I am switching from a Motorola Q9h (also running 6.1) to a S743 and have couple of issues from the experts.
1. When I put my S743 in its cradle (powered, not connected to PC) the voice command starts talking out of the speaker instead of into the BT ear piece. A Jawbone device. When I pick it up from cradle I have power-cycle the Jawbone to get the S743 to start using it even though it claims to be connected.
2. The left softkey in the SMS/MMS inbox is "Reply". On the Q it was delete. Is there a mechanism to change the softkey in the SMS/MMS window to DELETE as it is in the email Inbox?

i have a BT-Q818 and one cool feature it has is that it goes on stand by mode once there is no connection. this is the case when i step out of the car. and whenever i start driving again, i seem to have had no pairing issue.
question is, is this FEATURE available on any BLUETOOTH HEADSET? reason being is that i only use my BT HEADSET when i drive and im getting tired with my current HS810 where its a hit and miss. sometimes it would pair and sometimes it would not.
thanks for any input guys.
Upon disconnection, the Nokia HS12-w displays "disconnected". Pressing the play button for a couple of seconds causes it to reconnect (I suspect to the last device it was connected with, but am not sure about that - I can test it if you like).
But even if you switch it off and back on, there is no need to pair again: it just starts searching for paired devices and connects with one of them (alas, no choice regarding what device it connects with, but it does seem to prefer Nokia devices over HTC ones).
The first connection it makes is as a headset (only calls are routed throught it, other sounds still come from the HTC). After pressing another button it also connect as an A2DP device and all sounds from the HTC are routed to it.

Hi...
I want to use my Hd2 as car pc... Yes you might say, it has a navipanel allready. But its not that what i imagine, however its similar. Navi panel has 6 Buttons, for Calling, go home, start copilot and so on. But no buttons for starting a music player or video player, gmeter ( i love it). So i am searching for an customizable Panel where i can set my 6 Buttons, like in CHT. It would be perfect if the APP connects to my a2dp Radio when it starts...
Is there any app can do this??
Regards
don't know if this is what you're looking for but what did was use wisbar advance desktop. from there i created the following shortcuts on my screen:
1) call home
2) call my wife's cel
3) call my kid's cel (yeah, these days they have phones as well =)
4) gps (papago or navigon)
5) pocket player (music)
6) coreplayer (when my kid is in the car and we go for long drives)
7) bt toggle (activates a2dp)
my phone is bonded to my trusty old r35 headset which is then plugged to my car's sound system. for my wife's car, this is no longer needed as she already has bt built in her car. yeah, i got the older model =) so when i toggle my bt, it connects immediately to the r35 and thus streams all sounds through the speakers.
cheers
Hi all,
Is it true that Android and the SGSII don't work well with car hands free kits? I have a ford, and I have paired my phone with the vehicle, and it seemed to share my contacts with the car - but when I press the phone button in the car, it beeps, and then I get 'Unable to initiate voice commands' on the car display. Phone does nothing.
Google seems to indicate this is a common problem, and there is hope for OS4. Is this true - or can it be done?
Has anyone had a problem with connecting the 920 to a car kit?
I've got a Vauxhall (GM) Insignia with the built in car kit. The 920 will connect to the car and the phone book and call lists will sync, however, when I try to make a call I get a message on the screen saying "Dialing Failed". I can make calls from the phone and they will go through the BT car kit. Same if I receive a call I can use the buttons on the steeringwheel to answer the call.
I did have a HTC HD2 with Winphone 7.5 and that worked flawlessly with the car kit, but this isn't so happy. Anyone got any suggestions?
As an aside, how do you change the name of the Phone so it doesn't just appear as "Windows Phone"?
Thanks

Use the Windows Phone App in Win8 to change the name. Maybe uss the Market (on a desktop browser, log in) to change the name - forgot if that's an option.
As far as cars go, every bluetooth phone I've had has been hit or miss - even the iPhone 4 I had worked, didn't work, then worked again at various versions of iOS on my Nissan.
I have a GM (Traverse) and it seems to like both my HTC Titan 7.5 and my Lumia 920 - the bluetooth stack in WP8 is different than the one used in WP7.5, apparently that's causing you issues.
Can you initiate voice calling from the steering wheel hands free? I can do that in my GM but not in my Nissan - if you can then you don't need the address book to sync.

Name: Yeah, worked that one out after I posted the message, thanks anyway
No, using the voice control doesn't work, the Dialing Failed message. Lets hope the first update may help
I can't even connect to the BT Kit in my Ford Focus. When I hit connect, the car doesn't show the PIN to connect as it should. The car kit works with HTC One X and iPhone 4s as expected. Read somewhere, that some BT protocols are missing in WP8. Rumours say, that this might get fixed with the next bigger update for WP in Q1 13. Let's hope it.

Had the same issue with my 2012 Ford Ranger, eventually got it working by doing the following:
When you pair your Lumia with your car, enter any PIN on your Lumia even if your car doesnt give you a pin. Once you enter a PIN on your Lumia and hit enter your car should provide you with the correct PIN to enter, then just enter the provided PIN and it should work.
Hi, I have a 2012 Mercedes ML350 which has the Comand Navigation system with bluetooth. I have no problem connecting to use the S3 as a phone but I'm trying to connect using the bluetooth multimedia interface so I can hear texts read out and to respond through voice dictation. I also have a Win 7 Phone and I was shocked when I connected it to the car and all of a sudden I was hearing and responding to texts. I did some googling and I think it is because the phone is hooked up using multimedia interface. I've tried a couple of different S2s and an Evo and didn't have any luck. I tried driving mode, all the different voice to text options and no luck. I can get texts read out in driving mode but it does it through the phone's speaker and not through the car audio. Anyone know how to connect using MMI? I don't get a choice of protocols when I connect and the bluetooth setting doesn't have any options to change the protocol either. I can't believe Windows Phone does something that Android can't. Thanks.
