My Athena turns off whenever there is some movement .It is very inconvenient.
Whether it is connected to the keyboard or not doesn't make any difference .
The device has to be started with power button .
I am using michyprima 6.5 .This problem was with AP4 also.
Is it hardware or software problem?
Sounds like a battery issue. My athena does that sometimes too. Its definately hardware and its proally your battery falling out of contact. Try taping it in and see if that helps

Agree, it must be the battery contacts.
Okay.....
Okay,
At the moment I am holding the lid on the battery compartment very tightly and shaking this thing in every possible direction & angle[must be looking stupid] and guess what?...It is NOT turning off by itself!
Then I took away pressure from the battery lid and with the first slight movement it is off.
So that's it?Is it THE problem?
How do you people fix it?It will look very ugly if I hold the lid in place TIGHTLY with a sticking plast?
Any Aesthetic solutions please?
And thank you very much for the DIAGNOSIS.Appreciate it.
a little clear tape will be almost unnoticable and should do the job
thick piece of paper
I solved the problem (mostly) by cutting a thick piece of paper (or thin piece of cardboard) that fits between the top of the battery and the lid so it forces the battery down harder onto the terminals.
I had to use the tape method to force my sd card from losing contact.
Let me know if my instructions are not clear.
Hi there every Athena owners ,
I saw this problem with cphilip u1000 too , what he did was stick a white double side tape about 5mm long x 1.5mm width x 1.5mm thick onto the inside of the opening battery door flap , put a paper to stick the tape that is facing u , close the lid door onto the battery slowly , nicely and tightly . Remember your lid door is on the way to malfunction completely soon , so take care - no rough n fast movement , no jerking n pulling on yr u1000 , and soon u have to replace the door lid yrself , by that time u hv to ask who in xda to help u again , cheers n best rgds - jimmunsw
Thanks!
Yes Sir,
I also used a transparent clear tape to close the battery lid tightly and also put a piece of folded paper between the battery and the lid i.e. inside the lid so that battery fits in snugly. It is done. And yes it is almost unnoticable.
Now the only problem is I cannot swap the SD cards easily.
Since I noticed that on this thread/forum people are awake and alert I may as well put some querries.
I have flashed Athena with michyprima 6.5.
The problem is with the today menu.
The items to select from the today menu do not appear as they should.
Sometimes some items are not shown in the options altogether.
And how to disable the Touchflow appearing on the today screen?I unchecked the bpx many times in the today items selection but it still keeps appearing.
And is there any reg hack/setting to rotate the screen from portrait to landscape when it gets in contact with the keyboard.
Please reply or should I start a new thread for this?

Have you made absolutely sure that the metal clip on the battery is slid into the right hole? If it's not, or if that clip slides too freely and comes out of the hole, the battery will not be making proper contact. This can be the case with some third party batteries. I had to take the clip from my old battery and swap it onto my replacement battery.
Metal clip
Jonslater
The metal clip is fine. The lid is the problem.
Anyone has answers to my querries posted above?
Hi there every athena owners ,
I like to add this :- u can use a thin double sided tape - of about 1mm in thickness ( stick a few to get that thickness if yrs is very thin ) and cut and paste to the edge of yr athena battery - where the same row of the charging pins are ( but not covering the pins area - ok ? ) , make sure it is of a better quality type like 3m brand or equivalent ... , push yr battery into the slot all the way in and make sure the tape sticks properly n firmly , then push the metal pin down firmly , then u slot in a piece of paper on the top and bottom of the slit area between the battery and the battery slot area to add more wedging so that it really wont move anymore , and then stick additional thicker of 1mm tapes on the closing door flap ( this one is one sided tape ok ? ), then close it tightly n firmly . lets see if it will cut off power to yr athena now , after u r done , pls dont shake it too hard , i hope this will work for u , it is no sure thing and i hv not tried it before , mine is in pristine condition , i takes care of it like a baby from day 1 and still do !, thks for reading - jimmunsw

Hello,
I bought the XDA IIs from a friend of mine in the U.K a month ago.
Everything works fine except that the STYLUS DOES NOT LOCK on to the groove provided behind the phone.
No matter how hard I push in it just would lock!!!
It was locking fine just an hour ago!!
After I charged the XDA IIs through a hotsync cable this problem seems to have arised.
Is there anything I can do at home to rectify the problem.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!
P.S - I have tried with a new pair of styli though and even they wouldn't lock in.!!!
Same problem here
I have learned to use it without the "pen". Losed two already!

 Fingers work better than the PEN
AND leads to a form of exercise too...
The only drawback being while typing multiple letters get punched & b'comes a pain to delete them all
Re: YES!!
Could be VERY "handy" to have more "finger-optimized" options on the screen... I now really find the "stick" a ver slowww "extra".

huh !!! you could do something like a more finger friendly usage with XDA IIs!???
How do you do that?

THANK YOU
Pockpctechs.com I thought had a fix for this?
I have this same problem but I just bought more replacement syluses and also make sure the device is in the normal position when I am wearing it.
Check www.pocketpctechs.com
what i did is open the back housing, put rubber sticker inside the place where stylus stay. now is tighter than before.
Hello
same problem, but realy easy to fix.
You have to use insulating tape (sorry, i don't know if this is the correct english name. This tape is used for insulating two elettrical wires connected togheter.)
So, you have to cut about 4mm x 1.5cm of this tape and then you have to turn around it on the top of your stylus.
This will produce a little gain of soft thickness right in the place where the stylus is in contact with your PDA.
My stylus slot was broken about one year ago: i used this insulating tape, and i have never lost my stylus.
follow some pictures... i have used white insulating tape in order to produce cleat photos: of course, you have to use black tape, as you can see in the last picture
Please try this link posted in wiki. This has details of how to fix a loose stylus.

May need to modify length of tape, so experiment
Thank you Ronzino for this idea . I am now trying it out and it seems very good and yes, we do call it insulating tape in English btw, (at least in UK English).
I think it depends on the thickness of the insulating tape used, but I have found that I needed to cut the tape a bit shorter, for the stylus to fit. So it is worth experimenting on this.
I am guessing that the glue might soften in very hot weather, causing the tape to slide a bit, and make a bit of a mess, but this seems a minor problem compared to having to open uo my Blue Angel, which I reluctant to try. One can always clean up and use a fresh bit of tape.
I dare say it might be handy if manufacturers could perhaps produce stylus' in a way that overcomes this problem. One stylus I have seen has a small, rear springed, ball bearing inset on one side of it which would solve this problem. Unfortunately they do not seem to do these with the Blue Angel pecs in mind though.

This was suggested a while back (in fact, there was something about this in the wiki). For the most part, the section of the casing in charge of holding the stylus in place gets warped/cracked from use. Making the body of the stylus thicker allows the center to be locked rather than the top. Not sure about the glue, but for this to go bad, temps have to be rather high...
Instead of wrapping tape around your stylus, you can also take a 4x6mm piece of soft rubber and stick it inside the housing just behind the hook which should hold the pen.
You need 1,5mm material, if the hook is still there and you just want to improve the tightnes of your clasp, and 3-4mm if it is gone.
edit: replaced the missing clasp by using some piece of nylon- attached pic shows where i've taken it from. Glued this tiny part into the bay of the broken clasp and placed some mossrubber behind it as described above.
Works really good, and no tape smearing around in your housing
(Note: don't use cyanacrylate, it's like cancer to our housing...)
Hi,
anyone has battery & back plastic case for Siemens SX66 model?
thanks.
yes i do, quite a few other parts too, camera speaker screen etc

Would you have a d-pad as it seems that they get worn on the inside.
Taking it apart and removing the dust has not helped.
However if I look at the back ruber part of the d-pad I notice that it has a raised button were each of the contacts are. My down one is now close to being flat. A dab of glue did not stick to the ruber as it fell of when I was putting it back together again.
To make it worse for me is the fact I was given a replacement BA as it was no longer needed and that too has the same problem (which would esplain why I got it for free in the first place.
Does anyone know if there is a third party Touch HD cover with a reset hole, so that we can perform reset wihtout having to remove the back cover?
I usually try to reset by software, but often this is not possible because the device is frozen, in which case I would remove the back cover and take off the battery.
How much more convenience there will be if I can just poke into the reset hold without removing the cover, isn't it?
why not just drill the cover yourself?
What tools do you use for this drilling job? How do you get it at the correct position? Will the paint around it come off if an amateur does the drilling?
I would love one with micro SD card hole. But I would need an extra back cover to have that as backup.
Try it with one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Housing-Batte...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:2|39:1|240:1318
It is a relatively simple task drilling a hole, or making a cut-out.
I would suggest buying a spare back cover first though.
You will need;
something like a 2.5mm drill bit (just got HD like an hr ago not had chance to play with it or make measurements), 2 bits of masking tape, a small ruler or measuring tape, something to protect the back when laying it on a suitable surface to drill on.
Accurately measure where the button is in relation to where the hole is to be.
Put the Masking tape either side of the back roughly where the hole will be, then carefully transfer the measurements over on to the back and mark on the tape where the hole will be.
Using a suitable bit, while resting the back on something to prevent scratches, drill the hole.
Please note having a hole may increase chances of dust and lint getting into the battery compartment - you could resolve this by getting a small 10mm square piece of foam (same kind as used in light traps in cameras - its pretty thin).
For the Micro SD cut out, sorry you'll need to ask me later once I've had a chance to have a proper look.
Feel free to PM me

As above & using my trusty Dremmel in its drill press to get an accurate location.
Although, I'm also not too keen to have an 'open' hole on my case.
For an micro SD cut out cover, suppose you could use a small piece of sheet rubber: leave 2 lugs either side to secure the flap when closed and secure the flap to the back.
Or you could perform something approaching micro surgery and construct a carrier for it that replacesthe bit cut out for the hole.

Read the first post - he wants this for when the device is frozen and a software reset would not be possible.
iPhoneLCD superior to Blackstone! but Blackstone practical than the iPhone!
I just bought a Boxwave 2500mah extended battery that comes with a extended battery door for my Touch HD and I think its pretty easy & possible to make reset hole for the battery door. You just need a really pointy and sharp exacto knife to puncture the plastic battery door and then just rotate the knife until you get your desired size of the hole. Tried this many times when I was still playing with "Lets Go Tamiya Cars".
About the hole for the microSD card, I think this one will be a little tricky to do because you might hit one of the locks for the door upon modification.

Hi eaglesteve,
If the device is frozen, can't you just reset by holding the power key down for 3 seconds? This should always kill the power, leading to a soft reset when you turn it back on. It's my preferred method for tboth the Blackstone and Diamond products.

The problem is that the Blackstone requires a touch confirmation and this is usually not possible when the device is frozen.

Hi,
Where i can find a back cover with reset hole?
Thanx
I think you will have to buy a replacement battery cover and drill a hole in it yourself
.. my apologies if this not the appropriate place to post this, but I need help..the little battery door/flap that clips into place which holds the actual battery in place and covers the SIM card (not the black battery cover/antenna) has broken!!.. Now whenever the phone drops or is handled rough enough to cause the battery cover/antenna to come off, the battery slides out of place and the phone turns off.. this happens multiple times throughout the day..i'm ready to throw this phone into the far reaches of this galaxy to say the least... if thats not bad enough, the little chrome peice that surrounds the sensor part of the optical trackpad on the front of the phone has fallen out .. it really takes away from the beauty of the phone!.. any idea where I can find replacement parts for these???.. used or new, it doesn't matter ... If ANYONE can help me i'd be indebted to you for ever!!!
Try contacting HTC.. They make the phones and they should know.. And btw.. Handle your phone a little more careful..

Damn, i've always been afraid of that happening expirimenting and having to remove the battery frequently. Don't know anything to help you, sorry
I have the same broken part. Been looking around for this part for a while with no luck. HTC want £44 to replace it, only by sending it in for a repair. They will not sell me the part and I cannot find it anywhere.
I will keep an eye on this thread for more suggestions.
Tape? Although it would have to stick to the aluminum unibody. See if it works! My head's imagery seems like it could.
Yes, my Legend is basically held together with tape. Without it, the battery cover comes of very easily. It's been like this for about 6 weeks now.
I've also been in to my local Vodafone shop to see what they say. They will not repair it as it's a moving part.
Buy your Legend a silicone or rubber case. That should prevent black cover from falling off.

why don't u fill the gap between the black part and ur battery with a soft rubber?
i think it'll solve ur problem
I want this part too. The center clip mechanism has failed due to taking the cover off regularly.
Oh my goodness, I should stop switching SIMs every now and then. I'm scared, actually.

I was thinking of placing a secundairy antenna on that part, so you would stil have an small antena if the lid is missing. or maybe even better reception.
If you still have problems with the battery cover/flap, here's what i did on my legend: Take out the battery, look inside the battery compartment, you'll see the four battery contacts/pins, and right next to them you'll see there is a small black square rubber, glued to a metal spring underneath. The spring is heavily glued to the chassis/plastic body. I took a small (but strong) set of tweezers, and pulled the thing off the phone (the spring + the small rubber attached to it), and my phone works perfectly now, with the broken flap. The thing is that the spring is actually pushing the battery out, for "easier" removal, thus making the battery loose contact/fall out on every shake/impact.
I think that the design of this part is the worst about the legend. On mine I have experienced that the grip is weaker and weaker, and now comes off quite easily (unintended).
Recently i ordered 2 wallet cell phone cases from Amazon one of them had an auto wake function when you flipped the case open .. But i decided to keep the one that didnt have this function because it was made better .. Long story short i figured out something many people may or may not know . That the auto wake function is controlled by a very low power magnet ..In the picture im adding will show approximitly where to place the magnet in your case .. I took a magnetic business card and cut a piece of magnet about the size of a dime and it worked perfect and exactly how it should .View attachment 2833296
In the picture i put a white piece of paper that is positioned where the maget should be .. I just took a piece of electric tape and taped the dime size piece of magnet underneath where the the credit card slots are .. (Obviously dont tape it on top of the credit card slots). The screen is very sensitive to it and recognizes it very easily ..I would use the least powerful magnet you can get away with so it doesnt cause any damage to your credit cards or draw object towards your phone that might damage it.
You can test where the magnet needs to touch when the case folds before taping it .. Its about a half inch into the screen from the volume down button..
If this helps only one person then i will be satisfied ..

Seeing as our phones are solid state, I fail to see how a strong magnetic field might cause harm, other than possibly permanently "calibrating" the compass and causing issues with the radio(s). Please explain?

I was just saying that so people use with caution and don't have metal objects being pulled towards their phones that could damage or crack the screen. Also the fact that credit cards are in the case too and powerful magnets can render them useless. I guess I'll revise this but something tells me you already knew how to do this .

I would say that just the issues you've listed are reason enough to not use a powerful magnet.
