Hi,
I don't appear to receive MMS on my phone....or at least I can from some people, not others
I am on O2 pay monthly sim.
Can anyone verify the settings?
Thanks
Phil
if you can receive them at all, your settings are correct. If they were wrong, you wouldn't be able to download any!
Bet you that O2's shoddy data network is to blame. Three times in a month for the whole thing to crash? that ain't good and reminded me why i hated O2 in the first place!
Agreed...one that did not arrive has turned up.....will be O2 being flaky again!

I've read with interest much of the content here and on pdaPhoneHome about enabling my XDA to do MMS.
It seems to boil down to
1) Upgrade my EzWap from 2.1 to 2.5
2) Set up my EzWap connection to use a suitable message server
If I understand correctly the new ROM includes v2.5 of the EzWap software, so all I need to do there is download the new .exe and flash my ROM
If I'm wrong about that (someone please tell me) then I'll need to get hold of v2.5 separately, but that may be hard since the EzOS people still have 2.1 as the latest/current retail version, with 2.5 only via OEM distribution.
I've visited Photo.Net and looked at how MiNG has set up his connection, but he's in Singapore. (check it here... http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=257848) The myXDA site says EzWap 2.5 is available only to those who got their XDAs in Asia, so I'm assuming the settings MiNG uses are for his local TelCo.
Does O2 UK have a corresponding server I should point to, or should I point to the server detailed in MiNGs message (presumably in Singapore but who knows whether it'll be picky about sources?)

It does not: the new Special Edition ROM included the EzWAP (2.1) as it came from the O2 ROM we modified. We chose to include only software which came with the ROM we modified, plus a lot of freeware.
Someone could ofcourse make the mother of all warez distributions: a Special Edition ROM that includes (for instance) SpbSoft's GPRS monitor, Agenda Fusion (or PocketInformant 4), EzWAP 2.5, SSH and loads of other commercial software packages.
Point is, we wanted to prove that you could make the device a lot cooler by using nothing but what's already in there plus some freely available software. And even then we asked the authors of these freeware programs before including their work.
Tulaine I have posted on here and the other forums you mention all the setting for uk o2 xdas mms setting but they do not work, I know been trying to get it to work for about 1 month now, at the moment its not possible as far as I can tell(even tho as you said it work for the bloke in asia)
If anyone else can figure it let us know, I am still trying tho
Are you still having problems with this ? i've had my xda set up for mms with ezwap 2.5 for a few months now and it seems to work fine. can send and recieve mms from everyone i've tried it with. let me know if you need any help
You will need to get MMS enabled on your account by O2, but depending on who the reseller is, this may prove a Kafkaesque nightmare.
Hint: Do not admit you have an XDA, pretend you have a regular MMS phone.
Another Hint: Carphone warehouse's billing system doesn't allow a data plan with an MMS service, so you'd have to use the more expensive pay as you go GPRS plan. I might ring them up later today to see if this has been resolved yet.
Just called CPW, and got through to a decent techie who put the flag on for me with the data plan, at my own risk. Said about 50% of accounts have problems, but if I was willing to give it a shot that would be fine by him.
Interestingly, he also mentioned that CPW have stopped dealing with the XDA, and there's rumours about O2 UK also giving up. Major shame, as IMHO the XDA is still the best device around.

OK so now I'm worried - I only bought mine from CPW a week ago, does this mean I will effectively have no support ? Probably why I got it so cheap.. 8)
I'm also really interested in MMS, but can someone here please explain how to get EZ-WAP 2.5 ?
Greetings all,
I'm having the following issue with a Qtek 1020 I just purchased from Microdirect, sold as SIM unlocked. The phone just doesn't find the network when I turn it on with my Pay As You Go T-mobile SIM. No error message pops up, nothing asks me for an unlock code etc, I just get the message 'No Service' under Connectivity when I select the aerial icon at the top of the screen. When I go to Phone Settings I can see listed under 'other networks' O2 and Vodafone, but no T-mobile. I've tried changing GSM bands in the bootloader and listing networks but to no avail (I switched through 900, 1900 and 900/1800). I have also tried the unlocking tools around this site with no success. I know the SIM works as it asks for my PIN when I switch on and I can also browse through contacts stored on it. I'm wondering if anyone here has any ideas as I'm all out.
Information about my Qtek:
Qtek 1020
ROM version: 4.02.04 ENG
ROM date: 8/24/05
Radio version: A.33.02
Protocol version: 1.3.3
Model No: PW10B1
Please don't let me pull any more hair out :x
Thanks and warm regards,
Neil.

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone! I too bought the 1020 from Microdirect and have the same problem. I've tried my t-mobile pay as you go SIM in an i-mate pda2k and it worked straight away. That made me think the 1020 was restricted to o2/vodafone. If its an unlocked PDA why do Microdirect say it won't work with Orange? Where I work we successfully unlocked an XDA and used an Orange SIM, but that was a couple of years ago.
I've e-mailed qtek but have had no response yet.
I've tried the xda developers ROM and while it is cool I still get the problem with the t-mobile SIM, although it says No Signal as opposed to No Service. I was going to try the GSM modes on the bootloader but notice you've tried that already so I won't bother.
If I get any further I'll post back asap.
Mark
Thanks for your reply Mark and now I can rest knowing I'm not the only one having trouble! I too tried the developer's ROM with no luck, although it was nice to play with the extra applications. Funny how Microdirect stated that it was compatable with T-Mobile, when it seems that it is not. I tried my sister's T-Mobile contract SIM and it doesn't work either, but my mum's Vodafone SIM works fine as well as my dad's Pay As You Go Vodafone SIM. It seems like this device is locked out of T-Mobile.
Regards,
Neil.
News from Microdirect
Microdirect have backtracked on the unlocked claim.
See link below for their comments.

Oh well!
Yep I saw that. I decided to keep the PDA because it was such a good deal and I'm trying to go for a cheap contract with Vodafone. Check out http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/phonenetwork-84-1-Nokia_1100_on_Vodafone.html - £8 per month for the first 6 months then £16 afterwards. You get 1000 off-peak minutes per month to landlines and other Vodafone users as well as 250 TXTs plus £110 cash back after 6 months!! Sounds like a bargain to me, let's hope I pass the credit check!
Neil.
I was about to ask the very same question myself. I'm somewhat annoyed that Microdirect never even bothered to apologise or correct the mistake directly when I presented this problem to them last week - their response was to simply "return the item". For a Pocket PC PDA though, it's nice and cheap so like others, I'll keep mine and buy the cheapest possible Vodafone PAYG system that I can.
Well my Vodafone contract was approved and I immediately put the SIM into my Qtek 1020 whilst leaving the bundled Nokia phone unopened. All is well, I set up GPRS etc and my handy new PDA just got handier. Now I can sell this Nokia 1101 phone as it's SIM unlocked... might get 20 quid for it or something!
Regards,
Neil.
Okay well here's another damn issue with this thing... After a couple of weeks happy usage, the SD card slot decides to spit out anything I put into it - it just won't hold a card no matter what. I didn't force the mechanism at all or insert a card too forcefully - it just popped out one day and wouldn't go back in. I've written to Microdirect requesting an RMA, they replied thinking I was requesting an RMA for an SD card so I had to correct them and let them know it's actually the card slot in the 1020 that seems to have developed a fault of some kind. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had an issue with the card slot on their wallaby, so maybe we can say they are notoriously weak or something, or perhaps I was just unlucky.
Regards,
Neil.
Update: My replacement 1020 arrived today and all is well, well done to MicroDirect.
Rgds,
Neil.
I wonder if anyone can help, or at least tell me if they have the same problem. My Tytn, which came with the original shipping ROM (1.18.255.3) has the issue with Vodafone voicemail etc of not giving any text message alerts, so I had to use the ringback service. So, I upgraded my vodafone account to the new Vodfone Mail (see www.vodafone.net), and all was solved- got the text messages, as well as the tape symbol.
However, I've now upgraded my ROM to the SA one (1.35.255.2), and all message alerts have now completely disappeared again. This is a bit of a disaster, but i really don't want to downgrade my ROM again if I can avoid it.
Anyone had the same problem in the UK? Any solutions? Pleeeaase??!
I'm having exactly the same problem as you. Before the upgrade, alerts via 242 worked perfectly. Now I get nothing. I've changed it back to 121 and still no alerts in any way shape or form.
Annoying, as this ROM upgrade was worth doing up until this.

I posted the upgrade from South Africa.
I am sure that the Service Provider plays a big role in the messaging displays. I am on the Vodacom network here which is 50% owned by Vodafone and this upgrade works perfectly here. I further believe that this upgrade was tweaked by HTC to match our requirements and solve the issues we had with the TyTN units on our local networks.
I do beleive that Vodacom is far bolder than Vodafone as I think we had HSDPA running here before the UK. The only problem here is the high costs of our mobile services. Vodacom in SA has about 20 million users.
I hope this give an insight on the problem as posted.
Good luck!
Thanks- helps us understand the thinking behind the new ROM upgrade. I only wish that HTC UK were not completely useless, then we migt have a localised ROM which works with Voda.
In the meantime, I've had to go back to "alert and deliver" which means the phone rings incessantly until you answer it to listen to messages. Otherwise the new ROM is great.
I even spoke to HTC UK to ask where to get the new ROM from. They said "our distributers", which is about as helpful as a chocolate fireguard as the only *big* seller of HTC branded products in the UK is expansys.... who told me to go to HTC. Oh the joys of using cutting-edge equipment!

Yes I must say we have a very on the ball distributor in Leaf Wireless. They have managed to fine tune the product to work correctly on our networks.
Good luck with Vodafone!
Hi All,
Recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Gumtree online. It was only working on o2 network so got at unblocked from a guy at a market stall so that it works on all network sims. It was working fine for about a week but then randomly came up with a message saying "emergency calls only" and I coulnt make or recieve calls or texts even if i changed the sim to o2. The internet was still functioning correctly however.
Called network provider and have been told that there is a bar on it by an insurance company. Tried to get back to the seller but have not been able to contact him. Have reported him but I would just like to know is there any way to unblock this phone at all? Dont want to lose out on all the money spent on it. would it be worth downloading any unblocking applications if the phone has a bar on it?
Please any ideas, comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies for the long message
Thanks

This forum is for the SGH-I777 (AT&T version, four capacitive buttons at the bottom.)
You're in the UK and bought from the UK equivalent of Craigslist, so you likely have an I9100. This isn't the forum for you.
Either way, nothing anyone here can do to help you - we are all AT&T customers.
Not to mention, sounds like you bought a hot (stolen) phone. Only the carrier it was first connected to can unblock the IMEI and unless you can prove you bought it legitimately they are unlikely to do so. If the insurer already paid out on a claim then they will never do so. Buying from unknown sources is a bad idea.
So in short, sounds like the guy got scammed.

Is anyone's T-Mobile service just suffering lately? I have had a terrible time with T-Mobile lately. My HTC One, before being replaced, couldn't send MMS or make calls because of "insufficient funds" even though my plan has unlimited for both. I got my phone replaced, and it was working for a few days, but then, I couldn't receive incoming calls. I had to switch my # like 4 times to no avail, the company retail location tried to get me to buy another 30 days and lose my money for the current month. I had to call the 1-800 #, they transferred my info and credit into a new account and the problem was solved. Here's the next issue: my dad cannot get phone calls to come in with his Galaxy Note II. It's insufficient when he cannot receive calls during work. I can get calls, but I am just annoyed with T-Mobile because they even refused to give me an unlock code even though I have used my HTC One in a time over 40 days and I have been with T-Mobile for years.

You didnt say where you were. Might have a better response if you asked "Is t-mobile service getting worse in Ames, Iowa" or something similar. T-Mobile is always upgrading, so it could be that there is something going on around your location. Most of the times this is for the better, once you get past the preparation phase.
As for the unlock code, call them back and get another person. They are by far the best of the big 4 in unlocking phones. Tell them you are leaving the country and need to be able to use a foreign sim.

I am in Miami, Florida. I doubt it is upgrading since two phones are "problems with the device" according to T-Mobile. I already replaced my old phone, so that was solved like I said, but their LTE coverage is really weak down here compared to the 40 up and 20 down other areas of the country see. I had problems again with my phone, but that was with my account for some odd reason, so my faith in T-Mobile is a little weak right now.
