Is there a consenus which text editor / notepad works best for the non-touchscreen? There seems to be very little offer out there ....
I'm using Osymo text editor
Thanks, but I was thinking more along the lines of freeware or open source ....
Free? Try Vieka WordPad (http://www.vieka.com/wordpad.htm).
Was using that previously.
I just use the one built into Total Commander - http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm
Or even Word. Just couple DoNew with it - http://www.modaco.com/content/smart...31/office-2007-support-added-to-modaco-donew/
On your Rose, you should be able to already edit text documents etc using word, but not create new ones. DoNew allows you to create new word/excel files.
thanks to both of you !
This is very helpful

Or, Tillanosoft's is even simpler....
http://tillanosoft.com/
However Tillanosoft's cannot open files larger than 300kb.. Which actualy sucks and I don't see any use for it then (and better not talking about their tgetfile). I can open files up to 100kb and more in PocketIE...

Neither Orneta Notepad is perfect. If I choose go to the end of cca 300 kB TXT document, it just dont do anything. It sucks. Have to use Documents To Go for editing these larger files.
Yeah it sucks. I just need to open and not edit the document (Notepad x Lister in Windows XP). But like in Windows, it opens for editing... So I also have to use DTG for opening larger text files...

Hi everyone..
i would like to ask if there is any setting in the phone or any application that allows me to view a bigger (fullscreen if possible) picture of the person i'm calling or that's making an income call..i only have a small thumbnail pic of the contact!
And while am at it..i was wondering how to find and open this kind of folders:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\........]
Ecc..
Thanks!
There is a free program called S2U, (Slide 2 Unlock)
by A_C. It has a full screen caller ID option within the program. Originally designed to mimic the Slide 2 Unlock feature of the iPhone, but you might be able to disable this feature and use only the Caller ID. <-- Sorry its been a while since I have used it and I dont know what has changed since. Here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381588
Thanks, i'll try to check it out..
Any suggestions for the second question?

you will need a registry editor of sorts. i myself use resco registry it is part of the resco explorer software package but is not free.
maybe try the search function in this site and you might be pleasantly surprised at what you find. search= registry editor

[EDIT] .. i guess its the HKLM..right?
Thank you so much...uhm...but it seems i have another problem! haha
when i enter registry i see 3 folders:
HKCR
HKCU
HKLM
so...where do i go for this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\PhoneExtendS etting] ?
Sorry i kinda "suck" at this.. lol
Done, thanks to everyone for all the help!
You have to read it like this:
HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
That should do it
yes, HKLM. most things are in there that u need just keep goung through them like folders til u get
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\PhoneExtendSetting
no contact image key there, but you can change EndCallTime to 1000 by clicking on it and editing it. this will hangup quicker
So I just got my flyer. I'm loving it however saving edited files seems to be an issue right now for me. Yesterday I tried to save a pdf with annotations on it and it wouldn't let me. After trying several different things I got it to save as. But then when I went and looked at the files on my SD card I had several partial saves, that all I had to do was change the file extension to .pdf and they were viewable with my annotations.
But now I can't save AT ALL using Polaris office on a word document. I've tried save and save as, as well as trying to save a scribe annotation and just a standard text addition. When I try to save and save as, I do not get any type of error or confirmation, just a quick spinning circle that disappears after a second. But nothing is saved.
Anyone run into this?
Called HTC tech support. The guy on the phone wasn't helpful at all, but I figured it out while I was on the phone with him. File extensions must be in lowercase!
I can save edited docs in Polaris.
In PDF Viewer, after inking and saving as flatten, an error message appears. However, the file is actually saved as a .tmp file. If you open an explorer, change .tmp to .pdf. You can open the saved file.
Hope that helps.
I have song lyric files (I'm in a cover band...) from windows notepad in txt format. I need an app that will open them and display as ms notepad would. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Check this out.
This is Android Counterpart of Notepad++. Droidedit search Play Store.
I use it for coding, however I am 100% sure it will do your job.
Also it has more features than ordinary notepad.
(All features of MS Notepad + Extra features).
Press Thanks if helped.
thank you, I would give it a try, but you didn't include the name of the app...
There is DroidEdit Free which also has a cheap pro version. It more similar to notepad++ though.

He may not have rooted phone. In that case root explorer is useless.

u can use Xplore for editing/modifying or creating txt file...
on the other hand, u can use Note Everything for running a lyrics library
but, as u just require a txt file editor, I'll strongly recommend Xplore

I search a good Code Editor for Android. Since there are many Texteditors available, i didn't want to try out all of them, to find the right one. So maybe someone here can please suggest a good editor for me? In the first line, the Editor should be load fast, also with huge Textfiles with 500Kb or more. The App should also find the correct encoding for the File automatically, since i would like to use it with Windows and Unix/Linux Files. Brace Matching is needed, Syntax Highlighting for files like PHP, HTML, CSS, Apache Config and so on are welcome, but not a real must have. Also, if there would be code folding support, this would be a great thing. Its not important, if it is a paid or free app. I would purchase the app, if it is good enough. I have tried QuickEdit, which seems to be really fast, but i doesn't have brace matching. DroidEdit seems to have all features, but it was very slow on a Galaxy S7, compared to QuickEdit. With Quoda i miss Syntax Highlightning but the App crashes with large files. TurboEdit doas not load my Files either, i don't know why. So the closest things are Quoda and QuickEdit.
Maybe someone here have other suggestions? Maybe with additional feature where i could use this App also as fast Viewer for large Logfile?
May be this one be comfort for you
I use Dcoder, Mobile Compiler IDE - play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paprbit.dcoder&hl=ru (sorry, I can't post outside links)
It's fast and supports many languages. But i didn't test it with a big files.
It's free, but have ads, that don't work without internet connection. =)
what is a code editor?
