Can't make payment via Android Marker - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As mentioned in the CoPilot thread, I want to buy the app and trial it for 24hrs while I'm in Devon and Cornwall - because if it works well here it should work just about anywhere.
But the payment won't work. It asks me to enter cars details - fine - but then says "A server error has occurred. Retro, cancel or return to previous screen to try again." It doesn't matter where I do this - it always fails.
Have tried editing details via Google checkout but that won't work either. And only web access via Hero.
Also no joy trying to buy from a reseller because pricing seems to be double for only UK coverage.
Is this a bug or does anyone have a fix?
Thanks
SC

go to checkout.google.com on your PC and register the card there. make sure to log in using the google account used on your phone.
Of course, if you have a card that is not supported, like Maestro, then it ain't gonna work...
i suspect that google checkout is blocked by your network. you're gonna need to find a PC that is not using your phone as a modem!
job done.

Hmm, that's what I figured because Google Checkout wasn't finishing its session via Hero.
I guess I'll have to wait til we're home, unless I can find an internet cafe.
Cheers

Live Mesh

Live Mesh is now available for Windows Mobile - cab is here: http://m.mesh.com/install/wm6/LiveMesh.cab
Also, Mesh has progressed from a Community Technology Preview limited Beta to a public Beta.
I've been using Mesh for a while and personally I really like it. I was very much looking forward to having it on my phone (Athena x7510 with 16 GB storage).
And here's the problem: despite installing and connecting OK, I keep getting an error message saying my phone couldn't be added to my Live Mesh.
Anybody else have a similar experience?
I have tried on my Diamond and get the same error message......oh well!
Cheers
Aidan
I found this thread, which discusses exactly what we're experiencing (just love the way they say this happens "in rare occurances" after a string of people reported the same error!):
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/...d/c7ce844c-a4e3-4be4-838d-1ebdca5986e7#page:1
Got it working now. This is what I did:
It would fail on adding my phone to Live Mesh when connected via the phone itself, so I plugged it into my PC and it went past the "adding phone idetifier" part.
It then failed with an error stating that only a limited number of users are allowed. I tried a few times but couldn't get past this point.
On the site they state it is currently limited to residents of the US or the UK - being a UK resident I didn't see why it'd fail. Still, clicking on the UK link each time would give me an error message, with the URL including IneligbleUser. Just to see if it would make a difference, I clicked on the US link and it went through without error.
Next I tried Mesh again on my phone, but without being plugged into my PC and it went through.
Seems to be working now, and I quite like the idea of photos auto-syncing between my handset and PC!
I think we can build a few interesting apps using Live Mesh as a foundation.

Thanks for the tip. However, I can't get to work...what link are you talking about? I don't see a US or UK link anywhere.... And yes, I am in the US.
Go to one of these on your desktop and then access http://m.mesh.com from your mobile.
US link: https://www.mesh.com/Web/Promo.aspx?pcode=Mob_FCFS1
UK link: https://www.mesh.com/Web/Promo.aspx?pcode=Mob_FCFS12
Thanks,
Got is installed. Not quite sure how I get it to start syncing up tho. Doesn't seem that the interface is very intuitive...
I presume I should be able to do folder syncronisation some how? Anything else?
Cheers
Aidan
Thanks, man.
I'd signed up for the beta of Live Mesh a while back, but never really did anything with it. This will make it a much more useful service, at least for me.
On my diamond after I managed to sign up, I have not been able to actually get it to do anything. I get a white screen then it bombs out.
The issue is on the mesh forums with no update as yet....
Cheers
Aidan
I've set Mesh on my Athena to sync the folder where photos taken are saved, and I've set the sync options to auto-sync on local changes.
It synced fine while connected via USB, but a mobile sync seems problematic.
Hope it is sorted soon, because I like the idea of auto-syncing photos. Also, it means I can raise a provisional invoice for clients and have the data synced with my office systems.
OK, got it working! I have to say I love this! Its like having a roaming profile wherever I go. I really couldn't be happier. MS finally did something right. If this is a hint as to how awesome WM7 is going to be... I can't even imagine. I'm all for new UI, but I really want better usability and more functionality.
I think the people must be carefully about that, now it's just a beta test, but later will require the payment of charges...!!!

[Q] New Yorker Galaxy Tab Edition

Hi all,
The New Yorker magazine has a Galaxy Tab edition of their app and I was wondering if there's ANY way to get this app for an Android phone. Surely there must be an .apk somewhere?
Any help would be awesome. Thanks!
I'd been looking for the APK, too. I found it last night and installed it on my ViewSonic G Tab (w/Vegan Gingerbread) and after a bunch of application errors, finally got it to work. I loaded the onto my Droid 3, but haven't gotten it to work.
It is a laborious processes with multiple downloads and registrations.
Go to www'nextissue'com/instruction'html# (replace ' with . - I'm not permitted to post outside links yet) At the bottom of the instruction page is a "Try downloading again" link that will start the download of the Next Issue (NI) apk.
Once you get the Next Issue app installed, you'll have to create an NI account.
With that installed go to the NI Store inside the app and click on The New Yorker (TNY) sample issue. In the new window, select the "Digital Upgrade" button.
You'll then have to enter your subscription information from your TNY mailing label. Once that is verified by NI, you'll be prompted to download the TNY/NI app.
After the TNY/NI app is installed you may have to input your NI login information again.
Then, the TNY issue has to be downloaded on to your device via the TNY/NI app.
When the download is done, you should be able to enjoy TNY on your phone/tablet.
Hope that helps.
Ok, so essentially, I'll still need a digital subscription. I wish there was a way to know it would work with my mytouch4g before paying for a whole year subscription.
there are sample issues to download and preview, though you may have to enter credit card info for the sample -- says you won't be charged if you cancel w/in 30 days.
try to download the apps, of you get that far and everything is working, then the magazines will probably work.
It seems like some print/mail subscriptions include the free digital subscription and others are additional $. I have print subscriptions for New Yorker, People and Esquire. After I entered my subscription numbers, only Esquire asked for payment info.
The New Yorker is working well on my tablet. The site says it's "optimized" for the Samsung Galaxy and Moto Xoom. People had a video that wouldn't play inside one of the articles so it may be that some features won't work on "non-optimized" devices.
Well, what I'm hoping for is to be able to pay to read it on my mytouch 4g and on my CM7 Nook color.
Does anyone have the apk for this? I tried to install TNY on my xoom using the NI Store and couldn't find the app listed. Their support folks then told me that it has only been released for the lower resolution devices so far.

Download from Market to PC

Hello,
I am currently floating around in the Atlantic with an incurable case of boredom. My ship does not have wifi or any hope of coming close to a domestic cell tower anytime soon. I would love to be able to download apps from the market or another source so I can transfer to my personal laptop and then to my T-mobile G2x to stave off this dreadful condition. Any help would be MOST appreciated!!!
Try this

Or just look for apks on google, they are out there.
Also what kind of internet does your laptop have, satellite?
I am on a US Navy ship and we get our connection over satellite.
www.freewarelovers.com/android
All freeware and has a lot of apks just download transfer and install.
Sorry i dont get it, am i missing something.
If you have internet access you can download anything from the Android market and it installs directly to your phone. ie/ google the android market, login with your gmail account and it will detect what phones you have with a gmail email logged in.
Then simply browse, find the app you want and click install, select your phone and then it will automatically install on your phone (as long as it has some kind of internet access).
So unlike other websites, there is no need to copy, paste, or transfer anything.
Sorry if i missed the point, i assumed thats what you were asking???
He does not have internet access on his phone (i assue the satellite connection is strictly wired on the ship). So answers above above are the answer. Google will ultimately be the best place but alternate markets should also be checked out. Cant think of te name right now but if anyone knows the market that yongzh moved his emulators too, i believe they offer direct to pc ownload for ree and paid. Im not sure though so dont blame me f im wrong

The phone itself needs to be connected to a data network for that to work.

[28.02.2012] Google Music Services outside the U.S. and get the free music

A few days ago I managed to activate Google Music although not living in the U.S..
All we had to use a proxy service Hide my IP (trial version is enough) for the activation only. Since that time I used the service without problems.
After this you can upload up to 20.000 songs on the Google servers and listen on the phone by using Google Music from the market (use Google Enabler whit an USA operator setting) by streaming if you have a WI-FI network available or a good data plan, or make available for offline playing.
The second interesting thing that you can acces you music from any computer that is connected to the internet (I have a notebook, a netbook, a PC and the good old DEFY and... for me is very important to have is all in one place).
The only downside is that you do not have access to Google Music Market.
To put songs on the server you need Google's Music Manager you can find on the main page or the attachments.
If you have questions I will respond as quickly as I can.
Update 28.02.2012
I managed to "buy" all the free songs.
Whit the proxy program active I introduced a valid credit card number and a valid adress from US (search on google about both).
The first time I have an error that my credit card was not accepted but after that i could add all the 50 free song to my Google Music library.
If you want another program for the proxy PM me.
Hit the Thank button if you like it.
How do you mean for activation only? I activated it from a proxy. It asked me to confirm my account as I logged in from a different location. When I try to go to music.google.com without the proxy, it tells me I need to be in the USA.

Very strange. I have activated for me and my friend and it worked.
I attached a print screen to confirm it.
I found something. The market appears my phone is AT & T network America.
And my friend as he appears the same.
I hope i am not the only lucky guy. That's why I posted here.
If anyone has succeeded please post.
Ok, tried it again. You need a proxy with fully working scripts as I didn't get the accept licence window.
Now I can open it without proxy. Using the program you suggested worked. You can buy songs if you use a proxy. I tried to buy the free song but apparently you need to have a credit-card in your wallet for 'account verification'. It's a bit fair, but Y no paypall...

Yeah, i don't want to give my credit card details to Google. Can't trust them they already know too much. It's a shame we can't use paypal
Sent from my 1Ghz CM7 + CM9 Defy
The music uploaded by the user is max 20.000 songs.
I wrote the first post that does not work and music store, only to upload a large number of songs that you can access them wherever you are and I think it's cool.
It is worse than that. They want a US credit card to let you buy Music on Android Market. If you try to use a credit card from another country, you get a prompt to add another credit card to your account.
Yes, I know, music market is not working, I wrote in first post. Google only accepts payments only by card and because it is a U.S. only service card must be in U.S..
I personally have made payment whit a credit card in the Market for some applications and had no problems. I trust google
I can't see songs on my defy
Thanks! using hide my IP I just uploaded my music to Google Play but I can't see it on Google Music Play app on my defy phone, what I have to do?

[Q] Store access

Hi
I am using the Lumia 920 in the UAE (United Arab Emirates). There are numerous apps i wanna buy, but I cannot access them coz the market says its not available for your market. Is there a way around it? I really need to buy some apps I wanna use !
Nobody can help me out here? Isnt there any way I can access and install the necessary apps?

I'm not sure if this is still true (worked for WP7), but if you create a Microsoft Account and have your location as one of the other markets (say US or UK) and login to your phone using this account, you should be able to see all the apps.
Of course, it would be a pain if you're already setup since you'll have to start over with this account as your main account.
Might be worth a try.
That wont work coz I need to give a mobile number to send SMS and to activate the market

I live in Germany but I could set up an US Microsoft Account for my Lumia 920 no problem.
I didn't have to provide any mobile number and for the free apps I didn't even had to provide an US address.
But maybe it worked so hassle free for me because I set up my US account on my computer first (which is routed through an US based VPN connection) and then just logged in on the phone (which [for now] still has a German IP address since WP8 unfortunately doesn't support VPN yet) using that account I did set up before.
I even managed to add my German Visa card to my US Microsoft account so that I can now even buy payed apps in the US store no problem - that was a little bit more tricky though. If you're interested in how this can be done let me know but it might be a little risky since it involves entering an "incorrect" postal address and I can't take any responsibility of course.
Today I figured out that I can even download apps from the German store with my US account by just chancing the "Country/Region" in "language+regions" settings to Germany. I downloaded several apps this morning and they sill work after changing the country back to "United States". Haven't tried if I could buy payed apps from the German store so far though.

What is your location? Never heard of having to sending an SMS to activate store.
I am in the UAE. I believe it is coz I activated the acc on the phone. I will try to create another ms account and set the country to the US.
But before that I need to get access to a US VPN. My current VPN is UK based
Then I realised that I cannot do this yet, till Whatsapp is officially avaialble back on the market. I was one of the few lucky that downloaded on 920 and still use it daily! If I reset the phone now, I will loose whatsapp and will not be able to install it again !
Unless there are other ways...... to remove the current MS Account and activate the phone with another MS account.
