My first post here! I wanted some advice please. I have an HTC Touch Dual (carrier-unbranded and unlocked) which is using the English language. It is currently running WM 6.0 but I want to upgrade it to WM 6.1.
When I go to HTC's support site and type in the phone's serial number, it only gives me access to the PTG (portuguese) ROM, not the WWE (english) version.
I have downloaded the WWE version from a link in these forums (file name: RUU_Nike_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.1_Radio_NikeMR_1.65.28.25_signed_Ship.exe) but I want to know if I can flash my phone OK bearing in mind I don't know the original locale of the device? Can I flash my supposedly portuguese phone with a WWE ROM?
Is there a way of backing-up my current ROM in case flashing goes wrong?

Probably yuor is a portoghese phone with WWE rom, owewer Flash a new hardspl 1.22 and use THIS newest rom (the last one)!

According to the Wiki, the latest shipped WWE unbranded rom is 1.18.255.106, and my phone has the .108, so I just uploaded the upgrade package for that ROM (which I got from the support site (one of two here in Finland)) to the upload section of the ftp, in case someone wants it.
This version is for the "Finland and the Baltics" area, and the phone itself has the Scandinavian keyboard layout.

Thanks for the shipped rom, it is exactly the same ROM version 1.18.255.3 and the same radio version 1.03.03.10, the only change is on the shipped Extended ROM version from 1.18.255.106 to 1.18.255.108.

All roms are 'branded', also the HTC TyTN rom is branded by HTC.
Acording to the info *now* on the wiki (it will change on the future), the newest ROM is Cingular 1.34.502.1, which is dated 2006-09-21. This ROM has radio version 1.16.00.00, but the i-mate ROM dated 2006-09-08 has a newer radio version 1.20.31.10 which has been extracted so you can flash it separately if you want it on your device. The latest AKU build for the Hermes is on Cingular's ROM 1.31.502.1 which shows OS Build 14989.2.6.0, this means this is an AKU 2.6 while all the other available ROMs have AKU 2.3.
To remove the operator branding and have an 'unbranded' rom you just need to softreset before the ExtROM is installed after the device is hard-reseted.
You can install Cingular's 1.34 or 1.31 ROM (depending if you prefere AKU 2.3 or AKU 2.6) with I-mate 1.20 radio and HTC 1.18.255.106 ExtROM which will add HTC's tytn branding to your phone. This should be "the latest" rom now.

I successfully downgraded, CID unlocked and then upgraded to swap from Swedish to English, this worked like a CHARM!!
BUT!! The keyboard hacks does NOT seem to work,, heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!

is this mean -
that i need to do first is perform the Soft reset after i have completed or successful flash a ROM from the WIKI shiped ROM list,
then make the unhide ExtRom, then remove the ExtRom operator brand, from the Extended Rom folder, then install the "unbranded" ExtRom (execute the unbrand CAB file), then the last step is do the Hard reset.

question
i'm trying to change the language. i have a wwe hp ipaq rw6815, that off course is english (world wide english). i want to change it to the dutch rom. but, when i try to flash the hp rom update (the nld rom), i get a message telling me that the rom is not correct (needing off course a wwe rom). is there a patched hpRUU.exe floating around which lets me update to a nld (dutch) rom? maybe it is in one of the cooked roms? if so, please point me to the direction. i found a link for the patched file i need, but the rapidshare link is not valid anymore...
another question, i've got bootloader 1.05. i keep reading that i need to downgrade, is there a pressing need to do so? or to put it differently, should i now downgrade to 1.01 to overcome any future problems if flashing goes wrong in the future? wlan is working by the way in my current original hp wm5rom (wwe) with bl 1.05
Since HTC removed the WM 6.0 upgrade from their Web site last month, I am unable to locate it anywhere.
Can anyone offer a link to a download site for the OEM version of WM 6.0?

For safety's sake, flash Hard SPL V7 1st. This will offer some protection so you won't end up with a brick.
After you install Hard SPL you are able to flash ANY Hermes rom on this (or any other) site. Just make sure its for the Hermes though.

Can anyone tell me if I can upgrade to WM6.5 (english) from WM6 (CE OS 5.2.1622 - Build 18128.0.4.4)
HTC Touch Dual (NIKI100) Radio is: 1.58.1627.
Do I have to update the radio to 1.65 ? if so,...um...how do I do that?
Which WM6.5 Rom would I then need to flash to end up with 6.5 in english on my Touch Dual?
Could someone please put me out of my misery if it's a "no"..........I think I can handle it.....
Have you even looked at the rest of the threads here? There are quite a few WM6.5 roms floating around and a lot of them are english.

Thanks for your reply..yes. I've been reading these forums for around 2-3 years now so I know the roms are out there of course, but that wasn't my question. I have seen some horror stories too of some people upgrading and having the wrong radio version installed and ending up with big problems. My Touch Dual is quite old now with an older radio version than most I see here. So, of course I can download a WM6.5 in english, but my question is firstly, can I upgrade the radio version (without my phone being rendered useless !)because it seems that most 6.5 versions require a radio of at least 1.65 , and then a suitable version of WM6.5 after that. Just need a yes or no answer really...

an official 6.5 rom for the nike is not available! the last available official htc rom for the nike is a 6.1, but i think htc dont release a official 6.5 rom .

upgrade 1st to latest version of 6.1 available from HTC ( official version that match you CID/language).
this will upgrade your radio so you don't have to upgrade radio, also you will have a original rom that your original spl will accept if you mess up ( forget to HardSPL ).
run SoftSPL and flash HardSPL 1.22
flash a WM6.5 rom
you could brick your phone but i think the dangerous part is flashing HardSPL.
while original SPL is there u can flash original rom (WM6.1) and after anything by starting into bootloader tricolor screen (Pwr+Camera after reset).

I have recently purchased a used Netherlands version of HTC touch diamond2 and upgraded it to WM6.5 ROM 2.53.404.3 - But this not support english, I want complete English Windows version 6.5 - How to root the device and as I am very new to all the process, please explain me complete process or a link which explains complete process. I have posted in HTC support site , but my P/N number does not allow the version to upgrade, the customer care provided. Please help me installing english version of WM6.5 on my HTC touch diamond2. I have tried some Asian 2.17... Series etc. but it did not work out.
Install Hard-SPL on your phone.
Here you can find the spl and the instructions
Second, if you want a stock rom use this link. There you can find a serial so you can get a download from the htc website. WWE is a english copy.
