Need a way to transfer all info - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I was cursed recently with a bad charge mini usb port on my phone. I had bought it from ebay but took it to Verizon and they are sending me a new one to replace it for free. It is the Titan xv6800. The problem is I would love to just make an image of my phone and place it on the new one like one would do with the computer. Is that possible and if so how do ya do it?

Not sure about making a complete image, but you can copy the pim.vol from the root folder to your memory card. You want have your settings but you will have calender, contacts, ect.

backs up contacts, notes, messages (including email), call history. I have used it successfully many times

SPB backup is my choice. you just need to be sure that the current rom on your phone matches the rom on your replacement. if you're using a custom rom, make sure you flash the same rom. if you're using a stock rom from verizon, make sure the versions match or you flash the correct version. i used dcd 3.2.5 and make consistent backups with SPB because i know that i wont be changing my rom. it doesnt create an 'image' necessarily back it backs up all your files, settings, contacts, system folders..everything on your phone. i actually reflashed today and restored my most recent backup to have everything the same in one easy step. you can get a trial of SPB backup and solve your issue. you wont need to install SPB backup on your new phone as it creates a self extracting archive.

Do you backup phone before Changing ROM

I have added a few apps to my phone but before I get into changing rom should I back up phone? Whats a good app to back up phone and what do you do..backup phone when its working before adding a bunch of apps then after its all done can you do another back up??
Let me know
I downloaded advanced config tools and did 3 different cache changes that were reccomended to speed it up or something..so I decided to do it and tweaked mine.. Should I not back up now b/c of doing that??
you can use sprite backup
For me, i always, loose all programs after reset, it cleans out old junk i no longer use. But in case i need some save files or backup files for some programs, yes i do a backup for those.
Other than that, you should backup your contacts, call logs, messages, if needed. Best program to do all the above is PIM Backup, its a wonderful free tool that does the job PERFECTLY.
EnergyROM always has PIM Backup in it, which btw is the best ROM out there. Every time i want to place a new EnergyROM, i first do a backup of what i need, then flash then run PIM Backup again and restore. All done in less than 3 minutes
Cheers mate
Closing thread guys,
There are plenty of applications out to the public on backing up your pda.
Also this is an area for rom development.

how to fully backup device (similar to imaging) prior to flash?

Since early July, I've been using 6.5 build 23001 from Da_G's kitchen and recently have been tempted to upgrade to one of new 6.5 builds. I'm at a state where my device is completely stable and functional for my use. How can I backup my device in its entirety prior to upgrading? I've tried solutions like Sprite backup in the past (and that seems to be the popular solution on these forums), but find it inadequate especially after flashing different roms. Is there some way to backup the device so if I have to I can return/flash back to the original state of the previous rom? I'm thinking of something akin to making a system/drive imaging/ghosts on the PC so that I can tinker with a new 6.5 build but can restore fully to exactly where I was before if necessary.

Sashimi isn't what i'm looking for--it seems like an automated installer that will cut down the time/drudgery of reinstalling software. i want a solution that i can essentially restore my entire device from it current existing state. think of it like creating an image of the operating system partition on a computer for later restoration. SBP Backup, Sprite Backup, and others like it simply backup contacts, messages, settings, and various data and many times after restoring things are a little wonky. as far as i know, none of these actually back up the ROM as is. i essentially want to go from a hard reset to my formerly working device in no time.
The way I've done it is run Sprite, upgrade to the new ROM, fiddle, then flash the old ROM that I was using, then restore from backup. It's about the only way I've found.
Sunnysoft Backup Manager - never failed me on my RAPH creates self-extracting 1:1 image of internal storage, registry and system databases. You can restore it even without the app installed, it creates 4 files one of which is .exe that restores the backup.
Sprite and SPB can be buggy when flashing different ROMs. Not all of the stuff is in the same place when you go to restore it, so some things get left out, and sometimes the wrong thing gets changed.
If you are restoring the same, exact ROM, the backup should cover all areas and your device should be as it was before.
Actually there's a way to make your backups flashable. I'm trying to find it since I just saw it the other day. Its around this forum. I want to backup my ROM so I can share it with my friend without having to cook my own.
Found it!

[Q] Samsung Captivate - Nandroid Contacts

Alright, so I have rooted my Captivate, and brought it up to 2.2 (no thanks to AT&T). My issues are the following. Before I started messing with the operating system at all, I did a full Nandroid backup. My special situation is that I had contacts not associated with my Gmail account, and not synched to my SIM card, because it was full. These contacts should be backed up with the nandroid backup, but is there a way to simply extract them and put them on my computer, or have them back on my phone, without overwriting all of the data on my phone again? I'm a little bit desperate, and haven't been able to figure this out. Thanks so much for any help.
Edit: Just to make things a little clearer, here's what specifically I'm looking to do. I would like to be able to take the data.img file, and extract the contacts from it to my computer. Also, is it possible in Nandroid to restore just the contacts to the phone?
Have you tried exporting your contacts to a vcard in the phone's settings? this would save a .vcf file to your phone's sd card, which you can then e-mail or send to your pc.
contacts > menu > Import/Export > Export to SD card
Vcard
Well, because I already made the software changes and went to 2.2, the contacts arent currently loaded, but instead stored in the Nandroid backup. Is it possible to do this with just my nandroid files?
I see. I'm not sure how you can do that. Do you have the nandroid backup on your pc? Can you try running it on an old android phone?
Unfortunately, I do not have an older android device to load this up with. Anyone have a suggestion for how I might be able to open up the data file and extract some of the information? I do have the nandroid folder with all of the parts of the backup on my windows machine.
i am actually trying to do the very same thing. its hard because i cant just restore the nandroid backup because the kernels do not match up and i have been having a hell of a time getting back to a 2.1 kernel and restoring. it keeps boot looping.
i am trying to track down where in nandroid the contacts are stored because you can do an advanced restore and choose from specific directories so it might work. but can not find it so far. good luck, ill be following this thread so if you figure it out, let us know.
Well I have a fascinate, so I cant give you specific files to use etc, but I have no problem flashing 2.1 .tar through odin while I am on 2.2
For example, if I run into a problem on an eb01(2.2) ROM, I can just odin my trusty dl09(2.1) .tar and I am back to stock, bloated dl09 kernel/baseband/rom. Perhaps you can look in your specific device forum for an equivalent odin image?
I do not know how the nandroid backup is built, but would it be possible to burn the image to an SD card and take the files off of there? Or maybe using WINRAR to extract the files? The problem is, again, I do not know how it is made. I will try this as soon as I can get to my computer.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
so what i ended up doing to get this to work was flashing JI6 in odin and then restoring nandroid.
Well, I dont know where these backups are going, after backing up, if i go in nand manager, I see the file, but when clicked to explore, says this type file cannot be opened.
online nand says backup was successful, but there is nothing in the file. And it shows it as file size: 4kb.

[Q] Problem with Go Backup - Can't restore apps. Please help us.

So this is what happened.
I backed up all my apps using Go Backup, so there's now about 500MB worth of files all waiting to be restored. The reason I did the backup was that I was to flash a new ROM, which I did.
However, upon reinstalling Go Backup, I found that it doesn't recognize my backed up files anymore compared to the previous days I used it. Researching about the issue I soon realized that the problem is encountered my numerous people, all of whom losing their files because of Go Backup's inability to recognize files from their last update.
I tried installing Pro and the previous versions, but it wasn't successful.
Yes, I can install the apk files one by one, but that would be quite a hassle whenever I'd flash a new ROM. Anyone can help us on this one?
Thank you so much.
EDIT: So I tried reinstalling each apk with their corresponding tar files. Turns out there are some that can't be installed, the games. Agent Dash and Subway Surfr apks, for instance, would give me the message: there was a problem parsing the package. I guess I need Go Backup after all.

I've faced this before and i lost a lot of data because of Go backup. I was forced to move to a much better alternative such as MyBackup Pro or if you're rooted then you can use Titanium Backup no backup application can beat Titanium!
Yeah, in the end I had to abandon my save files.
I'll make it a point to use TB from now on. Thanks.
You're welcome mate be careful next time!

Hey I think I found a fix for ya. I just went through the same thing. I flashed a ROM and boom! I can't update jack even though all my data was on my external sd card. Uber gay. But here's a quick step by step:
1. Download and load gobackup
2. Make a backup of anything at all. It can be 1k of stuff for all i care.
3. Go to gobackup and check the settings you should see the file path (or something similar to it) /storage/sdcard0/GObackup/Allbackup
4. In any event check the path (this/that/sdcard/blahblahblah...) and make sure you have that Allbackup at the end. That's why you did step 2 is to get that folder loaded.
5. However you'd like, I used root explorer to copy and paste it, or you can simply use the USB funtion, but find the gobackup file in your external sd, pick out your backup and place it in the Allbackup folder mentioned in steps 3 and 4. And voila! Open gobackup and it'll be there. I hope it works for you to.

didn't work for me either.
I can see it all mnt/emmc/gobackup/allbackup/newbackup
this is the path the app refers to at its base - but cannot restore from it
guys does not worket for me either im so mad right now!!!!
all of my contacts and sms and all other thing is gone
but i find my prev back up on dropbox
its working but its my old back up and i need my last back up
this app is bull ****!!!!!!
Same problem, but I won't give up without fight.
Anyway, I tried to change permissions, add exceptions in system files, format card - non of this helped. Still Go Backup is useless in every way. Here are some screenshots, maybe they will help someone solve this problem.
Hi. Finally fix that
after flashing new ROM, i made a new backup (from 1 sms, 1 contact and 1 call log that i make me).

and restore new backup in Go backup that contain old data!

Restore Backup - SMS etc.

Hi everyone,
i hope someone can help me out with the following:
-Before moving to a new phone i've backed up data with an application....(i didn't do myself)
-After trying to restore it looks like the files are not good to be restored.....the fact is that the apps used to back up probably has not been reinstalled and the person now is not able to remember which one he used.
The file format for info,SMS etc. is .txt
and the file structure inside is something like:
{"subCategoriesSms":[{"address":"
"smsType":"TYPE_INBOX","status":"-1","checked":true,"label
if i could understand which backup apps use this set probably i could re-import.
-The phone where the backup was created was rooted, the new one is not....
Hope someone has a clue!
