Hi,
I accidentally cleared up all Google apps data/cache. Now it is asking for setting up google account again. When i enter my credentials, it just fails. The error message is:
"Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services."
I am connected to internet (using browser to view pages works fine). Is there a workaround? I do not want to Hard Reset my Hero.
I am not rooted!
I had that same issue after I swapped SIM cards in my Hero and even after I did a hard reset. I just had to wait it out apparently. I got the error on WiFi, 3G, and GPRS. I would say to wait another day before doing a wipe. All the support related sites will tell you to do a wipe now.

I have been having the same problem...ROOTED My HTC Hero (T-mobile - g2)
With CyanogenMods Recovery and flashed MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.3 Core.
After that it doesnt seem to let me log in to google? Market?
I then Loaded backup copy of normal rom back on and then flashed MoDaCo rom over the top with out wiping. and i could log in to market and google. but server errors appear every now and agian....Really frustrating....Wondering weather its worth having a rooted g2. if there is constant problems? like freezing and restarting of touchflo?
Is there a newer rom or a way to have a custom rooted htc hero and that works to a good standard????

Im just using a prerooted generic image, seems to do the job for me

If the flash was successful, then try a hard reset as first. (Don't forget to save your data, because all of them will be erased on your phone, except mSD card). You can read about it here point 15th.

i flashed the old rom back to (2.13.531) then lost the wifi on/off (greyed out), then did a hard reset as suggested. the wifi on/off is no longer greyed out, and the wireless networks are showing available (my home network) but 'connecting' msg keeps 'circling around,, and not connecting like before.

I have two Folio 100. In the first i can add Google or Exchange account but in the second it's only possibe add Exchange account .
Do you know what's the problem?
I'm using Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 and i have tried also with Cyanogenmod 7.2 RC0 with the same problem. Also using ClockWorkMod recovery for Betelgeuse v0.3
Are you logged on on one of them when you try to add on another?

+1 no problems with cyano and foliomod
But i had the same problem with HC rom, and i solved it doing another factory reset after updating the rom

Power off your device, turn off batterry & try again.
If google acc not connected on Wi-Fi, try on 3G (need only first for Google Acc, after use normally on WiFi)
I'm struggling with this too - I'm on the rom Folio 3xx v0.4.
I sit there with the google account creation screen constantly getting an error message of 'cannot get a reliable connection'. If I use the web interface it logs in fine but puts up error of an account creation issue on the device. There's no further details provded. I can't use a 3G connection as it's just a normal folio 100.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(would have posted this in the dev thread but I can't post there till my account is mature enough)
Did you try that on first boot? Wifi isn't working on first boot and 3G modem is supported.

Hi Jon, Unfortunatly no - there had been many, many reboots. I originally installed the rom and somehow got around this issue (although it did occur). Unfortunatly I was experiencing many apps refusing to run - I then noticed your post telling somone to try a fastboot -u (?) to fix this problem. This worked and the build then had a lot more working apps... but this problem occured.
To be honest I've now given up on the honeycomb build, and gone on to try CM7. The device is a lot more useful with that on, however I had hoped for a chance of using adobe photoshop touch on the device as it would have been useful for work and general use.
My hope is kind of on you and nopy with your ICS build. Wish I could help but I'm new to android!
Hi hope somebody can help here, acquired this phone yesterday (used) put sim in works fine makes and receives calls no problem, connects to the net via browser sometimes no problem , when tethering with either wifi or usb connection lasts for a few mins then loses connectivity but browsing on the phone browser works fine (Icon still shows data connected arrows-- signal blue), sometimes the browser loses it too but only when trying to go to links from google search, if i scroll though the pages of search results via google it open up the next page of results WTF !!!! I have tried bluetooth and many different tethering apps all with same result, I tried to update rom but verification failed even with a force flash, cannot flash recovery as it asks for blaze drivers, tried standard adb driver but device not found when trying adb-devices , its running B021 Vodafone uk rom kernel version 3.08-00004, any ideas Im about to give up and take it back HELP !!
Update, I have managed to install clockwork by installing linux dual boot, think I will keep it too, now running jellybean, now just need to port some Roms ! also I think xda should give this phone is own section , finding anything on xda for it is nightmare !

I downloaded 4.4.4 OS zip file, and flashed it after factory reset, alongwith 4.4.4 gapps.
after booting back on, kept getting errors, Youtube stopped, calendar stopped etc.
realized phone is still encrypted
removed my official account and kept only my personal gmail on the device.
still stays encrypted
contacted Admin, had him factory reset.
now boots fine, without encryption
setup my personal gmail
tried encrypting my phone, dsnt happen.
shows the green android logo without any progress bar.
Kindly help me encrypt this device so i can setup my office mail.

Yes I did,with trial and error I figured out that once a phone is encrypted, and after that factory resetted, the only way to re-encrypt it is to flash a stock image(via odin) once. And then put any custom rom and re encrypt.

I have a samsung galaxy s3 i9305 LTE and I have been using this device without problems for around 2 years now. It runs on Jellybean 4.3 baseband version i9305zhucnb1. It has been running on this firmware for a couple months now ever since it has been rolled out. The problem is, the WIFI suddenly stopped working. Never had this problem before and I actually never had any problems with this device ever. Whenever I turn on WIFI, it detects my home networks and other networks wherever I go but whenever I try to connect, it just shows saved secured, and sometimes authentication error after a couple of attempts. I have other WIFI devices at home and all are working perfectly. I tried forgetting the networks and I am positive that the WIFI password is correct. I tried to restore the device to facroty settings hoping that it would work. I tried accessing my router and I'm sure my device isn;t blocked. I even configured my routers to only accept the mac address of my device and block all others but still wouldn't connect. I tried rooting my device via odin but my device blocks root access and shows the error message "an application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. this attempt has been blocked.". I tried rooting it to try flashing custom roms. I also tried dialling *#0011# to configure my wifi but it still does not work. I don't think that the problem is my firmware because I had it for months and it didn't update before the issue occured. I was also about to try downgrading it to an ICS stock rom since I can't root it to try custom ROMs. I've been trying to fix this for days now. Can you guys give me a step by step instruction on how to fix this if it is at all possible? And maybe give me a link where I can download ICS or lower stock ROM's for this device. I think I have to use a TGY firmware, though I don't have an idea what it means. Thanks!

Maybe you've dropped your phone and the WIFI module loosened, and it can't work correctl?

I just charged it overnight and when i woke up, it just stopped working. where is the wifi module? the wifi does turn on and it detects wifi. it just doesnt connect. whenever i try to connect to a network, it shows saved, secured and sometimes authentication error.

Maybe it's time for factory reset? I know that's the easy solution and most complicated but you should do it from time to time.

Well, i think this may be the time to perform a complete factory reset ! try backing up your data and perform a complete factory reset.

already tried factory reset, already flashed stock rom. already reset wireless router and the router is a non-issue because i tried on several networks.

i decided to have it checked by a local technician and according to them, this was still a software issue. i dont know what to do anymore. they insisted that i should just keep flashing stock roms to fix these. already tried flashing the 4.3 tgy jellybean stock rom so i was thinking of flashing other version stocks. can anyone give e a good link where i can download tgy stock roms 4.1.2 or even ICS stock roms. I also am having problems with rooting the device. it gives me error message "an application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. this attempt has been blocked." after flashing autoroot in odin. my knox is not installed. thanks.

the first time i brought this to them is when i attempted to flash an incompatible firmware. they also did not fix it. they said they dont have any available stock rom for i9305 and told me to download and flash one. mayba im just gonna have to look for a different technician when i have free time. so for the mean time, im trying to look for other fixes. btw, i tried downloading a tgy 4.1.2 stock rom and it does not flash successfully. for now i'm thinking of rooting and flashing custom roms. but whenever i flash auto root. it gives me the error message "an application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. this attempt has been blocked.". i tried updating supersu still the same thing. i manually installed root checker and says it does not have root access and it shows the said error message again. what should i do with that? Thanks
