i known every body is asking this, but now developer never answer is somebody building a Donut Build to Hero, cant somebody port over a Dream build of 1.6 i known 1.6 is still beta but i known im not the only 1 ho wants to haw 1.6
what i im missing on 1.5 is
pptp
Full MultiTouch
Universal Quick Search Box
I believe that the issue here is that HTC have not released the kernel source code for the Hero yet, and without it making a working Donut ROM would be exceedingly hard.
Regards,
Dave
I may have missed something here too, but I dont think Donut is necessarily coming with full multi-touch support? Wouldn't this be partly an application restraint anyway?? Multi touch works in the browser so I'm guessing its not solely a hardware or Operating System restriction?

Multitouch is a pure software restriction due to Google don't want to step on Apples toes and risk getting a flock of layers asking Google to bend over...
HTC (and every other device manufacturer) on the other hand has the liberty to implement whatever feature they see fit on top of Android themselfes.
Ah, of course, which explains its inclusion into the Hero. Sorry about that!
Latest news from Twitter - Drizzy is working on porting the ROM from HTC Tattoo to the Hero. That's 1.6
I think he's working out few kinks now before it's ready.
Follow him on twitter for more news etc @heartbreakdrake

Bluetooth OBEX file transfer. Can somebody see whether this is supported?

It has been quite some time since the HTC touch pro came and since the very beginning there was talk about running android on it. I mean I remember a month after the Touch Pro came out someone had Android running on it, although it was just a proof of concept and didn't have touch or anything working.
So how has is been coming? Is Android finally a viable option for the Touch Pro?
I mean I would love to try android on my phone, as long as it works with bluetooth and the hardware buttons...that's really all I need. I can manage without wifi, speaker, etc.

Sorry I didn't know about the wiki and I did do a search for android in the ROM development forum and didn't come up with much.
But I was just wondering what kind of experiences people have had with it and wether it has been working smoothly.

A) link is broken... please fix!!
link is fine, but it seems like connect utb is down. Give them until tommorow
Can somebody help me with a weird problem?
Everything boots up just fine, but when I follow the how-to for my mobile networking my hardware keys(home, back, dial & disconnect) won't work!
Does anyone have a solution for that?
edit: it seems to be that the home and dial key are also left and the back and disconnect key are acting like a right key
thx in advance!
You asked for an opinion right?
I did try the android ports, even tried the one that's more recent but I didn't find them usable. They're too complicated and things don't work as expected. Maybe in time they will create a usable port for the touch pro but by then I will want to change my phone...I'm considering that right now too...
BUT. Some quality work has been done and it is a really cool experience. I appreciate all the work that has been put into that project.
Hi ladies and guys,
I’ve finally managed to do what I was trying to do since about 4 months ago. Pinch to zoom on your device in browser/Album/more.
First, I want to thank to many people, from what I remember it is l5v3y (C, Windows, ...), Chainfire (reverse engineering within IDA), Da_G, thx1200 (ZoomBar mod), supbro (GreenButton app), Twopumpchump (psychic support) and from what I don’t remember, many more.
So, this new version practically SIMULATES PINCH TO ZOOM FROM HTC HD2, so IT IS FLUID and BOUNCY
Just as I wrote earlier, THIS VERSION 2 IS WORKING ONLY IN OPERA! GMAPS AND ALBUM ARE BROKEN BECAUSE OF THIS NEW WAY FOR NOW!!
CURRENT DEVELOPMENT STATUS AND INFO HERE
9th July Update - spent another many hours on new algorithm, borrowing HD2, working, testing, swearing etc.
14th June Update #2 - use FIXED version, the normal one breaks GoogleMaps!
14th June Update - fixing many stuff, now Opera and GMaps work way better!
Original pre-published videos:

2nd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPku_Jt3_8c
3rd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmLC5CkRwjs
Please, don't reupload these three, thanks. If you want to make one as a review or anything, sure you can do
Download stats:
alpha - 2286
alpha2 - 60
alpha2fixed - 3105
Downloading and running howto:
Download this attachment and install the cab on your device. Now you will have in Start new folder named Pinch To Zoom with two links - Enable and Disable.
Don't try running ResistiveSystemPinch.exe file twice (or more times!), otherwise it may crash your gwes (not sure why, I close everything)!
For those with problems running it in Opera, try this (thanks to kain144000!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6866597&postcount=237
Try downloading compatible Opera (thanks to NorcoFox)
Also note, that if you just launched PTZ, it reacts AFTER you first change your topmost window, so try going to eg home and then back to Opera!
ENJOY!
to keep me working (I spent many, MANY hours on this)
Donated:
- $12.5 - Scrufboy
Any $ is appreciated and will receive betas (if there will be any, there is not much to betatest)!
Compatibility list
Opera 9.5 - tested, works (on some builds) - with v2 it's broken!
Opera 9.7 - tested, works (on some builds)
Google Maps - tested, works - with v2 it's broken!
Opera 10 - doesn't support this type of stuff or I'm not aware of that
HTC Album - working on supporting it
Frequently asked questions:
Will it work on WinMo 6 or 6.1? YES
Will it work on QVGA, VGA, WVGA, HVGA, ..? YES
How does it work? Magic...
Can you add support for application XYZ? If it is doable then later yes, but not right now.
I noticed you keep one finger still, do I have to? Since resistive touchscreens report only one finger, I detect movement between those two fingers. If you move both, it won't detect any change and it will fail to work! So yes, one finger must be still.
It doesn't work for me!? I'm sorry, I can't do much without getting access to that device. I guess it must be some kind of uncompatibility between Opera version you have. GoogleMaps should work for everybody though.
Can you give me source code? Yes, I can.
And will you give to me? No, I won't. I'm too greedy!
Can you make this for Android/Symbian too? No, I can't.
Tested devices:
HTC Touch Pro 2 -- WVGA, really good user experience
Known problems and their solution:
All except "it doesn't work for me" are gone?
Nice one -I'm impressed! look forward to trying it out.
looks great. I'm waiting to try it on my Blackstone
I'm salivating already! can't wait to test it
Amazing work!! Can't wait to try it out!!

+1 I m gonna check this thread everyday waiting for a download link!!!
Oh I should notice, that for best experience (hate this world after MWC ) is required WVGA screen because of digitizer resolution, but it will work on any screen (resistive)
And yes, one of the other testing devices will be hopefully soon friends' HTC HD and mine Kaiser once I turn it on.
Will work on WinMo 6.1 devices?
Sure, WM6.1 will even work better, because it doesn't have that f...ing gestures
Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I simply cannot express in mere words how much I can't wait for this. By the way, Prague is the most beautiful city on earth. I had the pleasure of going there in 2007, and was thoroughly amazed.

Hi OndraSter
Allways surprinsing us
Thanks for another super work
Will it work also on non HTC devices, i have Samsung Omnia i900L.
looking forward to testing this on my topaz
Sure, only requirement is WM5 and newer I guess. It was compiled on 6.5.3 SDK but hey, it is still WinCE so theres no reason why it wouldnt work on other phones.
Oh the other requirement is zoombar or pinchtozoom from HD2 capable Opera, since Im using messages from those drivers. But I guess newer 9.5 and almost any 9.7 can do that, album 2.x and newer I guess will work after adding it too.
And inbox in Tmail might be problematic with wm6.5, I need to find way, how to disable gestures events or I need to study them, what are they capable of.
PS, Im still thinking about my next project, what should I do... Just joking ofc, I have now plenty jobs to do.
Great Work!
U did it. Now it's possible to make a zoom of the pictures album using our fingers.
When will be released?
Thanx
Looks great OndraSter, looking forward to trying it on my diamond (any idea on Opera10/mini5 support?). Thanks.
Very nice work mate. Can it be used on HD2 phones without issues?

Ive been searching my butt off but didnt find these apps. Can any one of you help me or point me to the right direction. If that direction by any chance involves .apk files, could you please point me to an explanation on how to use these aswell?

You think so?
They never bothered with the Sprint Hero update..
No they won't make an update 3... They said that they will give us only 2 updates.. So for now those options will be in custom rom
For me this version of 2.1 can't be considered as definitive, there are to much bugs and missing things.
What sounds strange to me is that in the firmware version is set as 2.1-update1 and not as 2.1.
Does it means that we can hope about a 2.1-update2 or a definitive 2.1 version ?
Wait before you call me fool. I don't believe and don't wait for another version or some patches from HTC.
I was juste asking to myself why the firmare is called 2.1-update1 and not simply 2.1
IT just means, that it's based on 2.1-update1 which was a version released by Google shortly after 2.1 I think the main feature of that update was multitouch, which was not in the first 2.1.
So, no, this doesn't say anything about possible future upgrades.
But yeah I agree... There are new bugs... they fixed some old bugs and introduced new ones, including minor annoyances e.g. the download bar in the browser will just hover over some text instead of being properly displayed in the correct row, sometimes graphic glitches when transitioning landscape<->portrait, leap<->shome, desk clock... etc.
I mean, come on. It's not exactly rocket science to fix them, so HTC I expect remedies for the bugs. There's a list of bugs/issues the Sprint Hero has somewhere on the net. Most of it applies to our GSM Heroes... and it's a looong list.
could an admin remove this for me please
OK so no one else has had this problem? i don't believe that. there has to be someone out there who has had this happen or can help fix the issue
It's not meant to run and tablets. It is also stuck in portrait mode as it was only designed to run on phones.
I have heard that some can get it running on other tablets by putting the device in airplane mode but I'm not sure that will work here either.
Propably this is because
a) we have to large screens
b) no gps
c) or something else hardware 'missing'
The same problem many had with ebuddy (v.1.91) because the missing camera with auto focus but since they've released the 2.00/2.01 version you can install it on our gen8 tabs
so just ne patient and wait or just e-mail the dev of this launcher
For me it's working but it's not really good (on SGS it's fine). When you have the error message at boot, click on the button at the right of home.

That was i mean
That the only reason, why we haven't market (official) on gen8
Thats the only thing bad about google/android
Its clearly stated tablets arent supported. Dont bother buying.
Or how I can get it to work...?????If the camera worked like froyo these roms would eb absolutely great but everyone uses the camera!!
Well, that's just Sony's sudden way of saying "***** you"
But I guess it's because the libraries in 2.1 up to 2.3 has undergone significant changes ==> making it hard to port properly.
Hmm I guess it's well explained by: drivers.
Every Computer itself is hardware. Your mobile phone is also hardware and the ccamera is a specific hardware. that every other component of your mobile can use that specific hardware "camera" - for example that your camera recording app wants to use your camera to record video or take apicture - drivers are needed for the operating system.
The stack of communication levels looks very minimalistic like that:
app (camera.apk)
operating system (android in version 2.1. 2.2 or 2.3 or 1.6)
driver (inside operating system)
hardware (camera)
app says: take picture with camera (meaning open shutter, let the light into the light sensor) - operatingsystem knows what to do and tells driver (open specific shutter, let the light into the sensor xyz) and the driver opens the shutter and lets the light into it... maybe you get it...
The point now is: You have a specific camera that needs a specific driver in your phone. And Sony Ericsson has this perfect driver for that and does not give it out to us. That's why their operating system "stock ROM" works perfectly.
For Froyo the devs found a similar driver or maybe (I don't know really) could make the SE-driver compatible for Android 2.2. I guess was hard work to make Android 2.2 also for hardware keyboard and so on compatible for our mini pro!! And it was also another such hard work to make Android 2.3 compatible for our mini pro. But the Camera driver is still the Problem and thus the Camera can not be used as used in Gingerbread that is Android 2.3. And CM7 is a modified Android 2.3 for Mini, and slades and sonybread are based on cm7 and thus camera still does not work as we all would like it.
You can not use the drivers from froyo (cm6) or Eclair...
Okay?
As I guess the devs are still working hard on getting it worked but it's not that easy. That's also the point why the most people use the CM6 edition (Froyo ones)
Okiddoki?
thanks for your replies ...... Hope they LL fix it soon.....I definitely don't wanna go back to stock
Be grateful that it possible to even take pictures! With the HTC Click/Tattoo we had no cam on 2.1 up for over a year!
Download the applixation picsin from market ... Works great and takes.images in better resolution than vga.... Note* i only found it to.work with sonybread 4

I really doubt, that anyone is working on this... in fact I think everybody is waiting for a working driver to be released (from other devices or even from sony).
If somebody was working on getting it done we would know about this...

Paul-xxx (dev of sonybread) said that he is working on the camera drivers right now, and afaik none of the devs inform us always about his projects, before he is ready for a release...
Oh, I didn't even know that paul-xxx was capable of modding drivers (no offense).
And from my experience most developers start developement threads when they start big projects (like modding drivers) as they can work together with other devs that way and avoid doing some work twice (teamwork instead of duplicated work). But in my mind there's a slight difference between ("real") devs and ("just") cooks...
