRG's for me. Best 2 out there bar none.
Use Calkulins Kitchen to make your own ROM, or download any number of ROMs cooked with his kitchen.
I personally prefer MurdaROM v1.08. Very fast, stable, and includes nearly every basic program you could need.
Made for and tested on a Sprint TouchPro. Many very new packages from Topaz (Leo), but both Opera 9.5 and 9.7 -- includes Manila 2.1 and TellMe, plus other goodies.
Kitchen also available.
Best Rom?
I like the 2nd to last MightyROM that came out... I know that PPCKitchen.Org is going to put out an updated 3.5 set of ROMs soon if you can wait...
Just pick one...
Coke vs Pepsi, Ford vs Chevy....
Ask 10 people and probably get 10 different answers... well probably 3 or 4, maybe 5.
In the last 6 months I have:
Started with Juicy 7, then 8. Then went to Silence Final, tried Haze 1.7, back to Silence. Then when EnergyROM came out with his 23081, I gave that a shot. Very nice, but I'm just not ready for WM6.5.1, so went to Energy's 21846, which is where I am now... until something catches my eye. Scepter 3.4 was in there for a second, i think.....
Choosing a ROM is like getting in a relationship - you love every bit and pixel for the first week or so. Then your comfortable, have everything tweaked exactly how you want it...then one day you see a screenshot, and you prepare for the breakup.
I say pick the one that has the best looking theme, in you opinion, and flash it. Try it, don't like it at all, flash another. ROMS are fling, not a marriage.

I was the exact same way when I started flashing.. man oh man, I've tried every CDMA ROM there was, and then every time each one updated I'd rotate through them all again.
Each time I got to NFSFAN's ROMs I'd pause for a bit.. then the next time I'd pause for a bit longer.. then the next time longer still.. eventually the other ROMs started dropping away and I'd rotate between 3 or 4 as they each updated, pausing longer still on NFSFAN's.. now, I gotta say.. I'm married!!! I don't even look at other cooks threads, I just check NFSFAN's to see if there's any updates. But in my opinion, it doesn't even NEED anymore updates, everything runs flawlessly on this thing.
The only problem I've had at all, is that I tried installing nuedynamicclock, and that program didn't work on this rom, it didn't show the MHz, or the profile.. so I uninstalled it.. after that, I couldn't answer incoming calls. So, not really NFSFAN's fault. quick hard reset and I'm good to go.

Definitely agree with you there. The only other ROM that has grabbed my attention is NRGZ28's Manila 2.5 build. Not as fast as NSFFFAN's 2.1, but his is the best 2.5 out there so far. There still needs to be a lot of work done for any ROM carrying 2.5, but it is exciting to see the progress that is being made. For now I am wholeheartedly sticking with NSFFAN's ROM. I hope he is planning on a 2.5 at some point.
NFSFAN FTW!
ive only tried a few, but I found this ROM has the best feel and stability.
I like the NRG Herman ROM :EnergyROM_21864_HERMAN_22.Oct.2009_Standard.rar
I've tried about all the roms out there... MightyMike.com has the best i've found so far. Its stable. It has all the eye-candy and features (like Juicy8) and its solid! I have not had to hard reset since first installing this rom and have been on it for three months now with no issues. Mighty Rules!
Darkroot Ls is a good one runs stable and fast
you can get it from ppcgeeks.com
Another vote for NSFAN here.
Energy always has a feature packed rom but stability is often the question with them. In his defense you can't really make as many changes and updates as he does and not have some stability issues especially since he usually includes the cutting edge packages as they get released.
I am currently trying out Twisted Access' rom. It's a 6.1 variety with Sense 2.5 and the sense 2.5 is the main reason I am trying it as I need to have quick access to the call history from the home screen and I like the extra program shortcuts it provides but wvwn that rom has a few issues with Sense crashing and the people page and favorites not working properly. But other than that is is pretty stable with a good set of default programs included.
But a Kitchen is the only way to make a PERFECT rom for yourself. There you can include what you want and get rid of the rest keeping the rom Slim and fast.
Does everybody got that problem on HTC Hero GSM or just only me?
After WIPE EVERYTHING, repartitions, and everything what is needed to install rom, roms like Rose v5, Salsa Sense v4, SFM and every else with GB 2.3.x are so slow and got lot of fcs (usually Rosie FC).
And always I need back to Roms with 2.1 Sense, because their working great (VillainROM 12, Heroine ++ and more).
Any ideas what I need to make newest roms working good?
maybe try flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526920 its the Open GL 2.0 hack/mod. it may be worth a try but honestly i dont know how much of an improvement it will make. i've seen people say it makes sense 3.5 roms a bit quicker so it hopefully should do the same on the sense 2.1/3.0 roms.
also i've heard it can cause bootloops on some roms so just remember to back up your current rom first
EDIT: or if you want you could wait a little longer. Bharat said he was going to release Rose V6 sometime soon
Yes, I know that.
But it's annoying me if I see posts like: "It's very fast, thanks!", "Fastest GB Rom ever" etc when I see on my hero It isn't true.
Normal GB roms are really fast (like Cronos), but these Sense Rom isn't.
And I was try this OpenGL hack and no improvement, but thanks anyway.
I'm just curious if I have this problem or everybody.
And sorry for my english.

No its not just you. Sense just slows down gingerbread roms e.g. on rose v5 I found the speed bearable but then I tried heroine ++ and also cronos which you mentioned and the speed was amazing and then when I switched back to rose I could clearly see a difference speed wise and found it frustrating that I'd pull down the notifications bar and it wouldn't pull down straight a way
So yeah I think everybody would agree that there's still a bit of work to do on these gingerbread sense roms
I think the only thing to do is wait : (
Sent from my Hero using Tapatalk
Ok, thanks. Now I'm satisfied, because I know that is normal problem, not only mine.
I don't think waiting will help you either, If you want fast GB with Sense you probably have to buy a new phone :/

Gents can you please recommend a ICS rom that has about 200 MB + of Ram memory available for user?
I heard that Polish blood meets my requirements but apparentlly there are some issues with it - problems with wifi, face recognition doesn't work etc.
I would love to try a few roms for myself but I don't have a phone yet, I will be buying it tomorrow morning and a few hours later I'm going for holiday, without access to a computer for the next week. So I would like to quickly pick up an ICS rom, personalize it to my liking to go on holiday with a fully working phone.
Would appreciate any help.
