Hello everyone,
I want to start this thread so we can discuss ways to improve the pathetic camera software that comes bundled with Windows Mobile 5.0.
I'm tweaking the Registry and I found several interesting things, but for the time being, I have only managed to enable/disable the camera shutter sound (or even change it to some other sound).
With your favorite Registry Editor, navigate to HKLM/System/Pictures/OEM and change the ShutterSoundVolume value from 32768 to 0
Save changes and test camera. If you like the results power down the Pocket PC, wait 2 secs then Soft Reset with stylus.
That's it!
I will be posting some more findings as they become available.
My goal is to improve the capture quality of the Video Capture portion of the application.
Best regards,
Rayan
Now that's the greatest thing i've ever heard ... We need to fix the camera because its quality is really bad.
Now let's see . IA camera is 100 times better than the one installed on the device ( v2.10 ) . After installing it , the Album works fine BUT when running the camera application , i have nothing but a black screen
Now maybe we can do something to disable the installed one and use the IA instead.. i think it would be gr8
nice thread thanks for adding this topic in the wiki .. but i move the thread to Himalaya Upgrading etc. to avoid confusion with other HTC devices ..
anyway heres my input ..
the exact commandline to call the camera is
pimg.exe -camerakey
icon is found in shellres.dll to be exact -8263(shellres.dll,-8263)

THANKS AGAIN RAYAN FOR ADDING THIS TOPIC IN THE WIKI .. FEEL FREE TO EDIT THE WIKI ..
Thank you toenailed for the detailed description of the registry...
This will save us some time.
Let's see what we can do...
Best regards,

minor correction
NOTE:
The correct path to the Camera Key in the Registry is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Pictures\Camera\USER
But thanks again toenailed!
oooppps sowee thanks rayan .. just edited my post ..
Does this mean that by disabling the MS camera, we can use IA Camera instead?
I hope so 8)
Solved "slow" camera response problem???
I have accidentally solved the slow camera problem in my Hima but, unluckily I don't know which of the programs or drivers I installed did it!?
I maybe able to simulate it if I do a soft reset once again but it will be another tedious job of reinstalling the apps one-by-one, since I'm now using Sunnysoft Backup Manager to do away with the tedious reinstallation process.
Can anybody with slow camera problem pls try if the attached file [CameraRC10_Streaming_reg.CAB] solves the problem?
I will appreciate a feedback on the matter so that on my next soft reset I don't have to sort out the apps or drivers to test which one solved it!
Thanks a lot.

1. Yes, it appears that the ZOOM does not work yet... Remember that the WM5.0 version we have is not the final version...
2. If you enable Bluetooth and turn on your BT Headset, that option works... Maybe you are talking about the Loudspeaker function.
3. I've been looking all over the place for that Theme. No luck yet.
thanks
thanks for your advice rayan
if u find the theme u know
where to post
Can somebody please extract these dlls from WM2003 or SE and post them here?

Hey rayan,
any developments on making IA Camera WORK???
update us please......
Unfortunately there are no news on the front....
I've never received the set of DLLs from WM2003SE that I requested (see above posts)... :?
Without them I can't proceed...
the files is included in Camera and Album cab
but i suggest you to use the Dumped Magician OS since the Album and Camera is much newer than in Himalaya Wm2003SE (camera or album i think is version 2.70 or greater)
i will uploade the Dumped Magician ROM 1.11.00WWE in
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/magician.rar
its size is 15.2MB, so it the file is smaller pls download later till i finish uploading it ..
but if you want to thoroughly study the MS Camera .. study it in this Registry Section
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\Camera\OEM

I decided I was creating too much noise tonight and decided to do something productive.
Attached is a zip archive with two files
1) Housers excellent todaygif plugin
2) a special gif created for ap4 (anyone can use it)
To install
1)unzip both files onto device
2)run cab to install todaygif
3)goto settings-personal-today and select todaygif item
4)go back to today screen
5)initially a cat will be animated
click and hold stylus in todaygif area
select config from context menu
6)for the gif, goto wherever you put ap4cylon_today.gif for x put in 160 for 192 dpi.
You wont be sorry. Useless but fun.
To
Attached is a zip of a smaller version of the gif that is a little smoother (and a preview but actual gif is much higher quality)
Okay, last one. This gif will stretch the full length of a 640x480 screen and give you some animation.
set position in todaygif to 0,0
My Gallery displays photos by date. I have a couple of folders that I want it to display the photos by name of photo instead of date. Is there an option somewhere to get it to do so?
Pictures I take, I'm fine with the default date sorting, but downloaded pictures, or pictures I've imported from my PC I want to see listed alphabetically or numerically.
Just Pictures is a gallery app that allows you to sort your images by title or date. It's free.
I don't like how the album art from my music mp3 shows up in Gallery. I get like 50 different folders in Gallery each containing a thumbnail.
All I want to do is to easily find my Camera pictures!
How do i stop images being automatically added to Gallery and how can I delete them from Gallery without actualling deleting them from memory?
You need to add a .nomedia file to the folder the album art is in, although if the mp3s are in the same folder than they too might not be picked up by the default music player
For quite a while I wondered how to edit my 3D photos, not anything too crazy just things like adjusting the contract, saturation, etc.. By default it seems that our camera captures 3D photos in mpo format, which is not possible to edit as easily as a jpeg in a photo editor. HOWEVER, if you set the format to jps, you can now edit them in any photo editor that can edit jpeg files!! Apparently jps files are just jpeg files with the right and left images side by side. I have attached a sample I did, for upload I had to set the file extension to jpg because jps wouldn't allow a file size over 97kb?! Anyhow I did this one in PicSay Pro but you can of course get more creative and use Photoshop or my favorite, GIMP. It's VERY EASY to do and very fun. For the longest time I didn't know how to do this so I thought I'd post this info for the others like me that didn't know. I was able to open the file for editing without changing the extension from jps to jpg/jpeg, HOWEVER the photo editing applications if they don't recognize or allow you to save it as a "jps" file extension just save it as a normal jpeg/jpg and then manually change the extension to jps and you will be able to view it in 3D like normal on your EVO 3D. ENJOY!!!!!!!
UPDATE:
You can now even edit your MPO 3D images, from your phone, but you have to convert them to SIDE BY SIDE JPEG first, and you can use this great program to do it! Tobidale3D!
Here's how:
1. Install Tobidal3D.
2. View your MPO 3D image from the regular Gallery*.
3. Select SHARE for the photo you want to convert, select Tobidale3D, then select SHARE AS 3D*.
4. Press MENU, then select Parallel Stereo Format (see attached).
*Optional method: You can just open Tobidale3D and view all your pics with it directly then save from there, but I think using the gallery is easier.
Now you can edit the newly saved file as it's converted to a side by side jpeg jps file (it has a jpeg/jpg extension). The rest of the original editing instructions apply.
Awesome editor! I would recommend in addition to PicSay Pro, which costs about 4 bucks, you can use Pixlr-o-matic. It's free and works great and creates high res images, unlike some editors. The default native editor apparently saves in the exact same resolution as the original file. So that's another option if you want to keep full resolution and if you're happy with the editing effects offered by it.
I have attached a zip file with the original MPO file, the file converted to SBS, one edited with the native gallery editor (High Contrast option), then 8 images edited with Pixlr-o-matic. I have optimized the jps files using GIMP on my PC for the sake of file size for this thread, usually however the pics were about a meg in size each.
Hope you guys enjoy editing your 3D pictures!!!!!!!!
Awesome man Thanx....
Nice,I got some work to do now lol

Conversion
Sorry if it's off topic a bit (which it is, or I wouldn't say that right?), but I can't find the result I'm looking for ANYWHERE. I just got an Aiptek 3D Camcorder, and it takes pictures not in .JPS, not in .MPO, but a regular side by side .JPG! I'm trying to find an online tool, or application (I'm on a Mac but I could probably run it in CrossOver if it's a Windows app) to convert FROM .JPG to either .MPO or .JPS. The end result is I want to create a wiggle animated GIF so that I don't need glasses to show people 3D pictures I've taken, so if someone even knows of a process to convert from .JPG to an animated GIF wiggle that would be even better. Thanks in advance!

Rename the jpg files to JPS. Viola! JPS is the same as JPG just has the JPS extension to show it's a STEREO (S) Jpeg. There is an application for windows to convert stereo images here:
http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/
Good luck!
