I am looking to buy the HTC Hero on eBay but before I make the investment I like confirm the HTC Hero (model A6262) with HSPA/WCDMA 900/2100 frequencies will work on T-mobile USA 3G network. I read somewhere that Tmobile USA supports the 1700/2100 frequency band. Thanks for you input.
Will not work. 2G works fine, so you can make phone calls.
The topic has already been beaten to death. If you want to know the reasons do a forum search.

Hi Guys,
Maybe someone already explained this, but I have a Euro Stock HTC pro that I wish to use with ATT network. Everything works fine but 3G, it only enables the Edge.
Do I miss any cab or something?
Thanks much,
Julius
Also, I tested with Monx/RR Rom but both without luck.
I am flashing radio to see if this is the problem
The Euro version is missing the US 3G frequencies.
But on the box it is claiming it has Quadband and have the 850/1900 freq. How could I check if the phone has it?
The HTC Touch Pro EU has 3G bands of 900/1900 (correct me if i"m wrong)
AT&T uses 850/2100 for 3G.
i dont know what to tell you buddy
For HSPA, the Euro version uses 900/2100 MHz and Quad band EDGE/GSM for 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. This is why you're only getting the EDGE signal.
The US 3G version has HSPA 2100/1900/850 MHz. More specifically ATT runs on the 850/1900 for 3G, EDGE, and GPRS.
You should take/send back the phone and buy a Fuze.
Thanks for both of your answer. Well, too late. I bought it when I travelled there. Anyways thanks!
Hello,
I just received my HTC Hero today which I bought from Clove in the UK (I live in Australia). Unfortunately for me I did not notice that the phone does not support UMTS 850mhz (which is Telstra's NextG). I live in an area which I get very little or no service on the other bands and UMTS 850mhz is the only one suitable for me. I saw 850mhz frequency listed on the phone specifications and I had no idea that there was a difference between 2 850mhz frequency .
My question is, will the Hero be hackable to enable 850mhz UMTS? I've seen it happen before with the HTC Touch Diamond, so perhaps the Hero is hackable too?
Or will I have to sell this phone and wait for mainstream release in Australia with the UMTS 850mhz enabled?
Thanks.
I think this maybe will be posible in a future but not rigth now.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am having this issue where I work. Next G works in Perth where I live but not at work. Seems Telstra use two different bands for Next G...
I currently have a telus HTC HERO in black but i am selling that one and buying a white HTC HERO.
The white HERO that im looking to buy is a european model.
I looked at the HTC website to see if there was any difference between the two phones and i found this:
HSDPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz for Europe and 850/1900 MHz for USA.
So my question is will the european HERO work on canadian networks providers (FIDO, ROGERS)....would i have any issues with getting good signal connections and optimal speeds for 3G
thanks in advance
The Canadian GSM networks & AT&T in the US use a different 3G frequency than what GSM networks use in Europe & T-Mobile in the US. Due to this an European Hero on a Canadian network will not get 3G.
thank you for the quick reply.
I guess i will have to look for another seller.
Thanks again
Further, In Canada, networks like Bell and Telus are ONLY 3G, so without the North American 3G bands, you won't get any signal. I think Rogers has 2G, though. I'm not sure exactly which networks do and don't, but I know that at least some don't.

Umm, no....
As far as I know, the Bell and Telus joint network is 3G only. I don't know if the carriers have a deal to use EDGE from Rogers or areas not covered by 3G.
To the OP: Why don't you get a Hero from Telus? It's the same one as the European version, but works on the North American 3G band.

I dont like going on 3 year contracts so i buy my phones from resellers on craigslist. The seller specified that his HERO was from Europe so i wanted to find out if it would work. That was the only option at the moment but now I do have a Telus HERO that I bought from some other seller.
Thanks for the help btw.
pretty sure i can only get EDGE no?
if so i was wondering if there was anyway i can pay for internet on it? or even somehow free since its edge haha.
thanks.
dumb question or what?
anyone? the person on ebay said it was a euro band (hence why i picked it up cheap) so there's no way i can get 3g huh? unless i download a new radio?
help please? i want to know because i want to get internet.
3G won't work in America with GSM Hero. Frequencies are different. USA 1700/ 2100
bands, and the EU GSM Hero is 900 / 2100
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
OK so I just bought an AT&T One X+... it works fine on my network. Though I travel back to my country every now and then and in my country they use 900/1800 MHz GSM band (and doesn't have LTE). 3G band is 2100MHz and is compatible though. however I read somewhere that the One X+ only supports 850/1900 MHz band + LTE
So the question it if i UNLOCK it - will I be able to bring it back to my country and use it? Will the band difference be a problem or will the unlock process open up additional bands as well?
If I won't be able to use 2G can I make calls and text on 3G network only?
Thanks!

wrong forum, please delete
The One X+ does indeed support 2G @ 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and 3G @ 850/1900/2100 MHz.
Im in the same bought as you, and I wouldn't have bought it otherwise Got mine unlocked as well from Cellunlocker.net in less than an hour. Cutting up the full-size T-Mobile SIM was the hardest part.
