Is there a way to only show contacts with phone numbers? Right now it shows all my google contacts when I want to specific a specific group that I have setup on google contacts or just ones with phone number. You can do this with OEM Android. Is it doable on HERO? If not this is really annoying.

Frustration is growing by a second as I researched my issue only finding similar questions raised without much answers...
I'm hoping someone here would be able to help me out on this.
I'm upgrading from a HTC Hero to a Galaxy Nexus. I want to transfer all my contacts from my old HTC to the new phone. I used Google Sync.
I never had the habit of syncing contacts to the PC; hence my GMail contact list was pretty much empty to begin with.
On the HTC, i exported all the contacts into the SD card as VCF file and went to GMail and imported that file into my GMail.
Then, it seems like it only grabbed a portion of the contacts into Gmail but at the same time, deleting most of my phone contacts in my HTC! The contact list on the phone only has facebook contacts and their emails, the phone numbers (not all of them for some very odd reasons) are gone.
In the call history, the caller of past calls had became "Unknown caller" rather than their names.
In the SMS history, the author of the messages had became the phone numbers rather than their names.
I guess I could get some of the phones back by manually figuring out which number belongs to who depending on the content of the texts but it does seem like the numbers lost the linkages to the names after syncing.
Is it possible at all to get my contact list back?
Another thing I tried doing was to use the original HTC Sync. It seems like it did its syncing but where do these contacts go on the PC? I checked Outlook and clicked contacts only to find about 20 contacts in there; my phone list definitely had way more than that.
What is going on...someone please spark me some new years hope...

I've been using android device for about 3 years now and recently got a Nexus 4. I'm trying to figure out how to make my Google contacts as my primary contacts so that when I add other accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked, etc, I want to sync contacts in my other accounts that are on my Google contacts only. I don't want any other contacts on other accounts to be downloaded. Is this possible?

I don't have it in front of me and tried a couple of different version of OS, but if I'm not mistaking if you go in the settings under your contacts (or maybe in accounts) and you should be able to select with contact/account to show. Personally I only have my google account so I only show those contact but if you have ie. facebook you can also choose to show those contacts as well. Or even only contacts with phone number so in this case I don't get all the contacts in you inbox.
You can also try my favorite app that can be highly customized. Go Contacts...

Thanks. I guess you were right about the option to select which account is shown in the Phone app. I guess my problem was in the Viber contacts. I had the setting to Show All Contacts unchecked because it shows all contacts from LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter which are not on my Google. I noticed that only the Starred in Android are shown if I had this setting. I could set all my Google contacts as Starred in Android but maybe there's another way of doing this.

So I had a Google account register with my old msn email, but I decided to delete this Google account and register for a new one with Gmail, thinking that my contacts are preserved on my phone, but I switched off Sync function just in case. Somehow though, my contacts got removed from Contacts app. but they are still on the phone cause if I run the dialer app and punch in the first few numbers of any phone number that I remember, the app offers contacts suggestions, and I find the name and number of the contact I'm trying to call.
How can I get these contacts back and store them again on Contacts app?

I'd try another Contacts app like Go or exDialer and see if they show up there. If so, you should be able to export them via Vcard and then go back to the main Contact app and import it. If that doesn't work, it might be helpful to list which phone you have and on what update it's on in case there is something more specific to that phone/update that might need to be done.
Can someone tell me how to remove accounts from showing in the dialler. At the moment it is showing my email contacts there also and I just want to to my Google phone contacts.

Still can't figure this out. If I go to contacts via the contact icon all is fine and shows just my Google account phone numbers there which is what I want however if I go into the dialler icon and swipe over to contacts it shows all email contacts s etc from other accounts.
The contacts app from the S9+ lets you move contacts.
I needed this because I had some contacts in my google account as well as in the phone.
I noticed this when I went to edit such a contact, on the top of the screen I had two buttons, one for showing the information saved in the phone and another one for information in my google account.
I wanted to get rid of the contacts in the phone, so I choose the option to move the contacts.
If I go to edit such a contact I do not see the two buttons anymore, instead my google account is displayed on the top notifying this is a google account. So far, so good.
But when I choose to see the phone contacts I still have the same 62 contacts from phone in the list as I had before. Although it shows those 62 contacts with their google information and if you edit them, you're editing the google info.
How can I get rid of those 62 accounts in the list, some information does not seem to be moved.
