so basically the original rom was just horrible and i put a mighty rom on my my phone.just recently my phone's keyboard just stopped working bc i dropped it . i was trying to take it back to sprint to get it fixed, but i figured i would put back the original rom and relock it to not hear any bull. but i cant, i found the site with the original rom (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741) and when i download it and unzip it and tryed to reopen it. vista is basically saying it cant open it bc i doesnt understand the format(nbh) or at least thats what i gather never had this problem b4 and i could use some help please thanks
RAR not ZIP
just download jzip. Its a free version of winzip and winRAR together. the Sprint file you are trying to unzip is a rar format. winzip and windows vista do not know how to unzip rar files. but jzip can do it, and its free. once you install, just double click on the rar file and you will be good to go.
and if it is something something something.nbh, then it is already unrar'd. just put it in your bootload folder and install it.

Hi guys,
I've got an XDAII and I want to be able to see / edit the extended rom...
I've found the cab files I need (elsewhere in this forum) but I have no idea whatsoever how to use them?!?!
I can't run them, so there must be either an app I need or somewhere I need to put them, right?
Please help
Thx
Have you transfeered the cab file to your phone and executed from there?
It's a cab file. You put it on the XDA II in a folder of your choice, then run it, after reboot you will find a new icon in Programs. The rest is simple.
When I try to run it I get:
The is no application associated with "00unhide". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application.

Please post the link to the exact file so I can download and test it.
I just got it working...
After I downloaded the .cab, as I have WinRar I thought that it was something that needed extracting and it didn't!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=567
that's the link anyway, but it works perfectly!
Sorry for being such a idiot
No problem, hope its all sorted for you now.
Ok, here it is; this file will take any OS.nb and analyze it for bad blocks; it won't tell you if the OS is properly valid or not, but it can tell you if flashing it will bollocks up your Hermes or not.
no warranties as usual; and it's also quite faster without the progress bar turned on, just to let you know.
Fabulous!!
Now I can safely test the new OS building process I want to use for WMXL v0.30
Another safety measure for the Hermes.
this is only getting better.
You got to love this forum, great work guys
thanks again Olipro, that one will be handy
Thanks so much, great work as always; we've been quite spoiled with new tools these last few weeks! The Hermes time has truely come!
Olipro, mate truly another great tool... its getting hard to keep up... how about a wrap up thread of your tools....
yes, a "wrap-up" thread will come in the form of ROM Kitchen which I will have released within the next two weeks... should be good
OS.db
How can I get an OS.db?
I only have RUU....exe ROMs and i do not know how to obtain OS.db from it?
Can anybody help me or send me an OS.db for me to reconstruct a dumped ROM for SPV M3100 orange spain?
Thank you.
.nb
Olipro was talking about the os.nb, there's no os.db file.
You have to unpack your exe file, there should be
.) ruu.exe
and
.) ruu_signed.nbh
in it.
Then you have to use duttys good nbhtool to extract the os.nb from this ruu_signed.nbh. Its not possible to send you a .nb file because its at about 70 megs.
Thank you.
But the roms files that i download are *.exe and if i double click it, an installation window appear.
How can i extract the files you say from this *.exe?
You have to install winrar or winzip first then click with the right mouse button on this .exe and extract it to a folder.
But honestly said (and with all due respect): If you don't know how to extract a file its better to do not anything with this file nor to flash it. Because its possible to brick a device during flashing and its a long, long way to unbrick it, especially without computer knowledge and comprehension.
Thank you.
I agree with you that if i do not know how to extract a file, it is better not to do anything more complicated.
But I have extract and comprime files lots of time, the problem was that, until now, i had only ROM files from HTC and this file is an exe, not a compromed exe. So I cannot extract anything. I answer thinking that with a special programm it was possible to extract the file from this *.exe.
Now I have download a ROM from Schaps and I have got the nbh file without problems.
Thanks.
Is there a os checker for files .nbh ?
I'm in the process of reverting my Hermes back to a T-Mobile UK ROM for Windows Mobile 5 using My Vanx guide but I can't exrtract the entended ROM from the ROM I have. Can anyone help me out?
I have a rar file of the contents of the t-mobile uk ext rom, if thats what you need?
Yes please, that would be great. Is that what I need to revert back to WM 5?
Well, ideally I think you can just overwrite the ext rom contents then do the rom downgrade, then hard reset and the ext rom contents will install.
I havent done it myself though.
Here's the zip, rar's not allowed apparently.
Thanks, I'll give it a try this afternoon and let you know how it goes.
That would be appreciated, just in case I have a warranty issue......
I'm trying to get it back due to a warranty issue (white appears as yellow).
Anyway, the extended ROM downloaded okay, however it didn't contain the Herm_extendedRom.nb as stated here. I've got the PrimarySplash.nb, SecondarySplash.ng and Windows.nb files from decompiling the NBH file, and now I'm stuck in a dead end.
Oh. you're doing that, I dont have the nbh file im afraid, what I was doing was leaving the extended rom alone when flashing rom updates so the original contents will work.
The main reason I didnt bother deleting the original ext rom is that the files dont actually run under wm6 and I dont really have any use for the ext rom.
Theoretically if you replace the contents of the ext rom with the contents of the zip then do the downgrade stuff wthout selecting the ext rom nbh file it might work. since I seem to recall that the ext rom contents were run by a prompter file in the windows directory from the original t-mobile OS rom after you first hard reset.
Might be worth seeing if anyone can clarify this though, as I said, I havent downgraded as yet.
Sounds like it might work, or just trying to flash without the Extended ROM, and then running the cab files seperately afterwards, but I'd like to seek clarification before doing so.
hi!
i am currently using an HTC HD2- ROM version: 1.72.206.3 (86372) WWE
Radio version: 2.07.51.22_2
as you can see i have made no changes to the software since i got it.
i have tried to load in a new radio and a new rom- Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2 and
Miri_Steve0007_Elegancia_V3.0_FINAL... but when i go to load them usoing the update utility i get the message in the image.
thanks, harry.
Hi
From the looks of it, the filename might be incorrect or in the wrong location.
First, put the update utility file(s) in a folder along with the radio file that you want to use. Rename the radio file to ruu_signed.nbh (exactly like that). The try run the update - it should work.
If you follow the above instructions for your ROM file (Miri_Steve0007_Elegancia_V3.0_FINAL... ) then that should work too! Make sure you rename it as I have said above.
PS you can only update the Radio OR the ROM not both at the same time (as far as I know), so do one after the other.
Latz
Thanks for your reply. i done what you said, but am now getting "ERROR [238] : file read" :S
any ideas?
thanks, harry
Couple of things here
1) did you hardspl the deivce yet?
2) did you try and mount the files with a cd image mounter?
If you haven't done 1 then you can't flash anything that isn't a stock rom and if you did 2 you'll probably want to redownload the files. Also ensure that the path to the file doesn't exceed 256 characters. Some programs still have issues with really long file names
in post 1 that long filename, you didn't show the file extension, you are unzipping the downloaded file? (assuming it comes zipped, most do, zip, rar, 7z file extensions all need unpacking.
you shouldn't actually need to rename the file ruu signed, and you can't have two rom/radio .nbh files in the same folder.

Start with your phone off, hold the volume down Button and power the phone on. If the multi colored screen says HSPL on it, you should be able to flash just fine.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
