Default Prophet ringing tone goes silent after certain numbers of dialing
I wonder if anyone notice the problem exist eversince WM6 ROM. I have tried many version of WM6, WM6.1 and now WM6.5, they are all having the same problem
After making certain calls using the keypad, the ringing tone disappear (incoming call ringing tone and the keypad tone all disappear)
Second incident is that when I'm on the call and caller waiting is activated (second person trying to call me) the phone will also go total silent from there on.
The solution is to turn off the phone and restart.
After the phone restart, the ringing tone & dialer keytone work fine. After few dialings the fault happen again.
Does anyone has the solution?

What Rom are you using ?
Have you installed a dialler cab file yourself ?
or any other cabs to do with tones ie.. reminders or different tones for different callers ?
This seems like a problem specific to yourself as no one else has complained of this problem ,So i am thinking it's something you install your self that would also explain why you have the problem on several roms

i have same problem with my i mate jamin , only offical rom works fine, when i upgraded to cooked wm6.1 also wm6.5 i am facing same problem , nothing extra installed on that , if i put phone for long standby fone becomes silent , what is soul plz,
changed all radio versions also but same

Nothing extra added to all the WM6.x ROM that I have tried but yet the problem remains.
Perhaps you didn't dial as much number as I do, that's why you haven't experienced that.
In fact there were other threads discussing the same problem but no ones seems to have the right answer.
Im having same problem too, totally silent. It happen when use keypad to find/dail contacts, few click heard sound, then totally silent. I tried install/remove dailpad but the problem still exists, tried off keypad sound, changing ROM yet the problem remains.
I did install a ROM (Dont remember which one and when) and the problem happens everyday until I need to change to other ROM.
Maybe someone could come out with solution.... Anyone?

Perhaps you might not read the post carefully, we are saying of all the WM6.0, WM6.1 & WM6.5 ROM that we have tried have similar problem.
If you haven't experienced them, perhaps the best way to learn is to install the latest build -WM6.5 Build 23001 - 23016 WWE bikertibi edition at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532122

Yes i have read but this problem only exists in the latest builds of 6.5 and by the way i built some of those ROMs so your suggestion is out the window
I stopped building and releasing after 23004 because i was noticing to many bugs the only way to stop this with these latest builds is to change the way we cook the ROMs there is no fix. The files that are causing the problems are in the wrong partition so they can't be read when called on by the kernel of the OS (Like they don't exist)
This is why all the builds after 21100 have problems

Have you tried it? Does it work?
I don't quite like the idea because by enabling the keypad sound that's how I get to know whether the income call will ring or not. Because I have lost many incoming calls due to the bug, not knowing someone is calling.

Already I have commented that I do not have these problems.
Perhaps the problem is caused by your s200 model (G3). I am not an expert, but if a common problem exists: Something must exist commonly to all,,, I think,,,

After two or three hours of use each rom 6.1 that I flashed, my pda don't ring when i have call While the volume is activé on maximum. And as soon as I have a notification of sms, it is still sometimes stuck on vibrator.

When you press Keypad (in Dialpad) more than 30 times it'll get muted except vibration.
My experience to fix this: Disable Keypad tone by Start/Settings/Personal/Phone, choose Keypad/Off then SR. Done.

Hi, i have the same problem with ShadoW 2.0 TE, no sound is lost totally after a few days of operation, although after a reboot, it works fine.

Try update the Radio rom. Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.69.21 should work gine. Search the name you should find it here in XDA.

Im using the RadioRom you mentioned and still get the same problem when press keypad in dialpad more than 30 times. Any1 try my way yet? Hav it fixed ur problem?
this dialpad bug has been in all wm6 and now in wm6.1 roms

Hey everyone....for some strange reason, whenver i get a call or text message the ringer or notification stays on even when im the call. I noticed this in some of the later DCD 2.2.x roms. IS anyone else having this problem or know how to fix this...any help is greatly aprpeciated

I noticed this as well just upgraded yesterday using the newest sprint, then puting in a cooked DCD...Thanks, I love it, but the notification(vibrate) stays on and I get no sound from the speaker (media player, ringer, etc)...still searching for a solution

my problem is a little different, im getting too much sound....lol....when im on a call and i receive another call or text, i still hear the ringtone for that action and it usually repeats itself a couple times making it so that i cant hear the person im talking to on the phone. I think i read somewhere that what ur talking about maybe due to picking Lockstream DRM as an option in the kitchen....did u do that?

I didn't cook it myself, downloaded it complete. I added the registry entries I found on this board and I am closer. I still don't get a ring, bur media player now plays and the phone always vibrates when a call. It just seems a little fishy on the ringer end of things...
did you guys that cooked the rom all include the Lockstream DRM package when you built?
if so, I have some problem with the package, and leaving it out of your ROM might resolve your problem for now.

DCD, thanks for the help with the ROM and the Kitchen! I haven't cooked up anything yet but I am sure I will give it a try.
Could this be the cause of the problems I am having...I loaded Olipro 2.40, then applied the latest Sprint ROM to my Alltel phone. This gave me the newest radio 3.35.04. I then loaded your final version 2.3.2. I have the ringer issue detailed above, as well as no camera function...I am considering reloading your 2.3.2, then going with the radio 3.27. Also, what's the deal with the PRL file, do I need to change mine from 30029 to something else?

DCD, i didnt use the Lockstream DRM package. Im not sure when i noticed this....i know its happening now and when i was using that later of ur 2.2.X series....maybe its something that happens normally and im just now noticing it, but i dont remember if even the stock roms did this....am i supposed to her the ringtone and notifications when im on the phone? is that common?

I have strange problem with ALL of WM 6 & WM 6.1 that i tested here. (+10)
My Device is i-mate Jamin G4.
the problem with Sound. the sound suddenly stop and dissapeare. after reading from and search i found only 1 solution for that, I should go to Settings>Sound&Notification>Notifications and play a ringtone to get the sound back. In the case sound disappear whole system sound gone and even when somebody calls or SMS there is no sound. the above solution works in 95% of roms and if it dosent bring back the sound soft reset is needed and everything ok then.
another hint is that when press green call button and keypad appears if i press buttons for around 1 minutes whole sound system went and i should use the solution . i said that because i though it might help.
this problem with wm6 & 6.1 just forced me to use official wm5 which doesn't have this problem. this problem is not only mine as i have found on forums many have this problem.

I am currently using this 3.1, keypad tones working fine (do you mean this? ).... ( Mine is a G3)
1. Is your speaker works fine? ( like playing music...)
2. did you try a hard reset?
3. optional flash with the lazy tool,

yes, I did all steps except 3. Ill upgrade with that and inform you the results.
BTW please press around 50+ time on keypad to here keypad tones. they suddenly stop! my device is G4. I know that G3 sre better than G4 in wm6&6.1

Without having changed any configuration, or any new programs, I lost "most" sounds. No ringtones, though I could hear the other person on a call, via either of the 2 loudspeakers. I tried to play an mp3, and I got an error message from Pocket Tunes/WMP (could not play...) - and no alarm calls
I went to Notifications, but could not play any files. I got sound back by doing a soft reset and/or running pocketmax's wake up tweaks (run clock/calendar cleanups - I doubt these had anything to do with it...)
And then normal service was resumed, phew. I missed one more alarm call, and since then, all has been OK.

i'm having the same problems sometimes. it happens mainly after changing the volume via the up/down switch from off to vibrate or back to certain volume.
the solution is the same as in the first post is mentioned. go to sounds & notifications and there to incoming textmessage. play the ringtone. sometimes a second time doing that is necessary.
but as im testing many roms as well, it happens very often on wm6.1, not so often in wm6.
before i forget to mention, i own a G4 Xda Neo.
//edit: another problem i had once was after using Shadow Vista "My Edition"(wm6.1) from with the ring volume-tweak. during call i rised the volume a little bit and then suddenly my speaker stopped working. even a softreset hadnt solved that problem, then i switched often the volume and after MANY attemps i managed somehow to get it working again. i was kinda shocked

Try a different WM6.1 ROM!
i tried lots of stuff to solve this issue...no luck at all, after flushing the stupid Thai rom, i lost the sound....still trying
well, I tried almost 90% of roms here. all wm 6.1 are having this bug . I found PDAviet 4.0.0.0.6 a bit better than other, the sound bug happens less in this rom how ever it is still there.

since I moved to wm6 I was getting this bug, specialy with the sms notification.
but there was one rom which I did'nt have this problem if I kept the default rigntones. it was "Prophet_S4V.19701.01_F".
i'm flashing Prophet_S4V.19213.01_C, hoping it is that good too. altough I had the micro based on the s4v.19213 and and it was driving me crazy with this bug, I couldn't make it ring...

well i only found a temporarily solution for this problem. i disabled the keypad tones and the problem occurs each 1-2 days once but the problem is that it is still big chance of missing important Calls and SMS I hope developers found a solution for this BIG wm6 & 6.1 issue.

not 100% of prophet does the same way~~~
1. did you really manually hardreset the prophet every new rom flash?
2. any software installed will affect the performance of it?
3. will it happens same when newly rom flash?

yes, i do hard reset by pressing comm + cam + soft > send button . each rom i try i first open key pad and press 30+ on it and i sadly see sound dissapear! it looks as if prophet is not compatible with wm6!
I am now back to the wm5 and eagerly waiting to see a solution or patch from the great developers here!

i had some problem too and what I had to do is...
When ever I hold the pda, I will press the volume up button even in lock mode and if there's no any sound, that mean the sound already disappeared, I had to soft reset... I had this problem at least once in 2 days....
Hope there'll be a fix for this issue sooner...

I flashed to dcd 3.23, and it was still there.
I re-flashed the radio, and its still there.

yeah, I recently noticed it as well. It sounds like an alarm of some sort. Very annoying
omg yes it happened to me last night. That is horrible. Anyone have any idea what that could be? I am running DCD3.2.3 with 3.42.30 radio
I had that exact thing happen with the 3.42.02 radio from the official sprint rom. I recently switched to 3.42.30 and I've yet to experience it again. Infact I just tested it before I made this post. I know thats not much help since you all have the .30 radio, but just wanted to pass along my experience. I guess the only other thing I have done differently is before I updated the radio to .30 I switched from SPL 2.40 to 2.47.
Perhaps try doing a fresh install of the radio and then the rom+cab?

No way....It is a ear screeching sound that stops you mid sentence while talking. I was like "Holy S***t, One second please my phone is acting up" to a customer I was talking with.
i just get this weird little noise in the beginning of a outgoing call, and for some reason the phone app itself pops up after i close a window to an app.
i get that alarm sound too. its kinda random. sometimes on BT it sounds fine. but its not the radio its the rom i think. i never had the issue when i was on 3.0.4 and 3.42.30

I'm using dcd's kitchen, no OEMs added, just enterprise, entertainment, vc, and everything else as defaults.
I'm on alltel, I do use activesync with exchange, spb pocketplus, google maps, livesearch, htc gps viewer, and wififofun2.

It's not the custom dialer that is doing this, because the custom dialer is just a skin (images) .
It's the Vouge Dialer found in the kitchen.
I cooked the Vouge dialer and got that annoying sound when ever I have call waiting.
I did not use the kitchen just the dcd rom 3.2.3 and radio 3.42.30...It is really getting annoying now.. anyone have any ideas?
I have the call waiting problem too. I first hear the regular call waiting sound followed by about five loud beeps that sound like someone keeps pressing a button on the other end.

Not every custom dialer is just a skin with images.
My thoughts
If you happen to own an old phone with caller ID that doesn't support call waiting/caller id, then you will hear a very similar sound. I believe that loud noise is actually the caller ID info being sent, on a standard pots phone it's only sent once, but it's possible that cells send multiple bursts in case the phone misses one of them.
Then again, I, who know nothing, is just giving my 2 cents on this.

True. But I was referring to the custom dialer he is using. Because I helped create it.
The S2A dialer used by most chefs in WM6.5 ROMs has a major problem. If the phone is in standby, and a call is received, the phone cannot be answered, either with the slider or with the hardware button. I have experienced this with both Shep's ROMs and EnergyROM 3.0 with 100% consistency, and have had to call people back almost every time I receive a call.
I've seen several posts here and elsewhere about others experiencing this as well. In fact, in relation to the posts here... for some reason, the moderators determine that the problem is not "ROM-related" and that the threads should be frozen or deleted, or moved to specific ROM threads. I don't think that this is the best way to handle this, especially considering that nearly all chefs are using this dialer and none seem to mention this common issue in their release notes. This is not ROM-specific! It is a problem with the S2A dialer used by nearly all chefs alongside WM6.5.
Currently the only workaround I can find is to hit the power button twice before attempting to answer the call (since the call itself doesn't seem to completely wake the phone up), or to skip S2A altogether and use the Windows dialer.
Yes, i noticed this too, only for my phone it seems to take a bit more time to wake up (so it is possible to answer). I'd use the MS dialer, only I hate the look of it when phone is on and i receive a call... It only shows a notification or something... Maybe somebody can find a registry tweak or something.
I have tried Shep's rom and currently using NRG's rom. I have not had this issues with either. I have not seen others have this problem posted in their respective thread, which is probably why this is not something they would post as known problem. The only well known issue that happens regularly is the notification showing up along side S2A, but that interfere with the ability to pick up phone calls. If you believe it is a rom issue, try posting it in the respective thread.
Just a reminder, ALWAYS perform a hard reset after you install a new rom, that very often corrects a non regular occurring issue.
AndyJ91, Currently there is no fix because HTC S2A was made for 6.1 and not 6.5, which is why until HTC makes a fix or release a new version for 6.5, there is really nothing much the chefs can do.
Not sure I understand the issue. I am using Energy 60109. I can answer calls when the phone has been idle for hours. Perhaps you should define "Standby". By that do you mean that you briefly press the power button to turn the display off? Or is there more to "Standby"?
If that is the case, it works fine for me every time. Maybe you have some other program that is causing problems. Try a hard reset and test it before you make any customizations or load any software. Sort of a "factory fresh" test.

i didn't notice this problem either when i was running NRG 3....noticed other problems so i switched back to 2, but the S2A was working fine. YOu could always lengthen the ring time on your calls so you don't miss them..
I also experience the same problem . . . The phone rings . . . I slide to answer . . . I say, "hello . . . hello . . . anyone there? . . . hello . . ." for the next 15 seconds. Occassionally, I'll actually connect to whoever has called. Most of the time they are sent to voicemail and I have to redial them.
I'm at the point where I want to chuck my phone down a sewer because of S2A. Is there a way to disable it? I'm using EnergyROM 3.0, 6/01/09 version.

You can always disable the dialer and use the MS dialer, but the keys are so tiny it is difficult to use ...unless you put your finger in the pencil sharpener.
A less painful solution may be to simply install another dialer on top of the current one. Search for the Diamond Dialer of the original ATT dialer and try one of those.

This issue has been discussed at length in other threads.
The default HTC dialer is incompatible with the wm6.5 lock screen, leading to issues including the send and end keys being unresponsive.
To disable the HTC dialer use Advanced Config, first option under phone section. This will restore the ms dialer which works just fine.
If you dont like the stock dialer some people have had success with 3rd party ones, but bear in mind that these have not been designed for 6.5 either, so you may see other issues.
I had this same problem on 6.1 with NATF and Arrup's ROMs.

Its from the Tachi, which came with a 6.5 ROM. I honestly don't know how well it works from Standby, but it couldn't hurt to try, I'm sure.

The tachi dialer works well while in standby, somehow it unlocks the phone first..then you use the S2A. Give a try. I use EnergyROM as well.
