Windows Mobile WM6 Freeware Athan/Adhan and Timeframes Reminders - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

VakitlerPDA is a freeware software which is used as a reminder while following up ISLAMIC Timeframes and Athan (Adthan Times).
Any of your request for the V.2.8 would be appreaciated.
(Turkish and English language supported.)
Software belongs to the Basic Features; AZAN(Muslims prayer call) is played automatically for 5 times a day after you set the time according to your country.
* Predefined 44 Country & City for timeframe calculations.
* By clicking the Diyanet İnternet button, you can recieve the prayer time over the Internet buy using (Wi-Fi/GPRS) .
* Latitude and longitude information is retrieved automatically from GPS (embedded by Bluetooth or GPS). Diyanet prayer time and direction to the appropriate angle is provided for free without any external connection to the internet.
* It calculates the manually entered GPS information (latitude and longitude), appropriate prayer time and any angle direction according to the Diyanet for free without any external connection to the internet. (To manually enter the latitude and longitude information, make your own query by address, your address, latitude / longitude information from here.)
* Times are updated with Auto Calc.Option Formula at solstice, calculating the time of daily prayers. (without the need of Internet connection)
* When you select Confidential reminder at the end of time, the automatic program will turn off itself, only the prayer time will be open for warning. Without running the program or the time on the background it just gives an alert. (The system uses resources economically.)
* Exe files can run directly without requiring installation. (Compact Framework 2.0 must be installed.)
* Athan is played in mp3 format, and is read specifically to each pray time by different authorities in athan reading. You can change the existent athan file with your own one and play your own athan.
* Athan Vibrating alerts help to keep track of information in crowded places.
* The next information reminder is given in the lower right corner of the screen in yellow color.
* The calculated time for each day is displayed in burgundy color on the main screen.
* If Safi Madh option is on, the Fair athan time is played, if not athan is played an hour before the sunrise.( according to the Hanefi Madh.)
* Athan is not only played in regular pray times but also it can be used as a reminder of other special times such as Daybreak time, Israk timeframe and Doha timeframe) by an optional menu of chosing different audio files and creating different alert times in different units.
* When the Makruh timeframe alert is marked, the alert warns you 55 minutes before the actual time and 10 minutes before the kerahat time. Different audio options and number of alerts can be set.
* Daybreak is the best time to wake up in the night for Tahajjud, so alert modes are avaliable fort his pray, too.
* Time calculation can be done with any of the accepted pray times around the world.
* Calibration of time can be created according to where you are to adjust the time to the location.
* When the athan time comes you can get the alerts in any audio file you wish instead of the athan sound. (In the meeting etc.)
* With the Voice alert mode (WAV) the athan is only read in the morning and the other times are alerted with a voice warning.
* There is a feature on the main window to quickly change the settings.

no english language? so pity

There is English version...
Until version 2.6, there is English support.
Now it is in version 2.7 and it is really good.
But sometimes I have some problems with some ROMs, it does not run.
For example, in PhamQuang's ROMs, unfortunately it does not run.

A new Beta 2.8.1 Stabil version is ready for you,
What is new:
GPSspot software is working very special for VakitlerPDA, Thank you for the GPSSpot developer Maik to share his project to us.
GPSSpot is running by using the GPS menu from VakitlerPDA main menu,
GPSSpot is a GPS compass and always showing the Mecca/Qibla direction where ever you are. Next version there will be Qabe picture into the compass as well.
Google Map support added for Qibla. This is working with GPS and without GPS.
If you have a GPS then it looks for the valid GIS info and gets your satelite picture with the Qibla direction in red.
If you do not have a GPS than do not worry. There was also manuel GIS info section for the timeframe praying calculation, now this module is updated. Just clicking on the Qibla angle you will directly see your google map and Qibla as well.
(Since googlemap maps are receiving over the internet, this may be priced by your GSM provider price list if you use GSM/GPRS. But Wi-Fi may be free of charge for you to see your Qibla as well.)
Prerequest For Beta Version:
(Since this is not a cab file, This is just a .zip file needed to extract to the software working path for patching into new stabil beta version)
If you never setup before then you need to Full setup first,
From this setup file
Download setup file for the first time and start the file over your PDA.
If you have already installed VakitlerPDA then you just need to the following steps;
1. download this .zip file and then extract,
2. Directly just copy the files where you installed the setup files

How to add city/country?

JAZAK ALLAH KHARAN bro

We tried to add most of the countries and cities into the list for the beginning,
If there was not your country in the list then
you may inform us what country/city you are living in and we can add your country in the next version.
But normally you can check your address from http://vakitler.net address then add it manually to the gps calculation area in the software then software calculates it exactly your address even if you have not a gps device. This works manually calculation method by using the gps GIS info.

Hi,
great application, many thanks.

Great app. I reside in the US, so I'll be waiting for North American support. I'll be following this app. Maybe you should put version numbers next to your release title, so people know how far it's coming along. Just a suggestion.
Thanks
I've updated the first post with details on the new version of Flix, 1.0.7.0
Please let me know of any problems you find!
I've only done a little testing of Spain and Italy - I noticed with Spain especially that it often didn't seem to find much for a given town. If you encounter this, please visit the Spain Yahoo site http://es.movies.yahoo.com/ and try the same location as you put in Flix - if you get the same result, then Flix is not broken
If anyone would like to improve the translations, then please pm me.
Next up will be support for the US/Canada hopefully. That will be version 1.0.8.0.
In addition will be some interface changes users have requested, but these may wait for 1.0.9.0, depending on how long the new country support takes me!
I've also only played with multiple locations a little - but they should work as it basically calls the same routines for each location specified.
Split multiple locations using a semi-colon ( without any spaces.
Thanks for all the comments (good and bad) so far!
I'm starting to look at adding US/Canada to Flix.
The Yahoo Movies site for those areas is significantly different to the European based ones, and one thing I've found so far is the sheer volume of information, and I thought I'd ask here what you guys feel is the way ahead...
Being from the UK, I naturally popped '90210' into Yahoo to get some results up.
This returns 119 cinemas spread across 12 pages, and that's only showtimes for the current day, not the coming week as per the Euro site. So, pulling all this data out would be pretty slow and memory hungry in all likeliness.
So, i'm thinking of maybe downloading just the first page results, but for all coming days; however I don't know the relevance of the results. Can anyone offer some information on how the cinema list is related to the zip? Is the first result the closest and they slowly move "outwards" in distance? In which case it's perhaps ok to stick to the first page... or are they in a pretty random order? If the latter, then a lot of people might find that their usual theater doesn't come up...
I'm aware 90210 is probably a pretty extreme example, but i'm curious as to some pointers on how the data coming back is relevant...
any further developments... It does work well as is.. but was hoping you may be inspired to develop further
I'll shortly be releasing support for US and Canada - it's about done. Also in that version will be an 'update' command line switch so that the download can be scheduled once a week automatically (using something like CTScheduler Lite or RunEveryday.
After that, I'd like to spruce up the interface for the next version, but if there's something specific you're looking for, let me know and I'll see if it can be added.
Flix has just been updated - see the first post
Main new feature is the addition of support for the US and Canada, but existing users may also find the "update" command line switch useful. If Flix is started with this switch, it will run, update, then quit. Schedule it overnight once a week and you won't have to manually update again!
There have also been a few under the skin improvements, mainly in the parsing of information.
For more advanced users, you can pre-ignore cinemas before updating for the first time, rather than updating and then ignoring them. This option is on the manage cinemas screen (just click "New" at the bottom). You'll need the ID number from the URL of your cinema to be ignored, so head off to Yahoo to find it.
As ever - if Flix doesn't find cinemas you expect, please visit the Yahoo movies site for your country and enter the same location to check what comes up.
Hi,
Good job but I have a problem :
Hi,
At what point did the error come up? Could you also see if there is extra information on the detail button?
Thanks!
I have this error when I want update ...
I have WinMo 6.5 ...
The details :
Thanks - can you let me know what location you used so I can debug the code? Thank you
My location is :
France
62800
If I replace 62800 by the city ( Liévin ), it find Troyes :s
OK, that is good you fixed it, although the error should still not show up. If it cannot find anything for the postal code, you should get a friendly message, so I will still check this and fix it
I edit my post :s
Because, I see if i bit "Liévin", it find "Troyes"
I think, it bug when the cinema name have a "é"
Because, in Lyon and Lievin, the cinema name is : " Pathé "
Sorry for my english :s
OK, I can check that the ' above the e doesn't cause a problem.
However I checked the locations you gave me on fr.movies.yahoo.com and neither Liévin or 62800 show anything for me, so I don't think Flix would show anything either.
EDIT: OK, the error you got was because Yahoo have changed the message that is shown when no cinema found. Flix didn't see this so still tried to process the data. A new version will be uploaded soon

[App] Marathon - GPS measure / tracking software

Latest version: 1.3.1.5.
Changelog
Information
Marathon is a Windows Mobile application which keeps track of your movement with the help of a GPS-receiver. It’s the perfect companion for sporting activates such as running and bicycling. You can configure Marathon to announce various statistics in the headset or speaker while you’re recording. This gives you the advantage of always knowing your performance and is a great morale boost to reach your goals. You can compete with yourself by setting the goal time comparison settings to one of your previous results. This will allow the announcements to tell you exactly how many seconds ahead or behind you are. You may also use the generic time goal in case you haven’t recorded anything to compete against. The application records and displays data such as time, distance, speed and your altitude change. You can also choose to display your speed and altitude as bar or line charts, as well as showing a map of your recording. As a complement to the application, Marathon is compatible with a free online service, which allows you to see more detailed information about your performance. You can view your result on a map as well as see various rankings against other users of the service.

Hello!
would this run on my diamond (640 x 480)?
+1 for google earth - support!
A few questions:
1. Will this work on a VGA, e.g., a Fuze?
2. Does it track in miles or just kms?
3. Will it work for cycling, e.g., mph, not just mins/mile?
I currently use GPSCycleComputer because it works for both running and cycling, but this app has some nice new features.
seriously guys, are you even reading the first post?

I haven’t tried it on a bike, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work since it works with walking, running and cars. You can also select different methods, such as “Run”, “Bike” and “Ski” when you save your result to keep track of your travel method.
I've implemented the following units, you can change between them using "Menu->Settings->Unit":
km/h
m/s
mph
min/km
I'll add more if someone find it usefull. Would min / mile be of any use?
I would love you to add minutes per mile as that is the standard measure for running speed, so it would be useful for running.
Thanks.
Very well done!
Hi Ooije,
I did a first test of your app and I'm very impressed about it's features and how well it works for the very first beta! On my Touch Pro, it did find my current position very fast and the distance measured is exactly what www.gpsies.com tells me about it. Uploading to your homepage also worked well and is such easy to do. Congratulations and thank you very much!
Of course although it is already very functional, there are some feature requests:
- I did not dare to switch off the device at my first test, because I did not want the GPS receiver being stopped and used S2U2 as screen lock. Having an option to switch off the display and locking the device (as in GPSCycleComputer) would be a great thing.
- Having an option for specifying the GPS settings would be fine. On the Touch Pro it connects to the intermediate driver directly and works well, but actually I'd like to have it connected to GPSGate on another Port.
- For the running pace (min/km), it shows seconds as percent of minutes. Having it as mm:ss (that is 7:54 instead of 7,9) would be appreciated. BTW:

Here in Europe it is min/km, which is already implemented... ;-)
- I didn't try that audio feature yet (BTW: Do you use earphones?), but I'm thinking that it could also be useful if you're on an unknown route to have some very basic navigation features. That is, importing a route (on www.gpsies.com there are a lot of it) and at least being told if you're leaving that route. For more information you can have a look on your display then, which might show the planned vs. the actual route.
- I'm interested in having a plot "pace over time". I'm not quite sure whether GPS data are such accurate (especially these qualcomm receivers), but maybe there can be done some filtering in order to have good results.
- and of course exporting the track as GPX, KML or whatever (hey, there is GPSBabel to translate it ;-) ) would be great
Last but not least, there is a small flaw having +infity as speed after loading or saving a track - maybe it's currently there for debugging purposes (see screenshot attached)
Cheers

I would love you to add minutes per mile as that is the standard measure for running speed, so it would be useful for running.
Thanks.

Alright, if that’s what you use in US I’ll put it on top of my TODO-list. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Ooije,
I did a first test of your app and I'm very impressed about it's features and how well it works for the very first beta!
BTW:

You should be able to switch of the device since it keeps the GPS receiver and sound devices running (unless you mixed with the power options). But I guess that could be useful in combination with the ability to read from a NMEA-data directly from a COM port. Unfortunately this is not my highest priority right now, but I might look into it.
Showing pace as m:ss instead of a decimal number might be handy. If that’s what people expect when using the min/km unit I’ll definitely change. What would the expected audio announcement be for such a metric? “three point forty five” could mean either 3.45 (as a decimal number) or 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
The audio feature works with both speaker and headset, but if you’re listening to music at the same time you probably don’t want 100% volume in your music player.
Import/Export seems to be a requested feature, so I’ll look in to a few formats and see which fits best. Announcing when you’re too far away from the expected route is a great idea. I’ll put that on my TODO-list.
There are bar charts (5, 10, 15 or 25 bars) as well as a linear diagram built-in to plot the speed. Just select “Menu->View->Speed” and “Menu->Settings->Diagram Type->…” to view them. The diagram is not inverted when min/km is the selected unit, but that shouldn’t take so long to implement.
Since your speed is 0 m/s it will take you infinitive time to move 1 km, so it’s kind of correct . But I guess I’ll replace it with a ∞ (infinitive symbol) to make it look better and less confusing.
Thank you for all your feedback; it’ll definitely help me improve the application. A translation would be nice, but I think it’s best to wait until I have a more stable set of localized strings in the application. It’s hard to keep the English / Swedish translations in sync even when im translating between them myself. So I’ll keep in touch.
Looks great and though i do now own a pocket pc anymore it would be
awesome if you could contact me. I am the head of the urban sports

Not working at all
Hello, this is my feedback:
though the program starts ok (I can see the main interface Window) the GPS is always in "starting..." but never starts...
I tried to start first Tomtom navigator, gps starts, close tomtom and start Marathon but... no way.... "starting gps..."
I see no options to configure it...
My phone is a Windows Mobile 6.0, QVGA resolution, HTC clone (amsam M810)
Thanks.
Test with a Touch HD
First start I got no GPS conection. After softreset, I got the GPS lock after a couple of secods. Then I started for a test run which was fine on the fiorst Minutes with havin a short voice anouncement every Minute. after 5 Minutes the system stopped talking to me and after 25 Minutes the SW stopped completly. So I will wait for the next version to give it a next test. so far the SW is already on a good way, but also not very reliable.
I released a minor update today. Here are the news in beta 1.0.0.2:
Fixed a bug with the start button when the GPS-device was started before the application.
Added support for minutes / mile.
A few other small fixes.
I've also updated the website with Google maps integration, some rankings based on distance and the ability to filter by transport method.

That's strange, I've had the application running over a night without any problems (indoors, so no GPS signal in that test). Did you turn the display of or kept it on all the time?

The latest release fixes a bug when the GPS was started before the application starts, but I don't think this is the issue in your case. Is your GPS set to be managed by WinMo automatically (Settings->System->External GPS->Access->Manage gps automatically )?. Marathon uses Microsoft GPS intermediate driver, so the OS has to manage the GPS.
I've bought a Bluetooth GPS to play around with, so hopefully it will help me increase the compability with different kind of hardware. By the way, how is your GPS set up in TomTom?
Thanks for the feedback (both of you). It's very valuable since it's kinda hard to fix problems without knowing of there existence .
Cool, just downloading it now.
Any chance you can integrate ApptoDate so that updates are added automatically? Thanks
Regards

I tested the system first with switching to standby (and it does not talk to me) after that I just shut of the screen and then it was talking to me for a couple of Minutes and after 25 Minutes it failed completly. I will download the new version and give it a try on my next run tomorrow.
I will post the result.

Hello,
I just downloaded and installed.
Also tested outdoors and jogging
I started Marathon but no way. (waited 10 mins, enough right?) GPS status was always "starting..."
Then I started GPS device from 2 other apps. It did.
Both apps worked and located me in the World.... then closed and opened Marathon
Does not work.
Answering your questions:
yes, GPS is managed by the OS. Option is checked in Settings->System->External GPS->Access
GPS config is: COM1 Baud 9600
ps: what is missed in your software (I think) is the GPS config.
Other software have it.
Thanks a lot.

I assume you haven't changed the settings in "Menu->Settings->Power Management" (at least the first two checkboxes should be checked) and installed the application on your device and not on a memory card? I would really appreciate if you could change the logging level to verbose ( Menu->Settings->Diagnostic Logging), record for a minute or two and then send me the log file in /Program Files/Marathon/Logs so I could investigate further.

Thanks for the screenshots. The wrong skin is loaded since your bottom bar is 10 pixels higher than the one built into WM. I'll improve the skin loading algorithm a bit so the correct skin will be loaded. Where can I get hold of the bottom bar you're using so I can make sure it works correctly before releasing an update?

The "Starting GPS Device..." should take less than a second, it says "No Signal" when there is no GPS fix. So the problem is that the GPS device isn't detected at all. Do you usually have to configure applications before using your device or do other software detect your GPS automatically? Currently Marathon uses the GPS intermediate driver which is supposed to increase the abstraction level so I don't have to parse the NMEA strings from the COM-port, but I guess I have to take a look at other alternatives.
Thanks for all the info!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I download songs to my phone?
A. No. This is not something Grooveshark allows you to do, and it won't be something Groovefish will allow you to do. It would constitute piracy after all.
Q. How can I help?
A. At the moment, I want a good solid base on which to build up the rest of the features. If you encounter a problem whilst using Groovefish, please post the details - including how to reproduce it if possible - in this topic. If the problem is non-fatal (i.e. the application doesn't crash) then please check the Debug Log (Options > View Debug Log) and post any relevant information from there.
You can also help by using the Grooveshark service. I'm not sure how they will react to this app, but I'd like to think they can coexist symbiotically since I'm promoting their service. You can support the host of the download by visiting the 1800PocketPC.com website who are kindly hosting and promoting the app for me.
Finally, of course you can DONATE to help encourage further development, more features, etc.

The first release has been uploaded to the second post! I've tested this on my Xperia and it seems to be relatively stable. That said, I've not done much testing!
The user interface is admitted not very good. I've not spent much time on it, I was more focused on getting a moderately stable first release out there to see how it runs on different devices and at different resolutions.
Next up, I'm going to start designing the 'proper' interface and start adding some basic features that are missing. I have big plans for this!
Hope you like! All feedback welcome.
Seems stable enough for me at the moment. I'm testing on a Ipaq hx2795 qvga. I did have it crash when it tried to get the album art. Keep up the good work!

Actually, as it turns out the 'rare' crash would -always- happen when there was no artwork for a song. This was due to me writing a clever bit of code with loaded the default artwork from the installation directory rather than downloading it. As it turns out, this clever bit of code didn't work since it used an unsupported .NET method. Opps!
I've taken this out for now, so it should work for all songs apart from the odd network-related crash! See post 2 for an updated CAB.
looking good, i like ur UI more than nilson, more finger friendly...
looking good so far.....thanks
looking great as of 2a, works w/o issue on the Touch Pro (CDMA).
I can't wait to see where this goes...
I'd like to hear some more feedback from others if possible! Any crashes, freezes, etc. I seem to be using a pretty unstable 6.5 ROM at the moment so I don't know whether to attribute the (few) UI freezes to the ROM or to my application. I suspect the former, but it'd be nice to get some form of confirmation.
'Version 1' is coming along nicely by the way - I've write ALL of the UI from scratch and I'm about to rewrite the comms with more speed and greater stability in mind. I'll try to get another release out this week - and it should prove to be a huge improvement...
Fingers crossed!
hehe, no one complaining = app is working fine, right?
Anyways here's my feedback - tested on Touch HD with PDAViet's V63 WM6.5 build 23053.
Issues/bugs
* Playback stops (eventually) when screen is turned off, and resumes only when screen is on again. Already checked that the I wasn't in suspend mode, and used Power Options to perform the screen off. Doesn't matter if using headphones or external speaker, same results.
Suggestions
* Ability to add songs to a playlist, and play only songs in the playlist (like the main Grooveshark website)
Other than that, everything works as expected (with one song anyways ) Will test more....
Look forward to V1!

Just to clarify, the issue occurs *after* I switched off S2U2 completely before using Groovefish, because I know the "Don't Suspend Power" setting is Off by default and even when switch On, still seems to stop HSDPA connections sometimes.
Ok, did a little more testing, found some more issues:
* After pressing play in a song, pressing the back button seems to wipe the search results list
* Buffering seems to fail for certain songs, eg. "Bee Gees" => Staying Alive - I get a .NET CF error, but can't see specific details because I don't have the mesages module installed.
Wow, I'm really excited. Now we have two guys that are both working on a great Grooveshark client. Wonderful.
Downloading now, if I find something useful to tell you about your current version, I will give you feedback asap.
PS
I think that the name of your app is brilliant!
EDIT: Ok so here are my thoughts....
One Major gripe that I have is that whenever the backlight turns off, so does the music. The same thing happens with Gooveshark Mobile.
other things:
1. when you search and then go back, it does not show the previous search results. I'm sure you were already planning to address this in the near future though.
2. There is nothing wrong with the user interface, it works great. Search is front and center.
But a reccomendation for the future that I have is to incorporate a carousel (kinda like TF3D) so that there are the following tabs: "Search" "My Music" "Recent" "Popular" "Favorites" and "People". Since those are the main menu items on listen.gooveshark.com, those screens would make most sense.
3. Obviously it would be amazing to be able to log into your account through the application. I'm sure this is already coming in the future too.
Lastly, if anyone is having problems with the application not being able to play a stream, it is Gooveshark.com's fault right now and not Sharkfish's

^^ My only gripe right now.
Also, when searching for music we should be presented with Artist/Title alone. No need to do more than Grooveshark does Then only present the rest of the information (Album/Art/Length/Genre) when the music is playing. I'm not going to decide what to listen to based on song length
With a UI as finger-friendly and attractive as nilezon's this could be fantastic!
P.S. Tested & working on Asus P565 VGA 480x640 over HSDPA
Yay! Comments!
A few responses;
I'm not sure if it's possible to keep the music playing after the screen has turned off - if there is some magical way of doing so, I'd love to know - it's certainly not something I'm doing intentionally! I can just stop the screen from turning itself off, so there is a potential fix there - just not an ideal one.
The song info page (with the genre, duration, artwork, etc) will be an optional step in-between the search results and the player. My aim is to have all major functions of the application to be one (or, at the most two) taps away (probably using something similar to skyler17's carousel idea).
The search result page will eventually show song and artist name - I went with the plain ol' ListView control for the search result just to have something done quickly, and with kinetic scrolling.
As for the stream crashing the application - the only situation I've had this is where the stream is actually missing. You can test this by doing the same search on Grooveshark and seeing if the error message pops up. I haven't yet accounted for missing streams so if it's missing - it'll crash!
Oh, and... I made an application icon this morning!
very excited for the next release, keep it up!!
It's good to hear there is still some interest... I'm still putting a lot of hours into this project, so it's nice to hear there is still some enthusiasm for it!
There should be another release some time this week, hopefully. I'll post some screenshots if I get a chance - the UI is looking very pretty now!

Oh yeah! Can't wait
The screen switching off/audio problem is by-design in WinMo. The only player to actually get around it is WMP and I have no idea how. Nitrogen keeps the screen on "dimmed" mode while the music is playing to get around it.
The only problems I've encountered in this release is the random Exceptions being thrown when trying to play certain tracks. Doesn't always happen though & usually closing/opening the app solves it.

This program looks great!
Will there be any prepackaged maps for download? For Example, Canada, New York, London, Paris, France?
Great Tool, I like it really.
But some time the PC-Tool crash. After the next crash I will post the message.
@Maedhros
I think this is not easy, because the file for a whole country with every zoom level is a fat file (many GB great).
@NaviComputer
A great feature is a map update over the Smartphone (3G, WLAN, ...), or a auto download for missing tiles.
looks finger friendly... thanks for this
crash all the time...
Unfortunately the desktop software doesn't even want to start on Windows 7 x64:-( The process starts up, but UI never shows up:-(
P.S. Be careful with Google maps, caching their maps is against user agreement. Microsoft, however, allows it to some extend (though you have to get a Virtual Earth dev. license).
Very nice job, thanks for the hard work!
Hi,
here idea for a new feature.
A merge feature for the PC-Tool. So it is easy to download some segments and merge to one layer. I think this is not a great problem for the sqlite-DB that you are using as single file store, or?
Will there be any prepackaged maps for download? For Example, Canada, New York, London, Paris, France?

I have downloaded maps of several European cities such as Rome, Valencia, Hamburg, Cannes,... all about 5-10MB. I usually use zoomlevels 10-15 for cities. Anyway, downloading your own maps only takes a few minutes (if you have broadband internet connection)
But some time the PC-Tool crash. After the next crash I will post the message.

Can anybody confirm this? Unfortunatelly I don't have Windows 7 to test it.

Thanks for that hint. Should I stop offering the PC Tool for download here? What else can I do to eliminate my responsibilty?

Thanks for that idea. Indeed I will put that on my todo list. The PC Tool will need some work to be done anyway (also stability issues ...)
'NO dataplan needed'
That sounds great!
Will try.
THanks
The PC Tool isn't working on x64 Windows 7 installations. As mentioned before the process starts but somehow fails to initialize the user interface.
Thanks
Same as Terracrosser but according to the description and comments looks WAY BETTER and maybe even faster to download the maps. Good work
issues with x64 Windows 7 installations
The PC Tool isn't working on x64 Windows 7 installations. The UI never showed up and the CPU goes 100%. Otherwise the concept looks great.
I can confirm the win7 x64 problem tried running with all admin rights on and in xp and vista compatability modes. always uses 13% of my corei7 920 and about 28Meg ram.
I can also confirm the problem with Windows 7 x64 - the process starts, no program UI loads, and the navimapper process loads a single core to maximum.
A Help file will be great.
Nice looking application....
BUT..............
On my XDA orbit (QVGA wm6.1) the buttons look a little squashed... Also so few options!!!! would love to seem more, such as the ability to change coordinates to a user one or distance from Kilometers to miles and vice versa. And may be the ability to specify the gps port.
Also the pc app is a little slow and the PPC apps doesn't see the maps when downloaded and transfered to device(for me at least)
regards
Lohtse
WQVGA
Please ad support to WQVGA
Ok guys, I will try to fix this Windows 7 issue. I hope I will find the problem (without actually having Win7)

Sorry, up to now there is no QVGA support. Maybe I'll add that in future but since I do only have VGA/WVGA devices I need more people to motivate me adding QVGA
More options will definately be added. Please notice this is first release version 0.5...

I'm going to add some FAQ here... Is there anything special which would like to be explained? I thought the PPC software is pretty much self explaining, however the map download procedure needs some more explanation. What do you think?

[APP][1/21/10] Shake2Send - Bump-like app for Windows Mobile. [v1.0.1]

This project has been put on hold indefinitely. You will NOT be able to connect to the service.
Hi.
Shake2Send is an application I made that allows two devices to pair and send contacts over the air.
To pair, the two devices shake at the same time (Similar to Bump for the iPhone). No bluetooth needed!
You can send contacts, as well as files.
Pictures will be displayed automatically, and CABs will auto install.
Version 1.0.1 released!
Instructions
Download the CAB.
Install.
Enter a name (Be unique for each device!)
Press Connect, and then shake both devices at the same time (Or within ~1 second).
When paired, Press Send and select a contact or file.
Known Issues
1. File sending is slow, try not to send big files (yet.)
2. Possible connection problem... still not sure on the details.
...More when I get more feedback
Changes
Latest version: 1.0.1
Better Auto connection
Bug fixes.
Better error messages
Some new artwork (not that different...)
Some internal code changes (Dynamic DNS, etc)
Better CAB File.
--0.61 Bug fix. Not an actual release.
0.6 Changes:
-Bug fixes, including the sending error.
-Some UI fixes and improvements
-Instructions picture
-File sending!
-Support for displaying pictures, and for auto-installing CABs.
Upcoming Features
1. Advanced options
2. Better looking UI
3. Auto-connect

Notes
1. You CAN use this app on non-gsensor devices. You will need to press Pair instead, and uncheck Use G-Sensor on the connect screen.
2. You will need .NET Compact Framework 3.5 in order to use this app.
3. If you want to host a private server for yourself (or prehaps a group of people), you still can download the server here:
http://windowsphonehacker.jaxbot.com/files/shake2send_server.php
But you will not receive automatic updates.
Download
Version 1.0.1 CAB: http://windowsphonehacker.com/shake2send/
Enjoy, and give me feedback!

very cool
downloaded the .cab. only problem- none of my friends have have smartphones. so when i get to test i will let you know. watched your video though- very cool.
thanks for your hard work.
I am guessing both the device has to be on the same WiFi .. is that true ?
UPDATE : Guess not, if using the public server
Another Question : How will the app handle if there are 2 different people with the same name using the public server @ the same time ?
Great stuff none the less have given it some press on 1800PocketPC

If you WANT (paranoid I suppose), you can connect to a private server, but otherwise, the public server runs fine.
If there are two people with the same name on the public server at the same time... Hm, I actually think this might cause an issue, because the names are important in identifying devices. I'll have the server make sure no one chooses a taken name and patch it on my end
Thanks for the listing!
Duplicate names should be fixed now!
The server simply changes the internal name of a conflicting client and adds a _1 to it.
The "Me" label will display the same name (until next build), but when pairing it will include the _1.
All the technical stuff aside, the problem is fixed serverside.
New Version Soon!
Almost done with Photo/file sending, but before I release the new version, I need some more feedback.
You can probably expect it sometime next week
does everyone find this cool app to work easily or are you guys having some issues?? My question is how do you exactly go about using this properly when say you wanna share a contact with someone thats isnt near you and say there at there house and your at yours?? please a little help would be greatly appreciated!!! I'm really excited about this app and the possibilities it posses like sharing photos and files etc!!!!! great work keep it up as im sure with time itll look better an better!!!! WM FOREVER!!

so after installing this on 2 phones and testing, here is what I have encountered.
- the application does not save the username/devicename that you give within the application when signing into the server. Would be awesome to have it auto-connect to your server and save the username/device name
- on first try, works exactly as expected
- on second try, when sending a contact from phone 1 to phone 2, if phone 2 IGNORES the contact, and subsequent contact sent from phone 1 to phone 2 comes across as that initial contact that was ignored. (basically, if you send the wrong contact, and phone 2 ignores it, you cannot send any other contacts to that phone, otherwise it comes across as that initial ignored contact
Best of luck, hope this all helps!!

About the device names, I'm thinking about something along that line, as well as allowing users to manually pair with another user, by entering their name (For long distance transfer).
About that contact thing, strange. I'll look into it and hopefully put it in the next release (which will be soon )
Edit: found the problem. What's really happening is, after you send a contact, the dialog is still returning the same contact (Instead of the selected one). So this bug should happen even if you accept the contact, right?
very good, possible a german version ???

I don't speak German, so I can't translate it (without Google Translate, which would probably translate poorly), but if someone wants to translate for me, I'll be happy to make a build.
If someone's interested, PM me and I'll send you the strings that need translating.
Also, the English app should work overseas, if I'm not mistaken.
0.6 Released! See first thread for download and details.
I can help you to translate, if is possible

Glad to hear that you released a new version, I've already installed it lol and also that it's got improvements but when you said to be careful about what size cabs to send to each other or it'll crash what size is allowed and in the future will there be a no size limit b/c that would be the right approach KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND TY FOR THIS APP!! Question though, so now w/this latest version we can send stuff to other people that are at far distances and it'll work just fine?? And if so do we have to use it with the server on our PC'S to do so or is it easier to do then that if say were not at our houses???

About the file size: The current limit is 10mb. I probably won't set it any higher, because when the file limit is 10mb, the application is literally taking up 10mb of RAM, which is a lot for a handheld device.
You will not need the private server, unless you do not want a third party server handling connections (The server does not store anything, not even connection logs), but some people are paranoid, which is fine.
To send far distances, just click Pair->Manual Pair, and enter your friends username. Then have you friend do the same, but for you username. The two devices will pair OTA and allow file/contact sending.

Thank You so much for getting back to me, your awesome lol...and Thank You very much for the info/instructions!!! I've already told many people about this app. and posted about it numerous times on twitter!!!
Is there anything your looking to add to this app in the future feature wise? when will it be finalized as a final version? Also when we enter a user name will it stick or do we have to always re-enter it every time we use the app?

If people have suggestions, I'll look into adding them, but for now, bug fixes and improvements are the main concern.
The user name you choose is not permenent, which is why it is random each time. It's just a useful identifier, that at one point will probably be 100% automatic and simply tell the user his/her ID.
