Hi there!,
Is HC standard for MicroSD cards supported by Touch HD? I was looking for 16Gb cards and all of them seem to be HC type, however there is no sign on my phone idicating that it's compatibil with this standard?...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
A two second search would reveal dozens of topics like this and I assume your HD came with instruction book?
or there's hundreds of sites with specs on the HD, no need to start a new thread for such a remedial question, dont you think?

16GB is the maximum on HD and D2 as far as I know.
I think HC refers to anything over 4 GB ?, I got 16 gb works fine...Oh BTW, google SD XC, its the new format coming out very shortly starting out at 64 gb, with plans for 2 TB, yes.... thats 2 terrabyte !!, also going to be available in micro sd, would been good if leo was available with this
Im using a 16gb microsdHC class 6 on my Touch HD and everything is working great!

I am not sure if this are micro are not. When i go to newegg, MicroSD and SDHC are different categories. Thanks for any help.
UllSang,
The links you posted are for Secure Digital (SD) card sizes. The Hermes uses microSD cards. These are much smaller physically.
Both SD and microSD have the high capacity version (SDHC and microSDHC).
MicroSDHC cards work on the Hermes only with the latest cooked versions of WM6.
The second one is a standard 8GB SD card, afaik there isnt an 8GB MicroSDHC just yet.
We know 4GB microSDHC definatly works (you need a recent version of WM6).
you do realize those are sd cards right?
oooppss. . .sorry.. didnt realize sombebody has made the correct point.
hey mrvanx sir. you might want to fix the link on your ROM: part of your signature.. (or is that just a teaser? )
Hmm. I had a feeling that it was not microSD. Good think i asked before i bought one. So can anyone point me in the direction of a 4GB microSDHC? Thanks a bunch.

y? if u need space, just get a 2GB microSD. dont u want to upgrade to a VGA pdaphone very soon? i'm not sure if the real Imate 7150 or HTC omni support microSD or not
What do you mean a VGA pda phone? I also just bought my Hermes therefore i would rather not spend a lot of cash on a new phone.
Man those 4 GB SDHC cards are soo expensive. i can get a few 4 2GB for the price of one of those.
8Gb microSDHC card

SanDisk today announced that it is has begun sampling 6 and 8 gigabyte (GB) microSD High Capacity (microSDHC) flash memory cards to major phone manufacturers and mobile network operators (MNOs) for testing and evaluation. The new cards are ideal for the growing number of feature-rich multimedia handsets that bring together phones, music players, hand-held computers, digital cameras and more. An 8GB microSDHC card can store more than 2,000 digital songs, or more than 5,000 high-resolution pictures, or up to 5 hours of high-quality MPEG 4 video2.
Retail release of the cards and availability to phone manufacturers and network operators are planned for later in 2007.

Will LVSW 3.30.2.1 version support 4GBMicroSDHC cards? That's what I'm using.
Check your build # and read!! This HAS been asked many times before. Hint-- There are other threads concerning 4gb microsdhc.
Wonder if Touch HD (official rom) can be used with Micor SDHC 8 GB (class 6)?
Seem like internal memory is not enough to carry more MP3 & VDO.
Reports say that it supports up to 32GB microSDHC

Well in that case I think I'll use my 8gb class 4 in my TOUGH HD and use the class 2 that came with it in my Trinity, not that the speed makes much difference in phones. I see that on www.toppreise.ch they already have the Sandisk 16gb microSD class 2 available for around CHF 80. I'll most likely be jumping for one of those soon

True, I looked closely at the thread list in this "development" section and it looks like the Blackstone is so new people are just starting threads all over the place without looking. I'm sure when there is some real meat in the development category it will settle down.

hi everyone -
i wanted to ask, what's the max size microsd card that the european htc hero can take?
i have seen on differnet sites from 8GB up to 32GB.
i am running an 8GB card at the moment but is anyone running a 16 or 32gb one ok?
thanks!!
majority of people use the 8gb class 2 or higher, same with 16gb, but very few use 32gb... that's if you can get a hold of one.
thanks for that - but do 16 and 32GB cards actually work in the phone?? disregarding if they are hard to find or expensive
I have a 16gb class 6, works great.
cool thanks!
anyone tried a 32GB one yet?
cool thanks!

Mine 16GB is working perfectly, but 32GB?

thats the things, so far i've read that most are using 16GB and not 32GB read another thread on some other forum before that this guys had problems cause the 32GB was causing some instability. As for why i want to get such a big card cause i recently saw a 32GB class 10 on offer. LOL
32GB Micro SDHC 2.0 would be working great.
Higher class (higher than class 4) is needed only for sdext and swap partitions.

Looks like there is a 64G micro SD by Sandisk. Will be good for my collections of lossless music.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobile-MicroSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B005V7WIA2
Many claim that it works even on old Android devices. Just wonder if any Galaxy Player owners tried this yet?
Update:
Finally got one. Similar to the experience of other users, the player will think that the SD card is corrupted when mounted for the first time. Once you format it as instructed, it will work fine.
I have attached a couple of screenshots below for those who are interested. Two of the screenshots are benchmark of 64G Sandisk (Class 6) vs 32G Lexar (Class 10).

I think I read somewhere that the SDXC I cards are somewhat compatible with older devices but not fully. That "I" degignation is new and not supported by older SDHC devices. In older devices, the "I" cards would work at a slower speeds, I believe. In this case, Class 6... I think I have seen SDXC I cards being advertised as 50Mb/sec read speeds... at class 6, that would drop do avg. 6Mb/sec... so you loose the speed the "I" standard brings but the larger capacity always sounds good. In saying so, I have not tried these. I am however, very tempted...

I'd imagine it will work just fine. You just won't be able to take advantage of the "advanced speed" aspect.
If your interested in it, just purchase it with Paypal and return it if it doesn't work. I'd give it a try, but I'm fine with my 32GB + 16GB cards at this time.

And most important... if it works and can read the card!

That's a good news. I will probably take the plunge and report back. As for speed, class 6 should be sufficient for music storage. I used to use class 4 for that purpose, it was a bit pain to load the music onto it for the first time but playing music from it is not an issue.
Like Galaxy Player only supports 32Gb, sorry for my English
Works fine on my 5.0, formatted to FAT32, speeds around class 6 using r14 kernel on international
I am using one on the 5.0 U.S version.

Hi Ryzir.
I'd be interested if you could explain exactly what you did to make a 64GB microSD card work on a stock 4.0...?
I've tried formatting a 64GB Sandisk microSD card to FAT32 and my 4.0 doesn't recognise the card at all...
When I first inserted the card into the 4.0 it came up with some error (corruption?) and I selected format. Been working perfectly ever since.
I should note that I'm in the US. I believe there are slight differences between US and INT version.
Frustrating

I'm using what I think is the US version or at least with US language...still no joy. The card isn't recognised at all.
Unless you can offer more information looks like I'll have to continue without...or perhaps see if I can buy a UK based one....
The only other thing I can think of to suggest is to try and format with SD Formatter (Google it I can't post link yet)
FWIW I'm using SanDisk - Mobile Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 6 Memory Card (Model: SDSDQY-064G-A11A)
32 class 10?
Hi, I have question that is slightly off topic but will a 32 gig. class 10 work in YP-G70 Us version?
No joy

:-( Unfortunately doesn't look like any kind of reformatting is going to make my Galaxy S Wifi 4.0 compatible with a 64GB microSD card...
Oh well I guess I'll have to way until they (or someone else) provides an alternative device with appropriate support.

Did you get the sandisk one mentioned above? And have you considered the possibility of a "bad out of box" situation? they can happen especially with electronics this small, I had a Kingston DDR laptop memory (best in the business IMHO) that was "bad out of box" so it is possible.
Sandisk card works fine elsewhere...

I did use a Sandisk card and I've managed to use it in another device (an Android tablet) without a problem.
I'm really very confused..I can only assume that I'd need to root my device perhaps...or...well I don't know. It's really very annoying and frustrating.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I doubt rooting would make a difference, but at the same time there's no reason not to. (i had mine rooted within 6 hours of getting it out of the mailbox, and I had NEVER touched android before that moment) Maybe try rooting and flashing a popular custom ROM, Like Klins R5 and the Terrasilent kernel, at the very least doing the terrasillent (or any kernel available) along with rooting will give you the ability to use voodoo sound, and that alone is worth doing it for.
thats just weird, it reading in the other android means it should be good to go in the player.
