Here's my take on this:
I believe that HTC themselves are part of the developer block behind the various Operator Hermes releases. I believe they did the DoPod update and they're doing Cingular now. With each progressive update, the list of issues gets smaller, but their own resources are being consumed with operator QA cycles.
That being said and given that the TyTN is HTC's "flagship" version of the Hermes, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the TyTN ROM update will be AKU3.0 and will be released sometime after the Cingular 8525 ROM development has concluded.
This is just a hunch on my part, but if it makes a certain (twisted) amount of sense if you think about it. If its true, we won't see the next TyTN ROM until the Oct-Nov timeframe. If its AKU3.0 it'll be worth the wait however. Based on my xp with the new Cingular ROM, I can see that they are stretching AKU2.6 in an attempt to fix the A2DP issue. Its better, but something is wrong with the base Architecture IMO. HTC will really need some fundamental "plumbing" modifications from M$ to make A2DP work well on the TyTN and that is one of the big promises of AKU3.0.

I would say HTC is heads down prioritising finishing the ROMs for the several new devices that are coming out Oct-Nov, ready for Christmas. New product completion usually takes precedence over support, especially since we are not providing any ongoing support revenue for HTC.
I'd also say that Tytn has been a buggy and problematic release for HTC. And given that the newer products will have similar internals, HTC is trying to up the quality on these. It's quite a sensible product strategy to release a new hardware/software platform (Tytn being first) to a smaller market (keyboard PDAs must sell less than non-keyboard ones), find out the problems, and learn from these before releasing the products that will reach a wider audience.
That's the glass-half-empty take on this for sure montyA...

with the Wizard, HTC (or qtek) managed to get out a bug-fix rom early (the 1.67 rom), and then made everyone wait for the AKU2 rom (the 2.x roms) while they worked on the Cingular, t-mobile, etc roms.
bummer that they can't do the same here and give us a bug-fix rom while we wait for the AKU3 rom release...
2008/12/31 11:01 (EU team) I understand that some users are having difficulties with a so called lag in the usage of Tomtom and Touch Pro. HTC does not have any upgrades in order to disable the lag of updating the position to the Tomtom application. Tomtom is indeed a third party application and I would therefore recommend you to contact them to see if they have any fixes for the so called lag issue

The problem persists, it could be improved with some registry hacking aparently / as claimed on web, but i didnt try those. Anyway good to hear there is a rom update on the way.

Some claim that a registry change or a patch to the application (tomtom) will solve the lag issues. It doesn't seem like there is a universal solution as for now. This is my correspondation with HTC support team. Aparently there is a new ROM for HTC Pro incomming, so maybe we are getting a fix for some of the bugs, maybe even the GPS fix. So lets hope someone actually WILL try the ROM when its available and inform the custom ROM users if anything was fixed.
Let's hope that your "friend" at HTC Team isn't bluffing...

To market a device like the TP with lots of bugs and flaws is incredible...
But that's the reason foor xda-developers existance...
they promised me from november they said end of dec 2008 there will be an rom. only bluff
But... only for Pro? Diamond has the issue as well...

this sound like back in the day when the CEO/President of HTC responded to all the critics about the lag in video performance of the Kaiser. He promised something will be done to get thing right by March 08 (?). At that time, I said, I would believe it when I see it. It's never happened. So don't get your hope too high.

does he mean ROM version 1.19?
i got my TP a week ago, it has rom version 1.90.707.4 WWE
which is much later than 1.19
but displays the gps lag.
the rom date state 8/23/08
which is prior to the date HTC said they would be releasing a new one.
i'm confused!

Is it just me or is the support page for the Sprint Touch Pro (Raph800) missing from HTC's website? Sprint still points the URL to http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=195&act=sd&cat=all and the Touch Pro (Sprint) no longer shows up on HTC.
your not alone i noticed that as well.
HTC changed their support pages a lot, and website from what I can tell. A lot of the support pages for various phones/carriers are messed up. The US Cellular Touch Pro page doesn't have the stock ROM anymore, instead it has the ROM for the regular Touch, which could cause a few problems if you didn't notice before trying to flash...
I spent over an hour with sprint support this morning trying to figure out where to find the stock rom and had to chuckle when advanced support suggested they could update my data profile to fix the problem.
HTC apparently updated their site last week and is still trying to sort things out. When I spoke with HTC support the rep apologized and advised I check back or post to the forum requesting the stock rom be posted....
Its a bit scary to think HTC went live with a site redesign without proper QA testing first.... I wonder where they could have found an army of volunteer testers to help them out before posting their site changes?????

This is also due to the fact the effective immediately, Sprint will be longer offering the Touch Pro.....apparently the Palm, Samsung, and other HTC variants have caused both companies to throw away a great (albeit sometimes faulty) phone.

This is my first post on xda, and I am hoping to learn a lot whilst I am here.
I am not expecting any help here, but there has been small hype about getting android onto this phone. And I understand that you may be critical about noobs like me expecting an easy fix from you.
I appreciate that the idea makes no sense from many perspectives, this is mine.
I purchased the windows 7 phone 3 months ago, I was a complete idiot and fell for the sales pitch, the salesman promised me the earth, he said I would be able to WiFi Tether on the next update, he told me it would be better then the android evo 4 that I wanted.
As you are probably aware, I am a complete fool. I have however spent many hours on the phone with a certain mobile phone outlett, and my provider, neither will help. And I am stuck with the phone till 2013.
The phone's buyback price has gone down to 1/3rd what it was on the day I bought the phone.
I have now made it my mission to get this phone to run android. I feel so strongly I may even remove the windows logo from the bottom of my touch-screen.
I have already researched some, and expect days more research before I'll be able to do, whatever it is I need to do.
I am and will be keeping a log, of all my research, and hopefully can use what I learn to help people out later on.
So....
Any comments, or questions or support?

I have picked up a few things. And therefore want to clarify,
I don't want to dual boot the 2 OS's, I want to REMOVE windows 7 and replace it with Android.
From what I gather this means I need to develop an android ROM to work with the mozart, and then Flash it to the phone...?
So my logical mind tells me to look for the android ROM that works on the most similar spec phone.
I am however aware that the firmware or something is different in the mozart, from the HD7 and does not allow for certain android commands to work, therefore the ROM (gingerbread?) used on the HD7 will not be remotely compatible with the HD7?
It seems that there may be a few options for the actual flashing of the ROM already available... So I am going to concentrate on learning more about ROM development now.
If anyone wants to correct me, point me in the right direction, or hurl abuse at me... feel free to do so
I do not know all that much about ROM development.
What about drivers though? Sure it is fine for the chipset as there are Android devices with the same chipset (CPU and GPU)... Although the WiFi, bluetooth, radio etc. I guess it's built into the SoC?
Drivers for the screen, capacitive buttons, camera etc?
I think if you look around, you should be able to find a phone similar to htc mozart and the name which comes to my mind is Nexus one and htc desire...
Although it depends on you that you extract drivers from the OS of both of those android based phones then extract drivers from your mozart and compare if they have same chipset....
I really wonder if it's possible to do all this virtually instead of physically installing OSes on phones for development purposes.

well, FYI, its been done and done bro, just unlock your device and install any of the excellent custom ROMs here. my notebook is tethered to my mozart right now.
but if you want to further explore the capabilities of the hardware, no worries- many good samaritans are already doing that. explore the development forums here and thy shall learn!

Tethering is working now, even with Telstra and no unlocking (7720).
This is my first post too! I was about to post something like yours. I have an HTC Mozart too and I want to install an Android ROM on it though my reasons are different.
As a software developer I have no experience about ROM development but I'm very interested.
So what did you do until now? Any success?
How's software support from manufacturer? Will we be getting regular security patches OTA?
Will it be supported for at least 2 years?
Anybody owned an Oppo phone knows about their history with updates?
Also, is their OS smooth and battery efficient or just horrible?

I had the oppo find 7. The phone was very good in his time but the software was very buggy. Os updates were very bad and it tOok a very long time to see an update. At the end, oppo closed his website and community forums leaving europe. Fortunately, there was xda devs supporting the device like omnirom etc...
I like the oppo find x but i m very septical about the support and more about the camera mechanism durability. An other thing, viewing the camera mechanism, i douubt the phone have an ip certification.
Ps: i think oppo will leave the europe maket one more time because of their prices. They are not known in france for example and a basic configuration at 999€, peoples will prefer to buy an iphone or a samsung. Maybe a huawei or a xiaomi wich are more famous than oppo here.

I agree with you, you forgot The Lamborghini version At 1699 €. Huawei and recently Xiaomi are already well known and sold in France, paradoxically Oneplus too but not Oppo
I doubt Oppo will break into the European market. big company in Asia certainly but almost unknown in Europe and bad memories of their rotating camera on N1 and N3....
I'm from germany and i think nearly nobody here or in france/spain/italy/netherlands will ever buy this phone at a pricetag of 999€. Nobody knows Oppo so you can impress nobody with your "Noname Phone". If you want to spend that much money you simply buy an iPhone or a S9+.
The Huawei P20 Pro is only selling good at that high pricetag because of the telekom, o2 and vodafone with a contract. So you have to pay 1-300€ to get the device. An Oppo without contract is nearly impossible to sell.

ColorOS in Oppo Find 7 days were always a year behind. For instance, Android was at version 4.4 Kitkat and yet Find 7 was released with 4.3 Jelly Bean. It's true that Oppo had continued to support it for 3 years, but remember at that third year, Android was at 6.0.1 Marshmallow and yet Find 7's latest final release was Project Something OS which is 5.1 Lollipop.
For people that doesn't necessarily understand how to root, TWRP, or flash custom ROMs, something will go wrong during this process because none of those updates are OTA nor recommended by service centers.
Should something ever go wrong, Oppo official service centers will give you its original 4.3 Jellybean that does not even support unified partition of any kind.
Until this day, June 2018, people still asks me: "What kind a phone is that? The camera is amazing."
The camera is still amazing even for 2018. Unfortunately, Oppo is very bad at releasing software updates. For that department, Oneplus is the better sister company but its camera & audio is not as good as Oppo's.
I was told that if you want good audio, VIVO seems to be the better sister company but I haven't paid much attention to its camera & software update support. I hope this helps.

To be honest Find 7 support was bad but also typical when considering it's contemporaries. At its introduction there was no monthly security update even for Nexus devices, it didn't exist. A whole bunch of OEMs were going to make you wait quite some time for updates and there would not be many. If they offer support similar to their contemporaries today as they did then it's going to be much better than it was for the Find 7.
Let's face it though; we're all going to have camera lift failure before the phone gets too antiquated.

I got money to spare and i really need a new phone (current daily driver is OP2 with official LOS 15.1).
How will the chinese version fare in Sweden/EU? I don't think localization will be an issue after setting it up, just wondering if there will be issues with 3G/4G etc.
I was looking for freqs but didn't see anything, have I missed it? I'd beware the Chinese model, those can be trouble with the play store everywhere else. That is usually overcome by development but there isn't any way to know how much development this thing will see just yet. I'd certainly wait till I knew what it's play status was and the freqs... Haven't seen anything concrete on bootloader locks if any just yet either when I think about it. You're going to need that to get where you want to go.

Twitter is the best way
I have the Oppo Find 7; bought it in 2014. If I had to use one word to describe the official software support, its 'frustrating'. The software on the phone was always 2 versions behind the latest one every year. It was released with Jelly bean 4.3 and around that time 5.0 was just around the corner. It took them 2-2.5 years to release an Android 5.1 ROM. Every major update from Oppo required the users to factory reset the device and it was very difficult for a layman to perform these flashes every time a new ROM was released. All the official ROMs released were beta - Color OS 2.1 Beta, Spectrum 1.1 Beta etc. Usually you'll find tons of custom ROMs from third party developers from China devs but flashing them on the international version of the phone bricked the device. All of the oppo community was very active in reporting bugs and flashing ROMs, but the official supporters soon closed the community website and all other oppo forums as they couldn't keep up with the updates and bug fixes. Officially the Find 7 got 7 ColorOS ROMS (2.0.0, 2.0.4, 2.0.5, 2.0.7, 2.0.8, 2.1.0, 2.1.5 from 4.4 to 5.1) and all were Beta releases. All of them had at least one or more major bugs. ColorOS isn't user friendly and takes a lot of time to get used to, its a very bad attempt to copy iOS on iPhones. The only good part of the OS might be the camera.
I went to omni and never looked back; had no problems at all. You do bring up a good point though; a person should be prepared and willing to stay on the release software for some time. I myself will want to know who is going to be developing, or if there will be any at all. I'm fine with Oreo but I'm going to need an unlocked bootloader/magisk. As to their launcher, yeah, it's junk. Easily fixed at the play store however; I know I'll have my beloved Action Launcher on there in about 5 minutes. Assuming I buy of course, a lot of questions to be answered first.

So basically unless we get custom roms for this phone - stay away.
I wouldn't go that far, if the bootloader is unlocked and you're good hanging on the delivered firmware it might still be a go. I would be as long as it's possible to enable double tap to wake, I hate having to swipe. The software itself was not that bad with the find 7, it was the craptacular launcher that hurt the stock experience.
All that said if a good developer picks one up and starts development that would make a buy decision easier to make.

I've had a few Oppo phones, and like others have said here, the biggest problem is software update speed. Their issue is that they use ColorOS, which is a heavy skin on the phone. They tapered it back some recently, but it still ends up making them delay updates because they have to do so much on their end.
The phones are always solid, high-quality phones. They just care too much about how the phone looks, rather than how current it is.
I have a NEX from China, and it was pretty simple to add Google services working flawlessly.
I assume same will be for FIND X which i have pre-ordered already should get it by 18th July.
