I'm seeing 2 seperate branches of builds up here and have done several searches but I cannot seem to find what the difference is between the 23xxx branch and the 21xxx branch.
I was curious about that too...It seems there is a lot of back and forth among the chef's

As far as I know 23xxx is a RTM branch, someone said that it's Samsung, don't know if that's true. Nevermind this branch is now being polished up to increase it's performance and stability.
21xxx branch is said to be M$ development branch. New features are introduced in 21xxx builds, i.e. controls oversizing to make the screen more finger-friendly.
But maybe sb knows more on this.
The 219xx builds are rebuilds by Microsoft testing different GUI enhancements. The 23xxx are more stable and technically newer (but not really).
21828 was just ported from a Warhawk ROM.
dwizzy130
The 219xx builds seem to be developing more advanced UI elements; I guess the 23xxx are more focused on the OS (haven't worked with the latter yet myself).
Edit: what they said, lol.

Guys, we currently have the leaked Sprint ROM, and now there's word out of China that WM 6.1 Pro has been leaked.
Can dcd or someone else take the 2 and combine them into 1 single ROM? Call it the "Leaky ROM(in a good way)".

note how hard it would be to port the 6.1 rom over, and plus its still just a beta. beta + beta doesnt run well

Well, extract what .cabs you can(Threaded SMS, potential upgraded PIE, new Live Search, etc) and use those "pieces" to build a ROM with more soild footing then.
this is the only post i will make on this until a release
6.1 can be ported to titan. It has the same structure as 6.0. I've run a really old crappy build myself. The version you are all seeing floating around right now is a 30 day timebomb. Eventually, a non-beta WWE build will be released. After that, eventually it will make it to our device. But... you're going to be waiting longer than you think.
My GUESS is this summer. And from what I've seen so far, I'm not in the big hurry everyone else is.
If you see a WWE ROM with WM6.1, I would think its reasonable to bring it up here. It can be ported and I'll help. But I kind of want to put a stop to the 6.1 talk until then. I will not even attempt to convert the chinese release to WWE. Even if I did, it would mean replacing the language files with old old old WWE versions, and I have not even seen a WWE build containing some of the SYS packages of the chinese build. And some of those packages I hear are required for operation.
Just my 2 cents I guess.
Edit: also, its not made up of cabs. pulling out certain components could be realistic, but I have never been a fan of 'hybrid' builds and wont waste my time with a partial-6.1.
That 2nd link shows 5.2.1238 as the primary version number, that's an old AKU 0.2.3 that's been modified. Either it's a hybrid of old and new (which is silly) or it's just a hex-edited fake (more likely).
The leaked Sprint ROM currently has the latest real release, 5.2.1622 Build 18128.0.4.4.
Even the popular 5.2.19xx versions are betas or fakes, they don't follow the version/build/AKU numbering scheme of real releases.

I think the build youre referring to is actually a hybrid.
The current WM6.1 builds show something like "5.2.19150 Build 19150.1.0.0" - the CE OS is bunk and temporary
The newest WM6 is 5.2.1623 Build 18129.0.4.5
I agree on aku 0.7 ive always been skeptical.

I didn't know that, guess I'm a little behind! Where can I find it? Is it a ROM used on a shipping device?
Yeah, AKU 0.7 is definitely fake or beta. As far back as CE 3.x, Microsoft has never had multiple versions of the same AKU. Every AKU has its very own specific build AND version number. That can be confirmed on every existing production CE device so I've never understood why everyone has been so excited about AKU 0.7 for the past 6 months or so.
btw dcd, who's right?

it is possible in some places to rip apart a rom and make cabs of certain items, but they will be broken in ways, just like the palm threaded app, its broken on any phone that it didnt get shipped with.

Hello everyone,
I'm a senior member over in the Herald forum, I have a T-mobile Wing, aka HTC Atlas / Herald... but I have a friend who is switching to Verizon and he really liked my Atlas, and wanted to get a PPC... so I was helping him with his purchase.
My main question is, who are the cooks and what are the best roms available for this PPC? I know this is kind of a vague question, because we have n00bs asking it all the time in the Herald forum, but I'm looking for a couple of opinions and a little help getting pointed in the right direction.
Basically so far I've found :
dcd's titan ROMs & kitchen 3.0.1
key's v1.2.5 cleaned 3.35 kitchen
Are those the 2 Rom's available for this device?
He is in the medical field ... so I'd like to set him up with the most stable, fastest rom available, since he needs his phone to be reliable. What 6.1 Rom are available and what do you guys think would be his best bet?
Basically, the moment my friend purchases this phone, he is going to come over and I'm going to flash it and install any other software he needs on there... so I was trying to get some input prior to.
Thanks in advance
Nexvision cooks up a mean ROM for sure...you gotta like bells and whistles, but they are among my favs...

For stability's sake, I'd suggest sticking to a WM 6 ROM as nothing is yet official and released in WM 6.1 for the Titan.
DCD's 1.7.x is solid and tweaked based upon the pre-GPS enabled WM 6 ROMs, PPCGeeks has some cleaned releases based upon last week's Sprint release (WM 6), and you've found my kitchen that is also just a cleaning (initiated by a1jatt) of last week's Sprint release, without any built-in tweaks to the base ROM, and only options to change and add to the ROM as one chooses. My latest version (1.2.5.1) appears to be running fine with no current unresolved stability complaints against it in the thread.
I'm completely baffled by the ammount of roms available for this device.
How do I decide which one to use ?
Any personal experience from others that have used multiple roms ?
Which ones do you like the most ?
What should I be looking for ?
Thanks.
I've tried them all and Proven ROM is my favorite without question. Followed closely by Romeos and then NATF's ROM.
It's a personal preference thing anyways, just pick one and try it You'll probably try them all before you finally figure out what you're happy with.
My rule of thumb, just pick the one with the most viewed counts
Proven ROM is fast and reliable - I use 1.03. Having tried most ROM's available for the available for the TP, in my opinion Proven is your man and 1.03 is simply magnificient.

Same here, you can try proven if you like speed and extra tf3d tabs etc,if you may not like that you can use romeOs.
Build 19971/19974 are based on stable and official roms and the difference is mostly in what applications and languages are included. Builds like 20757 are experimental ones and may contain unstable applications and components from for instance the Touch HD. So you have a choice - live on the edge, or go for something that will definitely work, regardless. PROven rom looks interesting for instance, but I'll wait for another couple of revisions until qsqa has worked all the kinks out.
afaik 20757 is an official, stable build from HTC (released for touch pro hd)
when porting is done correctly, no device-dependant components are upgraded, only the underlying operating system.. so providing the porting is done correctly, no unstable applications and components from other devices will be brought in as a result Again assuming the source ROM is an officially released base.. there are plenty of others that are not!

The choice of ROM is very personal, and depends upon your needs.
I myself am using the latest build of ROMeOS, and its simply great.
This rom is very fast, responsive, has nice apps and all the great registry tweaks included. On top of that, monx® is providing us with regular updates, and support (even for Rom's with languages totally 'new' to him) you only expect from paying services. Just take a quick look @ the ROMeOS topics, and you'll be amazed...
Maybe you could add a poll to your topic?
Use the most used ROMs so you can get a clear view....

Well, I think I have obtained enough information and know-how on how to build roms and my cab/package vault has grown over time. I think its time to start giving back to this community and offer up my services with providing yet another 6.5 rom for everyone.
The question is, what is everyone's favorite build? A lot of people will stick with the latest build and I'm sure I will have to as well to keep it fresh and new, but for my first rom I want to build it based on what everyone's favorite build has been so far, so please vote for your favorite build.
I look forward to to both helping and giving back to this community who has helped my very much.
Although it's a good idea, I don't know how many of us actually know the difference between those. It might very well just be me, but i have no clue what the difference is between those. If you could post some differences between builds, it would help. Functionality, stability, battery use, etc.

Well thats the thing, some may perform better than for others. It al has to do with personal preference... and then there are some builds that nobody just likes. I stuck with 21222 for a long time because I liked the speed and stability.
Great initiative!
IMHO;
Most folks will probably defer to you expertise in determining which ROM edition will be best for them.
Adjusting the poll for features like:
Battery Life
Ease of use in Cellular mode
Ease of use in PPC mode
Typical applications to include
Manila or Non-Manila - no not Vanila; as my wife calls it
Connectivity (bt, wifi, etc.)
Might reveal a better cross-section of what to provide.
Cheers,
Yea each release seems to be different. 21222 was awesome for me. Seemed to be the fastest although 21815 is what I am using now and seems ok (still laggy though).
21222 was really the sweet spot.
Hey adam! Good job! Enter the cooking world Just be ready for the tedious reading, learning, and flashing to come. I still don't fully understand it, but it takes time to iron out the kinks and it's tedious to flash over and over again, but it seems worth it when you get closer and closer to what you want. And a vault you say? Surely you'll have to upload that vault somewhere

This thead is a good idea
Wow I was just thinking about starting the same thead topic!
We all need to give some sort of feedback in regards to what we like and what\why we are currently running. My person best was 21728 as it seem to be the smoothest if not the fasted build. Not many people tried it as DaG skipped it even though he gave us the sys. I am currently checking out a sys and xip ripped from a emu bin file to see if I see any difference as it just so happens to be 21234. Switching back and forth to see if the new VM enhanced NK.exe from DaG make a difference compared to the original 6.1 compatible NK.exe.
Keep that feedback coming in as the more opinions that are expressed the easier the decisions will be for others.
I agree with dcelluser. I am up to 21728, I dont any change as far as battery life is concern, but its better in terms of stability & smoothness. Battery is more than builds quality thus I need to know if someone finds any other build with any radio giving maximum battery, rest is always the same from 21222.
21728? Hmm, I dont even remember seeing that build. I wonder who else likes that build? Too bad I cant edit my own poll...
As far as everything else is concerned, why dont you guys also write in and say why you voted for xxxxx build and why. Was it the stability, speed, batter, ect... and what you thought about it. It may give a little more insight for other people as well.
In the meantime, im toying around with themes, taskbars and manila so when I figure out which first build to use, Ill have everything else lined up already.
I found 21222 to be the most stable build so far and had no issues with battery.
I'm flashing back to my 21222/21502 as we speak because the 218xx builds have been buggy for me.

its just that noone has cooked new official ROM hotfixes with old builds so I am using new builds otherwise I hardly see any change in its performance. They are all same almost.

Yeah, Im going to have to stick with new releases once I move on to my second release... but for my first initial release, I wanted to build a rom that most people like as an incentive for trying my new rom.
Once that happens though, I might start throwing out two releases... another oldie but goodie rom and a new leaked build.

Just be careful doingthis. It can be hard to sync two release. Even just trying to change between a Fuze build and a TP build bugged me so much that I created a Mortscript to change KB layout!
how about just putting in your blood sweat and tears to create what you think is a kick ass rom. Thats all anyone could really ask for. And not that Im asking, but I know you will. Just put that disclaimer all the other guys put in their title post, that this rom is built to your likings. If you get some whiny kid complaining because it doesnt have the extra 50 levels of Teeter, just forget about them. Just do your best with all that knowledge you have accumulated, and you'll for sure put out something great. You have been around long enough to know whats good and what doesnt work. Now Im excited to see you put it in to play. Use the build that worked best for you!

I can tell you the higher number is the newer, and therefore likely the less stable of the two. I generally avoid high build numbers, but I need my phone to work, not to glitch. YMMV.
There are two COM branches; Da_G has a thread where you will find a lot about the various iterations.
As for WinMO 7; it may not be possible to run it on a Raphael device as rumour has it that it will require a multi-touch interface ... the Raphael is single touch.
HTH,
