Seeing psShutXP did not work on my Topaz ( HTC Touch Diamond2 ) I created a new software for HTC devices to easily soft reset, shut down, turn off backlight and put the device into standby mode all from one little application written in native C++
A high priority was to use only "safe" functions, which will not harm the device. The shutdown method for one is the same HTC uses. On all newer HTC devices the shut down will be executed without the "Yes/No" prompting.

The functions:
SoftReset will soft reset (warm boot) the device using a safe method advised by msdn (microsoft developer network). There are quite a few ways to soft reset a device actually and some of them are said to be unsafe (like KernelIO method). This function will work on all Windows devices since PPC 2003 incl. WM5 and WM6
Shutdown will shut down the device using the same (HTC) method as if you'd press and hold the power on/off button for longer. On all HTC devices since the "Kaiser" the "Yes/No" dialog will be skipped and the device is shut down instantly. It will not work on non-HTC devices (will do no harm either however).
Standby will suspend the device using the same method as if you'd press and hold the power on/off button shortly. PowerOptions will exit afterwards. This function will work on all Windows devices since PPC 2003 incl. WM5 and WM6
Dim Light will turn off the backlight. PowerOptions will minimize but stay on the task list for you to switch back to full light more easily. This function will work on all HTC devices since PPC 2003 incl. WM5 and WM6- Other devices are unsure. It may or may not work (will do no harm either however).
Screen off will completely turn off the screen while WIFI, bluetooth, music etc. will still run.
.
Standalone versions (These are not required for PowerOptions to work, but intended for people that want 1-click access to soft reset or shut down their devices)
MySoftReset - Download and install MySoftReset.CAB or MySoftReset_No_Warning.CAB. The "No Warning" version will not ask a safety Yes/No question if you want to reboot or not.
MyShutdown - Download and install MyShutdown.CAB or MyShutdown_No_Warning_v1.1.CAB. The "No Warning" version will not ask a safety Yes/No question if you want to shut down the device or not. The "No Warning" version will work on all HTC devices since the "Kaiser", including all newer models like Topaz & Rhodium.
MySuspend - Download and install MySuspend_v1.1.CAB.
I would advise everyone to rather install the regular versions (MySoftReset.CAB and MyShutdown.CAB) instead of the "No Warning" ones, in case of accidental misclicks.
Please mention which device and ROM version you are using, when giving feedback. Thank you.
Visit my Blog if you like, it's in german however.

FAQ
1. How can I set the long or short press power button trigger to start PowerOptions ?
See this post
2. I don't have a HTC device and Shutdown doesn't work, anything I can do?
Contact me via private mail - maybe we can work something out
3. Can I add any/all of the programs in this post to my own ROM ?
Yes, feel free to do so. Just give me credit by mentioning my website
4. I want to install the new version, do I have to uninstall the old first?
You can just install it over the old one, the new installation will uninstall the old one. You may uninstall it manually yourself too however, it doesn't matter which way.
5. Are you going to make this a skinnable app?
Will look into it, no ETA yet.
6. Are you going to add a timer to reboot the device at certain times?
Looking for best practice ways right now.

App works great. Probably going to install the standalone ones and use with the Anx1 Action Screen.
Thanks!

Standalone still has prompts. I like the idea of this app... probably just need to wait to the weekend so I can have a good play with it.

I assume you mean MyShutdown_No_Warning.CAB still has prompts for you? Which device are you running this on and which ROM?
No prompting should work for all HTC devices with MySoftReset_No_Warning.CAB, but with shut down it will most likely only work on WVGA devices.
I can probably make it work on other devices, but would need some help from people with other devices.
Thanks
Hi:
Can be possible make standalone versions for standby and screen off buttons?.
Thanks.

TYVM!
To map the application to the long press power button trigger just copy PowerOptions.lnk from \Windows\Start Menu to \Windows folder and rename it to Long_Power.lnk.
And you guessed it, to map the application to the short press power button trigger just copy PowerOptions.lnk from \Windows\Start Menu to \Windows folder and rename it to Short_Power.lnk
To map any of the standalone versions to the short/long press power button trigger use their .lnk files and copy/rename them accordingly.

Hi, what is the purpose of the squared x in the top right in your screenshot?
Is that the "Start button" for your app? No conflicts with task manager Showcase?

I'm using WksTask as a replacement task manager on the device I used for the screenshot, that's where it comes from. There are no conflicts with HTCs task manager.
Works great on my TP2! Thanks for this little great piece of software! If you add the possibility for skinning, it would be perfect!

Hmm, can you elaborate please? How do you suspend, when your screen is locked in the first place? I don't quite get it, sorry
Usually the screen is locked by PocketShield, when I turn on the screen after standby.
If I use your application for standby-mode, then - after waking up the device - the screen is not locked. Seems that your app prevents the lock of pocketshield?

I wanted to make a flashlight in flash for some time now... The idea to use the pocket as a light is very useful and sometimes even necessary, either not to wake up someone, see in some dark stairs, getting late to the movies, etc etc...
But since in reality its just a blank image on the screen, I never worried about it, all I needed was a lighter theme on the today to use it as a light for most cases.
Recently I "saw the light" with this great example, that has many more practical uses:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=456908
The software on the link above shows a application that uses the camera flash on WM machines, but most Pocket PC's don't have that hardware.
So I though of making something similar, but only for the screen, for all those that don't have a camera flash, but have Adobe flash! ^_
The idea of this software is not only a quick flashlight (that you can have on a hardware key or icon, so that you have an easy access), but also many other uses.
So I made a semi-hidden touchscreen menu that gives access to all these light applications:
- LAMP, a simple white screen.
- Strobe, to call for attention (or hypnotize someone _o).
- Fader, with fade-in/fade-out light, like a lighthouse.
- SOS, that spells s.o.s in morse code.
- Disco, random bright colorful lights, like a disco.
- PEN, in which you can draw temporary light forms.
- Starlight animation (heavy on CPU).
- LOVELYGHT, just a visual test, also good for the loved ones.
- LIGHTER , for fun on a concert, as you can see on the picture.
- Match, pretty much like lighter.
- Candle, pretty much like match, with a twist.
- Eye of mordor, for geeks like me.
- LightSaber with sounds. Press top, middle or bottom of the screen for diferent effects, or use your keypad.
- Android boot animation
- Knight rider fade.
- Evil eyes on the dark.
- Firefly, click for interaction.
- Bicycle light, click to brake.
- Customize, only for some models that dont light up on the opening, still with bugs.
- Exit, obviously to leave the application, you can also use the ENTER (in the middle of the keypad) at any moment.
To use:
As you enter the app, it places you pocket's screen on full bright mode and removes any fade-out and stand-by option. As you exit it restores your previous settings.
If you click on the screen while on the LAMP area, it changes between 8 colors.
If you click on the FADER screen, it changes between 5 colors.
If you click on the SOS screen, it allows you to create your own morse code, just click and hold your finger on the screen for it to remain white (still with bugs), if you don't click it for a while it goes back to the automatic SOS.
To use you just need FLASH 7, place the EXE anywhere on your pocket pc and create a shortcut to the start menu (you can use Resco Explorer for that).
For non-VGA/QVGA screens:
Unfortunatly the tool I use to make the EXE files only allows qvga and vga screen sizes... If you know another SWF>EXE tool that fixes this, let me know.
New version 4:
Interactive lighter (open/close on click), with sound.
SOS interactivity works now (just need to drag the finger across the screen to make it white).
Better exit (for flash lite 3, not tested).
New version 5:
Fixed a exit sound bug
Added a "show taskbar" on exit, for those ppl having problems exiting the app.
Added android boot animation
Added star light animation (heavy on CPU).
Added LightSaber with sounds. Press top, middle or bottom of the screen for diferent effects, or use your keypad.
Was going to add a christmas music to the star light area, but it sounded corny.
---//---
Final version 7 (v6 was mainly bugfixes):
- More stuff
- New customizable regkeys values (if you need them).
- Source code released (flash 8 FLA)
Compatibility: WM5/6 (it also works on WM2003, but I dont know if it places the screen on maximum brightness)
Tested in: HTC Touch Dual
I will try it when I get home. It looks very interesting.
Thanks.

Hey everyone,
Since I couldn't find an app that did exactly what I want (let me change songs in the TouchFLO3D media player using the button on the headset that comes with the phone [not a special type of headset]), I started writing one myself. This app allows you to change what double-tapping the wired headset of the HTC Touch Pro does (an option to configure what holding the button does was going to be added, but I screwed up the plugin architecture and will need to rework it). Currently, the only option is to skip to the next song or Play/Pause the music in the TouchFLO3D player (AudioManager), but more will be available in the future. The app uses plugins, which means new options can be added rather easily
NOTE: This is a BETA release. I've only tested it on my HTC Touch Pro, and the Microsoft Device Emulator. Please tell me if you find any problems. Final version will come one day
Installation instructions:
1. Download CAB file on to your phone
2. Install CAB file (open File Explorer, find the CAB file, and click on it)
Note: It might say that you have to restart your device to apply changes... This isn't correct, it should work fine without a restart
3. Configure app (open "HTCButton" in "Programs"). Note that at the moment, only "HTC AudioManager Controller" works properly. More plugins will be available eventually.
4. Test that it's working (double-click the button on the headset) and enjoy
NOTE: This app requires the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5. Some ROMs have this already, but if you don't (you might get an error message when trying to run the app), you can download it from the Microsoft site.
Download here: http://htcbutton.googlecode.com/files/HTCButton-r8.CAB. Let me know if it works for you.
C# source code for developers (including "Hello World" plugins) is available on Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/htcbutton/. More documentation will come eventually.
I'd like to thank vijay555 for his unfinished "VJPoOf" app, which is what I based this idea off.
For anyone getting a "Could not connect to AudioManager - Cannot find AudioManager window" error, please look at this post for instructions on how to fix it. This will be fixed in the final release.

useful app, thanks for share. I did the similar one with a help of MortScript here (russian=).
When you add the second action on long press it'll be the best one
looks promising
Can't you make it able to distinguish between short & long presses like Nokia phone & if u can make it to launch a programs ??
Just the perfect tool. I've been chasing this ever since the release of my HTC Touch HD. Talk about disappointment that HTC didn't have this featue when my sony walkman (casette player - that is tape casette player for us oldies) had this feature.
So I'm impressed that someone has done this! I've been in contact with other developers (keymappers) but they couldn' figure it out. Neither could I, but I'm not a programming wiz!
I'm not complaining, but there are two issues. It's a tad slow when changing to next track... I can live with it though!
Will there be support form tripple tap? Previous song?
Again - thanks! Many times over!
Is it also possible to do this action for S2P Player? After trying all, I would say S2P is the best player for me...

I believe some older phones have a slightly different interface to AudioManager. I'll look into it soon.
For anyone that was having a problem with a "Could not connect to AudioManager - Cannot find AudioManager window" error message, please try the attached HTCAudioManagerPlugin.DLL file. Extract the DLL from the ZIP file, and then copy this file to \Program Files\HTCButton\Plugins, or \Storage Card\Program Files\HTCButton\Plugins (depending on whether you installed the app to the storage card or not), overwriting the previous version. Then try double tapping the button again and see if it works.

Thanks a lot mate, works perfectly on my Touch now. Like already mentioned, it is quite slow but that's not a dealbreaker. Getting your phone from your pocket to change songs is always much slower. I've been looking for something like this. I ride my bike to work almost daily and it's a 45 minute trip so this little app is really welcome.
Will this support more than just double-click? I'm very happy with this functionality but single, hold or triple could be usefull as well. Not sure wether that's possible.

Does it work with S2U2 active (screen is locked when the screen is turned off), or would I have to have the phone unlocked for the button to work?
Not sure, but it should work fine. I don't know whether it's similar or not (I haven't used S2U2), but I use PocketShield on my phone, and my app seems to work fine with it.

Q: Where is the settings button, its not in the Start Menu?
A: HTC wants you to use their interface, but if you want the settings button back then change your registry to this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo]
"HideSettings"=dword:0
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Q:Why are my navi lights always on?
A: This is Xsense. Just go to Start Menu>System Tools>Xsense. Now uncheck light Navi lights on suspend. Click Options, apply settings, that's it.
What is Xsense and its Features:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575247
Features:
1. Courtesy Settings:
- Select Volume Profiles to activate on Face-Down & Face-UP events. Choose from: None, Silent, Normal, and Vibrate. You can also choose to suspend the Phone when its facing down (duh!).
- Automatically activate/deactivate the Speakerphone during phone calls depending on the phone's posture. In other words, if you're not holding the phone up then it will automatically activate the Speakerphone.
2. Notifications-Sense:
- IF there is/are any outstanding notification(s), the device will vibrate whenever you move it at customizable intervals: Missed Call(s), Voice Mail, and SMS only.
3. Stylus-Sense:- When the Stylus is in/out: Will play faint sound + Blink the Back button's light +/Vibrate. Moreover, the device will vibrate whenever you move it at customizable intervals.
- When the Stylus is out and the device is moved: Device will vibrate twice on every posture change + blink the Back button's light to REMIND you that the Stylus has not been placed back in. This goes ON until the Stylus is placed where it should be.
* Uses "in.wav" & "out.wav" files in the \XSense\ Dir; you can use whatever wave files for this.
4. General Settings:
- Polling Interval: From 200 to 3000 Miliseconds. This determines the rate at which the G-Sensor is polled. Lower values give higher response times and fluid operation at the cost of battery life & CPU utilization.
- Flash Navi Lights: Will blink button lights to notify you of Profile changes and Stylus In/Out.
- Vibrate on Events: Will induce very subtle vibrations to notify you of Notifications and Profile changes.
- Suspend when UP-Side-Down: Your phone will suspend if you hold it up-side-down (duh!)

Q: I don't like/want the clear clock and panels, is there anyway to get the standard clock and panels back?
A:Sure just CLICK HERE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Where can I find the Orginal Slider and icons?
A: Right here
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How do I stop the HTC Sense Clock from flipping all the time?
A: Just install this cab and enjoy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
If you can't open email in the Beta Roms just install this cab and all should be fine
For fully functioning Sense 2.5:
Install Opera 9.7 via cab and make reg edits.
The Scroll bar in the phone canvas is actually a build issue. Some people have made "fixes" which sometimes work sometimes don't.
Nice, excited to try this vet. I loved your Vogue roms.
Hey VET ARE YOU REALLY BACK!!!??!!
Let me know if you need a beta tester for anything!!!!
It's good to have you back!!!!
ahhh yessssss. look forward to it!
Nice, look forward to checking it out. Welcome back BTW.
do we have an ETA on this?
Welcome back, loved your roms

well, at least according to this post it is not. This is based on GSM ROM though since there is no CDMA yet. Maybe it is different from carrier to carrier... hopefully.
you will probably wanna post at the geek site too even though I totally understand why you don't but the cdma pro forum is much more live there
^ I'm good, everything is in one place making it easy to catch things. Thanks tho.
ETA- Every Sat/Sun
Keep the good info coming.
anticipating the release of this.
will check back on Saturday/Sunday for any updates!
can't wait. last time i ran your roms was the black pill on the titan, and once i got it on, i never looked back. i have been flashing my pro almost daily for over 6 montsh now. please make your rom good like the titan one was. i'm tired of flashing my phone, and would like to actually use it.
Welcome Back!
Credits:
Foremost, let us all acknowledge Koushik for his brilliant "Sensors" library upon which most if not all non-HTC apps that use the G-Sensor, Light-Sensor, and Navi-Sensor are built, simply ingenious. Moreover, I would like to recognize No2chem for the NeuLed2 library which is an equally exquisite peace of code that allows access to the Diamond/Pro Leds. Without those two guys, accessing these advance interfaces on the diamond/pro would be inapproachable at best.
Reason: HTC gave these phones lots of sensors, lets give them.."Sense".
......... EXTRA-Sense ...........
* Hopefully, an innovaton & integration of RANDOM but needful features...
Features:
1. Courtesy Settings:
- Select Volume Profiles to activate on Face-Down & Face-UP events. Choose from: None, Silent, Normal, and Vibrate. You can also choose to suspend the Phone when its facing down (duh!).
OR, use the UI to select whichever wave files you want!
- Light Navi Button When Suspended: Will do just that. This is an independent setting that turns ON the Navi button's light at suspend time, and OFF at Resume time (this is Event Driven, so no polling is involved). This feature really helps if, like me, you want to see where the damn thing is in the dark - before you launch it against the floor.
6. Installs to "\Program Files\XSense", and Creates 2 shortcuts:
"Start Menu\Programs\XSense" and "Startup\XSenseSvc".
Program Settings are saved to the Registry at "HKCU\Software\XSense\".
Use of System Resources:
1. Diskspace: 162 KB RAM footprint: 374-535 KB Battery: NOT observed.
2. CPU Usage: %0.29 Average. Spikes for 2 seconds to %2.7 - %8.5.
* Indicated CPU usage occurs ONLY when there is an EVENT (posture changed, stylus in/out Sounds playing,
etc)
- Vibration: The way I like it is in waves of 200 miliseconds length! I generally hate vibrations, so if you want it at 201 ms. you're welcome to make your own program and enjoy the merits of your personal taste.
- This prgram Registers Event Handlers for: "G-Sensor", "Incoming Call", "Phone Call in Progress", "Stylus in/out", and Power Manager events. DO NOT move it to Internal Storage, you have been warned.
Requirements:
.NET 3.5 + Diamond or Raphael (for all features to work), else, any HTC device with GSensor & Light Sensor.
Bugs/Limitations:
Knock yourself out...

This program is provided strictly on "as is" basis. It is intended only as a proof-of-concept. Although fully functional, it must NOT be considered for daily use. Release Notes:
- This is the LAST revision/release/app I make; programming too much work
- Download & Install the CAB
- Run the XSense from your Start Menu\Programs, customize to taste, and enjoy!
Change Log:
- Brand New UI: VERY touch friendly - this is especially useful if you have
an WVGA Device - HD/Rhodium/Topaz/HD2 etc...
- Revised entire code for existing & potential bugs, and Performance
tweaked to death.
- Removed various functions (auto speakerphone, car-kit options, etc...). Use "Touch InCall Screen Tweak" for these,
its handles Phone/Speaker brilliantly!
- Shortcut added to Startup for automatic launch after reboot.
- Shortcut with a nice icon added to Start Menu (Credit to VetVito).
- General Tab:
- Navi Button will only light up if the device is in a dark place, i.e. You will
always see where your phone is (before you trash it against the wall).
- Stylus Tab:
- UI elements to select & set sounds for Stylus-in/out events.
Download: XSense 1.2 - Final

Actually, with very minor modifications (taking the led calls out) it should work just dandy. Or, better yet, does the TP2 have any leds? Do the buttons light up on events, like the diamond/raphael?

Using X-Sense when the phone is upright there is no way to activate phonespeaker manually. Is it possible to change it? Will be pratical in car.
So, this app won't work for my Vogue???

This is a intended to a direct replacement for a HTC/T-Mobile rom but based on a newer version of Windows Mobile. In addition to the standard packages from the T-Mobile 1.33 rom I have added the following applications
Advanced Config Tool
AppToDate
ArcSwitch Task Manager
Facebook
gsPlayer (ShoutCast capable)
HTC Wifi Router
Tiny Twitter
Remember to set the device locale, time and align the screen post install. If you do not (the first two) Windows Marketplace will not work.
Usual disclaimer: This works for me and is offered with the best of intentions, but I am not responsible for any device damage.
I would like to try this but first I'd like to know. Is the rom customized for T-Mobile or not? I hope it is a generic WWE version
EDIT : If it is customized, what does it have and will it work on other carriers as well?

It uses some of the packages found in the tmobile rom, however it doesnt have tmobile branding and will autoconfig for other networks
Sorry to bother you but could you upload on another site? I want to download this rom but zshare doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe megaupload or something similar? Thank you
Very nice WM 6.5.5 - found there's no T-Moble branding. This is just what I was looking but would rather have that you didn't add any applications. We could install them ourselves if needed. Is there a way to uninstall some of them?
Can you upload one for us without adding anything? I would have been happy with the WM 6.5.5 clean ROM, but there was many errors with installing apps. and didn't work well.
Thanks for upload
I am for clean ROM too.
I was finally able to try this after waiting 3 hours eek to download it from zshare. It was like having a dial-up connection all over again . So here's a mirror site where you can download the rom if you are experiencing the same problems I did : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YGX2BPP7.
Other than that, the rom is great, working fine, seems to be the best one yet. I only found annoyng the slider in the dialler and the volume animation when pressing the side volume keys (although the original animation is available in the phone, it is not activated when the hardware keys are pressed). I wish I knew how to cook if only to solve these minor issues with the rom in order to make it perfect.
Anyway, I will be sticking with this one for a while and would love if anyone could sort the things I stated earlier. So thank you for sharing this great rom with us

No, sorry...
Been ruunning Johan's 6.5.3 for a couple of days with no issues, but going to give this ROM a blast now...
ring volume
I also found that with this rom, even though my volume is set to high, when the phone rings it's too silent. This didn't happen on the other roms I've tried and I have set the same stock ringtone. Any thoughts?
EDIT: Problem solved after another hard reset. Weird, but anyway, my bad

Ensure you have notifications on. On the home screen go to the settings cog and select 'Sounds -phone profiles and system sounds'. Scroll down to notification sounds and make sure you have them turned on.
Tried the new Glassy thingy ROM today, nowhere near as quick or useable as this one. This is the best rom currently out there... I think I'm going to have to learn to cook - I want a 'professional' rom that's primarily for email and browsing, so no silly touchflo or titanium, todayagenda and iContact in rom, esmertec java to install operam mini 5 final (native beta too buggy)...

First thing I tried. I doublechecked, even with notifications on the screen doesn't light up. That can be confusing because I use silent often and it doesn't ring or vibrate but before the screen used to light up. Oh well...

Man, I didn't even think about trying that one. It looked horrible, at least to me. I like having touchflo because the windows mobile standby screen is not at all finger-friendly and titanium isn't really intuitive/useful. Besides, how does touchflo come in the way of e-mail or browsing? (those sure aren't the most resource-hungry apps) And it sure doesn't make the device slow, especially with this rom having the stock manilla wich was designed to run on top of the UI. I have to agree with you on this rom being the best yet. I'm using it too and am pleased with it. Do you really use opera mini instead of opera mobile? I found the latter to be much faster and more capable
Guys one thing you can do to get rid of the scroll bar in the dialer is open the advanced config tool in the start menu. Expand 'User Interface' and set 'Vertical Scrollbar width' to 0px. Not an ideal work around as it kills scroll bars system wide, however I have not found it to be awful so far, just scroll lists with a finger. This appears to be a bug in this build of Windows and needs patching of some of the HTC dlls.
