I am going on a trip to Spain for a month and I am using the WM 6.5 mystic series ROM and although slightly more stable than my last ROM it still crashes a lot while texting.
What is the most stable WM 6.5 ROM and if there isn't should I just go with WM 6.1 ROM?
What is the most stable WM 6.5 ROM and if there isn't should I just go with WM 6.1 ROM?[/QUOTE]
All the 6.5 ROMs are unofficial and not fully complete. They're running fast and smooth, but there can always be some specific issues, especially with some games. As far as I know the most stable is the latest build you can get from Da_G, and the whole rest are build with his kitchen.
I use 6.5 ROMs for quite a long time with no major problems.
anything from nrg 6-13 3.0 rom has been great. Fast stable and reliable
Sheps ROM is very stable with everyday basic use. But don't try any game emulators or rely on the windows lock, as I noticed it was a bit slow. He is also using the WVGA youtube (seriously, I don't know why ROM cookers can't just use the VGA one, it's the same exact thing but for VGA!) and the ROM is also using the older htc album application. Titanium seems to be ignored by Shep and only the basic widgets work, such as email, phone notifications, text, time, pictures and calender etc. Other than that it worked very well with the 1.14.25.05 radio, at least where I live for calls, texts, GPS, and email.
Other than that I haven't really found any super-stable 6.5 ROMs if you want EVERYTHING to work such as all the WM programs and today-screens. But for the basics of a smartphone, I would vouch for sheps rom.
I don't know, everyone just seems to be having great experiences with their WM 6.5 ROMs.
Is there something I'm doing wrong because all of the ROMs I have tried have incredibly buggy sms messaging.
why has no one realized yet that these questions don't belong in the ROM section and should be in the Raphael general discussion thread?
i had to go back to 6.1, I love the look and feel of 6.5 but battery life was getting worse and pandora would time out after 1 or 3 songs... :0( I will go back to 6.5 when pandora works as well as with 6.1
I have never heard of a pandora issue with 6.5, which ROM were you using and did you try setting your internet to not disconnect after X seconds/minutes? Just trying to help, because IMO 6.5 is leaps and bounds way ahead of 6.1 in terms of usability, functions are mainly the same, but I could never go back to 6.1 and I've been using 6.5 since January when Da_G first released his leaked build.
I don't know what SMS problem you're referring to, but I have major issues with hardware keyboard lag on every single 6.5 rom I've ever tested. The one rom that did "okay" was the special stripped Image Update test rom Da_G came out with a week or so ago. It had no camera and was missing several other modules for testing purposes, but miraculously it was the most stable 6.5 I've ever used.
I've flashed regularly since Da_G started his 6.5 rom kitchen thread, so I've seen every build. The one way to circumvent any issues would be to use TF3D2's built-in SMS (which is flawless, except for the tapping the text box AFTER you slide out the keyboard) or use something like Vito SMS Chat, or other third party sms program. They all seem to have 0 to no lag whatsoever and are relatively stable. I think the problem lies in WM6.5's pocket outlook backend.
I use this ROM it's rather stable:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528217
if ur using my most current rom its not very stable at all lol.
But guys, you should agree with me. The most stable WM 6.5 rom which you can use on daily base should be this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477235.
Why: fast-stable-lite-nice theme-etc.
Who agrees with me??

I am currently running Ryan Moguls build 21501 (With NueKernel High memory)
I have 25mb of ram free at boot, and throughout the day with Activesync Exchange syncing and the hundreds of texts I sometimes get.. It goes as low as 11mb - 12mb.
This rom is stable and fast. I have found a few minor bugs but nothing serious.
I would like to upgrade to a newer build. Can I get some suggestions on the newest most stable version to go with. I use it for work and I'm on call 24X7. So it needs to work reliably. Any suggestions?
After testing a bunch of roms... i like 23017. Does anyone know of a 23017 build with the vogue / touch dialer cooked in?

Here I havent tried it but I am sure it works. Vogue dialer in CAB form. Now this uses its own ResOver/Bitmaps BaseDll. Some carriers on custom ROMs work best when using a specific one. For example Cricket works best when using the Override_VZW.dll. So if anything funny happens with anyone that tries this you may need to re-assign your original BaseDll. Here is the registry location to backup. With the value names.
HKLM\Security\ResOver\Bitmaps
BaseDll
BaseId

how is this rom compared to tom's 2.06 (tf3d 2.1) rom?
for me tom's 2.06 is the best from regular (not m2.5) roms, everything works good, very stable, pretty fast and no bugs at all.
the main difference is 2.06 vs 2.08, this can be felt in some way?
anyone tried them both & can compare?
10x.

I've tried both. I like Tom's ROM and used it for some time but the Facebook integration always caused Touchflo to restart for me, this doesn't happen on Dutty's.
Therefore I prefer Dutty's Had no crashes, very stable and a few other tweaks I like.
Downside is having to add a lot of CAB's to get the look that I want but this is down to a. my personal preference and b. my inability to make things myself!
Hi do anybody know how to change to 3 rows instead of 4 rows for dutty rom? Tried tom's cab but it doesn't work. Screw up the start menu display.

On the other hand, installing a new keyboard is about the easiest thing you can do. Ezinput, FingerKeyboard or others...
Well worth it if you're otherwise happy with the ROM. I've never ever had a custom ROM that's been exactly the way I like it. But I don't complain about it, I fix it.
i would like to switch off "vibrate when keys are pressed", but i can't find the setting?!
some one please explain difference between MSVC and non MSVC versions
i tried to search but found its something with linux or c++ i don't know any of them how this difference seen to user?
all previous roms are with or without MSVC?
MSVC is Microsoft Voice Command (or Control ?) which gives you the abilty to operate your phone by voice commands.

Anyway how about Page rotation on this Rom?It's just for me or there is nothing like that ever there?
I don't like the new Acrobat reader, you can't view pages completely as full screen,I'm sure Dutty will take care of these few things pretty soon.
Is this bug with weak signal indication? I can see no more than 2 bars.
I read about similar problem with udK's Leo ROM. And there was problem with icons file, as I can remember.
With udK's R6 and Shadowlines 6.5 Stable there was no signal strength problems (radio the same).
And thanks for great ROM. I think, that you must name it R1, not R0. It is solid and fast.

OK, thanks. It works.
Hope, this fix will be included into new release.
I am on Tmobile and live in Lincolnshire, so have never enjoyued great signals. However, I genuinely think that this ROM is brilliant. I have yet to come across a bug.
If I'm being a picky arse, I would like the Wireless to be on demand, but this is being picky.
I think this ROM is very fast indeed and this mythical beast, 'dutty', has got a new fan...Excellent
I have been using udK's R6 before but now tried this one.
Good experience. The hotfix fixed the signalbar thing.
Don't like the File explorer ex version though.
The wifi seems to stay on all the time and does not automatically disconnect when not in use, even tough it is set up that way. Anyone got this too? Drains the battery pretty fast....
sms notification doesn't seem to work in stand by either...
This is my first attempt at cooking a ROM, driven by the desire to fix the HTC messaging application. Therefore, there may be some imperfections but it works for me! Thanks go out to the OSKitchen and many threads on here about cooking.
This ROM is built from the official 2.53 ROM but with Manila from the Touch Pro 2. Someone decided to write that version of Manila to use the WM messaging with the Sense 2.1 style messaging interface Arcsoft MMS is cooked in for MMS functionality. The SMSRetry service is included so messages can sent without coverage with the phone sending when coverage is found.
Pagepool is set at 20MB as this seems to produce a very smooth ROM. Although not cooked in, I've used TD2 Tools 3 to increase file system caches, graphics caches and several other tweaks and it is now very smooth!

Notes:
I would set your radio band from Auto to your regonal settings (GSM 900/1800 3G 900/2100 in UK) as it seems to lower battery use,

Stock 2.53 ROM has OS 5.2.21887 build, Manila 2.5.20121324.1
Updated with OS and Manila versions.
Thanks BeeGee, your mirror has proved invaluable as HTC, Rapidshare, etc always seems to fail just as I want to download a ROM.
Will try to post some screenshots later (prob tomorrow now) but it really is just stock Windows 6.5 / Manila 2.5 but with 2.1 style messaging (and WM messaging of course). I haven't changed any styling.

No, it hasn't got the Document tab i'm afraid.. I think it can be added through a cab though.. [EDIT] Have a read through this.. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Manila%20Tutorial%20Two

Hi Craig,
I have flashed your ROM. It looks good so far. Original Windows Mobile messaging works great.
Otherwise, it looks pretty the same as recently published original HTC ROM with Sense 2.5. There is also missng HTC task manager button on Today's screen. But I have installed attached cab and it is patched now.
In general, it seems to be a good piece of work and great idea to bypass original HTC messaging. I
Many thanks.
Monsoon
Thanks Monsoon78, finally Sense 2.5 on our Topaz is usable!
Yeah, i've installed the task manager is on my device too, quite why they left it out i don't know.. I shall hopefully post some useful cabs this evening (as well as some screenshots!).
Craig
I'm using a french HTC 6.5 sense 2.5 rom, have you a fix for MS SMS and T9 ?
No, I'm afraid it had to be cooked into the rom. I don't think it can be made into a cab.
I haven't worked out the T9 words issue yet..
Craig
I was looking for a stock Rom with WM messaging for a long time I was considering to cook one but time isn't too much
Many many thanks craiglay
Interesting issue, My service provider, O2 UK was blocking some of my MMS being sent to my phone, giving me a message that I cannot receive that type of MMS. Turns out this is a size issue, I could send / receive small MMS!
Turns out this is due to my provider not recognising my phone and sending it as basic as possible (compatibility mode) Quote: Here from O2 Forum
A Google search shows that setting it to an N95 seems to fix it. Quote: Here, with solution
So, in a registry editor:
HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Arcsoft \ Arcsoft MMS UA \ Config \ mm1 \ WspHeader
User-Agent: NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
x-wap-profile: "http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml"
and all is good!!
Craig
Can't believe this thread only has 2 pages. Doesn't everyone using 2.5 currently affected? Is this the best solution craig?
I know, maybe everyone just lives with 2.5 style messaging or the various cab hacks. I also believe several other ROM's have integrated 2.1 messaging (EnergyRom is one I believe) but they are heavily customised to the author. I prefer to start with a pretty standard ROM and customise it to my liking.
Its really just a personal project that I've shared with the community. I customise it further myself.
Regarding the best solution, I don't know. I would prefer the HTC Messaging application over WM messaging but I personally can not live with the lagging. The cab hacks work, but from experience can have notification / SMS bubble issues. The Manila version here has been written (by HTC or OEM) to use WM messaging natively which is what makes it different.
Craig
Hi,
I just wanted to add my experience with Craiglay's ROM. The stability seems to be good. After 5 days of testing, I haven't encountered any major issues except the one, which is common to last official HTC ROM. This ROM has PAGE POOL 20 MB which seems to improve the performance compared to official HTC release. Battery drain is not bad. I am quite addicted to the phone, so one may can achieve even better results. I use lot of email synchronization, RSS channels and have 3G enabled. My battery runs out in about 36 hours. One important remark, I run it with radio 4.49.25.17
With regards to the bugs, as Craiglay has already indicated in the post #1, there is an issue with T9 dictionary, because new words are neither permanently stored in the memory, nor they are inserted into to the text, when you add them manually. This is a bit annoying since you need to retype the word once again and teach the dictionary all the time, when you reboot the device. I wonder if there is any solution for this bug ?
Inspite of this bug, I plan to stay with this ROM.
Thanks.
Radim
Thanks for the review Monsoon78! I run it with Radio 4.49.25.91 which works well.
Unfortunately I have been unable to sort out the T9 issue I've tried a few different versions and the suggestions Here but still looking into it.
I have however an updated ROM with Manila 2012.1412 with Sense 2.1 / WM messaging. It also includes the Document and ereader tabs, no Sprint branding and cool animated rotating effects in Albums and Music.
If testing goes ok over the weekend, i'll upload the ROM soon.

Cool!! Unfortunately I've dropped the eReader, Document tab and Footprints as there were too many issues and battery drain was HUGE!! You could still hack in the tabs if you really want them with the link i posted above.

Sorry for the delay!! Please appreciate I want to release something good with few bugs!

Hai guys,
I've been playing around with JoshKoss' (great work on the ROM dude ) WM 6.5 ROM but it eats up too much RAM and is kinda slow for my taste. Plus the limitations of the new start menu put me off too much from it.
So I was wondering which is the best Windows ROM around for this device, preferably one that has WPA/WPA2 support (also if I would support videocall that would be really nice xD)
Thanks in advance,
K.
I want to know too!

For now use Joshkoss' LITE 6.5 ROM, works fine for what I want for now, and it's not as slow as the FULL rom: LINKY
hope it works for you bro
I like DarkVisions 5.0 Final. It's based on Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional but different than moust ROMs on XDA.
The best ROM for TyTn plenty of free RAM and an amazing speed.
Also there is another 7 ROMs versions but i like the best Final.
You can flash all and take one you like the best. Use Search write DarkVisions.
My advice: Upgrade Shamanix Grass 2.2 Lite rom.He have 31 MB free ram after boot.Very fast, start menu in Windows 6.1 is much better than 6.5.Also Win 6.1 is much more responsive and much faster. You can find test here with 52 roms.If you like stable and fast rom use Grass 2.2.He dont have `cool stuffs`,stupid addons and dont have stuff like Manilla...If you really like cool today screen install some SPB on 6.1... Windows 6.5 dont have nothing new.Only stupid start menu.or Marketplace ? pffff....
And yes Grass 2.2 have 3G Video Dialer.I tested, work very good...Ofcourse have and wpa... Test it !!! If you find faster rom,pls share with us : )
Personally 6.1 with all the 6.5 finger friendly menus etc. implemented for the best of both worlds, Ive seen most of it on alot of roms but never together, and some stuff like contact list/message list finger scrolling I have not seen so not sure it can be done, You can always run other apps for the purpose on top in stead tho. Manila on 6.1 was good, ok on 6.5 too but short on ram yeah. Start playing with ROMs and identify what you don't care, or can't live without, I'm just getting a clear picture out of all that is available myself. That's the nice thing about wm you can run anything , in stead of the millions that can only run one interface. lots of 6.1/6.5 hybrid choices, I liked Josh's or TAIs and many others out there, for 6.5 QuePC and MrDSL both did a great job especially since I like manila which i guess is a ram hog ;p
I would say Shamanix Grass 2.2 Lite rom is the fastest and the most clean rom out there + no extra addons. After you have updated search for crc cab files or schaps cab files to install addons you want - eg htc home screen or whatever. /Keca
I personally use TAI's lite; it's got the latest built of Windows (28236) and it's really light so that you can load any device-memory only applications such as SPB Mobile Shell that you can think of.
Video calls are not possible, if you got it from an American carrier, i.e. AT&T, because they remove the front video camera.
Can anybody suggest a light clean stable 6.5 rom with only tweeks/fixes but without fancy stuff?
Tried shamanix and CRC's roms (6-6.1), they are great, not bloated and fast. I'm only using hermes for reading/music/calls, I don't want to get OOM after opening a pdf along with core player.
So far I tried TAI's light (latest) but it had some 'link not found' errors, low on RAM and task manager app (forgot the name) which I can't uninstall is buggy and ram hungry. So the rom is not-so-light
Alee's HTC Titan/XV6800/Mogul ROM - Build 23569
Notes: Your phone must be unlocked. I use Olipro 2.40. You also have to have a GPS radio installed. I use version 3.42.50. Please read up on flashing roms for the Titan if this is your first time. I'm not responsible for you breaking/bricking/making your phone unusable. Use at your own risk!
I will include a Verizon ROM and a Carrierless ROM. Should work with DCD's carrier cabs, but I have no way to test. Please let me know if it works!

6.5.X ROM 23569 - No Carrier - Updated 5/23/10

This is a WM6.5 ROM for the Titan. I've started cooking a rom for this device because it seems like other ROMs don't update with new builds too often anymore. This 6.5 ROM is designed to be light and useable everyday.
It has 23MB of free RAM in low memory mode, and about 29MB of free RAM in high memory mode(no camera) while using ActiveSync. It runs stable and has 119MB free memory for programs/files.
In order to save memory and resources, some packages have been removed. This means that not all features are available or will not work with this ROM. If it's not included in the ROM, and somebody asks for the feature, I'll do my best to provide a method to install the features in the future.
This is a work in progress, and it's not for everybody. Some things just don't work, but the things that work run well.
I'm going to try to support this ROM as best as I can, but I'm not a pro at this. Alot of my work has been trial and error and reading through the forums to fix my mistakes. I will probably try to keep up with updates until January of 2011, where I'll be able to get a Touch Pro 2 with Verizon's new every two.
The ROM generated thanks to the PPCKitchen.org project. I think it's a great utility that helps a normal person like me cook a custom ROM. Feel free to give their utility a try if you want to cook your own ROM.
Additionally, thanks to all the developers who have publicly provided fixes/patches/updates/programs to the Titan world. Most are long gone and have moved on to better phones, but I wouldn't still be using my XV6800 without their work.

Improve Memory Management
Optimize Graphics Files
hi alex,
nice to know theres any update ROM for Mogul.
I'll try it
thanks
gonna test it out. Sounds good though. Thanks
New Version
Updated the ROM today. I cleaned up the Titanium registry entries and it seems to have made the Titanium screen snappier and smoother. I also put in some reg entries that are supposed to help the 6.5 memory leak issues. Seems to work well enough for now.
Calculator Replacement
Since you're already doing a Calculator Replacement, I'd submit that you consider using the program 'Eval' ( www .dl-c.com/PPC/ )
I've been using it for many years going back to pre-phone pdas and I think it works better then the built-in, and possibly better then the HTC version (though I can't guarantee that)
check it out and let me know what you think
souns good imma try it right now. is there a way you can build one with cricket arcsoft and wap built in if possible
Can't use WiFi

but just one problem which it cannot use wifi as before.
would you mind telling me how to solve this?
thank you very much!
@915Tibby.
I have no idea what cricket is, but if you send me a link to a thread with the files and some sort of instructions, I'll give it try.

Wifi works for me...can you describe where you run into problems when you try to connect?
hello everybody!
Im really new here so i was wondering....
Is there a reason I should be using this ROM instead of Ryan Mogul's WM6.5 light ROM? "forum.xda-developersdotcom /showthread.php?t=496982" (without the space, hyphens and switch the 'dot' with a period .)
Is this one better? Is this one more "up to date" and does it work better than Ryan Moguls WM6.5 light ROM?
THANKX!!!
I've never used Ryan's roms so I don't know what is better or not. It seems that rom is based on an older build of windows 6.5 where mine is built on the newest 6.5.5 build. The newer build has some graphical enhancements that are designed to be more finger friendly (larger buttons, start menu on bottom.)
Based on his include list, it seems like he includes more things in his ROM. I cooked my rom based on having the bare essentials and every user can install his own extras based on their preferences.
The best way to check is to try them both out and see which one is more appropriate for you.
hey i just flashed your verizon rom to my phone, and it didn't work.
Never mind! I got it working! GREAT ROM! THANX BUNCHES!!! Oh and btw, yours is much better than Mr. Ryan Moguls!
thanks for the reply

i am in China, but 23566 rom works very well for me,i mean wifi, everything.
thank you very much!
Thank you! One thing...
Thanks so much for doing this. I really appreciate getting some new life into an old device, it feels like cheating! Anyway, I have one minor nitpick. I'm a GNU/Linux user, and had trouble opening the archive because .rar is a proprietary format. Would you consider using a zip archive next time? Thanks again!
I will upload the ROM as a zip next time.
