i was wondering, if the blue angel is outputting a real stereo signal via the mini jack or if it is just a mono signal on both headphone spekaers.... i once read something like this, cant remember where, cant say if its true...
does anyone know?
btw: whats that strange connection around the minijack for?

I have made my own 2.5 jack to 3.5 jack wire, so then I connect headphones from player I can hear for sure that sound is stereo Don't try to create This wire by your own, better ask me, and I'll post photos how it could be done. Anyone is interested in creating wire?
PS: You can modify 2 ears-headset, from mono to stereo by shortcutting the diode (black* little square inside headset plastic box). Disadvantage: headset can't be used for calling anymore.

There is A patch for the PDA2k enz ,that you get the A2DP profile for the widdcom 1.1 bluetooth stalk then you can use the bluewalker or logitech (stereo)headsets.

i just received an answer of the HTC Technical Support to my quetion regarding real stereo via mini jack.... unfortuneatly, they pointed out, that the HTC Blue Angel DOES NOT output a real stereo signal, just mono on both channels....

Well, with the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter I'm now using it most definitely does have stereo. On my hypnotherapy tape Paul Mckenna verbally identifies the left and the right ear, so I used that to check, and I don't think I'm tripping.
Not that I wish to contradict 'The Guy'.
adaptors are on ebay for 2.5mm to 3.5mm for about £1.50

i bought an adapter from hama (2,5mm to 3,5mm), but it is still not working... i only get a mono signal in one earplug... sucks big time!!
anyone knows, if the SENNHEISER MM10 would work with the MDA 3 ???

Yeah from "88Trading".... they don't work, they are not compatible despite what the description says.
I'm in the middle of getting a refund from them.

Srz, dude.... but this is bull****, I certainly get stereo sound with the earplugs that came with my O2 XDA IIs.
The sound is stereo for sure. I cannot recall any Pocket PC without stereo sound output. At Tech support they don't know what they are talking about.
Try looking for old Motorola earphones (i.e. for MPx200) it has the same connector scheme. The usual 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adaptor won't work, use the Motorolas one. BTW: Scheme is in wiki's general section.

i hv spv m2000 giving 100% stereo sound. Recently i bought a 2.5 to 3.5 converter from ebay which was not compatiable with BA so i open it fix it. now its working perfectly.SO if ny bdy want to fix his converter tell me.
there are other way....
i have modified the original earphone (cutting and soldering) however, if you don't want those nasty work, just simply buy the original motorola e398 rokr earphone, good quality sound..

yes... (the send and receive button works) that's one.. good quality sound both bass and treble, vocal clarity, however it doesnt have volume dial, you should set the volume from your music player applications..

Has anyone found any in-ear canal headphones that have a mic attached to the cord, similar in design to the white iphone head phones, but go in the ear canal? Also, when playing music, does the music pause when you receive a call or do you need to pause it manually? I saw that you could play music do other things on the phone since it multitasks pretty well.
I am using Jabra BT3030 and it works like that.
I would like to know it to. the ones that are deliverd with the hero hurts my ear it doesn't fit perfectly. i think i have small ears . i tryed the xperia headphones but the mic didn't work.
i searched ebay but couldn't find any for hero.
Well it doesn't need to be just for the hero as with a 3.5mm jack it should work with any mic and headphone.
P.S I think but don't count on it.

Like i said before i tried with the headphones of xperia it has 3.5mm jack with mic but the mic didn't work. the icon showed also only headphones when you put the hero headphones the icon shows also a mic.
I also tought it wouldn't differ witch you used but i was wrong.

You can try Stereo bluetooth headphones, "cans" style like the old headphones with padding not those earbud type. The Hero has Stereo bluetooth compatibilty and will give you music listening upto 10m away from the Hero with, pause, start, skip and reply functions as well as answering phone calls using the omni direction mic in the right headphone "can".. look on ebay you'll find them for under £30 or 35Euro

I've found the HTC BH S100 to be the best A2DP headset ever, sounds great, has excellent battery life, high output power, short charging time and a standard 3.5mm stereo jack, so you can attach your favourite headphone to it (I use Philips' SHE-9501 extra-cheap super-mega-boombass earpieces!).
I'm just wondering if the S100 will work with the Hero that's coming to my home..........
Simpler than Koss modification, quite affordable (30 euro's) in-ear headphone (great sound if you are a bass-addict), working mic + button:
V-Moda vibe duo. --> Officially made for iPhone, but works fine on my Hero!
I guess that all iPhone designed earplugs+mic will work, so a whole array of products is available... Ultimate ears also have a model for iPhone, and UE usually has a nice balanced sound.

the headset has a button with mic and they are inear (ear canal headphones)

This is a great combo for the Hero.
My only complaint would be that it would have been better if the connector could have been the 3.5mm jack rather than the MiniUSBExt. My old Nokia headset adaptor could do all this through a 3.5mm jack.
you can just use the iphone headphone it works. everything works mic, play pause, i'm using the iphone head phone from candy skull. like the apple iphone headphone it has the switch and mic on the right side. or if you preferred just use the apple headphone

Well, I answered my own question today. iPhone headset plays back audio, phone calls, but the mic does not work.
So we're still left with the question: what headset will work?
i am using HTC RC E100 as headphone adapter. It's remote controller with 3,5mm jack on it... pretty cool thinngy but with pretty ****y cable (
ditto the HTC E100. Controls plus mic. I soldered a pair of etymotics drivers onto a shorty 6" cable that allows me use with the TP2 (via the E100) or my ipod (via a headphone extension).

i have very expensive 3.5mm headphones so i can't use cheap bluetooth headphones instead
i thought of something : plug my 3.5 mm headphones into a bluetooth transmitter. then my htc touch would use this like a handsfree headphone
but my problem is : i can easily find devices that you plug into the htc to transmit the signal to a bluetooth receiver
but not something that receive the signal from the htc then convert it to my 3.5 mm stereo headphones

A cheap and easy solution to this is I bought the USB-C to 3.5mm DAC from HTC. Join the HTC club and it was £5.95 with free next day delivery.
Much louder and very good quality. Can't find any specification on what BIT the DAC is and I don't have the tools to measure it but its far better than the build in 3.5mm jack.

I've got tinnitus in my right ear from constantly having a headphone in it for a number of years. I used to always listen on the loudest volume. With the xperia xz you can have active noise cancelling headphones, I can warmly recommend the nc31em in ear, I bought a pair for 15 bucks and it uses the processor of the phone so you don't have to carry a big dongle. Now I can listen at half volume and still hear everything better than I did before!
I received a Griffin iTrip Clip Bluetooth headphone adapter so I could be wire free from my phone and found this improved the loudness and remained good quality audio. You may get a bit of breakage occasionally if multitasking but for £14 from Amazon, it's a cracking piece of kit!

I have followed the steps of signing up for HTC Club, and ordering the adapter straight away. It really came next day with no extra charge for delivery. And oh boy, the sound is amazing! I am bit of geek when it comes to headphones, so i have a multiple different types. The difference between using the audio jack output of the phone and using the usb c adapter is NIGHT and DAY. Not only loudness is incomparable higher, the pure quality of the sound is improved in every way. I do not believe that there is DAC hidden in the adapter, as it is quite small and low priced. What makes difference in my opinion is the additional power phone can send to the headphones by using the USB C out. Difference is so big, that this workaround can be seen as hidden features to extent, as Sony has not said a thing about using your USB C out for audio. Now I truly understand why the removal of headphone jack make sense as even phones with not the best DAC and AMP can produce great sound thanks to power of USB C.
In case of Sony Xperia XZ however, it looks as DAC is of a top- notch quality(it officially supports Hi-Res codecs after all) but the AMP is criminally under-powered and so combined with Sony obeying EU regulations for safe listening volume converts to quality sound but on quiet side. But thanks to this adapter the DAC is no longer tied to volume level set by headphone jack.
Everyone who owns this phone must buy this, especially considering the low price of the adapter. You need hear it to believe it.

I was on another trip recently and one scheduled for next week. Indeed the sound out of the headphone jack is extremely low so I ordered one of these gadgets and will arrive on Friday. The success from others is what I expect to gain and will report back

Its not working for me too...using the xaomi dongle

Thank you so much for this. The low earphone volume was driving me mad. So after reading this, I bought the same thing from HTC and it works fantastically and sounds amazing now.

Two kinds of USBC to 3.5mm Adapters, beware.
Just so folks know, there are two types of USB-C 3.5mm adapters out there - Digital and Analog.
All decent phones should support the Digital adapters, since they are just USB Audio Class devices made small. You could also plug them into a PC. Because they contain the DAC and amplifier, they will be spendy.
However, the $2 Passive adapters have no DAC in them. They trigger a special mode of the phone that basically puts the USB-C jack into an analog 3.5mm mode and the rest is just plastic and metal. The DAC is in the phone. The phone has to specifically support this mode, and will likely indicate USB-C Analog Accessory Mode in their specifications. Xperia XZ Premium does NOT support this mode, and never will - it has to be built into the hardware.
Just sayin.

how come some people heard a huge difference in audio quality?

Because people are trying different USB Audio headphones. Sony is not in control of their quality or amplification since the DAC and amp are in the headphones. For those using different 3.5mm headsets, their quality varies greatly. Sony expects folks to buy theirs, preferably with their active noise canceling that they wrote software for. It works well but as stated, they are not very loud.

ok so I have an audio system in my car, and volume in headphones gets super low compared to CD (I know CD quality is the best you can get i think) but still its VERY very low compared to it, in aux on 13db I get same loudness as 7db in CD, which means I have to turn it on almost twice as much as a cd to hear same loudness, (why dont I simply turn my audio more than usual on a cd?) because I like listening to very loud music and I some times get to 23db on a cd and its very loud and on aux i must reach at least 40db to get close to being as loud but my audio system only supports up to 30db so I am getting aux loudness of 15-16db compared to CD.
will the usb 3.0 to AUX DAC help me get louder volume?
