it sounds like handset volume is too low on my phone but i'm still not sure yet since i've only had the phone for 2 days. it's definitely lower than the htc incredible's handset volume by a decent amount. there is also a very slight hiss but i think that's normal.
i bought the optimus t on ebay so i won't be able to take it to t-mobile and get it exchanged for a new one. i've been trying to search for a root solution to make it louder but i can't find anything. the one solution i have found was only for samsung android phones. any ideas on what i should/could do?
You mean the earpiece volume while on call or the speaker phone ergo the ringer?
Both are realised thru the same speaker. While the earpiece volume is pretty high, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. Its a bit shrill and piercing. Strangely enuf the same speaker performs very nicely for music playback!
You sure you maxed out the volumes?
i mean the phone's earpiece. i have no problem with any of the other volume levels and i have made sure i maxed out the volume for everything and then i'm going to see if they are too loud after a couple of days and adjust them accordingly.
is anyone else having to deal with low In-Call volume? sometimes when i talk on the phone whether it be on speaker or off it just sounds really low, is there anything i can do about it?
yea mine is not loud enough. and speaker phone is pretty much useless.
I'm used to an iPhone, this thing at max only goes to 2/3 of what an iPhone does, I've tried things like Volume+ and it doesn't do anything only make the music distorted and unlistenable not actually any louder. Now I appreciate I'm gonna get "I can't listen to it at full volume" replies, but I am saying its no where near the volume of an iPhone. Its ok in quiet environment but outside or at work any ambient noise is clearly heard over the top, its a real let down for me this and to be honest it can be smart to launch missiles but if I can't hear my music I couldn't care less what else it can do.
your doing it wrong
50% volume level fine indoors for me 70% outside .
A large number of same questions re the sound have been asked a search amongst them will find some sound improving tips .
jje
I'm running stock still and at around 70-80% volume with my iems, you already can't hear any ambient noise at all outside or in a train. Maybe try changing your headset for something else.
The earphones that came with this phone are pretty loud, even with ambient noise, if it's not loud enough for you, you may have hearing damage from listening to music loudly for long periods of time
I thought about the hearing damage but then how do we explain the ambient noise? The stock headphones are nasty, mine sound very muddy, I am using Sennheisers but doesn't make any difference.
Had the exact same issue on my Desire S previously.

I don't think this is the issue, sound quality is a different complaint from sound volume, your complaint thus far is about sound volume, and everyone who has replied thus far has said that this phone is pretty loud, I for one cannot listen to this phone at max volume with the stock headphones.
If your complaint is about SQ, then you should make that clear, so, if the volume is too low when maxed, you should maybe compare using another pair of ears or even better, another SGS2, if the issue is SQ, it has already been stated that this is a drawback when compared to the first SGS which had a superior sound processor
On calls sometimes I can't hear the other person.
Sometimes they can't hear me well, too quite.
I've push the volume up arrow all the way to the max.
Is there anything else I can try?
2nd.
I see lots of audio boost mods for speakers and headphones but to me, it's volume in-call that is too low at times where you're surrounded by noise.
I don't think so it's only where your surrounded by noise. The people I'm talking to have a hard time listening to me in quiet environment. I
I'm getting this weird audio issue starting just a few days ago. It will suddenly ignore my volume settings and go to max volume. Even if I'm in the middle of something like watching a video in class on silent, it will suddenly switch to full blast volume without warning. However, the audio is extremely distorted beyond recognition so it is just very loud garbled white noise.
Any ideas?
I have an issue with audio as well but it's different in that when I lower volume to mute you can still hear the sounds play at very low volumes (have to place ear next to speakers to really hear it). I'm wondering if that's your case as well.

I've thought I've heard that too a few times but I usually shrug it off that it was just in my head. That's very different from the issue I'm posting about though.
