EMERGANCY!! I might have screwed the pooch - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

alright I went to update my phone to the new NATF_WM6.5_TP_Manila_v5.5B ROM on my HTC Touch Pro (Sprint) and it restarted . . . fine . . .
it gets to opening screen (windows mobile 6.5 HTC yada yada) it sits there for a minute and then just reboots over and over and over never getting any farther than that opening screen. . .
Please for the love of god somebody help a poor moron fix his phone!!!

try hard resting it first if that doesnt work find out how to get into your bootloader and flash a different rom

I don't know how to hard reset it without having it on. . .
Instructions say that I have to hold down the DOWN volume, center ENTER key and then soft reset all at once and that doesn't work . .
and I'm sorry I have NO clue how to put it into bootloader mode lol

well if you tried loading a gsm rom on a sprint phone you may have just bricked your phone........otherwise i suggest you try the cdma roms section for more specific help

well I've done the hard reset .. . turns out the instructions I read before were wrong. . . still same problem . . .
how do you get into bootloader mode??

nevermind I figured it out the boot loader thing. . . flashing new ROM . . . keep your fingers crossed

HAHA, omg seriously? It says only for gsm in big red letters... why?

alright my phone is back to normal . . . thank you m0nkeyf00t for your help . . .
and just to let everybody know it wasn't in any way the fault of NATF_WM6.5_TP_Manila_v5.5B
that my phone went hay wire it was because of my own stupidity that caused my phone to go into paper weight mode

lmfao yea I realized that ... consider that to be a leason to all the noobs out there READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!! lol

Perhaps NATF should change the password on the RAR file to "NOT for Sprint Verizon Alltel Telus etc"
Cheers,
Steve.

I went through this process too but a bit different...flashed a CDMS ROM on my GSM Touch Pro. Fortunately I was as lucky as you AND what's the more important is that from that moment I read everything every time I flashed a new ROM.
Everyone should go through this process to become an XDA Developer member They should have a rule:
Until you didn't almost brick your device, you are not allowed to sign up
aNYWAY, i see that everyone here is really helpful. I would have helped you too if they wouldn't have done it before me
Now you are an experienced user

I wonder why it says, "DO NOT FLASH any of these ROMs TO A CDMA Touch Pro!
(i.e Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, Telus, etc...)" at the top of NATFs thread....
anyways, welcome to the club!

Hermes Stuck While Flashing OS ROM?? Try My FIX!!!!

I am real close to confirming a FIX to at the least get MY hermes and other outta being stuck in limbo. Quick Run Down: I HAD my HERMES stuck it Bootloader Mode, well it would get stuck everytime I tried to flash the OS ROM with WM6 (the offical ROM from HTC site)The upgrade process would start, but then it would get stuck at 11% EVERYTIME!! I could get it back at all!! It was stuck in Tri Color Mode!! But a guy I know(guy I bought the Hermes from) is a MASTER at this stuff. He knew more than ANYONE here and he doesnt even use a HERMES?? Anyways I am gonna try my method 1 more time to confirm that it works!! But here is the kicker I have NO GSM after recovering from this HORRIBLE error!! So if you want ur hermes back to use the wifi at least, STAY TUNED!!
NOTE: My METHOD isnt the casuse of the NO GSM, I think I did that when i messed up flashing my OS ROM
But I do NEED to know on how to get my radio back?? I now have a NO GSM error when I turn my hermes on!! I am using the Official WM6 ROM from HTC

The reason the official ROM died at 11% is because around 11% the radio portion of the ROM (radio.nb inside the nbh file) is being flashed to the device. Simple remedy to this to get your device booting into windows mobile is to flash an OS only ROM (nearly ALL the cooked WM6 versions are OS only...but you can make any ROM OS only using duttys nbh tool). This will get you back into window mobile but your problem is that the device has a corrupted radio flash on it.
The problem, as i have already explained in your other thread about this, is that since your flash procedure was halted by you accidentally resetting the computer halfway through a flash the radio portion of the flashing process was probably interrupted and therefore you have most likely caused an irreversible corruption of the radio area.
Unfortunately for you this is probably the only way now to permanently brick your device, as in the device is no longer a phone it is a pda only......in my opinion still a brick.
As I have already explained the only thing to try is (once your device is bootable) to try and flash a radio only ROM.......if this doesnt work im sorry but you have no options, unless you can actually get physically at the chip with JTAG or some other hardware flasher.
The tone of your post in this thread, this post AND this post suggests that we on this forum have not been forthcoming to help you fix your problem......not true. And regrarding your 'Fanboys' rant earlier had you actually read the wiki and un-bricking threads you would see that ALL the info required to revive a hermes (if it is indeed recoverable) has been well documented for over a year now.
NO this method has BROUGHT me outta Tri-color mode twice already, everyone who seems to have this problem has a COMPLETELY USELESS Hermes it wont even turn on, at the leaset MY way will get u back into Windows Mobile, (it worked for me)
yes...as i said in this sentence above:
This will get you back into window mobile but your problem is that the device has a corrupted radio flash on it.

Again your device still has a corrupted radio thus isnt working correctly. Having a Tytn which has a non-existant radio is as bad as a total brick.
OKAY if AND when you are able to START the UPDATE process, meaning you see the PROGRESS BAR appear on your HERMES and ur computer. PULL THE USB CABLE AND as FAST AS HUMANLY possible hit the SOFT RESET button!!!
I mean AS SOON AS YOU SEE THE PROGRESS BAR appear on ur HERMEs, You gotta yank out the USB and HIT RESET SUPER FAST, it will shock ur HERMES and bring you back into Windows Mobile!!!!!

Please explain to us all what good that will do? Your radio area is still corrupt.
Now I dunno I have NO GSM, big deal, that is FIXABLE and I dunno if this IS the CAUSE of having NO RADIO
IF YOU WANT to at the LEAST HAVE A Hermes to BEGIN to FIX give it a try, , I have BROUGHT MY HERMES outta be stuck in TRI COLOR Mode 3 times by following this METHOD, I didnt have a GSM but I dunno what the cause of that is, you might have to flash a RADIO or whatever to get that BACK, but if you want the HERMES back to AT least play with GIVE it A SHOT
ffs, READ.....
NO GSM and an error during flash points to a PERMENANTLY dead radio area on the device...ie NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS.
when your computer was reset it resulted in a failed radio flash...dead radio. There is no way to fix this.

NO GSM.....................what do you think that means???? NO GSM shows the radio portion of the device is corrupted, the radio stack is responsible for the phone functions on the device...the GSM functions.
The directions i showed earlier are IDENTICAL to what im saying now......since it hasnt worked your device is not fixable. Booting into windows is easy to achieve but you wont be getting back the phone functions any time soon.

Here here... Well said.
The type of brick help was requested with is well documented - and while "the fix" the OP described in this post may work for him - it's more likely to cause more problems if someone innocently tries this on an unbrickable phone. Interrupting a flash is always bad advice - and a little reading up on No-GSM bricks would have been a start - or the FAQ on "getting stuck in the tricolour screen!"
There is no such thing as "shocking" a device back into life. You've been watching to much ER where they defibralate humans - doesn't work with electronics generally
There is restoring an OS image, there is (if you're lucky) recovering from intermittent bad blocks by doing a couple of flashes but it's much safer to just flash the bits you need by carefully making the .nb files required using dutties NBH tool then making your own NBH to flash containing just an OS image or just a radio image - or whatever you want to try to flash. If a flash gets stuck - it's getting stuck for a reason and that reason needs investigating before trying things which are known to cause bricks in the first place hence you strip the image down and see what flashes and what doesn't. If noobs don't recognise problem solving techniques - then they haven't read enough before trying to show off an upgraded phone to their mates and should stick to manufacturers updates only. Harsh but in my opinion true.
Sorry, I'm about to have a late night rant...
The reason many experienced users don't always reply to calls for help immediately is because all the information known is well discussed and well documented and people get tired of effectively cutting and pasting solutions to "noobies" just flashing an image not knowing what could happen and what to do if the worst happens and what to do when it all goes wrong. The front page of this forum usually has 3 requests for help on it to solve a brick issue - and generally all 3 are the same type of brick so should an experienced poster have to post the same thing in three threads? No.
Even worse - many newbies don't start with the obvious basics like flashing HardSPL or they end up with a brick and then try to unbrick it by doing so many other things that they end up with a hybrid brick and don't even know what steps they did to make it! Sadly, I feel that if people can't be arsed to read up on stuff and just want to have the very latest thing to show off with - then they deserve the brick they get (and should sell it real cheap on ebay so I can buy them up!) At the end of the day - everything on these forums should be considered experimental and non-supported. If you want full support - go to your network, HTC or Microsoft and PAY for it. If you want to join a community who loves experimenting and discussing the issues then join in, support the forum (make some donations to the good people who keep things ticking) and most importantly learn about your device.
My first upgrade was well over a year ago - and it took me about 2 months of research into de-bricking - and plenty of bookmarking - before I even attempted it so I knew what could go wrong and at least what steps to take to recover my own device if it happened.
Have I bricked my phone? - Of course while experimenting with cooking roms - I've unbricked them using others posts and the wiki here and I've never had to ask how to do it - but I have had to spend several hours reading (with lots of patience and learning a lot in the process) but at least when I flash I know the risks and don't just scream that I used <insert whatever ROM> here created by <insert poster> and it bricked my hermes therefore it must be <insert poster who released the ROM> fault. Nor to I slag off things that don't work - be it ROMs, procedures or advice.
The advice to anyone who is a noob really is to read, read and read - Do your research and know about your device before you tinker with it. Not to the level of being able to explain what each GPIO carries - but at least to understand the different parts of the device - the different images and what to do if any part of those images doesn't quite work properly (ie - bricks)
And if it does brick... DON'T DO ANYTHING until you know why it's bricked and have read the unbricking threads and the wiki. Someone WILL respond if you list what you've tried and what happened when you tried it. They don't respond to "help, I flashed xxx and it doesn't work."
The wiki and unbrick threads might be long but virtually every brick is covered and it's better to know about bricks before you end up holding one in your hand
Rant over.

Come on people some basic troubleshooting info is needed to help ...
What ROM did you flash, or what radio?
Willing to bet if your phone is a TMOUS you flashed an asian, HTC or EU ROM to it with a x.xx.51.x radio, if that is the case, welcome to brick city ...
BTW, piece of advice, choose a better title for your threads, you might get a better response, just screaming for help tends to be frowned on ....

[Q] white screen htc diamond 2 t5388i clon chinese [help me]

Good
Searching the internet I came here to change the rom of my phone, use the hard reset and did not have any problem in the process, then asks me to restart the phone, restarted, and when a screen turns white and does not come out of it, no more than anything.
I'm a little desperate now, I know there is a high-value mobile but it cost me to raise the money to buy it, I hope you have a solution and can help me.
From already thank you very much
PS: sorry for my bad English, I am South American
Sounds like you flashed and incompatable ROM or didn't use hard_spl either way go over to the htc official website - click support find your device and it will list some stock ROMs download an official ROM using the S/N from underneath the battery - Make sure the battery has plenty of charge - plug into your PC and load the stock htc ROM file this should take you through all the standard ROM flash info and will then flash the stock ROM onto your device. Hopefully this will flash back to stock for you and no more white screen.
Good luck and let us know how it went

sorry missed the clone bit on your topic . I don't have a clone myself so no ideas if the hard reset works. Might be a good idea to post which ROM you flashed to it

HTC_NEW, please check this topic. It's dedicated to the clone phones (except the T5388++ who has it's own topic)
There is a tool called k3AID available who could help you. It's posted in that topic about 50 posts ago. I have a copy if you need it.
There is also another possibility to do a blind flash. This means the screen is not working but the phone can still be flashed. First thing is get the correct firmware for your phone because each time you flash the phone can get bricked / defect.
If my feedback helps you to solve your problem, please give me a thanks on the post.

@HTC_NEW: Did you do the following steps according to reeprich instructions? What was the end result?
I did read that you used the calibration menu but I expect that you should use the download firmware menu. Is that available? ( I had the software installed but my virus scanner complained that there is a virus in the tmp file...) What's more important if your phone does not work anymore... Please be aware that this is a possible virus.
Removing the battery for a couple of minutes can help for restarting the phone.

[Q] HD2 WSOD - Bootloader available but barely

Hello Experts,
I have a HD2 with SPL1.42.0000.
Earlier I had HSLP208 on my phone and I was running Android from NAND for a day or 2 when I ended up with the WSOD.
I have the ship ROM which I successfully flashed from SD card but WSOD persists and when I try to reflash the ship ROM I am getting the update fail error. I also tried flashing HSPL, HSPL2 and HSPL3 but windows throws a critical error as if the connection was lost. I have also been unsuccessful with gold card ship ROM flash.
Since then I have been searching for a solution but in vain. I can still enter the bootloader but I cannot flash anything including HSPL.
I understand that MTTY or any other method of TASK29 requires HSPL so Im pretty much stuck.
Is there any other way I can fix this issue? Im so very eager to use my phone again with android on it but
All help is greatly appreciated.
Don't feel so bad, I've got hspl and still have the same problem. Winmo sucks anyways. If the hd2 I'm trying to fix was mine? Id shoot myself and then go buy a mytouch 4g lol
A month after the initial post and I get one reply . . Fubar says it!!
I think i will have to digest the fact that all "experts" have looked at this and chose not to answer or even make a recommendation or there is probably too much on these forums these days that its hard to follow or prioritize . .
either ways . .fubar says it!!
So did you get a fix? I have the same problem but can't even flash the stock ROM from SD as the grey screen just hangs at Loading... lol.

Nope .. nothing yet . . every promising search is leading me to JTAG but then again JTAG is the last resort .. you know like for a bricked phone and moreover it comes at a price (around $200) and also has limited sources of information online.
If i can only load HSPL on it I could care less about winmo and load android on NAND . . the problem with HSPL 2/3 is that it causes the WMDC services to stop before completion
Im sure this not a dead end .. its just a blind spot as of now . . im not giving up just yet
Oh yeah . . about your set hanging at loading . . thats probably because your NBH is corrupt . . I would try a different stock ROM until i reach the flash menu if I were you . . but im guessing you have already tried that

No boot or recovery

Hi everyone,
Complete Noob here, and not proud of it.
I've been searching through your awesome forum now for the past few days trying to get an answer to a problem I have with my GT-I9300, but unfortunately i just seem to keep coming up with more and more problems. So begrudingly I have come to beg for help in the form of a new thread.
I had the phone running rooted with CWM and Cyanogen 10.1 with a fair amount of problems, it kept locking up.
So i was advised one of the best solutions would be to use a more stable version of Cyanogen so re flashed with 9. It worked pretty brilliantly up until some apps were updating and it just completely froze, at the time this was not a strange occurance because of the previous freezing issues i had. So i just restarted the phone.
I then get a message that the firmware has become corrupted and i need to re-install emergency firmware with Kies, tried this. nothing happened.
It has now come to only allowing me to boot into download mode, if i attempt a standard boot, or a recovery boot it goes into a white screen, which almost looks like static on an old analogue TV.
I am at my complete end with this phone, I have tried many re-flashes and versions of PDA files via ODIN and nothing has worked, I always seem to get a PIT Partition error.
I have now been trying to get this to work for at least 20 hours of my life and its finally enough, I would just be incredibly thankful if someone could let me know the problem and if there is a solution to this, I am yet to find anyone else suffering with this white static picture on boot.
When i boot into download mode, i get the red ODIN MODE setting, no product name, no custom binary download, the current binary is 'Samsung official' and the system status is custom.
I have tried reflashing to samsung stock, and that even fails.
Many thanks in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Agreed.
Please people, don't go back to ICS! It is unable to prevent your eMMC from death.
