Recieve calls faster? - Touch Pro CDMA

I saw a tweak or something the other day that said to make the phone answer calls faster. Is there such a thing? I did a test call and it seemed to take about 4 to 5 seconds before my phone rang. Not sure if there is such a thing, but was just curious.

search for diamond tweak works well for me

in qpst change slot cycle index from 2 to 1

noob question. What is QPST?
Thanks Rob

QPST is the Qualcomm Product Support Tool. It's an application developed by Qualcomm for cellular phones that feature Qualcomm chipsets. It features a file explorer, factory test tools, low level communication settings, RF calibration tools, roaming list editor, service programming tool, and more.

The only issue I have with QPST is that it asks me to select a phone model, and none of them seems right....

just type in your dialer ##778 Code and enter your MSL code.. once in the programming go to Modem and slot cycle index..
##778 Send or maybe ##778# depending on which carrier your with.

I got to the slot cycle thing with ##778#, but it would allow me to change it from 2

you must have been in view mode.. you have to click on edit and enter your msl

how do i find my unlock code? also, can you explain exactly what slot cycle index changing to 1 does? i want to understand what's happening before i do it.

Here is a copy/paste from the PPCGeeks forum. Hope this helps.
"You can tweak your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) to make your phone poll the tower more often. This makes your texts and phone calls come through quicker. This setting is a trade off between lag (most noticeable when receiving calls) and battery life. The default value on our phones is 2. Every step of 1 adds 1.28 seconds to the poll time, so at a value of 2 it is only polling every 5 seconds or so. Most people lower this to 1, so the phone polls every 2.5 seconds. This won't affect battery life much in areas of good coverage, but may impact it noticeably if you're in a poor reception area. Your Access Overload Class (ACCOLC) determines your phone's priority on the cell tower. The higher the number, the lower the priority. Do note that 0 and 1 are reserved for emergency service uses, so DO NOT use these. You can ACCOLC's of 2-9, default on Sprint should be the last digit of your phone number."

ok, but what's my unlock code to change that?

Another option:
The HTC Dialer Skin on the is pretty.... slow to load, at least that's the consensus. Skywing gave us the following registry tweak:
In:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin
Set ext to \windows\PhoneCanvas.dll
Rename the DIALER/PROGRESS folders, possibly: oldDIALER/oldPROGRESS
This will give you the default WM Dialer Skin, which appears to load faster.
With this, you will lose your bluetooth icon from the taskbar, however everything functions properly. I believe you also lose the ability to adjust in-call volume..

htc dialer good, wm dialer bad lol
ok i got my MSL. thanks for the tweaks guys. they work great!
one question though. you say not to use 1 for ACCLOC (or whatever the f*@#ing acronym is lol) my buddies phone is set to 1. does that mean i can use 1 or should i leave it at 2?

My Access Overload Class is already on 0 on my new stock uncustomized yet 6850. Wiki seems to indicate that the system is only in use in Britain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACCOLC YMMV since I really know nothing about it.

VoIP help - idiots guide please!

Hi guys - I've searched like mad and still cant find the answer so I thought I'd ask here!
I have installed Helmis VoIP.cab and the 'unavailable' has now changed to 'Service Blocked' so I think my VoIP is now operational... however... how on earth do I set it up?
I know I sound like a total dunce but it just doesn't make any sense to me at all after reading a million threads (well feels like it anyway!) i am no nearer understanding! It really doesn't gel in my brain for some reason! I guess my router is blocking something, or maybe I simply haven't set something up? I am totally lost.
Thanks so much in advance guys - you all rock (pre-groveling so I don't get moaned at for asking a silly question!)
You need to use a program called Sip config tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303493
that will allow you to set your sip account details (server, port, user name, password).
It also allows you to activate the SIP over 3G connections, works OK on Orange UK.
It works for me but volume is low and the indicator on the home page shows "searching" although the SIP was selected.
Excellent - used that program and woohoo - I joined VoIP Buster and apart from the fact i have no credit so the free calls wont go through it worked fine!
Thanks man!
lucky you. It didn't work for me here in Australia. I believe we have a different dial plan. I can't find any facility to change that with the SIP config.
Any Australian user that manage to get this internet calling working?
I also wonder what sorts of codecs are already provided. I don't see any facility to choose the preferred codec in the tool either.

Great I am glad it worked for you! Can you please confirm three things:
1. what VoIP actication cab did you use, I used an old Universal one which is probably not the latest or greatest.
2. can you confirm the today element works OK (ie it says "Available" and when you click on it it changes to "Selected". This is not working on my Athena although it does work on my Universal. On the Athena the selection functionality works but it just says "Searching" all the time.
3. how is your volume level? mine is very low and there is a bit of a lag even when using a WiFi connection.
Thanks in advance for your comments!

Hi eaglesteve
I managed to get VOIP working on the WM6Tmoboo1 and the AP3 rom through mynetfone.
It is a little flaky but it can work.
I am not in a 3g area but can definitely say it works over a wireless connection but I did accidentally call over a umts connection in sydney yesterday

Hi Lakeman,
Thank you for responding to my post. After seeing your success, I decided to give it another try. Previously, I dialed nnnnnnnn, 02nnnnnnnn, +612nnnnnnnn and had no success. This time,I dialed 612nnnnnnnn, and my home phone rang! I have not got my wife to pick it up as it of 1am in the morning now. Tomorrow i'll test the sound quality. I'm using pennytel. In the past I've been using sjphone client. The sound quality is okay provided I use headset. Did you try talking with the headset? It eliminates echo on the other end. Without headset, the other guy's voice from the speaker goes back to the microphone and he can hear his voice played back to him .
Thank you once again for giving me the assurance that it can work in Australia.
Edit: I'm having problems. When I called my home number, my wife picking up the call could hear me, but I could not hear a thing. Also, using the same method of calling other number does not seem to work. I'm also unable to call mobile numbers.
With Pennytel as my SIP provider, when using Sjphone, I dialed 02nnnnnnnn for landline and 04xxxxxxxx for mobile, +61 1300xxxxx for special numbers.
With the built-in VOIP, the above dialing method seems to work differently. I thought that dialing 612nnnnnnnn for landline would work as the phone actually rang, but it does not really work fully. Dialing 04xxxxxxxx basically kick the phone application out. If I dial 0011612xxxxxxxx and 0011614xxxxxxxx, my phone shows that it is connected, but I can't hear a thing from the other side. I don't know if the other side could hear me.
Anyone using Pennytel in Australia who manage to get it working? I think I would try to work with Pennytel to sort this out.
Edit: Pennytel's help desk know next to nothing about this. Amazing how they could run a VOIP company.
Anyway, looks like WM6 only supports g711 and gsm codec. My VOIP provider uses G723 and 729 and gsm. I'd have to find ways to switch the codec to gsm to see if it works. Found this post which outlines the registry edit in order to add gsm codec and to switch between g711 and gsm for those of you interested:
QUOTE Sleuth255
Make these Registry changes / additions
hklm\comm\rtc\codec
UsePreferredCodec DWORD=1
PreferredAudioCodec DWORD = 0 or 3 (3 = gsm, 0 = g711)
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\PayloadType DWORD = 3
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\FrameDuration DWORD = 20
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\CodecRank DWORD = 1
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\UseHealer DWORD = 1
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\Driver String = gsm610.acm
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\WaveFormat\FormatTag DWORD = 49
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\WaveFormat\Channels DWORD = 1
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\WaveFormat\SamplesPerSec DWORD = 8000
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\WaveFormat\AvgBytesPerSec DWORD = 1625
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\WaveFormat\BlockAlign DWORD = 65
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\WaveFormat\BitsPerSample DWORD = 0
hklm\Comm\RTC\ACM\GSM\WaveFormat\bSize DWORD = 2
credit to stevehead for these
Once after adding all above settings, only changing the following setting will be enough to change between GSM and g711 :
hklm\comm\rtc\codec\
PreferredAudioCodec DWORD = 0 or 3 (3 = gsm, 0 = g711)

As for dial plan, Shaun33, the author of SIP Config tool, promise this will be in the next version. This should save me the headache of having to put in all the prefix in front of my phone numbers.
Hi eaglesteve
I dialed my voip number to check ie 02401nnnnn
I also dialled my mobile phone number for fun but of course the feedback was terrible.
only trouble was dialling again shortly afterward was diverted to my voip voicemail but that is a problem with the voip provider
I have also used sjphone with no problems or lag from japan to aus (with my jamin and old hp6365)
cheers

Hi lakeman,
No success for me. Sip Conf Tool, I can't hear the person although he can hear me. Also, the echo is too loud for the other person, although his voice has not gone out of my speaker phone and fed back into the microphone.
I made the registryedit in my precious post, but in the process, lost the ability for the other party to hear me as well.
I then changed my voip config tool to this one. The tool's interface is better, and it has a dial plan editing page. But I still can't hear each other, although the phone rang and is shown to be connected.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070
Now I've reverted back to Sjphone, which gives much better voice for the other side, and I can hear the other party very clearly. Sjphone has more codecs than wm6 so naturally gives better voice quality. It also has the ability to define the voice letter below which the microphone will not transmit (good in cutting off background noise and reduced echo) with its audio wizard. These facilities are yet to appear on both the two voip config tools that are available on xda forum.
The only drawback of sjphone is its wm2003 outdated interface, not it works much better than wm6 voip client.
steve There is a WM5 version of SJphone that looks better but I can't remember where I found it.
If I do I will try and upload it or link it.

Thanks lakeman for this. Appreciate your help and time very much.
After installing it, I notice the interface and screen looks exactly the same as the older version. No new skin for wm5. There is still a gap below when using it in 128dpi. Is this what you have too?
Regards.
steve I had this installed on a tmobilewm6 without realvga so I can't answer you
I haven't had time to play with this on my wifes Ameo with AP3
When I got my jamin over 18 mths ago i never tried to install the WM2003 sjphone so can't comment on how it differed

Delay in ringing when receiving calls?

I have a Eris on VZW, and I want to see if anyone here experiencing a delayed ring? I.E. when someone calls you it takes 3 maybe even 4 rings before your phone rings? My last phone, WM i760 took 1&1/2 to 2 before the cell rang, and both are using the same ringtone. Is this normal? Is there any way I can decrease the amount of delay(on my i760 there was a phone code I could dial to get into a special phone mode to adjust the delay)? Thanks.
What can we do?
I tried some of the default ringtones and the same thing occurred.
not sure whether this is always the case, but i just tried it and there was like zero delay. instant ringing.
delay 3-4 rining.
but the LED delays "only" 2 rining.
AND(!!): wenn i am listening music with the headset, musik stop playing long before (3-4sec before) the phone starts to ring or the LED starts to blink
Normal tones (htc's tones) shouldn't have a delay. Mp3 or custom tones do lag.
This issue has been asked before, no way te resolve it I think but not sure.
You should try the search
Yeah I had a custom tone on my last phone and there was a phone setting i had to get into by dialing a number to fix improve it.
anyone try what was suggested it here. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=99307
Edit: I just notice that what is suggested in that link is the same thing I did for my previous phone and that worked well. I had it at 1 on my last phone and I have it on 1 on my Eris now. I just tested it, and my phone now rings about a quarter second after the second ring. It much better now. I was told with this settings change on this phone and with my previous phone battery life does go down a slight bit, but I never noticed it on my last phone. I hope its the same case here. Then again I do have plans to get a larger battery, which would kind of make the point moot.

It says on that forum by pjsockett linked to above:
##PST Send
Edit Mode
Enter 000000 Press OK
Modem Settings
Slot Cycle Index
Change Value (Lower values ring faster)
OK
Menu
Commit Modifications
Press OK to reset the device. OK
After that your device should reboot and you should be good!
Beware, Reducing the slot cycle can reduce battery life which could be an issue on the Eris.

Txt messaging after flashing

OK I just flashed ComRom 2.0 and i started noticing that My txt were not sending. So I did the *228 option 2 then they all send . Is this normal after flashing a new rom?
Anyone Know why this might happen?
I have no idea but I've had the same problem and found no causes... the only thing that fixes it for me is a reboot or a rewipe/reflash, problem with my fascinate is the txting stops working every week or so.. haven't found any perm. fixes or reasons why it does that
tapatalked from my Kangbanged Fascinate
bsannes: Yes, that's normal, and it's always a good idea to do that after flashing a ROM. *228 option 2 (or *22891 to skip the prompt) updates your Preferred Roaming List, or PRL, which essentially tells your phone which towers it should connect to.
It's an even better idea to do *228 option 1 instead (or *22890 to skip the prompt) -- that programs the MDN, MIN and Home SIN as well as updating the PRL. You don't need to do option 2 if you do option 1, mind you, as it covers both.
Note that you won't always (or even most of the time) necessarily have problems if you don't perform the above after a ROM flash, but I can tell you from personal experience that if you dont/forget to there is a definite chance you'll have missing or disappearing texts or calls.
Anoninja: What you described is decidedly not normal -- if it were a programming issue I think texting should either work or not -- though I'd still suggest doing a *22890 and seeing if it fixes your problem.

[Q] Lumia 920 wish list

I recently switched from a (jailbroken) iPhone 4s to a Lumia 920, and am very happy with that decision. My complete computing environment is based on Windows 8, and the phone fits into that environment without any effort.
Still, there are a few features that I miss in the Lumia 920 which I loved in previous phones:
- the phone does not have an option for automatic time sync, although the network (German O2) provides for that feature
- you can change ring tones, but not sounds for notifications and sms
- there is no way to activate visual voice mail, although I used to have this feature on the iPhone, using the same sim card and contract
- some kind of notification center
- there is no way to use the flash as indicator for incoming messages and calls
- there is no app like "my mobiler" in windows mobile or "veency" in ios
- although text selection and editing is much better than on the iPhone, I loved he little app called "SwipeSelection" from Cydia that moved the cursor when you were swiping with our finger over the keyboard
If anyone has a workaround (other than switching back to a jailbroken iPhone) for any of the things listed, I'd be grateful for a hint.
Thanks
The phone data is attached as screenshot
About the text selection, you can press and hold on the text and a cursor will show. Well Im not sure if this is what you're talking about but this is helpful in editing texts

Thanks, but: No, this is not what I mean. Here is a video which explains swipe selection best:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h2yrBK7MAY
Carrier time is best because it gives you the current time even if you move across time zones. World clocks are available if you travel a lot and want to see multiple times for different locations.
Visual voicemail is something your carrier needs to turn on for your device, wp8 supports it. For instance in America ATT supports visual voicemail. You could try calling and asking them to support visual voicemail for your model.
In wp8 you can't do anything to change how the default keyboard works so adding the swipe app is impossible right now. Also everyone is hoping that they allow custom SMS tones soon.
Arrows in the chat pad/ keyboard!! led indication for missed calls or any event whatsoever, swipe/select text, longer battery life! besides that i am really happy with the phone.

I don't get all these longer battery life statements. This phone has longer battery life than any phone I have ever owned. I charge over night and it will last me minimum 12 hours. I have never had a phone that lasted that long. Best was 8 and average was 5. If you Lumia is not lasting more than 12 hours then i would suggest a battery drainer and then a full recharge. If it still does not last then you got one of the faulty batteries and I would suggest replacing the phone, or if you are tech savvy open it and replace the battery with one off ebay.:good:

Auto-complete in phone dialer not using default number first??

When I open the phone dialer and start dialing someone's name it will give me the normal suggestions below the phone number but at least like 50% of the time it will show the person's non-mobile number. So I'll start dialing Steve or whatever and it'll suggest Steve Lastname Home with the dropdown that shows:
Search Results
<********************>
Steve Lastname
Home 123-456-7890
<********************>
Steve Lastname
Mobile 321-456-7890
<********************>
For the life of me I can't get the Mobile to be the first suggestion. On previous phones I just set whichever number I wanted to suggest first as default but it's like this phone doesn't check which one is default. And I can't determine any rhyme or reason as to the order it chooses. It sometimes put work first, sometimes even work fax. I think it's consistent for each person (ie whichever it puts first, it always puts first for that person) but honestly I've been so frustrated by it that I might have even missed that changing. I had a problem like this on the Samsung S5 a while back when I first got it, but then it stopped happening.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
