This is a WM6.5.1 ROM, based on the 2.08 OEM ROM and 23047 XIP/SYS from Da_G.
All it has got is the bare minimum OEMDrivers, plus a fully featured SYS (some of the SYS applications have been tweaked: removed extra screen layouts for LockScreen, removed SampleMusic etc, UPXed a few things).
The XIP has been tweaked quite heavily to get the best performance, and you should be able to add whatever you like to this ROM and it should remain stable.
Try it and see (and install whatever keyboard you feel like using).
This will probably act as the basis for some "full" ROMs afterwards.

After a quick test I noticed two things:
1. The magnifying effect is on and I'm unable to find a place where to turn it off. This is really annoying!
2. After starting Windows Live and trying to set account details, keyboard went missing and the program failed shutting it down after clicking the screen where keyboard was supposed to be.
3. Once I was unable to start File Explorer from Start menu, restarting the device helped on this matter.
So far then, stabilty isn't great. I could probably fix issues by removing the HTC IME, though then you're left with WMs crappy one....

Also Windows Media Player doesn't have enough codecs. Can you provide a link to download necessary codecs?

One bug: camera.exe doesn't work because of either no sign or missed component.
Thanks l3v5y, just so you know though the kitchen links do not work, and the rapidshare one for the kitchen just has a spelling error.
Are you sure that screen shots in post#1 is for build 23037?
Because I have not "AM or PM" in time&clock setting!
I found that Netfront browser doesn't work at all. Can you guess why it doesn't?

This is the fastest ROM I ever benchmarked. In fact: the first ROM above the 2000 points in my benchmark totals. And it's WM6.5!!!
There are a few remarks though:
- it's a very very light ROM, virtually no applications, no Manila (the latter is just fine for me, I use PointUI)
- the magnifiing thing is very annoying, almost unusable
- in some applications (like Total Commander) there's no OK/Close button anymore
- camera is not working.
But still: very very fast, a new record

I can try and make up some cabs from the OEM packs... I removed that stuff cause it's extra stuff that may not be needed by most.

Those two come from my idiocy, I forgot to include two packages (mHubVO and DirectShow) that include all the codecs for media player and Camera. I'll upload a fixed ROM and those packages for use with the kitchen.

Well spotted, the screenshots are actually from my Diamond 23034 ROM... I haven't taken any screenshots of my 23037 ROM as it's cosmetically pretty similar.

yeah, I know what you mean....but, I was always on irus, there were none that fast until michy 2.14. plus I find that michy's build was a bit better in 3D. on Irus's build I would always miss type with TouchPal keyboard with animation on because the keys wouldn't register to the system fast enough no matter how much I tried. However,I don't have ,this sort of problem with michy's build, no matter how fast I type. with michy's build TouchPal's animation is almost flawless.
to tell you the truth, I can't wait to see what irus will do with the build michy is using now that he has enough money for his phone.
whats michys build in 2.14 cause i cant found a gd 19588.1.1.4 build! i will cook a light rom with fast features and addons. i'm sure you will like it cause i got good ideas in ma mind...

First of all a short story about this ROM:
As a Charmer owner I tried all available WM6/WM6.1 ROM in this forum. All are great, but I wanted to find something like the WM6 Essential edition, but based on WM6.1. Yesterday I decided to cook my own ROM, so I selected ChrBeck's WM6.1 WWE ROM (Thanks for him!) and tried to remove all 3rd party software, but HTC applications.
I also created my kitchen (based on Molski.Biz's Wizard Kitchen - Thanks for him ).
Now, it's only a bunch of scripts, but I'll put together with a short howto and publish it here.

Instructions:
Download and run self extracting exe. This will create a directory with the ROM image and the required tools. Run Update_ROM.bat and follow the instructions on the screen (if any).

Interesting thing happens:
Installed .NETCF 3.5 in version 0.2 and selected as the default NETCF provider. The result is a significant speed gain!
The plan is to integrate NETCF into the ROM...More comes later.

I know that almost every ROM includes TF, but I wanted to create a clean and fast version of WM6.1.
Maybe once I cannot optimize my ROM any longer, I'll integrate such kind of tools.

well, still found two things from chrbeck's rom - ugly (and unusable due to missing smartdial) dialer and calc skin
but it's good rom - and a good work, go on with cleanup

I reimplemented the old SSMaPa. completly new technology.
There aren't many new features till now, but the new architecture allows further changes..
some new features
- differing between mail and sms now possible
- added some new replacements
- landscape mode fully supported
- should be working generic on all manila versions
I also added gsgetfile.dll as default file chooser for ssmaho
How to use:
- if you was using old ssmapa, do first a 'full restore' in ssmapa!
- Extract all 4 files and copy them to a folder on your phone (the folder has to stay on the phone.. I recommand /programs/ssmaho)
- run ssmahogui.exe
- click on the first button
- click on load configuration
- click on "Start INIT-Assistant"
- There are two modes, prefer the fast init, only if this is not working, choose the manila file from the slowinit box. Click on Fast Init (or maybe slow init)
- There should appear something like: "CreateProcessW offset found: 0x002d4240, ..." If that's not the case and "unknown exetype" appears, then use slow init.. In some cases you have to click 2 times... If this isn't working too, then sorry, ssmaho will not work on your device.
- click close
- click on "start assigner mode"
- minimize ssmaho (click right top corner, fast, or start -> today)
- Go back to manila
- click on every element you want to replace in manila
- there should pop up a window 'Assigner'. enable in minimum following checkboxes: Active, EXE Name, all News
---- Match condition commandline is useful for hooking sms inbox and mail inbox
- with the button "..." choose the new file
- click ok
- assign as many as you want.. windows are not working, but there are more than in ssmapa.. also landscape alignment should be working
- when you're done go back to ssmahoGUI and click on "Stop all".
- go to shortcuts, I recommand enabling all...
- click on "Save Configuration"
- click on About (or don't do it )
- close the program
- You have under programs new shortcuts: SSMaHo Attach / SSMaHo Detach. click on "ssmaho attach" and the new programs get called when working with manila.
--> You have to execute the attacher everytime manila crashes. If you use autostart it should automatically attaching after softreset, but not after a crash.
I don't think that this tool is able to destroy something on the phone. Never mind, I'm not responsible for any damages.

With version 0.0.3.0 I implemented a real inline patch (hooking a function of manila). a generic solution for smt. like this is heavy... theoretically it should work (tested on a rhodium and old manila)... but as soon as htc changes smt deep, it won't be working anymore..

Hmm, previous version of this tool used manila's files patches, I suppose, but now we have to check an autostart option... that means that you patch manila in the RAM, but not the file. Does your app hang in memory or it starts after a soft reset, patches and unloads?
Testing now... not sure if I am clear on what everything on the pop-up assignment screen does.
*edit* Ok, I think I've got it. I have successfully mapped the "time click" on XBMod's HD manila.
If I click on the call history button it brings up the call history instead of bringing up the assignment screen. I'm assuming this element cannot be mapped?

Stumbled upon your tool yesterday and read the whole thread of the previous tool, and now tried this one. But it seems there's still something going on with this manila version, your tool doesn't like.

The Rhodium port is probably manila2.exe. Haven't tried it yet, I'm just guessing.

Because I'd like to hear from others who have tried it first and hear about their experiences in case theres a major problem or other.
And now with the above posts i now know that it doesnt work with the new manila and therefore i dont have to risk messing up anything on my phone.
Hoping in the future that Rhodium/Manila2 is supported as it looks like a great app!

Try to manually attach first, see if it works, then choose to autostart.

Not working at my Touch HD... My current ROM is Touch of HD v3.4.1 and when I click at Start Assigner-Mode it gives back the error: Master failure. where the hell you put my dll in?!

This Cheetah Nld release is based on Cheetah 3.2r WWE and is completely different than the
Cheetah releases before. ljankok has altered the original Topaz manila for speed and created
a very fast WWE rom. Together we worked on the Nld version and here it is
The Dutch manila 2.5.20113030.0 contained broken text lines at several places due to bigger font,
i've changed all ( as far as i know ) lines of text so all fit the screen.

Well, thank you very much for this great ROM. It's my first, actually. One thing I noticed is that de title of the tab 'Muziek' is in CAPITALS, while the other titels only have the first letter in capital.

Well the Muziek tab in capitals is one thing i also noticed, but i noticed it in many others, think this is HTC standard.
Glad you like this rom, do come back for new releases.
Rom is great. Runs now almost a day and no bugs ar found. What i notice but i never used it before is that power point is missing. I'm happy and will ad this rom to the phone of a friend. He want only a dutch rom that is working fine.

The Rom, is very great! I love the dutch version since I do not want to play around with cabs for the T9 keyboard. I haven't noticed any bugs yet and the bluetooth is indeed working again Thanks so far and I will bookmark this page to see if there are interesting future updates.
By the way, anyone who can explain what the best way is to keep a ROM as fast as possible? I mean, what type of actions slow down the speed of the ROM? E.g. does it matter how many applications you install on the storage card or will that only matter when they always run in the background? Does the amount of contacts matter, etc etc...

all of those adds up to slow the phone down little by little, I believe (number of apps installed, number of apps installed on the storage card and what type of storage card, apps running in the background, number of contacts, numbers of text messages, etc.)... also like if the phone is searching for signal in weak spot areas while you're in the middle of an app.

Good to hear you like Cheetah 2.1 NL Actually i always want to try new releases but i think i will pass for now since i also like this one Still some things that need some attention so i`m working on it.
There's lots of thing that can slow down your rom, installing applications can, lots of messages can but i never noticed a huge amount of contacts can. But maybe that's because i only have 211 contacts listed?! For me this project is a way to create a rom version providing in basic needs so everyone can choose what they do and don't install.
A lot of applications update on regular base so installing by .cab is preffered over cooking them into the Rom. That`s why i`m using 2nd post for .cab add-ons.
I guess it's just a matter of testing things out and see what happens, if an application does slow down the rom you can always uninstall

Hardreset:
1. With the Touch Diamond2 switched off, press the volume up and down buttons simultaneously.
2. Keeping them pressed, press power button to turn Topaz on.
3. Release the volume buttons when a message flashes up to say, “This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.”
4. Press the volume up button.
Ram and Mamory:
Actually i failed to look, since my device is loaded with things i like it wouldn't be right to tell you abour Ram and Memory right now. I would say give it a go, this rom is nice and fast. Let me know how about the Ram and memory.
Or you can wait untill it's flashing time once again and i will tell.
Calibrate Battery:
1. discharge the battery completely (by playing video, audio, etc.)
2. Remove the battery and wait about 1min then place it back (do not power on the phone)
3. Full Charge the phone, wait when LEDs turns green (do not power on the phone)
4. When fully charged - remove the battery (do not power on the phone)
5. Wait about 1 min then place the battery to the phone and now you can power it on.
This is the way i'm used to do it.
When you do a search on XDA you'll find different ways to do it, all with their own pros and cons. I would say it's your choice.

Thanks for the initiative. Manila 2.5 is still way too slow and unresponsive to my liking. It's like night and day compared to a manila 2.1 ROM... Have been running Nataly 3.8 up until now, will try your ROM.

first of all i must say thank you for continuing the PRIDE series whith your AVATAR ROM as i was searching for a ROM with manila 2.1 due to the slow response of the new manila (2.5.20XX)
i've downloaded your rom and i must say its very good
but i want to ask afew things about it:
1. how can i turn the google location service on for weather updates?
2. how can i add new sounds for the alarms?
3. are u planing to cook with the newer builds of COM3/5?

1st off, thanks! I am already testing Avatar II, and it looks even better!
1. I did not cook it in, but I can in Avatar II!
2. Copy you sound file into the \Windows directory, and then set the sounds... I did not include too many sounds to make the ROM leaner
3. I sure am! But I want to perfect this build first...

I tried it and liked it! Very smooth and the interface is clean. +1 for a COM5 version!

for the alarms there is a file size limitation?
None that I am aware of....
