I have an alltel device with a verizon radio and NFSfan rom.
I've tried, iGo, Google Maps and now TomTom in standalone GPS with no success whatsoever.
What am I doing wrong?
did you install the alltell provisioning cab in the attachments on the first post of the NFSFAN thread? that is needed to make the GPS work. be sure to soft reset after & it should work.
I'm pretty sure I did.
I installed again and soft reset to still no avail on google maps or tomtom.
Try installing quickgps. It definitely helps. This is the version that works with NFSFAN's rom.

Still no luck with finding satellites. Says poor reception or no GPS device found.

Hi I'm new and i have found that on this stock firmware (Sprint), i can fully use the GPS without having data (which i don't). I used BAF GPS toggle for the today screen. Here is what i did:
installed TomTom GPS software
installed BAF GPS toggle
when you turn the GPS on, it will automatically try and start the data
connection, make sure it doesn't connect if you do not have data. even if you
do, its not going to do anything for you.

started TomTom with default GPS settings
and i waited a bit to get a lock and KABOOM it worked.
I did this on my Mogul with the current firmware from sprint as i said at the top. This has worked for me every time i have tried.
Did your Mogul come with 3.35 ROM and 3.35 radio?? If it did, then yes you have the drivers in the OS to enable GPS....
yes i have the 3.35 radio and rom. but without the BAF i couldnt find how to enable the gps without starting vision services. this also works on the current dcd build.
I had the GPS working and then upgraded to the latest DCD.
I now have:
DCD 3.2.5
Radio 3.42.50
I have COM port set to 4, hardware port set to none and baud rate 4800 and let windows manage the gps. I also set it from 911 to location in phone settings.
None of my apps (GoogleMaps, TomTom) recognize it. And GPS Viewer bombs when I try to open COM4.
Any ideas? I really need my gps back.
I remember some people saying to briefly flip Location back and forth from 911 to Location On a few times, and having it work. Try that, and maybe grab the HTC GPS Tool to try and diagnose this.
Also, if you haven't already, you may want to do the GPS fix that involves messing with QPST.
Hmm, I've got 3.2.5 with the .50 radio, and using TomTom 7 fine...so don't downgrade, keep working at it, since I have that same setup and working fine.
You might try the radio rom again. I also hear that *22899 might help. There are some other GPS software out there that will show you the NMEA messages, see if you are getting any and if not then your GPS is not turning on or there isn't a GPS chip in that phone. Just kidding.
OK all, I have just read inescpbl's post regarding his unfortunate upgrades, and I'm happy to say I didn't bung things up the same way, but more want to get your thoughts on my P4000's current state, and if there are any further updates that could smooth things over.
Basically, I did the following:
Upgraded bootloader to 2.40
Installed Radio 3.39
Installed No2chem's latest
Nothing worked.
Installed DCD 3.2.3
Installed Radio 3.42.50
Installed Telus CAB to allow for internet
Was able to surf internet and use google maps
Updated programming and PRL with *22803
Now, I can make calls but internet is like a yo-yo, with 90% of the time not working. When it does, Google Maps is unable to receive GPS satellites.
My question is, after all of this, the setup feels buggy. Is there something I have missed or should do?
Thanks in advance to anyone with their 2 cents to spare...
I've never had to update prl. Im with telus too. only thing i've done other than flash new roms is do the GC14 gps fix. Never had a problem with the P4000 being 'buggy' as you say it.
I tried the methods described in the forums to unlock the gps on my vx6800 , but i have no luck at all. Still not finding satellites in google maps and live. Rom 3.57.605 radio3.37.75 rpi 2.03_002 . Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Also how to remove vahalla gps manually from my device? I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert by any means but I have my Titan (xv6800 for Verizon) unlocked and GPS working fine. The difference I see from yours is your radio. I have radio 3.42.50. If I am not mistaken this is the current recommended radio for GPS capability. You also should install the GC Verizon aGPS cab to prime the GPS. The cab just uses your internet connection to find the current locations of the satellites which provides a 5-15 second lock in most cases. Ill attach the cab so you can install it. Also make sure that Google maps is manually set to use "com 4" and a baud rate of "4800". As far as the "Live" and "Valhalla" problem, I'm not sure because I haven't used either one. Also before you install that radio, make sure your rom is compatible with that radio. Again I am in no means an expert, just a student learning from these forums. Hope this helps.
PRBajista 9:
Do not install the above cab. Look here in the last ten pages for the new cab since verizon is messing with the gps settings. It is in serfboreds signature.

Also try to use htc gps tool or gps viewer to verify that the gps is seeing satellites.
Hey all, i'm running NFSFAN's 1.04 WM6.5.3 rom and i can't get a GPS lock in google maps or TomTom. I've tried the GPS start app and it says it found a GPS on COM4 and everything is working normally, but i never get a position lock.
is there some sort of tweak i have to make to get it working?
missing provisioning?
Check on NFSFAN's post, at the end of the first post there is an attachment of cabs, find the one that is for your carrier, install and voila. done.
You could always download QuickGPS and have it download and store the GPS locations so it connects faster. That's what I did on my TP with NFSF's rom and it finally started working.
anybody could send me this version of quickgps please?
