I've noticed on the newer based rom kitchens the left soft key function in phone app of "contacts" is gone and replaced by "hide keypad". How can I modify the .sys or to restore it to "contacts" so I can scroll through my contact using my preferred app of random access. Also when used with M2D you lose the today screen contact tab as well making it very difficult to get easy access to contacts. I know you can press the hide keypad and it shows the recent calls and contacts but I hate using it that way and prefer the old contact left soft key. I have two phones afflicted by this a titan running dcd 3.26 and a vogue running a base of 20748. I use the touch and vogue dialers and on older based rom the hide keypad wasn't there but is on new ones using the same dialers. I'm asking here as I have received no useful answer at ppcgeeks.

The reason the left soft key no longer bring up "true" contacts is due to the switch to a touch dialer. The touch dialer incorporates "smart dialing" which allows you to spell out the contacts name using the onscreen dial pad. Once you get this down you will no longer want the old method.

You can do that with the MR1 dialier, which has left softbutton as "contacts". I don't think the two features are directly related.
Tried using different dialers and my conclusion is that its the .sys not smart dialing nor the dialers as I tried making roms with and without smart dialing and used several different dialers the true touch one and then the old one from the ppc kitchen from 10/07 which would show the contacts tab on a older .sys base rom. I tried using the phone.dll and the phone redist from an older pre 20k sys which the same dialer gave the contacts tab and the rom built with no error just the phone app would fail to intialize as you couldn't bring up any dial pad.
I actually started thread about this at ppc but it has to do with the fact that all of the diamond sys ports are not true whole sys ports there are some modules in the redist folder in the sys that you have to change and a couple in the baselang folder .... in the past I have done this but here lately I haven't really worried about it .... you could always just find the newest qvga build and port it

That "Hide Keypad" was annoying the sh*t outta me as I couldn't get smartskey to work properly. After reading the thread above it assured me nothing I was doing would get rid of the Hide Keypad option so now I'm living with it.. LoL..

Please tell me someone has figured out how to make the Reply/ReplyAll softkey the Delete key instead. All other mail main screens have delete as the softkey, but for whatever reason they don't think that you want to delete sms messages. The reply softkey only takes you to the same place that selecting it with the main button does; so why have two keys with the same function on a device with few keys to begin with. This is driving me crazy!! I get system alerts all day long and I don't need to open the message to read the whole thing before I delete them. I can't be the only one annoyed by this.
Are you talking about being able to delete it from the HTC touchflo front end? If so, when you pull up the message with out opening it and you see it in the TF3D front end, just touch the menu button, and the delete option is there.
No, not the manila/TF3D interface, but the native messaging interface.
i too would rather have a delete soft key rather than a reply button. back when i used my mogul i think this was the case when it had gone through dcd rom stages 2-3. the delete button ended up changing to reply as it is now and id really like it back
Anyone figured this out yet? I had this same with my Hermes and now I have the TP and it has reply. Its really useless. Anyone figured out a .cab or a registry edit key yet?

its hard coded into the tmail.exe...i have made a script for myself that will delete on one click from my home key...i just simulated the actions through mortscript...
So there is no .cab out there that will just change the "reply" to "delete" for me since i am using the Stock ROM instead of cooked roms?
Guess i'll have to learn mortscript now.

mortscript is pretty basic scripting...here is my script and the program itself...also the instructions on how to use it...you can use my script for reference...hope this helps!!
changing the reply softkey to delete in htc maple/snap/dash 3g
having the same issue. the softkey in all modes except text/multimedia is 'delete.' in text/multimedia it is 'reply.' driving me nuts in an understatement. it was 'delete' in the previous version. is there a registry hack for this? or, barring that, a mortscript that will accomplish the change? thanks.
Is there any app or way to change the soft keys for each touchflo 3d tab? Like under the people tab thare is the "all people" on the left and the "menu" on the right. I would like to change the all people from going to contacts to going to pocketcm. Is there any way of going about this? Changing some other soft keys would be nice as well.

Thanks, already tried that one, only lets you change the right and left soft keys on the home tflo3d tab. I want to change the soft keys on any of the other tflo3d tabs like people, or messages, and programs. Any one else with any ideas?

No they used the word "each" before the word tab so they phrased the question correctly. "each tabs" or "each tab?"

It has to be doable because people mod the reply button all the time. If you can mod that then you shoudl be able to mod anything, right? Possibly a hex editor for exe files? I hope so bad its not hard coded but you never know.....

I'm also looking for something like this. With touchflo3d turn off, the home screen left soft button will be "calendar" by default, but when you have a reminder/notification, it switches to "notification" "reminder", etc.
when touchflo3d is enabled on the home screen, this button becomes controled by tf3d, and while you can customize the button, it no longer becomes context sensitive - I find we have to hit the icons at the top bar (live msg, reminder, etc). these little icons are a bit hard to hit. ANyone know if the tf3d homepage soft button can become a 'notification' popup activation button?

Just a quick update
I switched to a new rom last night from 'aruppenthal', 'RRE HTC Fuze ROM Ver 4.5 Special Edition" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467592), and it seems that this has a different behavior from my previous rom "PROven_ROM_WWE".
in any case, my tf3d home page now has "calender" and "contacts" as the lower soft buttons, and my reminders are coming up and seem to be changing the lowerleft softkey to "dismiss". I've yet to see "notification", but i'll keep an eye on it for a few days and let you guys know about the behavior.
one thing I left enabled this time, was the "system status" window when you hit the topbar icons - this has a shortcut to a mail icon when there's a notification for that, and when hitting it, it shows the respective notification popup at the lower part of the window. That might be a 'workaround' for those who preferred the old notifications but want to keep tf3d.

Well, the solution is actually SSMaHo! Just do a search for it. Works like a charm and lets you remap pretty much anything
I also have same issue with X1.
Att the Settings Tab, I really want to change left soft-ket to launch the System Setting but default is CommManager.
I already searched the forum and google with no luck. So I tried to looking into source code and just found something.
It is correct or not, however "settings.mode9" file have embedded LUA codes and these codes contains some soft-key assignment codes.
BTW, codes have not only one assignment code, it contains several assignments and TF3D can apply each soft-key by situation(or any registry? macro? configuration?) I think.

You can only remap the soft keys in the Manila Home tab. Changing the others requires Manila editing, and may not even be possible. Here are the registry keys for the Manila Home tab soft keys:

I made an application on VB.net that can assign Home Softkeys to any program in Start Menu, also you can assign it to any other touchflo's tab...
This application is tested on Raphael device with Touchflo 3D 2.0

Works perfect! I'm using gangsters 6.5 windows mobile rom, desperately trying find a solution and no one elses worked! Can't believe your post has been sat here all this time, the amount of people that should know about it is ridiculous!!! Made changing the soft key assignments in touchflow 2 (3d) real easy.

Currently i run the latest rom of vincent. It a Manilla. How could i close the software tray? It shows me always the running progs, but i do not like it.
Forthermore, how could i change the symbol of the start menu in the upper left corner? I dont like the current one.
Last questions: Where do i find the file to wrote an sms? I would like to change the current function of the left key. I use the m2d customer prog but i do not find correct file on my phone. I want to creat a new sms.
Or could i close the bottum bar during the home screen? Because i do have everything in my tabs.

I have the exact problem and can't find the place to delete quicklinks.
[also, I'm trying to remove stuff like Facebook, Stocks and Twitter from the taskbar].
If its a free link then follows the steps above......
if its in the grid then open the cht menu and select edit quicklinks...
By taskbar Im assuming you mean the slider....??
Go to your settings tab, select "personalise" then "home screen tabs"

Sorry to bring this old thread up again.
Recenlty having problem on removing quicklink icon (on Energy ROM). Can't figure out how to delete one of the icon (shortcut) on quicklink page.

And also if I click on the Menu button at Home, it came out with menu of Set Wallpaper, CHTEditor, Edit Quick Links, Edit Home Layout, Weather demo.
If I select "Edit Quick Links", I can only move the icon around, but no way to delete it.
If I select Edit Home Layout -> Level 2 - Quick Links, I can only change the layout of the quicklink. If I tap and hold, a menu pop-up with Remove & other option. If I choose Remove here, it will actually remove the whole Quicklink Widget but not one of the icon there.
Anyone can help?
Found the solution already.
Actually is using Menu button at Home -> Edit Quick Links, then just tap the quicklink item once. The tapped item will be marked to be deleted after this. Previously keep using tap and hold, no wonder can't get the delete function.
