nandroid backup? - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have rooted my phone thanks to dayzee's tutorial, and i made a nandroid backup. i installed cache to sd and after having a few issues with it i had to wipe my phone. After i wiped my phone without thinking i erased everything off of my SD card, now i dont have a nandroid backup, and i was wondering if it is necessary to have a nandroid backup and if so how do i get it back. thanks

It's not vital unless you want to restore your phone to the state it was in when you made that backup.

Wipe first the backup nandroid

shall i wipe first then backup nandroid , or vice versa , i am about to install custom rom and want to know this before i start.
i am on official htc firmware at the moment
if you wipe first and then do the backup you have a backup of your wiped phone. you make the backup at a point that you want to be able to restore. you can do a wipe everytime, so why would you want to do a backup of a fresh wiped phone?

restore from clockworkmod.

Hi, i thought something went wrong with my android so i did a flash but before that i did a backup.
After flashing, i found out with was a problem with my carrier not my phone, therefore i wish to restore the clockworkmod backup. As soon as i restore it from clockworkmod screen, i've booted back into a fresh Android with some apps missing.
Help please?
I've found out the problem. My nandroid din't backup the whole system. Apparently my memory card was full... Sigh

[Q] IHaving problem to restore a recovered Nandroid backup

A few days ago I accidently formatted my sd card by resizing sd-ext (I don't even know resizing sd-ext from CWM will format the sdcard)
Thing I have done:
Recovered the Nandroid backup with undelete software
Tried a full restore in CWM (Check mismatch in system.yaff2.img)
Tried to restore /data only (Also it doesn't let my to do this)
What should I do?Can I force the phone to restore the backup?
That Nandroid backup is my last resort to get my app data back.I don't want to play the game all over again. So plz help me

[Q] Clockworkmod Backup

I've been reading some conflicting information about nandroid backups. Do they actually back up everything on your phone, minus the micro SD card, or do I need something like Titanium to supplement it?
I've read both, so I'm looking for some clarification on exactly what steps I need to take to make sure everything is safe.
They backup everything.
The sd card is not backed up ie-music,videos,etc but everything else is backed up. u can use pc to backup sd card.
CWM actually backups the whole rom; system, boot, data and cache folders so when you restore a nandroid backup your rom will be exactly as you backup it; the apps and there data and every thing else related to the rom will be restored.

[Q] Does Nandroid backup restore modem?

Hi everyone,Before Installing WanamLite V6.0 I made a Nandroid backup. Now I want to revert to stock ROM which is the Nandroid backup I made, but wanted to know, does Nandroid Backup Also Restore MODEM? Cause I don't want modem to be restored.
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:
A standard Nandroid does not.
CWM does not backup or restore the modem.
Not too sure about other recoveries though....
I'm using Official CWM 6.0.3.1! And what about folders on the internal SDCard? Cause WanamLiteV6 is Android 4.2.2 and messed up Internal SDCard with emulated/0 folder...
you should be ok.
sdcard/0 might still exist after you've restored but can be deleted....
Will try to restore then, will let you know
If you face problems going back to your nandroid try using philz recovery and completely wiping the phone before you restore. It should get rid of everything.
