Is it just me or is anyone experiencing a "Forbidden" error when sending/receiving MMS after updating to AT&T's new ROM with 1.14.25.35 Radio?
I've reflashed the updated AT&T ROM and then flashed NRG's latest 6.5 ROM with the correct Rilphone.dll and still have the Error. I even tried sending from the new stock ROM and got the error. I did this multiple times to make sure it wasn't a bad flash and still have the "Forbidden" error. Did I do something wrong when I flashed the new ROM and Radio? The settings in MMS are correct and I didn't load anything else prior to testing MMS.
At first I thought it was AT&T and wasted over 30 minutes with a rep that knew next to nothing. Then it dawned on me that this all started after I updated to the new ROM/Radio release for AT&T on HTC's website. So, I reverted back to the original shipped ROM with 1.02.25.32 Radio, flashed NRG's latest 6.5 ROM and can now send/receive MMS.
I had the same forbidden error and had to talk to tech support from att.. apparently it's because i had placed my sim into an iphone and we all know iphones can't send mms so it registered into their system that i was using an iphone thereby causing the iphones imei to register to my number hence why it's forbidden to send/receive a mms. did you perhaps do something similar?
ATT0001 file can't open it
Hey Guys... sorry than I can't help to solve your problem.. But i have a problem too with the MMS... what happens is that every time I send or receive a mms to a windows mobile phone comes as ATT0001 file and I can not open .. I need help with this thanks
Loner2DEnd: I did but only to unlock one. I've done this before and have never had that problem up. I only noticed that I wasn't able to send/receive MMS after I had the official update from HTC for the FUZE. I was on the phone with the tech and they told me that using my SIM in an iPhone wouldn't have updated my account. You can log onto your online account with AT&T and see what phone/IMEI is registered with your account. Mine still has my FUZE and correct IMEI. Everything is working now that I reflashed the original shipped ROM with the 1.02.25.32 Radio.
I downloaded another copy of the ROM update from HTC for the FUZE and ran the same tests to see if maybe it was a corrupted file/bad flash and I still had the same issues with MMS. My internet still worked but I got the same Forbidden Error. For now, I'm going to just stay with my current (original shipped) Radio since everything's working.
Dannyedilber: I'm not familiar with that Error. Sorry man. I don't know much about MMS and had to do some homework and some trial and error to finally find this solution. Maybe one of the seniors can answer your question.
I've had this problem a few times but usually fixes itself after a reset or a quick disconnect/reconnect of the radio.
I find that if I leave my data on for an extended period of time, it seems to happen. Almost like AT&T is seeing the high traffic and cutting me off.
Also check to make sure you guys don't have Data disabled in your accounts.
@Dannyedilber: I don't even know what an "ATT0001" file is?
@Loner2DEnd: My wife just returned her iPhone because she said it sucks compared to Windows Mobile (smart girl eh?) and went back to her old Samsung Blackjack. We did this yesterday, after her having the iPhone for a little under 30 days. I just sent her a picture and she got it.
From AT&T
The data network works for all of our devices and the Windows Mobile devices are the only ones that seem to have had some issues with the way the data network is configured. Rather than trying to re-configure and potentially break the network for other users, we have been working on a fix for the Windows Mobile issue. We have a fix that will be implemented by the end of this quarter and we should have the problem resolved at that time.

From AT&T
Just wanted to let you know that I did get an update. The project to "fix" the 403 error is moving forward. Right now we plan to have the implementation complete in June with Project closure in Early July. I will follow up again in about a month to see the status and provide closure information.
Just for clarification: This project hasn't slipped a month, we keep the project open during a "soak" period to ensure that everything is going as expected. Also, as we apply the fix to the elements in the network the fix will be applied to certain markets and complaints should drop for that market dramatically. I haven't seen this issue in a while here so I believe that the patch has been applied for the Minneapolis market.

An easy temporary fix is to put your phone into flight mode and then take it out. A new data connection almost always works. Worst case scenario soft reset the phone.
so its by market then?
I flashed the new rom about last week, had no issues receiving and sending MMS on it and on NATF's 4.7 rom.
Still No MMS

My MMS is not working incoming or outgoing. I have tried it from TF3D2, Titanium, after reset, after airplane mode and reset with no success. I put my SIM card in my backup phone and MMS send and receive worked flawlessly. I do not get the forbidden error message some of you have gotten; it just does not work. I have reset the RegEdit keys several times and they are currently set at 1.2mb. I know that 6oo K is at&t max, but the two test MMS messages are 77K and 317k. Thanks - David.

It sounds like you have a different issue altogether. My posts were answers from AT&T strictly for the 403 forbidden issue.
Player911 sorry that I was not very specific...whats happening is when I send a ATT MMS to someone who have a HTC touch pro to her hotmail account.. she can't open it because the picture come as ATT0001.. even when I send att MMS to myself at my email account I receive as a ATT0001
Need help with this guys.. please
Sorry my english
Hi All:
First off thank you for the info in resolving this issue. Since swithing back to the original shipped ROM with radio 1.02.25.32 then flashing EnergyROM 3.0 Phoenix 6/12, I've had no problems with MMS Forbidden Error. It's been a week now and I've had no data/network issues either. I'll try again with the new Radio/ROM this weekend when I have some free time and will report back. Thanks everyone!
Tru using a registry editor and go in and change the registry in Arcsoft under HKLM>Software>Arcsoft>Arcsoft MMS UA>Config>MM1>MMSCSetting>SampleMMSC>Wap1SendDefault and Wap2SendDefault and change to a desired number. For instance, I have 102400 set to send up to 1MB.
See if that allows you to send.
try enabling ATT's proxy. This always works for me.
1. Enable the proxy
2. Kill the data connection
3. Reconnect data
4. Try sending or receiving.
This has worked countless times for me.

I am having one issue with my phone. It was a Sprint Touch Pro that has been fully flashed over to CricKet and everything seems to work just fine with one exception....when I get an mms it gives me an error saying "we are unable to download your message. It will remain in your inbox." Then the only way I can see it is if I click on the message, then click download.
UPDATE:
I just managed to figure something out. I get that error if I don't have a data connection established when I receive the mms, but if there is a data connection established the mms works like it should without a problem.
Anyone with any ideas?

It might sound like a silly question, but doesn't MMS use data connection in WAP? Maybe the system is trying to act too fast (faster than what your phone can establish a WAP connection). In other words, it might be set to time-out if the connection is not detected within an x amount of time. Try to see if your MMS program allows you to increase that "time-out". Good luck!

Yes, MMS does use WAP. I am using Arcsoft 5.0.27.25 for my messaging. I have talked with other CricKet users and they say the settings work for them right after the flash. I have even went as far as to compare the EPST settings from my mogul (which works perfectly) to my touch pro and everything checks out. This really has me baffled.
The maker of the rom I am using sent me some directions on flashing this rom and I followed them step for step and still have this issue. Does ANYONE have any ideas on this? Anything would be appreciated.
Thanks
Still no progress other than what I have already posted. This isn't making any sense to me at all. I LOVE this phone but this problem has me about to the point of using it as target practice.
I can't believe that nobody else has run into this or has any ideas on how to fix this.

Okay... not sure how much help this is gonna be, but...
I have a TP flashed to MetroPCS running MR 4.16 and Sprint Arcsoft 5.0.70.24... MMS is a real issue with MPCS and I think Cricket users have less probs, but what you've described is similar to my experience... before I flashed a new rom and changed my arcsoft version, it was exactly as you described, btw...
Maybe you need a dif version of Arcsoft. Now, when I get an mms, it'll show up initially as an empty message, when I click on it it will say I need to download, yadda yadda... but if I wait patiently, a few minutes usually, it will complete the process all by itself. I don't think it matters if it's verizon's or sprint's, but I had an older version of Verizon's Arcsoft first (that was awful) and now I have Sprint's... it works flawlessly, just a little slow sometimes.
That's my suggestion, though I know little about Cricket except what I've read in the Metro forums... good luck!

I will give that a shot after I get home from work in the morning. I hope it works as I am not sure what else the issue could be.
ok well as the topic says lets try to put a stop or atleast minimize the MMS Forbidden error alot of ppl been experiencing, including myself.
It seems like the MMS Forbidden error is more radio related than the actual internet settings or registery tweaks.
My reason for saying this is that my previous phone before i got it exchanged earlier this week had Radio **1.12.25.19** i also had Premier Series Rom installed by xECK29x and my MMS was not working no matter what tweaks or cab i install, both incoming and outgoing MMS was broken.
but as i got my new phone from att i installed back over my Rom and kept the stock Radio which is **1.02.25.32** which seems like to be the latest radio by AT&T and my MMS worked great even with the latest Premier Series Rom 3.1.
Only thing that seems to be a bit of a problem is my GPS is not as strong as my previous phone which apperently 1.12.25.19 Radio had Fix.
I have read and been keeping track where other ppl have flashed new radio and have had problem with MMS and flashed back to stock ATT and have MMS restored, is there something within the ATT radios that we are overlooking, is there a way to incorperate the new radios with the old ATT ones and keep both MMS and Fast Lock AGPS??

I was having the same problem with mms, forbidden error, and I called AT&T who told me that I had a weak signal on my line and they needed to resend the signal. After the signal was resent my mms worked without any problems and my GPS locks is much faster.
So, this morning was the first day of school for my kids. Of course I snap several photos then go to txt the pictures to the grandparents. And the phone goes to send..... and then just sits there.... for ages. Then eventually errors out. Odd, but you know, at&t is kind of crap so I figure I'll try it when I get to work. A few mins later I receive a picture msg from my sister and I cannot open that either.
Anyway, it looks like I cannot send or receive multimedia messages now. After chatting with the at&t support person for what seemed like hours, he says the problem is likely with my phone and i need to do a warranty replacement.
I am thinking that's a ROM bug/issue, right? Would doing a master reset possibly fix this? Has anyone else had this problem? (I'm running the at&t official GB ROM, I did not do the OTA update though. I did the full pudding/root pre-install load.
Mmm, I don't how it is named in English, but you should have something called "data management" in the setting.
In there there a 2 menus : in the first "data stream control" (or something like that, again I have a French rom) you should deactivate it or MMS can not been sent/received.
At least that was the case for me. This also prevent from doanloading app with only 3g, you must have wifi.
This is quite annoying because I can't control the data AND send MMS but wel... maybe there is another workaround.
Edit : I'm in 2.2.2, I don't know if that will be the same in 2.3.4.
You need to have the correct APN settings. Check in your Mobile Network options.
Who is your service provider?
Hot damn rush! I had changed my APN to a custom one a while ago (just apn defined as 'phone' nothing else set.) I changed it back to the default HSDPA and la-da!
I wonder why that custom APN stopped working?
THANK YOU!
Glad you have it working now, enjoy.
I am in the US and have a international galaxy s2 on AT&T...My phone is fully rooted, and I am currently running Batista70 FOXHOUD EDITION 2.1 but i cant seem to get my mms on a consistant basis....I have tried several roms so I am pretty sure it isnt that, I can send mms and have a great 3g signal but most of the time I cant recieve my mms...I can browse the internet and download from the market just fine but there again I cant seem to get the mms to recieve...It seems like on a fresh rom install i get the mms fine but then after a day or so I go back to not being able to recieve one at all...I have tried different apn settings and have made sure I am on the right AT&T data plan (HSDPPB) as mentioned in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109983) and I still cant get anything consistant on RECIEVING! It has really been agravating and I would love to figure out what I can do to get this working right, I dont know if it is the modem software??? Is it my apn settings??? I have tried different things and still nothing so any help would greatly be apprecitated and I have noticed alot of other people in threads seem to be having this problem so if we can figure it out I would love to make a thread to help out others...thanks in advance...
did you talk to your provider, they may have adjust or refresh your account settings from their end.
That's very weird actually, i used to have issues sending MMS but i never had any issues receiving them.

i have talked to at&t and finally got them to change my account and settings so I know for 100% that I am on the right rate plan and settings......
I to was having problems with MMS on ATT but my problem was sending them not receiving though. After I was sure I had the correct apn setting a customer services specialist had me do this. Try opening your phone dial pad and entering *5005*7672*+13123149810# then the green phone button. This is suppose to reset your sms/mms setting back with the network. Long and behold it fixed my problem of sending mms.
just to double check something - are you leaving your data (edge or 3g) enabled? disabling the phone's data connection will prevent mms from coming through.
Been waiting on AT&T to get back to me, having opened a tech ticket (On Sunday) to resolve issue. I can receive MMS messages, but I can't send one. Regular SMS not a problem. Have no issue with my Data connection. Reviewing the logcat file, I see a HTTP 502 error bad gateway showing up when the error occurs. So I am wondering if this is an issue with the HTC Phone on AT&T Network.
I have tried using different APNs, but that doesn't have any effect. I then decided to try a different ROM from Stock, and installed Venom latest. That had no effect.
So anyone else having an issue with sending MMS on AT&T with the M9?

Ruu and start over. Something has happened somewhere. I can't think of anything but a setting that would cause that. I would only backup your photos etc, i would not restore back to your current setup. Use ruu.exe or sdcard method, not fastboot method.

I'm going to wait for AT&T I think it's an error on their end. Supposed to hear by Friday.
I have had that exact problem with a different device before and it was an issue on the network side, not the device. They had to do some reprovisioning with line and that fixed it up. It is ridiculous that they are making wait so long when it is such an easy fix. Have you tried sending an MMS to yourself? Sometimes this helps with the provisioning.

Yes I have tried that, and sometimes it works but mostly doesn't. Supposed to hear back today.
AT&T never got back to me, so I had to call them. The girl I was working with seems to think it's the SIM card. That doesn't make sense to me, because if it works with the Interwebs, Facebook, Instagram, and I can recieve MMS, then I would think it's not the SIM card, whatever. Am going to test it the SIM card on my S4 to see if that makes a difference (Don't think it will.)
The people that answer the phone when you call are the first level of support. They know very little when it comes to technical support. If turns out not to be the sim card, calk back and ask them to pass you on to the next level of support.

I agree, the person I spoke with last Sunday elevated me to a next level tech who was still unable to figure it out. After trying a new sim card which still didn't work, I did a data reset from settings. It fixed the problem, and I still had root
fix
go into Apps manager go to all and find, [MmsService] in there you will find how to turn it back on had the same problem.
