Hi All,
I was trying to look for a belt holster with a magnetic lock.
I went to a shop for some generic holsters with magnetic locks, but then the sales clerk told me that magnets are not good for phones.
I've had some holsters before with magnetic locks with my Tytn II and I had no problem. Considering the magnetic compass that the hero has, I was thingking would this be a problem with the Hero?
I would avoid a magnetic clasp if possible, they *do* screw up phones (personal experience).
Blackberry holsters have had magnets in them for years, and the phone is designed to detect them and send the phone to sleep when it its holster - which is pretty cool.
I got a case of ebay which is pretty good, which has a magnetic "clasp" to hold it shut. My only complaint is that the belt loops aren't designed for belts much more than say an inch and a half in width.

Anyone have any leads on sources of cases to fit the Wizard? The one that comes with the K-Jam look decent of first view, but since I'll probably want something nicer I figured I would get this thread started.

Well, an update on this, I picked up a Targus Small Camera case Model DCCS00 and while it is a bit loose front to back it fits nicely side to side. A bit bulky but functional and It is easy to insert/remove the device. Also it securely attaches to my belt so I don't have to worry about scraping it off on my office chair. It'll do until someone releases a 'made for' case.

any news with more cases to buy for the k-jam??
anyone?
I ordered and got this case for my wizard after it was recommended on another board. The guy said he found it at a mall in NY at a mobile phone accessory cart. I like it a lot. Fits perfect. The belt clip (although it isnt visible) has a built in swivel so you can wear it vertical / horizontal / or on an angle. I wear it at an angle and its so easy to place in pouch and pull out. I can also charge with the wizard in the case becuase it has a small opening in the bottom.

I just ordered an OEM blackberry 71xx slip case belt clip and Tre 6xx slip case from ebay.

I like to concept of slip case rather than attaching something on my belt.
I'll keep everyone posted here...
Review: PDair booktype leather case
I did a review of the PDair booktype leather case here:

Cheers, Sabesh.
I wonder if the flip type PDAir case uses the same technique to keep the k-jam in place.
I prefer the not so bulky cases. using the case that came with Treo 600 atm and it fits perfectly. slightly tight but it fits in my jacket pocket a lot better than any other cases that I've tried.
I have decided to give BB 71xx pouch a try. I had to stretch it a bit in order to get my qtek a nice fitting.

I am also in a process of streching my treo 600 slip case with a pair of socks and will post some pictures tonight when I get home.
Does anyone have an IPOd 2/3rd Gen slip case? Can you please try and see if it'll fits nicely with your Wizard?
Blackberry 71xx case
Just taken delivery of this case:
http://www.yourwirelesssource.com/shop/5/model/235388/accessory/245843/cat/31
(though from a uk supplier)
Fits nice and snug, and the slightly extra height of the case (about 5mm) can allow you to attach the handsfree kit to the bottom of the phone, son can be used without removing from the case (the voice dial button is also accessible, as is the power button).
A slight negative is that the sides/top corner still have the potential to be damaged on dropping, but I guess most type of slip cases leave some parts exposed.

For those using the WIZA100 variant of the Wizard...

Got this case this AM. It is for the dopod 838 or VPA Compact II. So far so good my only gripe is that the case doesn't allow access to the messaging and ie buttons [when closed] and it is kinda slippery [maybe use it in tandem with a neck strap or handstrap]

They have one for the WIZA200 models as well

Hi guys
Just received my ali PDair case - ordered Thurs night arrived this morning, outstanding service!! A great case too!!
Simon
I heard something about Aluminium cases and low gsm signal..
Are you having that kind of experience on your ppc ;
I currently have the Htc Wizard/ qtek 9100 and i am looking for a case.
Probably i'll go for the leather one.
no signal problems for me so far been using it for almost a week now... of course signal strength is also determined by your network coverage as well not only your device
Hi
Just checked on the signal stregth, one room in my house has a very weak GSM signal for Vodaphone and when using the PDair case it drops by 1 bar.
Must be shielding

Plastic screen cover
Does the aluminum case by PDair have a plastic screen cover to protect the screen like the Armor Case by Boxwave (www.boxwave.com)?
yep they have hard plastic screen
PDAir Case
Sabesh mentioned velcro in his review of the PDAir case. Does that mean there is some 'sticky pad attachment' to be done. The case says it closes with magnets, so I can't figure out where the velcro comes in unless it's to secure the handset. if that means sticking something on to the handset then I'm not so keen. i need to be able to get the handset out easily to fit in my car kit.
TIA, Davebo.
I have been using Seidio (www.seidioonline.com) holsters for the last 2 phones I owned (Cingular 8125 and 8525). Unfortunately, they do not make one for the Polaris aka Cruise. I really like these hard plastic holsters that allow you to snap the phone into place. They are even felt-lined to prevent scratches.
Either way, I found a similar looking holster for the Black Jack phone. The Cruise jiggled a little in the holster so I took a table torch (big cigar lighter) and a pair of needle nose pliers to the holster. After about ten minutes of torching (only heat the case for a very short time), bending and rinsing (to cool it all off) I have a snug fitting case a la Seidio. It's a little ghetto but it works for now.
If anyone sees a commercially made case like the ones at seidio please let me know.
LOL ! send pics of your blowtorch job plz...
I have been looking at cases for my HD and have not had much luck. I found a Motorola Q case that was a good fit but it was ugly. I almost bought it until I found another one but it had a very strong closure magnet and I though I would ask here first to see if there was any chance of harm to the devise from the magnetic field.
Thanks, dhatw.
I buy a new kaiser belt holster to use with THD. It fits well (when the band are not stretched). Not trusting those magnet thingy next to electronics.
yeah me too dont recommend pouches with Magnetic locks. it ruined my Diamond.

Care to explain please???
Just bought a an expensive Piel Frama Leather Pouch for HD which has magnet ...
Well I have asked and searched and it seems that the opinions are split. I even spoke to HTC America and the dude said that he wouldn't recommend anything stronger than the magnet in the stylus. Now he has to say that but there might as well not be a magnet in the stylus because it is so weak. I read some where that the magnet in the speaker is more powerfull than the ones used in the cases but I do not have confirmation. I found a perfect case for the HD, it is for the Motorola Q but it has a strong (relatively speaking) magnet. I put a dinner knife on the inside of the bare case and it stuck pretty good. I am having a hard time with finding a good case that closes strongly but does not have magnets or velcro with degrades with time and sticks to everything.

I bought the new "Krussel - Orbit Flex" Case, made for HTC Touch HD.
http://krusell.se/products/1/?catid=75&productid=3622
It's a good quality and the price is okay. I got it in Germany for round about 20 EUR's, incl. tax, but it seems that krussell offers around the world. The case can be close with a little magnet at backside. Special features are the removable front lid and the multi - adapt - clip at backside.
The company give a "live-time warrenty" for this product.

Sorry for the late reply.
i bought a pouch with a magnetic closure for my new diamond. i used it for only half a day. my touch screen stopped responding from there onwards. but after couple of days it start to work again. i never used the pouch again.
also i can remember my touch dual waking up when i swipe it across the magnet and it sometimes automatically answered the phone in the process of taking out of a pouch with the magnetic closure. so i believe prolonged usage of this type of a pouch may ruin you touch screen devices. so be careful.
on the other hand I've never seen a pouch with a belt clip which doesn't have a magnet on it.. hm.. anybody have any other suggestions for a pouch without a magnet but with a belt clip??
In my quest for the perfect case I have encounterd ones with flaps that slip into straps. Like a belt end. I don't know if that came out right but basically you just slide the top flap into something. Of course there is always velcro, so long as you don't wear sweaters. I settled on a Blackberry knock off that fit the HD perfectly. It has the plastic spring loaded belt clip that I so wanted because they hold more securely than the leather covered belt clips that are on most holders. It does have a magnetic closer however and I have convinced myself after much reseaech that there is no reason to worry.
People, why all the worries about magnets. Old floppy drives are sensitive to magnets, also are physical hard drives. Neither of witch the HD has. It only has flash memory.
And apart from that, ive noticed this piel frama company making pda leather cases for quite some time now, all with magnets... guess they would be out of business right now if it destroyed all the devices that are put inside it eh
Im atleast looking to getting one of those piel frama cases.
My Pielframa have magnets i use it since 2 weeks and no problem at all.
I found one on eBay, and I know a few people here have bought cases from the same seller. I'm just wondering about the practicality of the cover flap (see attachment) that hangs down during phone calls. Probably a shallow question, but I dunno how tough the leather might be; is it easy enough to fold the flap over, or do you guys just leave it hanging down?
you just leave it hanging down....
A top flip would be better?
Here's my venture into cheap ebay cases ..
HERE
Hi,
I bought a Krussell case from first2save on Ebay and am very impressed with it... I also have a horizontal case from the seller you mention but was never happy with the belt clip.

leather case
The beauty with the Leather case with flip is that it virtually eliminates the annoying mis dialing so easy on the HTC HD as the case has a hard protector that makes it touch proof
I have a Krusell Orbit Flex from which you can remove the lid; works perfect
I currently have the Telus leather holster for my Touch Pro 2, however, I must say that this thing is a piece of crap.
I'm on my second one in ~3 months. The part that holds the clip to the holster just pulls off...
I wear the phone / holster constantly, so I need something that's going to hold up to wear-and-tear. It needs to be leather, it needs side in-and-out vertically (I've seen iPhone holsters where the iPhone slides in-and-out horizontally...which is terrible imo), and it needs to have a magnetically-attaching strap to hold the phone in place (the way I wear it, it's sometimes point down...don't want the phone just sliding out...).
To be totally honest, I LOVE the Blackberry holsters...the only thing I like about BBs, actually...
So if someone could suggest and preferably link to some high-quality TP2 holsters, that'd be great!
Thanks
It may sound silly but I have gotten my last two holsters (one for my tilt and one for my tilt2) at our local flea market. $5 for a leather holster with magnetic clasp with both a metal spring clip on the back and 2 belt loops. The nice thing about doing the flea market thing you can get a better fit in most cases.
You might check out Sena Cases or Krusell. They both make nice leather cases.
Any other suggestions?
>_>
The large pda Krussel case is the way to go. It also has a belt loop.
No sense loosing your device to a belt clip.
Only problem with it is you can't use the usb dongle.
