mobile network: hard to activate - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I dont know if anyone has the same bug as mine? Whenever I switch from wifi to mobile internet (3g) or turn it on, i found it hard to be activated. I dont see the sign (H or G) on the top bar. Then to make it activated i have to either switch to airplane mode and then switch back to previous mode or go to settings, wireless control, mobile network settings, operators, and choose select automatically.

Im running Airtel with my CM wolf rom.
I can use both 2G and 3G without any issues.
Check if your sim supports that.Older sims have problems in receiving signals.Suggest you to take a new sim with same number and try.
make sure your area has a 3g coverage of airtel... and make sure you manually make your phone to use 3g network... for that
just
1. got to any homescreen.
2. long press and select widgets.
3.select power control
4. select the toggle switch for 2g/2g
5. go down, down down
6.In chose network modes select 2g/3g only
7.press ok
8. now press the 2g/3g toggle till it displays 3g.
and youre done...
if this dosent helps or you are not getting any network for long time then sorry dude your area is not 3g enabled..!!
HIT THANKS BUTTON IF HELPED..!!
In settings> wireless & network settings > mobile network > uncheck "use 2G network only"
Hope this helps...

[Q] How to turn off 3g and turn on 2g on Android 2.3.3

Hello everyone,
How can I easily turn off 3g and on 2g on android 2.3.3? I'm on Wolfbreak's ROM which works perfectly, but when I'm not actively using my phone I would like to set it to use 2g only.
When I googled I found this way, but I'm hoping for a more easy solution:
1. Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2. Phone informatie
3. Set Preferred Network Type:
- GSM only = 2g
- WCDMA preferred = 3g
Does anyone know a more easy way to set my phone to 2g?
Hi there, go to settings ----> wireless & networks -----> Mobile Networks -----> Network Mode. Hope that helps.

It helps, a lot easier! ;-) In previous Android version you could turn off the 3g box, I couldn't find that one!
Hi,
i use the app Quick Settings for turn on and off
greets
I read everywhere that since 2.3.3 switching between 2g and 3g is not possible anymore, all the switch apps only place shortcuts to the settings menu.
The only one that really has this feature is a CM ROM.
Is there any way on a rooted non CM ROM to place a widget that can switch between 2g and 3g just by pressing it?

3G/HSDPA/WCDMA Only (Switch/Widget)

I'm looking for a widget which turns the phone into 3G/HSDPA only mode.
I want this as my phone mostly locks itself into GPRS (2G/2.5G) mode in my area where 3G is available but often low signal strength. Usually I switch it by going through the menu.
Settings --> Wireless & networks --> Mobile networks --> Network Mode (and switch it from "GSM / WCDMA auto" to "WCDMA only"
Is there anyway to do this through a widget? Like the widgets that let you turn on and off bluetooth/wi-fi. I've looked through android market and haven't found anything yet. Does one exist if not is it not to difficult to make an app that does this.
you can try netswidget, Switch Network Type 2G / 3G, or Network Switches

[Q] Problema 2G / 3G Selection

I've a Galaxy Ace flashed with CM7.2 RC1.
I always have the Wi-Fi turned on and also the Mobile Data, so when I'm at home I use the Wi-Fi connection, but when I'm out I have access to the Network Internet.
My problem is that my mobile is often marking the option "Use Only 2g networks". So mannualy I disable this option, but few minutes later the option is marked again...
Do you know why is this happening? Is really annoying cause when I'm out im just having 2g internet...
Note: In my GSM/UMTS preferences I'm current usin GSM/WCDMA (WCDMA preferred), but I also used the GSM/WCDMA (auto-mode), and happened the same.

[Q] Changing preferred network operators?

I was wondering if there is a way to permanently select a operator?
My network operator (Play) allows free roaming on other carriers inside the country (Orange, Plus, T-Mobile)
I get horrible signal in my work and at home with my "home" carrier and I always roam on one of the others. But I have to manually select that network and every so often I get a "refreshing SIM" message and it switches back to my home carrier (Play) which then gives me 0 bars. I then have to go into settings and select a roaming partner all over again (and this happens at least 2x/day)
Is there a way (either by editing a file/deleting a file or some app) that I can force my phone to only and always roam and not connect to my home network?
pssss.... there is top secret solution... when you will be in the roaming range, go to mysterious hidden menu, called: Settings.
Then, in the section called Network, go to the Mobile networks sub section.
When you'll be there, you possibly would find the most hidden secret feature: Network operators selection mode.
when you will enter this one, you can choose between manual and automatic operator selection.
Please do not populate this advice, is for highly advanced users only, and because of that it is hidden so deeply... in the secret document called: Owner Manual.
haha funny. But if you read my post you'll see I do manually select the network, but it still kicks it over to the home network every day.
if you unticked auto mode, it should not switch back...

I did but it clicks back when there is some "refreshing sim data"
I looked more about the operator and it seems others have this issue with their android phones. It seems the operator forces a network update (I guess to cut down on their fees they pay to the other providers)
So my option would be somehow removing the home operator from the list of operators that the phone can connect to (if there is such a list) or some app that forces to only go on certain networks that I pre select. Nothing is set in the network providers as auto, everything is on manual.
Or of course change providers (but I'll have to see what the canx policy is)
