Hi everyone,
i'm on vodafone contract (500mb download limit per month)
I've installed one of the darkstone (non-sense) builds and its running well.
only problem is with the internet.
i can connect using the WAP contract APN, but not with the contract internet APN, both from vodafone.
am I ok using the WAP APN, or is it going to cost me more money??? really confused what the difference is.
really hope someone can help.
thanks
psg
From what i know there are different apn types like internet and mms and just internet.
Vodafone in my country uses internet and mms apn and the APN settings are available on their site.
Assuming that you installed a custom rom it just doesnt't have your apn settings just google them good luck ;-)

Here is an interesting development... I flashed CyanogenMod 10 on my Sony Xperia arc S phone and the ROM downloaded some settings by itself. There are 3 APNs that comes with this ROM.
1. ATT
2. ATT LTE
3. StraightTalk ATT
StraightTalk was picked by default. I was about to delete them all and enter the settings from here but then I received a text message from a friend... Lo and behold, it was a MMS message with a pic attached and already downloaded. I saw that my WiFi was on, so I turned off the WiFi and asked my friend to send me more pics... They all arrived including a video snippet.... Then I sent one, a larger pic, and he received it. All amazed I fired up the CM10's browser and went to www.testmy.net Did a smarttest and my download was 3.4 Mbps and upload was 577 Kbps... In Phoenix, AZ...
Here are the settings that came with CM10 ...
Name: StraightTalk ATT
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com

APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled (tick mark checked but grayed out anyways)

Does this make any sense now?
That's the settings I use for straight talk, works great. I get 4g just about everywhere here in pa. Mms works great too. I've had straight talk for a year and a half on at&t. Can't complain. If you use alot of cell data they will throttle you slow, but I'm usually close to wifi. I've heard 2GB then they slow you down.

I'm getting 1.3Mbps down and 657 Kbps up. Pretty happy with it.
To the last poster, I thought Straight Talk didn't offer LTE coverage?! If it did, it'd be an even more amazing deal than I had thought it was!
My data works fine. Got like 6mbps this morn but my MMS wont send for ****. Using an Xperia Ion
Pantech Pocket ATT - Straight Talk MMS Settings
The Pantech Pocket needs to have the Straight Talk APN data loaded to TWO locations.
Both Phone APN and Wap APN need to be setup with the Straight Talk APN settings.
Straight Talk makes it sound like you only need to enter the information in one location.
You need to enter the information in Phone APN and Wap APN, if you want MMS to work!
APN name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Straight Talk value
Port: 80
MMSC: Straight Talk value
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
My Pantech Pocket is running flawlessly on Straight Talk now. MMS is 100% functional. The pictures are getting through. I'm getting 5Mbps download speed and 1Mbps upload speed.
My Pantech burst uses only one apn. On gingerbread and ice cream sandwich. I don't run proxy but the rest of the settings I put in and works good. Seems faster tried it. 40kbps proxy vs 4000kbps no proxy. Not sure why. Any ideas?

HOLY SH!T!!!
I just put in the settings Bushmaster78FS posted and I am now on TRUE 4G with ST. 6Mbps!!! ITS FASTER THAN MY WORKS WIFI BY 3X!!!
AMAZING!!! THANKS BUSHMASTER!
Nice
Thanks for the settings you posted Bushmaster.
The settings provided are the first ones I have used and successfully got both data and mms working with only one APN.
Using Samsung Galaxy S III.
1. My phone is unocked and compatible on both AT&T networks and T-Mobile right now i am using an blue AT&T sim and i am thinking to make the move to T-Mobile network. Do you think i can use the same AT&T compatible sim and just change the APN setting to T-Mobile and have it work on the T-Mobile network or so i have to buy a sim?
2. I heard that you can get a free sim by buying a free phone and just using it on your phone but other people say that those sims are lock to those phones. Which is true?
3. I see that Straight talk sells cheap GSM phones and my GF has her phone on T-Mobile so can i buy one of the ST phones and swap it to use on T-Mobile or are the locked and can they be unlocked?
I just switched from the default straight talk apn to the ones bushmaster posted. I went from 1 mbps to 4.8 on a Nexus 4.

I have a unlocked AT&T Pantech Breeze 3 with a Straight Talk sim in it. Am unable to access the web. All my settings still go to AT&T.
Does anyone know the correct APN settings?
I have to go 3 places to do the setups.
# 1 Messaging > Settings > Multimedia > MMS Settings
There I can enter Profile Name: MMSC: Connection Type: Proxy Address:& Proxy Port.
Does anyone know the correct values to put in here?
# 2 My Stuff > Applications > Browser > Manage > Profiles
Profile Name : Home URL: Connection Type : Proxy Address: Proxy Port
# 3 Settings > Network Connectivity > Connection Name > APN : Primary & secondary DNS : Linger Time : Authentication: Username :
Password
Does anyone know the correct values that I need to put in here in order to get my phone to go to the web.
I ha ve voice mail, can call and text. Just not access the web. Can anyone help me here?:

anyone try these settings on S2 i9100 and see speed gains?
APN set, no data.
Hey gang, I've looked far-and-wide and haven't been able to locate a solution so, I throw myself on y'all's mercy and ask if anyone has a clue why I can't receive wireless data on my SGT AT&T GT-P1000.
I received my AT&T Straight Talk SIM the other day and porting the phone over was no issue. However, when I set up the APN I did not immediately reboot the phone due to some confusion about when the service actually transferred. Could this have affected my registration on the ST wireless network?
I've entered the APN settings precisely but, alas, still cannot connect to the wireless data. I really want to move over to ST, not only will it save me $30 a month whilst adding an "unlimited" data plan but, best of all, I'll get to tell AT&T to go pound sand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
did you add in the " http://"?
Does anybody now any way to unthrotte. Since we all now that ST throttle after 5gb. I called to ST customers service, they told me that unlimited data is only for navigation.

Hello. I just received my Nokia Lumia 920 yesterday. It is an International factory-unlocked version (920.1). It's not a dev phone or a Rogers unlocked phone. I cut my mini SIM to a micro SIM, put it in and it was working great (had to soft reset first though)! I do not have a data plan so I'm not worried about EDGE speeds. However, MMS messages are not being sent. Here is what I have tried to do to resolve this:
I went to Mobile Network. Data is off since I don't have any, highest speed is 3G (does this even matter, though, since I don't have data? Or will it affect my calls/messages?). Network Selection is on automatic. Then I went to Access Point. I pressed add. This is what I filled in:
Name: T-Mobile USA
Data Type: Default
Everything under the category Internet APN is blank
MMS Access Point Name: MMS
Username and Password are blank
Proxy address: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
MMSC address: can't post URLs... so I'm not sure how to let you guys know what I have here. I basically searched T-Mobile US MMS APN settings and used the MMSC address that was listed on almost every result.
Network type: IPv6 (I don't know what this is; the other options are IPv4 and IPv4v6)
There is no place where I can put the MMS APN (epc .tmobile .com). When I added this access point and enabled it, then did a soft reset, my MMS messages still won't send. Does anyone know how to fix this, or is it just not possible to send MMS messages from an unlocked Lumia 920 on T-Mobile USA? Thank you!

Hi guys, I’m having some problems with my girlfriend phone and I’d like to ask your opinion about it.
We both have a tariff with three UK which includes sms, calls and data roaming, and we both have a Samsung Galaxy S5: I bought it in Italy (it was new), while she bought hers here in UK and it was a second hand unlocked smartphone.
Now, the problem is that, despite her phone works nicely in UK, every time we go back to Italy her data roaming doesn’t work at all, while the phone calls and the sms work properly
(the option data roaming is of course enabled).
On the other hand, my phone works perfectly both in UK and in Italy, and we also tested her SIM card in my S5, and in that case data roaming works just fine.
Here a list of tests that we did:
My SIM in her phone -> no data roaming
Her SIM in my phone -> everything works fine
change the Network mode mode in all the possibile options -> CDMA, LTE/CDMA, GSM/UMTS, Automatic
Reconfiguration of the APN settings -> they are the same in both our phones, I report them below:
Name: 3
APN: threeDOTcoDOTuk
Proxy: Not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http : // mmsDOTumDOTthreeDOTcoDOTuk : 10021 / mmsc
MMS proxy: mmsDOTthreeDOTcoDOTuk
MMS port: mmsDOTthreeDOTcoDOTuk
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 234
MNC: 20
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Enable/disable APN: APN enable
Bearer: Unspecified
Mobile virtual network operator type: None
Mobile virtual network operator value: Not set
The only “difference” (if we can call it so) is in Network mode option:
mine is “LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)”
her is “GSM/WCDMA/LTE (auto connect)”
but I don’t think it actually matters.
So, has any of you any idea of what else I can try to fix this annoying problem?
Rooting the phone and putting on another ROM may be of some help?
I have really no idea, so any suggestion is very welcome!
Thank you very much
