Hey Guys, I keep trying to flash my Touch pro, and No matter what rom I use (minus the stock rom) it just sits at the "htc Rapael" screen, then restarts. I've unlocked with the SPL-0.37.CMONEX unlocker. tried the other one from the elite team, and I always get a corrupt message after it flashes.
The only rom I can flash onto this thing is the stock rom someone "Dumped" (DL from ppcgeeks).
I tried searching a bunch of times, but it's also a bit hard when you're at work and you're sitting next to a dead phone trying not to bug hehe...
Thanks guys.
Do you have a CDMA Touch Pro by any chance? IE does it have a SIM card or not? If not, either go over to the Raphael CDMA ROM section or go back to PPCGeeks before you brick your phone with the GSM ROMs
Have you changed your hard SPL package?
Quit trying to kill your phone. You clearly need cdma roms with that spl. Reading won't kill you. Not reading may kill your phone.
I tried both the Elite's 1.9 SPL and the 0.37-CMONEX SPL. Yes I have a CDMA Phone. I know I can brick it with the GSM spl, but nothing I've tried is working, and I've search so far, with no luck. I'm not too worried about bricking it. I have the insurance so it's not too much to get a new one. I'm assuming the 1.9 is GSM because although they DON'T specify, they mention things like 3G and ATT.
which is why I'm assuming it fails. there's no specifics to the ROM developement thread (as to which GSM or CDMA phone you have) so I figured if it's a ROM question it should go here? If it belongs in the CDMA section can I move it there?
Like I said, even with the .37-CMONEX SPL I can only flash the Stock rom. Any Idea's?
Go post in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=465
This is a GSM forum-you're in the wrong one. You don't even own a Raphael, you own a Herman. Check the CDMA forum or go to ppcgeeks.
Also, insurance will not cover 'user-inflicted' damage to your device. If you try to pry it open, they won't cover it. If you try to 'modify' the software features of the device (IE flashing a ROM), they won't cover it.
I'm sorry I didn't know this was a GSM only forum, I thought it was for all Rom Developement ( now I know that it's technically not raphael but herman).
and Insurance covers phones that have been run over, lost in the ocean, stole. it's not that hard to make a phone dissapear, or get run over.

Hey, I'm a long time spyer on these forums and am in a lot of trouble. I just got my Bell PPC-6800 replaced (bad keyboard), and absolutely been unable to put a custom ROM on the device. I have tried pretty much everything, using Titan Unlocker, Hard SPL, kitchens and generic ROMs, and the ONLY thing I can get working is the stock ROM again. I had no issues at all when doing the upgrade the first time with my original phone, but with this one I can't get it working.
Right now, it sticks at the Bell blue logo screen and in red where it normally has the version info it says "NO RADIO".
Please any help would be much appreciated!
im assuming you didnt miss the obvous step of flashing a compatible radio rom in addition to the roms you mentioned, right?
if not, see the sticky at the top of the forum.
Yes, I am a huge moron. I read through that exact sticky 2 or 3 times and just assumed that I did the radio flash.
Working now, thanks a lot for the help lol ... maybe I'll stick with spying
I dont know if i post in here for help, but that is what i need...
I just flashed my phone to this energy rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536751
and my phone now starts up, says touch pro, then restarts and keeps doing this cycle...
idk what i doing wrong, or if my phone is donezo or what....
someone please help a noob,
thanks
Zack
This seems to be happening to a few people here and there. You're phone is fine. Just flash to another ROM. The best way to do it because you are stuck in the cycle you are in is to flash from the SD card. Copy and paste this to go to the instructions on how to do it:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61333
I highly recommend NFSFAN's ROM.
The ROM you were trying to flash was a GSM ROM. The Forum you are posting in now is the CDMA Forum. If the your phone is indeed CDMA (You are on Bell, Telus, Sprint, Verizon) then you need the CDMA version of the EnergyROM.
Now, if your phone is GSM, then you need to go post over there.
88fingers is correct
This is caused when you put a GSM ROM on a CDMA Phone. I have accidentally done this a couple of times with ROMS that were inproperly documented. Just find a CDMA ROM and reflash your phone, and all of your problems will disappear. The proper way is to actually flash your phone to the Stock ROM. You will probably need to flash from the SD Card as you may not be able to actively sync the phone to the computer to do a flash.
I've done the same thing prob 20 times or so...till I found out that my touch pro is a cdma (if you have an SD card its a cdma)and not a gsm...and is also called a Herman not a raphel to the best of my knowledge so far. As far as re flashing goes I've always done it from the boot screen(hold the power button, volume down, and the soft reset button until the boot screen appears). Once I bring up the boot screen i hook plug into USB and flash. Thats just how I've done it not saying its the best why by any means.

Let's get this straight boys. ALL TOUCH PROS HAVE A microSD CARD SLOT.
If your phone has a SIM card then you have a GSM phone. This is known as the Raphael.
If you have no SIM card, then you have a CDMA phone which is known as the Herman.
ok guy, that is exactly what i did wrong, i reflashed my phone to a cdma rom, thank you tremendously for your assistance!!!
but when i flashed to a different rom, im having some problems with it freezing up and such, would this be due to the rom, or me going from my mess up to a different rom?
Should i go back to a stock rom like i think someone stated prior?
is that the same as the unlock utility then?
thanks
The unlock utility is the CID (carrier ID) unlocker (also known as SPL HardSPL, Security Unlocker blah blah blah). It allows you to run unsigned ROMs on your phone. SIM unlocking is something else entirely - it's how you unlock a GSM phone to use on other GSM networks - so it doesn't apply here.
Only a stock ROM will run on a locked phone, hence why you have to unlock it to get all these awesome custom ROMs on there.
I'm not sure why jmy72 said to go to a stock ROM, but I've never done what you have done myself. Maybe it'll reset some things that you might have jarred during your failed GSM ROM load.
Also, you could be doing something else with the ROM you loaded. Or it could be a crappy ROM. Or a whole buncha other things. For the help with that to get any deeper, you need to expound on your "freezing and such" problems.

you are incorrect about the cdma touch pro being called a Herman .i have a Sprint touch pro and under device info it clearly shows model no. RAPH800 which IS a RAPHEL not a HERMAN

Yes it does say Raph, but whenever you are looking for roms make sure that you flash Herman. It can be a little confusing.
Dude just flash from the SD Card...your stuck in a cycle that never ends, put the rom on your sd card and it will work fine. Just ensure you have CDMA rom for a CDMA phone....for NRG roms they are called Hermans for CDMA.
I have a Sprint TP this is the ROM I used just search PPCGeeks for it: EnergyROM_21864_HERMAN_22.Oct.2009_Standard.rar
I successfully rooted my Hero last week and flashed "DamageControl_Deodexed_2.09.01.zip"
I wanted to try out another rom so I picked EzHero-V5.0.1_signed.zip
i followed the instructions in the rom thread:
Instructions:
1-Have the latest radio! Find it here
2-reboot into recovery and do Nandroid backup
3- Wipe is advised but not needed if you come from 2.0, if not everything, including davik cache and sd ext
4- Flash the EzHero
5- Report back for reviews and problems
Recommended- GET Juice Defender, Works wonders!

I went ahead and copied the latest radio zip and rom file to the sd card. Booted my phone into recovery and followed the above instructions. I first flashed the radio zip file and it was successful. I then wiped the phone. Then came the rom flash... the phone was verifying the file but it stopped and gave me some error on some line and something about radio.img. I figured the rom i downloaded had an error so i went ahead and try to reboot the device. The device restarts with a box, arrow, and phone logo. I have no idea what this image is so I leave the phone alone thinking it is doing something.
I come back and the phone is black. The phone does not react to anything. I can't put the phone in fast boot (vol. down +pwr), recovery mode or anything! My computer does not show anything connected when I plug in the usb cable. No phone lights come on when attaching a home charger. I tried my friends hero battery and it still will not power up.
Do I have a brick? Any suggestions?
If you can't access fastboot or recovery, you have a brick.
OUCH,... Damage control is for CDMA Heros, Ez for GSM,... flashing a non compatible ROM "should" just result in errors,... but flashing wrong radios,.... well,... u know,... I think you are bricked.
Can you confirm if you have CDMA or GSM?

They have seperate forums...
Awww... i see what i did now...
LOL!
they should add CDMA and GSM to the title of its parent forums....
anyways, time to recycle this.
Umm, there are separate subforums for GSM and CDMA Heros...
Between HTC having multiple names for same/like devices, members not putting SPECIFICS in their titles (whether that be manufacturer or carrier related) or, at the very least, in their posts AND google's inability to read minds, I agree with stinky180. Whether or not I do a search here AFTER a google search or BEFORE searching google, I can rarely figure out what people are talking about when it comes to CDMA vs. GSM with regards to same models. Just look at the PHP breadcumbs above. Although I know that the G2 is GSM, there's not one single mention of CDMA or GSM. While I can only speak for myself, I can say that after a google search, I NEVER proceed to the home page of the forum where I can start my search in the proper subforum.
Fortunately for me though, I am from the school of Read before you Proceed and therefore I've never had issues like stinky180 above. Still, I agree. Make the background colors different or something to visually distinguish between the 2 different technologies. I really don't like reading 133 pages of a single thread just to find out that the last hour I just wasted wasn't even related to the CDMA model I thought I was reading about. I regularly see posts moved to the proper section by mods and admins, so why not make things a little more intuitive when it comes to searching for something this essential. After all, google won't bring us to the 'start' page of the subforum, where the end user is that much more (ir)responsible. I'm not saying dummies should run the forum but, as a seasoned professional, I would immediately see that the post I was reading was in the wrong subforum and therefore renew my searches. There is always a better way of doing things. This awesome forum is proof positive of that.
Peace

So I just flashed aospCMod 2.3.4 (5/16) and I forgot to flash firerats boot after...it first booted into the HTC boot screen then stopped. And now it does nothing. Doesn't turn on at all. Can't boot into recovery or anything. Bricked?
Hello,
i just want to ask if maybe one of the admins could contact the developers of HSPL, because there are many who bricked their devices because of SPL 3.03. Or maybe one of the developers themselves will read this. HSPL is the last way out in most cases (or finding somebody with a ORT JTAG Tool).
I know that you better should not update a device without collecting information before it. Indeed!
My last phone was a iPhone, so I know what I´m talking ´bout, but sometimes it just happens that you might have skipped any important information or hint.
So please help :/
You bricked your device? wow!
May be you are just stick on the boot screen where it says SPL 3.03, because you tryed to flash a ROM from the SD card that is not for your operator?
Well, if this is the case just flash an older official ROM for your operator, again from the SD card. Than you can use the actual HSPL and flash a custom ROM. That fixed it for me.

of course i already tried that, does not work.
You are not clear.
Can you get your device to boot loader?
If yes, then you can try Gold card method from there.
yes that still works, but i tried goldcard method today (1 time with the rom which bricked my device und with a custom rom and the original orange rom [my hd2 has a orange branding]) and it was not the solution for my problem :/
edit: oh and if it´s of interest: when trying to flash with goldcard method the rom which bricked it, i get the white screen with "Loading..." in the middle and then it says "Not allow" also on a white screen and "0028002" written in red, then gets back to bootscreen.
well since u can get to ur bootloader consider urself lucky it aint bricked..
Do one thing, get the newest stock rom from htc (same spl 3.03) and make sure its the right one for your device(when you enter your serial no. it should accept and give u a download link).
then try flashing that rom..
It should get you up and running.
After that you can start worrying about getting back to the old spl and/or hardspl
New HSPL
I am stuck with the same thing.
If i could only geat a new HSPL for spl 3.03.0000

Try flashing an older stock Rom one that is covered by hspl via SD card method. Then whenever you like to install that latest 3. 14 Rom do it via usb method.

So from what I understand, OlDirty89 failed to read the fine print and is now in possession of an un-usable phone.
I remember when XDA was actually a community where users like this could actually get help when faced with a situation like this...
EX> I was a noob once. My first PPC was a WM5 HTC Wizard/aka/T-Mobile MDA. I actually stumbled across this forum by accident looking for cool new apps for my phone since lets face it.. WM5 is very bland. I saw what I thought was the coolest thing I'd ever seen - a complete OS replacement loaded with new features I'd never seen on a phone before and sure enough, without reading, I downloaded and attempted to flash the ROM. Naturally, it failed and I panicked. I had paid just over $300 for the phone after all.. I came back to this site, opened a new thread titled "PLEASE HELP ME!!" and within an hour, the more seasoned users on this site helped me restore my phone to the factory state and guided me in the right direction, teaching me everything I could have ever wanted to know about WM and how to customize it. I did eventually get that cool custom ROM on my Wizard and became an established member of the community.
^^^^ This is why I absolutely CANNOT STAND flamers... Flaming a user for being less knowledgeable than you is just plain pathetic... Shows what you're like on the other end of the keyboard too... You know it was really funny because I stumbled across a statistic once that stated that 60% of users who join these forums and flame other users are overweight virgins living with their parents... Just thought that was a funny statistic worth mentioning...
Now with all of that being said.. Let's help this guy. He clearly needs it else he wouldn't have posted this thread asking for it. I'm not saying that someone should write a step-by-step tutorial right here in this thread telling him exactly how to undo what he's done, just guide him in the right direction...
This speech really reminds me of a movie I saw not too long ago...

I started a thread a little while back -- Stuck with SPL 2.02.0000 - Test ROM? that you might wanna read through to understand your situation a little better.
And just fyi, you can play/flash between 2.02 and 2.03 without problems, just DON'T try flashing 2.01 from those two.. left me with a lovely little brick.
(this is only if you flashed the 2.03 from this thread)

I experienced same things after return my phone for screen problem. Orange france gave me a new one and then my problem began. I made all the needed steps to flash a new radio and Artemis ROM and my phone became crazy. Radio failed at 99%, random soft reset etc... By chance there is a new version (1.72) on the website of orange. With HSPL2 i managed to downgrade the SPL to 1.66 version and flash with the last official orange ROM.
Frequently, my phone continue to soft reset itself and became crazy. Can't use it on a whole day, without soft reset 10 times. I decided to return it to Orange (SPL, ROM and Radio where the good ones). Received a new one, immediatly flash my phone with artemis V36 and radio 2.10.50_28 and all is ok with this last phone.
Probably problems come from the phone and not the way you try to revert back...

Hi, I've got the same problem with my Orange HD2.
I can not find any original older ROM to flash with HSPL.
No any chance to install any different rom than my "French language" ROM which is my exact problem I wanna WWE.
I had Magloader and WP7 in it. As time went by I upgraded to HD7 and never looked back. It's been a while since I have touched XDA and WM6.5.
My assumption is that even with Magloader, you only have to flash your stock ROM and it'll revert back to WM.
Mine won't go on and I suspect that I flashed a Non-Tmobile compatible ROM. Can someone confirm that this is the case? Here's the ROM string: RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.0 7U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship.exe
I understand completely that if I messed it up then it's messed up. I just wanna make sure there might be other solutions or something I am missing out.
-Thanks in advance!

Is this a final answer? I need to know if it's bricked and nothing else can be done.
Anyone thinks a shop may be able to recover it back? It won't go on at all..

Sometimes, it´s easier than you think.
You´ve got 2 options to get rid of HSPL. One of those options would be simply described in the original thread of HSPL.exe software. If you would have checked this program a little bit, you would have noticed the very fact that you can select what SPL or HSPL you want to install.
Second, you can flash your stock ROM via SD card method, this will replace HSLP and everything else - this does not work using RUU.exe via USB.

By the looks of the radio installed (2.04.50_22_2), I would say that you did brick your T-mobile phone. Take a look at the following thread for a possible solution to unbrick your phone:

Hi thanks for the response Lavell. Would MTTY be able to do anything?
The phone doesn't turn on at all, or it seems.
I've never bricked one before so Idk if this is the way it happens.
its gone. dead. it will need JTAGging or a new mainboard.
that thread wont help, the phone wont power on, and that thread requires you can get into bootloader.
that's a really early rom you used, the tmous didnt even exist when that rom shipped.
If you want to get rid of it let me know please!!!
Hey guys, don't mean to hijack the thread but I got the same problem here.
Had WP7 but could not use 2g so I went back to MAGLDR113 and installed the file below:
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship
It went all the way to 100% but now the phone is dead. Computer makes a sound when I plug in usb but I have tried changing batteries and all but it doesn't work.
Does anyone know in Dallas or areas around how to do that JTAG thing?
There is no proper documentation on how to go back to stock 6.5 Windows or at least I could not find one

At its most basic, its the same for ALL hd2's, ,
1 get the correct stock rom for your region&vendor
2 flash it
thats it.
Sadly lots of times this is shortened to
1 get stock rom
2 flash it
and people just assume they can use any stock rom, and since they usually already have HSPL installed, it allows the flash to start, and tmous phones die.
Yeh think the HSPL installer should of had a TMOUS version either blocking known bricking radio & ROMs or just an on screen message warrning & advising on checking before comencing with flash.
At end of the day it is the users fault for not researching or using a TMOUS rom to be 100% safer !
